Tired of wasting time with multiple trips to the dentist
?
A ROOT CANAL & CROWN IN THE SAME DAY, AMAZING! Dr. Schof and his team are on the leading edge of technology with this latest procedure. They can reduce the number of visits to the dentist’s office to one visit. This complex procedure can typically be completed in one day. The new procedure frees the need for a temporary crown and repeated trips to different dentists. The cost for this new procedure is comparable to traditional root canal and crown procedure cost, while saving both time and money.

September is the month when school is finally at full throttle, the children are back into outside activities, and events seem to have reached that first fever pitch. There is a definite directional change, however subtle. Whatever the case, as we enter the beginnings of fall, the anticipation of things to come will always sustain me. Personally, I look forward to football games, cooler weather and family time outdoors (without passing out from the heat). I also look forward to learning to recognize and stop that hurried, frenzied state by taking time to enjoy the moments as they come, instead of wondering (with dread) how I am going to manage the next event.

Behind the Scenes with Pam EVERY WOMAN loves to be indulged, and our cover girl is no exception. With her busy schedule, a day away from the clinic is a rare occurrence for Nurse Practitioner and Enterprising Woman Pam Chrisman of Acadian Care, LLC. However, we were able to steal her away long enough to provide some pampering prior to her cover photo shoot. Pam was treated to hair styling and make up application by Audra Malnar-Brown (pictured) of Paris Parker in Mandeville.

Ask Dr. W— OB/GYN Advice
HOW MANY TIMES have you taken two steps out of your doctor’s office only to remember the flood of questions you forgot to ask? Even though I am a physician, this has happened to me as a patient. In addition, as an obstetrician and gynecologist I understand that some women don’t always feel comfortable asking their doctors certain questions as they may feel that the questions are “too embarrassing” or “too personal.” With this in mind this column will address your questions directly. Like the “Dear Abby” advice columns of the past, what better way to ask those questions than in a “Dear OB/Gyn” format? The more in tune a woman is when her body is healthy, the more she will recognize a problem when it does occur. I am passionate about women’s health, fitness and nutrition and was bitten by the Preventive Medicine bug years ago while working for Dr. Oz as a pre-med student at Columbia.

CANCER. WHAT A DIRTY WORD. Even just the mention can conjure up feelings of dread. The truth is, cancer is not the disease it once was. Science is making huge strides in its treatments, and survival rates are increasing dramatically. Historically, the only focus in cancer treatment was survival. But as survival rates increased, treatment has started to include a philosophy of optimizing quality of life as well. That’s where physical therapy comes in. We want to make sure that people retain their ability to do the things they love to do, despite the disease and the treatment.

The many side effects of cancer treatment include: internal scarring, heavy fatigue, unhealthy tissue, weakness and pain. These can take a toll on a survivor’s ability to live their best life. The greatest complaint patients generally report during treatment is fatigue, which can quickly morph into depression. Chemotherapy, surgery and radiation can also damage soft tissue to the point that quality of life is impaired. Physical therapy can reduce this. In a recent study performed on breast cancer survivors, results showed that the patients who received physical therapy had significantly less neck and shoulder pain, and reduced active muscle trigger points. If you know of someone walking through cancer treatment, remember that it is important to plan for an amazing life after cancer. Encourage them to ask if physical therapy might help them live their best life.

Top Attorneys Family Values in Family Law— Tranchina & Mansfield, LLC WRITTEN BY AMY BOUTON
BOARD CERTIFIED IN FAMILY law by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization, founding partners Frank Tranchina and Mark Mansfield of Tranchina & Mansfield, LLC, agree on what is paramount to the success of each case. “We look at the client’s ultimate goal. We strive to prevent further damage to the framework of the family involved in an already volatile time. We look to resolve each case as efficiently as possible,” Frank says. For associate Tracy Gold, this means making the process as easy as possible for the children involved. “I do my best to keep my clients focused and I try to be the voice of reason,” she says. As a mother of three and former prosecutor with a psychology background, she brings a dynamic feminine viewpoint to the practice. “We are all in different places in our lives. This allows a variation on the perspective we bring to each case.” Although she is known as being tough, she believes her maternal touch is what makes her a valuable asset when it comes to family law. “When people are going through something as difficult as divorce, they want someone like me who will handle things right away. They want to resolve the situation so they can mend their lives and move on.” Mark Mansfield admits through his role as a father, he has gained discernment in his professional life. “Clients need someone who remains level-headed,” he says. “I have learned through my experience both in law and in life, that there is already an

