publisher's note

We Continue to Deliver WHAT DAY IS

this? I’m sure many of you can

relate. But June is here now, and we at Sophisticated Woman have been very productive even in these challenging times. It hasn’t been easy to continue to print monthly; however, as publisher, I felt it was important to continue regular delivery of the magazine to serve our advertisers—no matter what, maintain consistency for our readers and support our community. We appreciate your loyalty and will continue to deliver a monthly printed publication and digital version, as always. We are always excited about our June issue becasue we showcase men in business and focus on husbands and fathers. Our cover story offers insight into District Attorney Warren Montgomery’s career, time in office and work/life balance. This month’s business profile features Chad Roig, his career-long association with Farm Bureau Insurance and their combined community connection. For Father’s Day, we tell the story of how one dad turned a supportive note to his daughter into his lifelong dream of writing a book. Food, drink and fashion features also follow the Father’s Day theme. And when we talk about Dad, we can’t forget his favorite summer domain—the back yard! In our home feature, Reba and Stephen Weymouth invite us to see the custom designed and highly personal paradise they’ve created right outside of their back door. As we begin to see the light at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel, businesses continue to innovate and find their new normal. Culinary Kids’ Sherri Hanson and Rinck Packaging’s Ingrid Rinck share how adversity inspired new business models, new ways to connect, and surprisingly, presented opportunities for future success. Staying productive in challenging times is a hallmark of successful people and organizations. We’re proud to keep up with our business and community partners and bring you their stories so that you can stay informed and motivated. I wish you a joyful Father’s Day, the strength to stay positive and the hope that each day brings us closer to a prosperous new normal.

Dad Notes: Messages of Fatherly Love WRITTEN BY JAN WINDHORST

TODAY, DR. CHRIS YANDLE is not being deafened by the roar of fans as his players reign supreme in a college bowl game. Nor is he campaigning for his star player to win the Heismann. He is, however, signing autographs and receiving accolades of his own while cheering on his two up-and-coming MVPs. Like many fathers, Chris wishes for his children to dream big and follow their hearts. For over a decade, he led by example, chasing his passion of becoming a college athletics director, moving his family often with daughter Addison attending three different schools in four years. When a move to Atlanta didn’t turn out to be the career launcher for which he’d hoped, he was faced with a painful and difficult decision; continue to compete with family in tow, or make the sacrifice play and choose a better option for the team. Chris and wife Ashleigh decided to settle in St. Tammany Parish to give their two children stability and a great education. “Addison adjusted well for third grade at Woodlake Elementary,” says Chris, whose love of academics rivals his passion for sports, “but we could see the moves and transition to middle school were taking their toll. I moved many times as a kid also, so even though she didn’t say anything directly, I knew something was up.” Knowing her first day at school would be stressful, Chris got an idea while making his daughter’s lunch. “I grabbed the Sharpie and wrote a note on her lunch bag. ‘Addy—Treat everyone like they are the most important person you’ll ever meet. Love, Dad.’ I took a picture of it, posted it on social media, and didn’t think twice about what I had done.” Chris says his childhood experiences were similar to Addy’s, and he wants her to benefit from that. “My difficult times as a kid are absolutely worth it now. I see myself in her and understand what she’s going through. I can give her the encouragement I wish I had at that age and teach lessons I didn’t learn until I was much older. I try to distill the lessons down to middle school level and make them relatable. Sometimes, the messages are a little over her head, but then she’ll ask me to explain and that turns into a wonderful conversation.” What started as one impulsive act of fatherly love not only helped Addy, but also opened unexpected doors for Chris. Addy’s teacher took note of Chris’ daily ritual and shared certain messages with the class. The principal became such a fan, she suggested Chris write a book about his inspiring practice.

