Callie and Charlie met in a barn, got engaged in a barn, built a barn and were married in a barn. If you heard about a couple that “couldn’t find their dream wedding venue, so they built their own,” you might assume that they were high maintenance or spoiled, but Callie and Charlie are neither of those things. They are creative, hardworking, industrious and had a vision beyond their wedding day that will shape their lives for years to come. Read more about Callie and Charlie’s touching love story and their dream venue, The White Magnolia, on page 18.

riences, however, pale in comparison to preparing for a bridal fashion shoot. We are fortunate to work with talented business owners from across the Northshore including makeup artists, bridal boutiques, hair stylists, florists and photographers to create these looks, and we couldn’t do any of this without them. For our first styled shoot we collaborated with my friends Jennifer Palpallatoc from Haute Off The Rack, Krystal Faircloth from A Pinch of Lovely and Gretchen Barnes to put together a few stylish bridesmaid options for your upcoming nuptials. We spent the day at the beautiful Maison Lafitte in Mandeville and used gorgeous gowns provided by Bella Bridesmaids and Fleurt Boutique. The day was made even more fun with help from Lainey Reed and Brooke Boyd, talented photographers and videographers who kept us laughing all day. For our second photo shoot, Taylor Anderson modeled four completely different bridal looks from four different bridal boutiques on the Northshore. Southern Bridal, Olivier Couture, The Royale Oak and Fleurt Boutique each provided a stunning wedding gown for the afternoon. Steve Randon expertly captured these gorgeous shots and was having so much fun, he didn’t want to leave! Steve even gave us some tips on how you can get the best photos on your wedding day on page 29. Part of the joy in creating a bridal publication comes from encountering incredible real weddings from Northshore brides. These weddings were chosen not only for their gorgeous details but also for their stories. Sometimes we can forget that a wedding is simply about two people, sharing in their love and commitment to each other. For that reason, I am ecstatic to share the incredible love story of our cover couple, Callie and Charlie Richardson, and their journey in building The White Magnolia. You can read their story on page 20. Congratulations to all of the newly engaged couples and to those about to celebrate your wedding vows. Enjoy your time together and don’t let the wedding festivities overwhelm you! Xoxo,

WHAT'S HOT WITH

EVEN THOUGH SIPPING A FROZEN COCKTAIL WHILE LOUNGING ON THE BEACH WILL NEVER LOSE ITS CHARM, MORE AND MORE NEWLYWEDS ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEIR HONEYMOON TO SEE AND EXPERIENCE SOME OF THE WORLD’S MOST AMAZING DESTINATIONS. HERE ARE MY TOP PICKS FOR BUCKET-LIST HONEYMOON EXPERIENCES:

Safari HONEYMOONS WHAT BETTER WAY to begin married life than with a romantic glamping (glamour + camping) adventure in the bush of Africa? Adventure and romance go hand-in-hand on a safari honeymoon. It absolutely will be a vacation that can be checked off of the bucket list. Imagine hot air ballooning over the Serengeti or a candlelit dinner under the stars in the bush. Take an outdoor, rose petal-filled, romantic bath for two or sail into the sunset on a traditional mokoro canoe while sipping champagne. Think of the thrill of heading out at dawn as the sun is rising and setting your eyes, for the first time, on a majestic male lion, a grazing elephant or a dazzle of zebra. Return to your lodge for an afternoon of relaxation, spa treatments and high tea before heading out on your evening game viewing activity. End your day with a gourmet dinner and dip in your private plunge pool. Combine your safari honeymoon with an extension to one of the islands of the Indian Ocean, such as beautiful Zanzibar for a safari and beach honeymoon combo. Another popular combination with safari is to head to Cape Town, South Africa, a city known for its beauty, sophistication, surrounding Winelands and history. 8 SW Wedding Magazine | 2016/2017

Adventure

HONEYMOONS

NEWLYWEDS CAN PICK adrenalin over endorphins and venture to destinations that offer a wide variety of adventure on their honeymoons. Australia is a wonderful destination for thrill-seeking honeymooners where there is endless adventure and wilderness. Couples can take surfing lessons, learn to hang glide or hike through the rainforest at Byron Bay. The Cradle Mountains feature amazing countryside for hiking, horseback riding or biking. There is a reason the Great Barrier Reef appears on so many honeymoon bucket lists. This immense natural phenomenon is one of the seven wonders of the natural world. From getting up close and personal with the abundant marine life to taking in spectacular views of the reef by air, the list of incredible experiences to be had in this area is almost endless. Another adventurous option is a honeymoon to Peru. From sandboarding in Paracas to climbing Machu Picchu, Peru is a wonderful destination for adventure-seeking honeymooners. Couples can extend their honeymoon to include a cruise through the Amazon or the Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador. Iceland is also a hot honeymoon destination this year. Take in the beauty of the Northern Lights or cuddle under the midnight sun when you honeymoon in Iceland. With its dramatic scenery, wilderness lodges, exploding geysers, steaming hot pools and thundering waterfalls, the land of fire and ice is a remarkable honeymoon destination.