When we look for resolutions through compromise, decisions are made more clearly. The ultimate goal is to resolve the case, not prolong it. This saves the client precious time and at the end of the day—money.” Known as sagacious by his colleagues, with an innate ability to see the big picture, Frank has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America every year for the last decade. “Several things set our practice apart,” Frank notes. “We have two Board Certified Family Law attorneys on staff. We have extensive trial experience if the need arises to argue our
case in court, and we use a team approach to nearly every case.” He also credits their unmatched legal lineup including paralegal Klea Davis, and legal secretary Meghan Bedair, along with the forensic CPAs they utilize. “Our combined experience as attorneys is over 60 years,” Frank says. “The success of our practice in the end comes from our experience and our ability to work for our clients’ best interest and the best interest of their families.” Tranchina & Mansfield, LLC is located in Downtown Covington at 321 East Kirkland Street, 985-892-1313. OVER A CENTURY AGO in Franklin, Louisiana, Milling Benson Woodward LLP was founded. The office was moved to New Orleans at the beginning of the 20th century, and satellite offices were later opened in Lafayette and Baton Rouge. In early 2010, downtown Covington welcomed the Northshore office of the firm and the rich history it embodies. “With such growth in St. Tammany Parish, we feel that we bring decades of experience in several areas of law, including business health care, corporate business and tax, corporation, banking, intellectual property, oil and gas, successions and estates, and insurance litigation,” says partner and Health Care Department Chairman Normand Pizza. Along with Normand Pizza, Michael E. Holoway, Chadwick Collings, Thomas Schneidau, and Oris Creighton also practice in the Covington office. “We are one of the few law firms who has a health care law practice which offers businesses legal advice with a health care twist,” Normand notes. “Not many other firms can do that.” For health care professionals who plan to become self-employed, form a physicians’ group, open a clinic as an adjunct to a hospital, or sell their professional medical businesses, and for countless other aspects of the law, Milling Benson Woodward LLP can walk them through the entire process from beginning to end. “We can navigate through HIPAA laws and the rules of privacy. We can steer them down the path that will ultimately save them the most money based on the knowledge of what the laws actually are,” Normand says. “Lisa Dutruch, RN is our own in-house health care professional. Ronda stays abreast of federal and state Medicaid rules and applications. Her firm notifies clients when regulatory changes require corresponding changes to special needs trusts. “Our job is not to create a trust and put it in a file to be executed at a client’s death. Our job is to establish a life-long relationship with our clients and that means assessing their needs in the context of an ever changing legal landscape,” she said. “Parents go through a lot of time and effort to apply for and receive benefits, especially the Medicaid Waiver program. It is our job to make sure their children are able to keep these benefits after their death.” In addition to special needs trusts, the firm executes all estate planning services (Wills, trusts, successions and administrations), elder law, Medicaid, VA benefits and life care planning issues. The firm’s mission is to deliver nothing less than the best estate planning service available to clients in a warm, friendly atmosphere where the needs of the client always come first. Ronda M. Gabb & Associates LLC, “A Louisiana Estate Planning & Elder Law Practice.” She is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is a Board Certified Estate Planning and Administration Specialist Certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. THERE ARE MANY FEDERAL, state and community programs to assist in the development and care of special needs children. Parents and family members are linked to these programs at the time of a medical diagnosis so that they may begin accessing care as soon as possible. The main focus is tending to a child’s immediate needs. As a Board Certified Estate Planning and Administration Specialist (certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization), Ronda M. Gabb, knows that long-range planning for special needs children is just as important as immediate access to medical care. “It is imperative that parents of children with special needs have a Will. It does not matter if the children are 15 or 50, because of Louisiana’s unique forced heirship laws, these special needs children must be left an inheritance. However, if left to the children improperly, they will lose their Medicaid if they inherit monies in excess of $2,000.” Throughout her 12 years of practicing estate planning law, Ronda has crafted Wills and trusts that provide for the ongoing care of people with special needs without the risk of losing Medicaid and other entitlement benefits. “There are so many intricacies to creating special needs trusts,” she said. “Every type of inheritance needs to be considered—monetary assets, life insurance policies, retirement plans, and so on. It is our job to make sure that all the pieces of the puzzle are addressed at the same time and in the same manner.”

