ARC20001_2020_Architectural Design Studio 2(Construction)
ARC20001 Architectural Design Studio 2(Construction) is a second-year, first-semester studio at the architecture program at Swinburne University. Themed around construction and digital fabrication, this subject aims to help students develop technical competencies in the contemporary digital modelling workflow, develop the abilities to manage complex geometric data and to extract the necessary information to communicate their design and document the construction system. The brief this semester is to renovate the AD Building at Swinburne. Students were required to rethink the area behind the historic facade, a space that links up two large wings which house offices and classrooms. The aim is to transform through renovation and architectural intervention, with an emphasis on the development of tectonic systems to create a design that is both sympathetic and respectful to the existing site conditions.Studio leaders: Canhui Chen