father's day

In March of 2018, Chris opened a Kickstarter account to help publish his book. “In six weeks, I raised $3,500, and my dream of writing a book became a reality. Lucky Enough: A Year of a Dad’s Daily Notes of Encouragement and Life Lessons to His Daughter, was published in September 2018 and on sale at Barnes & Noble in early 2019. I’ve written more than 300 notes on a variety of topics. Most importantly, they are a daily opportunity for me to tell Addison how much I love her.” Although Chris uses wisdom and experience to bolster the confidence of youngsters, he also knows that adulthood doesn’t cure uncertainty. Covid-19 has interrupted the trajectory of his book and his academic career. Both his appearance as a headliner at the New Orleans Book Festival in March and his May PhD graduation ceremony were cancelled, and as universities are uncertain when classes will resume, his teaching opportunities are on hold. But through the disappointments, he continues, for his kids, to set examples of accomplishing dreams and seeing the good in difficult situations. He donated 50 copies of his book to local little free libraries and to those who requested them on Facebook and Twitter. “I want to make people feel better. I also have #DadNotes, a free text messaging service for subscribers. I send out encouraging messages and jokes on the adult level. It’s just about making people happy.” As Addy enters seventh grade in the fall, she’ll rely on her father’s support even as he faces unknowns. “It’s exciting and scary for both of us. Junior high is a whole different set up and intimidating, but we have tools that can ease fears and anxiety.” What advice does Chris have for other fathers? “Writing is easier than talking at times, but not everyone is a writer. I have writing prompts in my book, but there are other ways to connect. Just be there–physically, mentally and emotionally. Listening means the world to them. Go to their games, help with homework, watch a movie. Be there.” 8

Chad Roig | Farm Bureau® Insurance Cultivating Deep Roots Chad Roig has deep roots on the Northshore and with Farm Bureau® Insurance Company for whom he is Agency Manager, St. Tammany Parish. He grew up here, graduating from St. Paul’s in 1991 and Southeastern University in 1996. Early in his career, at just 25, he secured a position at Farm Bureau Insurance as an agent. By 2004, his growth within the company yielded a promotion to Agency Manager. Now, Chad leads a team of five agents and four staff members carrying on the company’s 70 year tradition of providing service, value, and products to Farm Bureau members through highly qualified professionals. “I’ve stayed with Farm Bureau over 22 years because the way we do business is unique,” says Roig. “While we offer home, auto, life and some commercial coverages like many others, we have important distinctions that set up apart. We’re a mutual company, so we’re owned by our policy holders. We’re membership based, and that easy initiation opens the door to other benefits including rebates on new Ford and Lincoln purchases, and substantial rental car and hotel discounts. And the biggest difference is that we keep our overhead low. For instance, you won’t see a slick TV ad for us during the big game. We keep those kinds of costs low so that we can offer inexpensive premiums while still delivering real service from real people who are your neighbors.” Contrary to some beliefs, Chad explains, Farm Bureau can offer insurance to anyone. While the organization was originally set up exclusively for the farming industry, it has branched out in the last 25 years to include insurance and other benefits to everyone. “We still support farming by participating in local junior livestock shows and other industry events, but we’re here for the whole community, supporting events like "Boo Fest," school fundraisers and local charity endeavors. My team and our families live here. Our excellent customer service includes being there for our clients in the office as well as out in the community.” Chad cites an in-house adjuster as another benefit offered by Farm Bureau Insurance, St. Tammany. “Because he works right in our office, it’s fast and easy to communicate with our adjuster and deal with any issues that might arise. There’s just a different level of customer service when the adjuster is on-site and has a local connection to clients. We pride ourselves on providing policyholders with fast, genuine, personal service and claims processing. We echo the mission of the Farm Bureau Insurance Company in Louisiana—‘caring for customers when they need us most, humbly answering the call to serve our neighbors to protect their way of life, their dreams, and their families.’” Farm Bureau® Insurance is located at 635 Falconer Dr. in Covington. business profile

Vision Brings Opportunity For Local Entrepreneur INGRID RINCK IS a self-made entrepreneur. She built the country’s largest meal prep company, Sensible Meals, using her last 50 dollars. Now a nine-figure business, the company employs over 1,200 people. With an eye for opportunity and an attitude for gratitude, Ingrid again took a bad situation and made the best of it when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. “I was at rock bottom when I started Sensible Meals. I had to quit waiting around for the world to save us. Now I’m in a position to help others, and that’s how the idea for Rinck Packaging was born.” Working around the clock, Ingrid and her father Gary opened Rinck Packaging Inc. to help Louisiana restaurants distribute meals to customers nationwide in a safe, efficient way. Ingrid says, “My life gives me circumstances that I choose to use as opportunities, and my dad, who is a CPA with 50 years of experience in the food industry, helps me build my vision.” Ingrid explains, “I launched Rinck Packaging during this pandemic because I saw the chance to help other Louisiana food industry businesses ship nationwide. We offer a quick and affordable way to create another revenue stream for them during this uncertain time.” Ingrid utilizes Sensible Meals’ 60,000 square-foot, 38-degree facility, large employee pool, fleet of refrigerated trucks, and state-of-the-art vacuum-sealing packaging equipment to assist restaurants, grocery stores, seafood companies, and even

