CHAPEL DEDICATION “In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart.” -Paul Bunyan
Swiss Village recently completed the renovation of the old library into a space for a quiet intimate Chapel. As Christians we
—
Daryl L. Martin, Executive Director
understand that we can reach out to God at any time and in anyplace. Yet experientially there are some places that are more conducive to worship. The creation of this chapel is intended to be such a place. Residents gathered in the hall outside the Chapel on February 12th for a dedication and ribbon cutting. Rev. Jerry Flueckiger led a devotional and offered a prayer of commitment. Anna V. Liechty assisted with the ribbon cutting. Thanks also to George Buhler, Dave Bauman,
and Paul Zerby for their contributions of creative workmanship. The Chapel provides residents and families a private space that allows for a more reflective personal experience than a large open area. It is intended to be a place for personal prayer, meditation and devotional reading, but also enough space for small groups. Persons should feel free to close the door if they desire privacy. We trust that God’s Spirit can use this Chapel as a place for healing and hope to all who seek him.

ALPENROSE —
February may be the shortest month of the year, but we managed to pack it very full of fun activities. We celebrated Valentine’s Day are several residents and President’s Pictured enjoying a game . Day with food and fun and trivia. Cookies or cherry pie, anyone? Music was a highlight of the month as well. Jane Summer came to play the violin, and the Stuckey Family brought a Saturday afternoon of music for our residents to enjoy. Chester Longenberger and Fred Walker delighted us with programs of even more memory stirring songs. And how we enjoyed the foods… cherry cheesecake, oreo-stuffed chocolate chip cookies, banana splits, plus our monthly McDonald’s luncheon and a flavorful resident-planned special luncheon.
Can you name the only President that did not get married? More on that in a moment. Last month we had m a n y celebrations and fun games. We Pictured is Loretta Brooks had a Valentine’s enjoying a special treat. Day party in which we played games like, “Name the Famous couple,” “Unscrambled Hearts,” and many more. We sang many favorite love songs, like “Let me call you sweetheart”. We finished with a special Valentine’s Day treat. We also had a pizza party for all the February birthdays. We had Pizza King Pizza, peaches and red velvet cake. It was yummy!! There was also a celebration for Presidents Day. We learned a little more about each President and their families. Did you know to the answer to the question? It’s President James Buchanan.