Divorce Mediation: A Less Painful Path© Separation and divorce bring both emotional and physical changes for families. When couples decide to separate, there are many issues to consider, including plans for parenting their children, division of property and future financial arrangements, all of which can create additional stress and conflict. All too often, family members feel like bystanders in their own divorce process. Divorce Mediation can help you through this process and has been described as a “less painful path.” Mediation is a voluntary, non-adversarial process which helps people to negotiate the issues in dissolving their marriage. The founder and principal mediator of RESOLUTIONS,
Mark A. Myers, says, “Divorce mediation can provide you with the opportunity to negotiate mutually beneficial terms in total privacy, at great cost savings over litigating those same issues in Court.” The process of divorce mediation helps identify the key issues associated with the divorce, such as division of marital property, support, parenting, and plans for the future. Divorce mediation is conducted to provide a “win/win” solution for both parties, and eliminates the “winner/loser” atmosphere that is part of the adversarial process. The process helps the parties to find reasonable and acceptable resolutions.
Advantages to Mediation: • It is non-adversarial • It leads to mutual decisionmaking • It helps clarify and eliminate areas of conflict • It is cost-effective • It is confidential
• It gives the participants personal power and involvement in the process • It is best for children who are affected by divorce • It is convenient • It works! ©John Haynes, PhD

Advocate for Elderly
Helen and Harold Bartholomew IN 2005, ST. TAMMANY PARISH Assistant DA, Harold Bartholomew, Jr. was entrusted with an assignment that would 2010 literally change his life. “I was named the supervisor of the Elder Abuse Protection Unit, right here in St. Tammany and Washington Parishes,” he remembers. “This issue was not even on my radar, until District Attorney Walter Reed asked me to handle the first Elder Abuse unit in the state.” “Elder abuse is often misunderstood. My job is to explain to people how and why we want to prosecute cases of it.” With cooperation from hospitals, nursing homes, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and Elderly Protective Services, Harold was able to see his task rapidly unfold and progress into a statewide trend. “Sheriff Strain backed this effort early on. He recently hosted training sessions including law enforcement agents from area parishes on how to spot elder abuse,” Harold says. “Through Elderly Protective Services, elderly victims have access to many services. Several agencies work together to investigate crimes against the elderly, and assist the victims.” As liaison to the group Seniors And Law Enforcement Together (www.stsalt.org), Harold has seen tremendous strides made for the elderly. He credits SALT’s Ralph O’Neal for impacting our senior citizen community in such a positive way. “Many people’s hard work won this Northshore’s Best. This honor belongs to them.” Harold says, “My work in Elder abuse has been spiritually rewarding. This is really making a difference in people’s lives.” If you know of a victim of elder abuse or neglect, contact Elderly Protective Services at 800-259-4990 for help.

Dedicated Care for Children Pam Chrisman, APRN— Acadian Care, LLC WRITTEN BY AMY BOUTON

“My passion in life is to help my patients and to hopefully make that positive difference in their lives.”
SURROUNDED BY A STAFF that Pam Chrisman, APRN refers to as immensely dedicated from the front desk all the way up to your doctor, Pam relishes the work she does every day at the Acadian Care child and adolescent psychiatry clinic on the North Shore. “Most days I can hardly believe I get paid for what I do,” she says. She recalls a recent very rewarding moment. “The little boy came in clutching a package and a card for me. His mother explained to me that in class that day the discussion turned to people who help us.” His person was Pam. She sees that simple wooden vase he gave her as a token of his appreciation every day, as she proudly displays it in her home. “My passion in life is to help my patients and to hopefully make that positive difference in their lives. We really just want to see all of our patients overcome any of the obstacles facing them and help them lead the best life they can.” As a child growing up in Huntington Beach, Pam enjoyed the typical California lifestyle and recalls summers spent camping surrounded by scenic beauty with her close-knit family. She left the west coast to attend the University of South Alabama. After completing her education, Pam was hired at a hospital in Mississippi, where she met child and adolescent psychiatrist, Richard F. Kutner, MD. They’ve know each other well for over a decade as they worked closely in the field of pediatric mental health. Pam is proficient in her field, a leader, and loves the specialty of child psychiatry. It was a natural progression that Pam and Dr. Kutner eventually chose to work together as colleagues at Acadian Care. “Dr. Kutner agrees with me. It’s as challenging as it is rewarding to work with children and their families and to see them get better,” she says. As a nurse practitioner, Pam has many of the same privileges as a physician. She can evaluate and treat patients, as well as prescribe medications when indicated. Patients eagerly anticipate their time with Pam and it’s not uncommon that they may even pester their parents to come back for their appointments. Pam attributes this in part to children recognizing her as a person that wants to get to know them as individuals. “We work hard to create a comfortable, orderly and playful