other meal prep companies in broadening their reach. As one of only three companies in the U.S. to have this state-of-the-art vacuum-seal technology, the operation can pass along a competitive advantage to smaller businesses. Meals don’t need preservatives and can be shipped in smaller containers, remaining safe and untouched until they reach the customer. “We are extending our low rates on food, materials and shipping to every business that we serve. It’s taken us years to learn from experience, build infrastructure and facilities and do this correctly.” She adds, “We’re allowing other Louisiana businesses to skip all of those steps and go straight into safe, efficient nationwide shipping.” Within the first few weeks of business, 21 local restaurants, two meal prep companies and two seafood operations came on board to have Rinck Packaging prep, plate, label, vacuum-seal and ship for them. “Many small businesses, especially restaurants, are now struggling to stay open. By giving them deeply discounted rates and even working with direct competitors, I’m helping businesses innovate to stay afloat.” Ingrid reports that these new business partners have credited Rinck Packaging with providing a vital income stream during the COVID-19 crisis. Ingrid’s quick response to unprecedented business interruption turned into a fast-growing company that continues to create jobs for the New Orleans area. The launch is keeping Sensible Meals and Rinck Packaging employees busy and helping food-related businesses stay open. “I believe that being a good entrepreneur and business owner entails more than just making money and winning awards,” Ingrid states. “It’s about being a leader and setting an example for other businesses to see that working together and having a heart for people can be rewarding too.” For more information about vacuum-sealed packaging and shipping, please visit Rinckpackaging.com. Warren Montgomery

“My driving force is a hunger for justice, but that also needs to be tempered by mercy." 22 Sophisticated Woman | June 2020

Balancing Justice

cover story

WRITTEN BY JAN WINDHORST PHOTOS BY STEVE RANDON

FOR WARREN MONTGOMERY, balance is at the heart of his life as a public servant. “My driving force is a hunger for justice, but that also needs to be tempered by mercy. The Beatitudes in Matthew 5:6, explain the relationship by stating both, ‘Blessed are the merciful,’ and ‘Blessed are those who thirst after justice.’ The goal is not merely to have trials or to convict, but to weigh what’s best for the community and the individual. My appreciation for that balance came to mean even more after taking my oath of office.” Montgomery built upon many interests and talents to win the position of District Attorney for St. Tammany and Washington Parishes. He describes a wonderful childhood with strong role models: his businessman father, now 91, and his mother, a nurse. An Economics degree combined with an understanding of language and a nod from Mom regarding his arguing ability, led to LSU Law School. After graduation, Montgomery volunteered on the Reagan campaign in 1979 and remained in Washington, D.C. as a situation room analyst. “We monitored news 24/7 to prepare reports for senior management. I learned organization, leadership and decision making.” From there, Montgomery became a Department of Labor legislative liaison. “It was great learning the legislative process, but after the administration accomplished tax cuts and laid out future success, the situation descended into partisan politics, which held no interest for me.” In 1983, Montgomery returned to New Orleans to further his career while building a family. “It was an exciting time. I used analytical and persuasive talents at the U.S. Attorney’s Office and enjoyed “wearing the white hat” doing what you think is correct and good. And, I met my wife, Valarie, through a Christian singles group. She’s been through this journey with me since then, working as a flight attendant with time off to raise our five children—Daniel, Alison, Jenny, Kirstie and the youngest, Elijah. We chose St. Tammany to raise our kids in the country so they could run, play, explore and get a great education.” Montgomery’s next endeavor gave insight into local politics. While working as Congressman Bob Livingston’s District Manager, he ran the local office while Livingston resided in Washington D.C. “I met Sam Caruso, Sr. at this time, who strengthened the lesson that government service is a good thing, but politicizing every issue is a bad thing. I focus on meeting challenges and solving them while disregarding politics as much as possible. If public service is a ship navigating through currents and winds, politics is the waves. You can’t let the waves push you off the path. It’s important to stay the course and not be manipulated or influenced by politics.” An international, family business venture then led Montgomery to relocate to Puerto Rico for five years. “It was an essential experience where I supervised 100 employees, grew personally as a businessman and gained an appreciation for a different life view. My family didn’t have total control of the company, so I worked in hostile environments at times. It was good training for the hostile political machine I’d face on my first run for D.A.” Montgomery says winning that election as a political outsider resulted in misunderstanding and additional challenges. “Some D.A. employees resigned before I even started, thinking I would automatically fire them. While some were let go after the first week, beyond that, I evaluated everyone based on job performance without regard to their political support. Doing so depoliticized the office helping me gain the staff's respect.” Despite the rigors of reshaping the department to his vision, Montgomery continues to make family life a priority and maintains a strong set of values at home. He says his beliefs and experience regarding work/life balance caused Montgomery to establish a generous maternity leave policy resulting in a baby boom at the D.A.’s office. He also shares the family mission statement which includes loving God, creating a home haven, setting and achieving goals, creating special family time, and an honor code which decries cheating, lying and stealing. Five years into the job, Montgomery is eager to continue. “I’m making a positive difference, and I don’t want the corrupt influences of the past to re-establish themselves. My goal is to have the best D.A. office in the state and show that statistically. We've reduced the time from arrest to adjudication, reduced average age of cases pending trials, maintained a high felony arrests to convictions rate, eliminated the case backlog, converted a high dismissal rate to a high convictions rate, and seen a dramatic increase in domestic violence convictions—all while reducing operating costs.” As a testament to his successful balancing act, Montgomery shares two important upcoming goals. “The plan for my second term is to have one of the best D.A. offices in the country from a performance standpoint. And, as in years past, I’m looking forward to Father’s Day. It’s a big deal. All the kids come in, we barbecue in the back yard and just enjoy each other’s company.” This is a paid political advertorial. The views and opinions expressed in this article are those of the candidate and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of Sophisticated Woman Magazine or the publisher. More Than Just A Pretty Space WRITTEN BY JAN WINDHORST PHOTOS BY KIKI RANDON

