MAD ABOUT Southwest District Southwest District CKI held the 64th Annual District Convention on February 26th-28th in Tucson, Arizona. This year we had over 60 members from all over the Southwest attend! At DCON we elected the 2016-17 District Board, updated our bylaws and policy code, celebrated a year of service and leadership and met amazing new friends!

SERVICE Convention 2016 "During our District Convention, Southwest CKI officially kicked off Leading with Laughter, its brand new service initiative. On Saturday morning, CKI members gathered at the University of Arizona to host a Leading with Laughter activity fair, aiming to creatively promote values of leadership to young children. Some of the events included in this activity fair were a reading corner for books on leadership, making no-slip socks for service, kind crafts through Ben’s Bells, and having stations to visually represent leadership. All of the kids who came had a great job and were able to walk away with a better idea of what leadership means. CKI members also enjoyed the event and were able to participate in all of the activities as well. By the end of the day we had successfully helped Ben’s Bells mission of spreading kindness and made several bags of no-slip socks that were donated to a local hospital. Overall, it was a fun morning and a great way to kick-off Leading with Laughter!" -Anika Faglie, Service Chair "Planning District Convention as the DCON Task Force Chair was an incredible experience. It was amazing to see everyone come together to create an event that truly embodies all three tenets of CKI: service, leadership, and fellowship. DCON itself was an amazing weekend and it was a privilege to be a part of the journey to making the event as special as it was. We hope you had great time! " -Michael Zimmerman, DCON Taskforce