Dr. Kutner will open a second location in Mandeville in October. “Our goal is to reduce stressors in the lives of our patients in any way that we can,” says Dr. Kutner. “To that end, we feel that a second location will enable many of our patients to be closer to our care, and in turn, enjoy more time with their families, friends and activities.” Pam and Dr. Kutner collaborate on every case, and create a treatment plan for each patient and adapt this plan as needed. “Pam genuinely cares in a heartfelt way about people. Patients know that whether they see Pam or me, they will receive a high level of care,” Dr. Kutner says. “She is easy to get comfortable with and she is always trying to improve herself as a clinician. I am extremely grateful to have her. She has dedication, commitment and compassion; and that’s just her, it’s something that can’t be taught. Pam is professional and smart, and she gets smarter every day—she is an outstanding nurse practitioner and an incredible person.” Acadian Care, LLC is located at 113 Christian Lane in Slidell, Louisiana, 985-781-7353. environment for children where they can be themselves. Our staff works to build and maintain the trust we have with our patients and the community. It’s very important to us,” she states. “If the child knows in his heart that we only have his health and well-being in mind, and he sees us doing our best to nurture this, we will likely have a much more successful outcome,” she says. “Not to mention, it’s a lot more fun that way,” she smiles. “During the appointment Dr. Kutner insists, and I agree, that we don’t look at a clock. We don’t have clocks in the patient rooms that could distract us. We focus on the child and the family no matter how long it takes,” she says. “A lot of times we run late, but our patients are awesome and they understand. Even if we’re running behind, often a child still doesn’t want to leave because they are having so much fun with the toys.” Pam continues, “A successful outcome is built one visit at a time, and this is time in a child’s life so we try to make it as nice as possible”. After initial diagnosis and evaluation, Pam and Dr. Kutner present to the parents an array of treatment options. “We work in tandem with every parent. We consider their wishes and concerns when it comes to treatment alternatives, and provide them with as much information and as many answers as we can give them. In the end, we try to choose the treatment plan that is best, not only for their child, but for the entire family as well,” Pam notes. “We commonly address each parent’s unique concerns, such as tips on how to take medicines, and try to maximize any positive effect a medicine or therapy may have in a child’s life.” It can be a stressful world and many factors can take a toll on a child’s or teenager’s sense of safety or well being. “Any time a child seems to withdraw or isolate, or there is a significant change in their personality, grades in school, or seemingly unexplained moodiness or worry, parents should take note and address the situation,” Pam says. “Clearly not every behavioral variation requires the help of a professional, but parents should stay in tune with these changes and bring them up with their pediatrician or call us if they are worried.” With the growing population throughout the Northshore, there are more children whom could benefit from the service provided by Acadian Care. In an attempt to decrease the drive time of many patients from outlying cities who drive anywhere from 30 minutes to three hours each way to the current clinic in Slidell, Pam and

Patty, What is appropriate to wear to a night wedding? This depends on the style of the wedding. The options are numerous. Black dresses have slowly crept into the realm of acceptance for wedding attire, but for such a celebratory occasion, I recommend a more current look. Try neutral metallic textiles, or a saturated color with classic styling.
This is an excellent example of a classic use of color. This long sleeved, silk, teal dress from Laurier has delicate fabrication, with dramatic v-neck beading. Laurier, $228 | 985-875-0823.

seminar and tell me that they will forever handle a certain person in their lives differently now because it left them with a practical solution that they will easily recall.” Dian acts as a mentor for business owners just starting out, in part because she never had anyone to turn to in her earliest days. “It was a rough path for me in the beginning. It was quite leap to go from a corporate job, to my own business. I did not have a mentor, but I try to do it now as often as I can because I know what a difference it can make.” In addition she gives back to her own community through her work with non-profits and volunteer training. Dian can customize a program for any size business around any objectives a company is striving to meet whether they are a small operation or a corporate giant. Her goal is to leave every company with the tools to reach their pinnacle of performance. “I am very interested in people having success. After all—your success is my success.”