home feature TO COMPLETE THEIR dream home in the Woodlands, Stephen and Reba Weymouth envisioned an outdoor space that would be their own private oasis. “When we walked out of the back door, we wanted to be transported to a different place – like being on vacation every day,” says Reba, an ANCC Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, member and diplomat of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, and owner of Timeless Rx. Along with beauty, functionality was a driving force behind the layout the Weymouth’s designed. Over the years, updates and additions were accomplished resulting in a space that increasingly reflected the personality of its creators. The pool and waterfall are the refreshing centerpieces of the retreat that is surrounded by bamboo. This adds a tropical feel while insulating the area from the worries of the world and any sights or sounds that might detract from the desired peacefulness. Muses Stephen, “I enjoy the tranquility of the natural surroundings. Relaxing in and around the pool is a must for unwinding, and the times spent out here with my granddaughter are precious to me.” Reba adds that the look of the waterfall provides a grotto effect, and that she loves the splashing sound for its de-stressing and calming effect. Sitting areas and an outdoor kitchen expand the home’s living area while creating a perfect environment for entertaining. Stephen’s appreciation for tranquility is balanced by a love of hosting gatherings for friends and family. Many a holiday, birthday and special occasion has been celebrated with him grilling to the strains of classic rock favorites from his extensive vinyl collection including Van Morrison, Graham Parker and Spirit playing over the custom surround sound system. Both Reba and Stephen agree that family togetherness and time spent with friends are the true gifts of their private paradise. Inviting, unique elements mirror the couple’s warm and spirited style. A covered pergola doubles as a playhouse for grandchildren and the freestanding fireplace structure is one-of-a-kind. The selection of plants, lighting and décor are inspired by a love of all things NOLA Sophisticated Woman | June 2020 25

home feature including the Saints, LSU and music. Those themes are carried through pieces of Reba’s own original artwork which bring together the different areas of the space’s layout and add fun, whimsical elements. Travel mementos add yet another layer of personal meaning to the cherished haven. In summer, the fireplace adds an interesting, architectural focal point. In winter, it serves as a cozy gathering place for sharing a nightcap and good conversation. The couple’s contentedness is evident as they reminisce about festive Christmas socials, epic theme parties, family milestones, and just as importantly, sharing good music, good food and good times for no particular reason at all. Stephen sweetly reflects on why their back yard is so much more than the sum of its parts. “The quality time that Reba and I have alone is the best part of what we’ve built out here. She’s a blessing and has been my rock and foundation – love you dear.” Reba replies in kind, ”Life is about the memories, and we’re fortunate to have made so many unforgettable ones right here.”

