a word from your

Hey Ponies! It is absolutely insane to reflect on the fact that the next time I write to you will be my last. I am beyond excited to see everyone at District Convention and to pass on the torch to the incoming Bulletin Editor! With that, if you have any questions at all about the position of bulletin editor and are interested in potentially running at D-Con feel free to reach out! I’d love to have a conversation with you about it. Finally, as always, please reach out if you need anything at all or if you have any ideas for bulletin articles/social media spotlights!

K-FAMILY KATCH

Earlier this month, the Kiwanis Club of Tempe presented ASU CKI with a check to assist with general club expenses. Support like this from local Kiwanians makes all of the work CKI does, like attending DCON, possible!

In early February, Kiwanis de Amigos reached to local SLPs to team up and help a local food bank. Overall, Kiwanians, Key Clubbers, and CKI’ers were able to package over 1,200 bags of food that will go to families in need!

LIVE LOVE LEAD

HOUSE OF

delegates

With D-Con only two weeks away, it is important for clubs to figure out who will serve as delegates during the upcoming convention. At DCon, club delegates and the 2017-2018 District Board will vote on important items, such as bylaw changes and incoming board candidates! This process is incredibly important for setting our district up for success and we would love to see delegates from every single club in the district present at the upcoming convention! (There is still time to register if you haven’t already!)

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT

This month’s service spotlight is a special feature on our District’s first ever Large Scale Service Project! This event, which took place January 21 in Snowflake, AZ featured members from 5 schools in our district coming together to volunteer in the local community, have fun, and strengthen District bonds. In the afternoon, we put together chemo kits, craft kits, origami mobiles, and other fun craft projects for children in various hospitals throughout our district!

St. Baldrick’s foundation works with leading pediatric oncologists to fund research towards curing childhood cancer. The 2017-2018 SWD CKI Board selected this as our District Project as it is a new CKI Service Project and is special to Governor Laura Belmont. Now, we are raising money as a District to see members “Brave the Shave” at DCon 2018! This year, I hope that we as a district can raise $5,000 (or more!) for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, and I will be shaving my head if we reach that goal as part of a Brave the Shave event.

At this event, members will attend educational workshops, elect the 2018-2019 Southwest District Board, engage in local service opportunities, and create friendships that will last a lifetime. Registration is live on the Southwest CKI website and only $95. Register by February 2 for the early bird price!