While most people might plunge into a pool of self-pity after a layoff from a job they had come to love, Dian Lusher went into business for herself instead—the very next day. Now, decades later, she maintains her thriving business and continues to add fresh components as the market demands. “My training business is really the organic evolution of what I already knew,” she says. “Most folks can be successful. I think there are pivotal times in your life when you just need somebody in your corner. That is when I will step in. I have been a trainer for several decades and I have worked in nearly every industry. I bring a lot to the table.” As a learning and motivation trainer and teacher, as well as a business consultant and coach, Dian offers instructional seminars and on-site corporate meetings focused on interoffice communication, time management, customer service and goal setting to name just a few. DYNEL, Inc., and Nola Presents are the culmination of two decades of corporate training combined with years of specially tailored seminars. Various companies, from local small businesses to large corporate giants like AT&T, hospitals and Chambers of Commerce have gleaned concrete results within their own work forces, through the implementation of her concepts. “You need to think about yourself differently both personally and professionally in order to maintain success in this new age that we are now in,” she notes. “I teach businesses every day how to stay with the times and learn with the times.” Nola Presents offers informative, entertaining presentations through the character, Nola—the mysterious N’Awlins gypsy. Visual, humorous, sensory tactics demonstrate these principles to convention and cruise audiences. Up to my Neck in Alligators, for example, is a seminar on dealing with difficult people. She delivers a visual presentation complete with actual photos of alligators in their natural habitat to drive home each concept. “People always approach me after this

І leADeRs Summit Fremeaux Still in the Works
WRITTEN BY FREDDY DRENNAN, MAYOR OF SLIDELL
I AM HAPPY TO bring you good news about the progress of the Summit Fremaux. A few weeks ago, I travelled to Birmingham, Alabama to meet with Jeffrey Bayer, the developer of the Summit project. During the meeting, we addressed the numerous construction delays, where things currently stand, and the future of the project. It was a long and arduous meeting, but I want to let you know that I now feel very comfortable about the future of the Summit. During the meeting, Mr. Bayer and his associates brought out their books and spent a lot of time explaining the situation they are facing. Of course the economic climate is mostly to blame, but Mr. Bayer explained that in order for them to proceed, they need
to secure leases from retail stores before construction can begin. Mr. Bayer said that he is working to secure several anchor stores and once those are attached, he assures me that other stores will follow. At one point in the meeting, I asked Mr. Bayer—point blank—if he still planned to build the Summit in Slidell. He assured me that they are still committed to building here. I wanted Mr. Bayer to understand how important the Summit Fremaux project is to our city and our residents. People see this project as a barometer for the economy and when the Summit starts construction in January 2012, I believe it will show other businesses that Slidell is here and open for business.
Improvements Take Shape in Time for Fall Lineup
WRITTEN BY DONALD VILLERE, MAYOR OF MANDEVILLE
THE CITY OF MANDEVILLE has completed Lakefront improvements including landscaping surrounding the historic fountain. It is now in working order and has been outlined in Old St. Louis brick. New walkways were installed, and boxwoods and live oaks were added. The fountain is located near the seawall between Coffee and Carroll Streets. The gazebo has also gotten a facelift. Gardens were added around the entire perimeter and the landscaping was framed in Old St. Louis brick. New sidewalks were installed as well as adjacent walkways. With the installation of playground equipment at The Lakefront Harbor playground, this project is now complete. The City will present Sunset Symphony On The Lake