SITTING AREAS and an OUTDOOR KITCHEN expand the home’s living area while creating A PERFECT ENVIRONMENT for entertaining.

According to The Center for Mindful Eating, mindful eating helps us become aware of our thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations related to eating, reconnecting us with our innate inner wisdom about hunger and satiety. It brings mindfulness to food choice and the experience of eating. As you bring food to your mouth, slow down and become aware of your movements. 3. Once the food is in your mouth, clear your hands. Put hands or silverware with remaining food down. 4. Chew this bite with your mind in laser-sharp focus on the process. Concentrate on the taste of the food and the act of eating. Don't do anything else while you're chewing. Simply chew and pay attention. 5. Keep chewing until the food is uniformly smooth. Use this consistency of the food as a signal to swallow. 6. After you swallow, but before you bring more food to your mouth, rest for a few seconds, thereby inserting a pause into your eating.

clinic has turned to curbside service. People remain in the safety of their cars through the entire experience and their animals still receive the same quality of care they have come to expect. Fundraisers & Programs: due to the outbreak, two large fundraisers, Woofstock and LarryFest, were canceled as well as our summer camp program. Additionally, fundraisers scheduled for the remainder of the year may also be affected. Individual donor support is more important than ever as we try to recover the necessary funds lost by the absence of these events. Through this time, the support of our community has never wavered. People continue to choose our clinic for their pets’ veterinary care, families are fostering and adopting while working from home, and individual donors continue to support our cause. We will continue to serve those in need for as long as the community will allow us! For more information, contact the Northshore Humane Society at 985-892-7387 or visit northshorehumane.org.

Home Grown Vegetables For Summer WRITTEN BY SNOANN WILLETT, ST. TAMMANY MASTER GARDENER ASSOCIATION

THERE IS NOTHING like a homegrown tomato. The very aroma of a juicy, plump, ripe tomato slice on a BLT sandwich typifies summer. It could easily be said for any homegrown vegetable - one grown in soil, nurtured by nature and the human hands that cultivated it. Vegetables can be easily grown in the home garden with a few tips.

Gallagher's on Front St. is now open in Slidell Serving St. Tammany Parish with

Our climate is suited to grow some kind of vegetable every month of the year. For June, choose plants such as cucumbers, okra, eggplant, southern peas, squash, cantaloupe and watermelon, either as transplants from the garden store or directly sown from seed. In

fresh Gulf Seafood on the Northshore.

For container grown crops, the mature plant size will determine what container size to utilize. Five gallon or larger containers help to retain water and appropriate fertilizer amounts. Anything smaller tends to lose necessary nutrients for proper growth. Try growing a vegetable or two, or twenty. Because you personallly cared for and grew it, you may find a new fondness for a vegetable that you previsouly disliked. Or perhaps, spend the month of June preparing a raised bed for a fall planting. Smothering weeds with plastic, old magazines/newspapers or cardboard takes about a month for complete eradication. Dig a depth of three inches or more to remove all roots or other vegetation within the desired area. Construct a border with concrete blocks or treated landscape material*. Fill the bed with a garden blend of media found at most garden centers or feed stores. To find more helpful tips, visit lsuagcenter.com, “Louisiana Home Vegetable Gardening.”