TRAVEL BACK IN TIME to a place where the smell of black powder once filled the air, oxen and cattle roamed the dusty streets, and a light keeper’s family protected mariners at the southernmost tip of this unique historic town. Originally named Cokie, the town’s name was changed in 1811 to honor President James Madison. On September 24, the Town of Madisonville will celebrate its 200th birthday! The celebration will span throughout the entire day, but local media celebrity Jeff Crouere and father Frank Grioir, of St. Anslem Catholic Church, will kick off the opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. on the Tchefuncte Riverfront. Enjoy meeting historical characters throughout the day. President and Mrs. Dolley Madison will arrive by boat as they are serenaded by the Madisonville Junior High band, and Mr. and Mrs. Thurston (the first light keepers of the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse) and the ghost of the silk Lady will make appearances as well as tell stories at the ballpark. Historian and archivist, Sally K. Slidell: A Cultural Economy
WRITTEN BY DAWN SHARPE-BRACKETT, EAST ST. TAMMANY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CEO
SLIDELL IS YOUR LOCATION if you are seeking a cultural atmosphere. The Cultural and Public Affairs Department through grants and its yearly sponsors, creates an excellent opportunity for the chamber to promote cultural events for East St. Tammany to tourists, business executives, employees and future business leaders of St. Tammany Parish. Cultural events have a significant impact on the quality of life in the community. One focus of the Chamber of Commerce is quality of life. This issue is important to nurture the businesses we represent and to bring new businesses into our region. At a recent Chamber event, the Cultural Economy Luncheon, Donna O’Daniels of the St. Tammany Parish Tourist Commission pointed out that “tourism in St. Tammany is a nearly $200 million
industry annually and accounts for about 1500 jobs parish wide with a payroll of more than $27 million. The local cultural opportunities are one of the many reasons that leisure travelers choose to stay here in St. Tammany. In Slidell, more than 20 percent of overnight visitors are leisure travelers.” The turnouts for cultural events speak volumes about community support. Kim Bergeron reports, “Every year, Arts Evening draws crowds of about 5,000. Bayou Jam concerts have attracted crowds of up to 11,000, and Some Enchanted Evening with the LPO brings in crowds of up to 11,000 each year—a number equal to 35 percent of the city’s population.” For information on sponsoring the Cultural Arts, please contact Kim Bergeron at 985-646-4375.
Keeping Citizens in the Loop
WRITTEN BY MIKE COOPER, MAYOR OF COVINGTON
ONE OF THE MAJOR objectives of my new administration is to improve communication within the City of Covington. Keeping everyone—administration, organizations and citizens—on the same page is crucial to civic cooperation. We rely more and more on the internet, particularly social media, to keep everyone connected. Last month, we experienced an odd occurrence of three water outages over a period of three days. Throughout this inconvenience, our administration was able to deliver timely updates to citizens via Facebook and email alerts. Social media served as an efficient avenue for the delivery of crucial information as well as a venue for feedback. It is something we plan to utilize more in the future. A plan to provide an optional City of Covington text message alert system
to our citizens is in the works also. It is equally important to maintain communication with those outside our community, to draw them in and show them what Covington has to offer. For that reason, we have stepped up our Facebook activity and email notifications with more frequent updates on fundraisers, concerts, plays and other events. From the Columbia Street Block Parties to concerts at the Covington Trailhead, downtown Covington is never short on entertainment and activities. Visit facebook.com/covingtonla for more information on current city events. If your organization has an event in Covington you think the public should know about, contact the Office of Cultural Arts and Events at gottaluvcov@covla.com.

Walk This Way
38
WRITTEN BY LIZ ANDERSON PONCHATOULA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
WALKABILITY IS A term recently coined and defined by walklive.org as “the extent to which the built environment is friendly to the presence of people walking, biking, living, shopping, visiting, enjoying or spending time in an area.” With each day that passes, Ponchatoula becomes a more exemplary model of walkability. As you stroll from the ample parking lot in the heart of town, you’ll find that within five minutes you can visit medical professionals, the post office, the library, the grocery store, church, the town museum, as well as a spectrum of restaurants ranging from fast food, to family cuisine to haute dining. There are also antique shops, dress shops, pubs, hardware stores, an art school and more.
All of this was available even before the Ponchatoula Pedestrian Project—a grant associated with the DOTD Transportation Enhancement Program, and applied for by Mayor Bob Zabbia in July of 2006. Since then, Phase 1 paved sidewalks from South Fifth to Ford Street on the east side of town, and Phase 2 from South Eighth to Berryland Shopping Center on the west side, making Ponchatoula not only pedestrian friendly, but also, ADA compliant and accessible. Thanks to the generous gift of an anonymous donor, the Visitor’s Center located in the center of town has received new fixtures, creating a clean and convenient lavatory for our volunteers. Come to historic downtown Ponchatoula; spend the day strolling our streets and see how our town exemplifies “walkability.”