Culinary Kids Goes "Stir Crazy" STORY AND PHOTOS BY JAN WINDHORST

WHEN STAY-AT-HOME ORDERS forced Sherri Hansen to close her cooking school, Culinary Kids, she felt the weight of the world on her shoulders. “I had to get my four kids settled into online school and help with homework. Then, I had to face loss of income for myself and 28 employees while trying to sort through new government regulations. My husband is a medical pilot, but can’t be the breadwinner due to a recent, surprise, massive heart attack. It was one level of tragedy after another, and I felt like Atlas having to hold everything up.” Sherri’s business model is all about connecting people. She’s passionate about interacting with students, families and other small businesses, and when she couldn’t do that face to face, she was at a loss – until she cooked up a deliciously creative solution. “I was down because the internet is saturated with cooking videos. We can’t compete with the production of big TV networks. Then it dawned on me. Going live on Facebook would allow that all-important connection. Through comments, I could see who was watching, viewers could ask questions, and we could all interact in real time. The next day I called Chef Clare Reding and said, ‘Get ready, we’re going on camera with Stir Crazy Cook Alongs.’” Each show takes about eight hours of preparation. Sherri posts ingredient lists on Mondays so viewers have time to get food and supplies before the Sunday lesson. It’s a labor of love because anyone can watch at no cost. Sherri says it’s worth every minute to bring together families and friends–some from other states and countries–and to provide income to some employees through online donations. “It instantly exploded because quarantined families wanted something to do together. Parents get a break because another grownup is in charge for a while, and the kids get to serve parents like it’s their own restaurant. Since we start at four o’clock, dinner is ready just on time.” Sherri projects the show on a screen so she can see questions as they come in. A step stool helps her get the best angles of the guest chefs at work. For Mother’s Day, awardwinning, 14-year-old student Emma Philippus prepared shrimp and grits with Brussel sprouts for her mother and grandmother–chefs in their own right having trained in France and each with a published cookbook. Emma began Culinary Kids classes at nine years old, has attended Top Chef Jr. Boot Camp, and beat out a Master Chef Jr. runner-up and Chopped Jr. champion at the Southern Girls Can Cook competition. Sherri’s enthusiasm and zest for life, cooking and her family of students and employees shines through as she continues to connect despite overwhelming adversity. “The first minute we went live I felt I had my connections and purpose back. It’s been so much fun, I plan to keep it going even after this is all over.” Culinary Kids is located at 915 Marigny Ave. in Mandeville. Services To Honor A Life—A funeral or memorial service, whether traditional or contemporary, is the first step in healing. It’s about bringing loved ones together at a time of loss. Your choices include the place of celebration, day of the week and time, musical selections, prayers to be said and songs to be sung. We can also arrange tribute videos, personalized printing, memorial websites and live funeral webcasting. Caring for Physical Remains—Usually, people are clear on their choice of burial or cremation. Most loved ones have told someone how they wish to be cared for. But it can be a hard decision for some families, especially when the wishes of the deceased were never clearly stated. Please know we’re here to help you with that decision. If you’ve chosen burial, the casket is chosen followed by the selection of vault or desired cemetery location. If cremation is your choice, the next decision will be whether the remains will be placed in a mausoleum niche or buried on cemetery grounds.

We look forward to using our generations of experience to help you create the most memorable and meaningful funeral to honor your loved one. Since 1992, E.J. The Trace Eases COVID-19 Isolation with Family Car Parade

Staff at The Trace by Discovery Senior Living organized a family car parade to uplift the spirits of residents who were missing their families. Recreation and Events Coordinator Tanya Carney devised a solution that would satisfy residents' needs while also complying with the state regulations for gatherings. Distancing guidelines were met by placing one resident or resident couple per parking slot with parading cars spaced 40 feet apart. The families decorated their cars with loving words for family members, and residents made signs with messages for the drive-by. Carney describes an emotional scene watching the smiles and tears form as families passed through, with excitement and emotion creating a truly humbling experience. Due to popular demand, another family car parade is planned for Father's Day. 38 Sophisticated Woman | June 2020

Northshore Food Bank Appeals for Help During COVID-19 Crisis

Says Dr. Brasuell, “I wouldn’t be the Pediatric Dentist I am today had I not met Dr. Billy Michal. His dedication to education and all the exceptional students we see in our practice are the reasons I wanted to honor him with the scholarship award. Congratulations to our Class of 2020 winner, Klaire Fairburn, with her winning essay, 'All Because of a First Grade Teacher.' We were very impressed with her essay and can’t wait for the future teacher to inspire many children!"

COVID-19 has had a dramatic economic impact on our community. Since the health crisis began in mid-March, Northshore Food Bank has had a 50% increase in food distributions. Northshore Food Bank is committed to serving the need but due to the extension of government guidelines is still appealing for continued help to provide much needed meals for community neighbors. Donations can be made at northshorefoodbank.org or by calling 985-893-9958.

The St. Tammany Chamber is an everyday partner to businesses from Slidell to Folsom. With COVID creating so many unknowns and difficult situations in our lives, much less conducting business, it is comforting knowing that the Chamber continues to be a consistent force in helping commerce continue. As we move through the complexities before us, the Chamber is committed to assisting entrepreneurs and businesses with best practices for coming back online, and to provide guidance to those who have remained open. If we have learned anything during this pandemic, it’s that we will get through this if we continue to work together. I encourage that you join Ochsner Northshore in working with and supporting the St. Tammany Chamber in its efforts to restart business activity.