Planning AN ENGAGED COUPLE cannot start planning soon enough when it comes to bucket list honeymoons. A minimum of 6 – 8 months is recommended for a safari or adventure honeymoon. It is important to establish your trip budget in advance of planning, and don’t forget to factor in important expenses such as travel insurance, visas and vaccinations. Working with a professional on the planning of your honeymoon will ensure you have time to focus on the many details of your upcoming wedding. Bucket list trips usually happen once in a lifetime. Why not begin your new life together by checking off one of these spectacular travel experiences on your honeymoon? Travel With Stephanie specializes in creating luxury bucket-list itineraries and honeymoons around the globe. Cake

LET THEM EAT

YOUR WEDDING CAKE should be two things: beautiful and delicious. Some brides choose ornate confections while others opt for a much simpler “less is more” approach for their wedding day desserts. Either way, we are loving these wedding cake trends for 2017. Naked Cakes Naked Cakes with their exposed layers are the perfect examples of how brides are saying less is more. Flower Power For a while, intricate designs and edible/sugar flowers dominated the wedding scene, topping cakes covered in smooth, flawless fondant. Now, real flowers, leaves and vines atop rustic, imperfect butter cream frosting are having their time in the light. Metallic Cakes We’re seeing metallic everywhere, from sparkling bridesmaid dresses to wedding stationery. Why shouldn’t your cake have a little fun? Whether they are lightly dusted with gold flakes or sparkling with edible glitter, we’re seriously loving this opulent cake trend. White-on-White Classic white always says bridal. If you’re interested in intricate designs without going over the top, these colorless cakes are the way to go.

THEY MET IN A BARN

The White

MAGNOLIA

Callie’s parents were out of town at a horse show when she realized that Freckles, one of her sister’s retired horses, was lame (very sore and limping). Her parents recommended a “horse guy” to come check Freckles’ legs. Charlie showed up to look at the horse and met with Callie to show her what she needed to do for Freckles. At this point, Charlie already realized that Freckles simply had a bad case of arthritis. However, after meeting Callie, he decided to tell her that they needed to meet every day, twice a day, to wrap Freckles’ legs. After about two weeks of the daily meetings, Charlie finally confessed that the horse simply had arthritis and asked Callie out to dinner.

THEY WERE ENGAGED IN A BARN It was the weekend after Callie’s birthday and she thought she was going to her family barn for a birthday dinner. When they arrived, Charlie asked her to sit on the swing at the end of the barn and she saw her entire family peeking around the side. Then she noticed the song Look at You Girl was playing over the speakers. Callie’s little sister walked out with a sign that said “Today is Your Day” and Charlie started walking towards her with a palomino horse he had given her a few weeks before. “I was still really confused at this point,” she says, “I remember thinking, today is not my birthday. As he got closer, he grabbed my hands and started telling me all of these super sweet things and I WRITTEN BY ANNA LEDONNE PHOTOS BY ASHLEIGH JAYNE PHOTOGRAPHY

noticed the horse’s halter said ‘Will You Marry Me?’ on it. Then he got down on one knee and popped the question. And of course I said yes!”

C

allie and Charlie's love story begins in a barn. Callie grew up in the one-light town of Livingston, Louisiana, riding four wheelers, swimming in ponds and cheering on a competitive squad. “My mom always told me I was a weird mixture of a tomboy and a girly girl,” Callie explains. Charlie was born in New Orleans and then moved to a farm in Folsom on the Northshore. Charlie competes in horse shows and has five world championships in reining cow horse, ranch sorting and team penning. He says he owes all of his horsemanship skills to his step-dad, Mr. Bill Mayfield, who put him on the best of the best horses and sent him to the best trainers for mentoring. Callie and Charlie both graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with bachelor’s degrees set to pursue careers in education and business. However, life had other plans for their career paths and lead them straight back to the farm with their wedding event venue, The White Magnolia.

THEY BUILT A BARN When the couple began looking for wedding venues, they were stuck. “I knew I wanted a vintage, elegant, southern wedding, but I couldn’t find anything that fit the look we were going for,” Callie explained. Eventually, they had the crazy idea to build their own venue on a piece of Callie’s family’s well-manicured 110acre quarter horse and cattle farm in Kentwood. Charlie is a jack-of-all-trades and was able to do most of the construction himself and Callie had a steadfast vision and an eye for design.

18 SW Wedding Magazine | 2016/2017

SWS Mag_FC-22.indd 18

9/14/16 11:42 AM

They agreed to move forward with the idea and got to work! They put their blood, sweat and tears into the venue, working 18-hour days to build the space from the ground up in only seven months. Every detail of The White Magnolia was designed thoughtfully. The barn sits atop a hill which provides views of magnolia trees, open pasture, rolling hills, grazing cattle, oak trees and beautiful ponds. The ground they used to build the foundation became the pond that serves as the backdrop to the ceremony location and the pine beams that support the barn were cut from the family’s sawmill. To contribute to the venue’s vintage vibe, Callie discovered many of the windows, doors and light fixtures from an antique and salvage store in Texas, including the pièce de résistance of 10-foot antique wrought iron doors and cathedral style windows. She creatively sourced their remaining décor needs from a variety of do-it-yourself projects and thrifty finds, tailoring each piece for a picture-perfect space. “I think because I was preparing for my own wedding, I was extra conscious of the small details. I wanted every area to be unique and beautiful.” These details include beautifully furnished bride and groom’s suites for day-of lounging and preparations. The bride’s suite is complete with multiple vanities, full length mirrors, a bathroom, kitchenette and even finishing touches like vintage hangers for bridesmaid dresses. The groom’s suite takes on a more masculine vibe with leather sofas and a cow hide rug where the groomsmen can lounge or venture outdoors and fish in the three-acre stocked pond. The large interior of the venue reflects the elegant vintage ambiance Callie and Charlie intended. White washed walls and soaring vaulted ceilings are complemented by rustic pine beams and shabby-chic chandeliers. Brides can even use the impeccable round tables and wooden crossback chairs and vintage china curated by Callie for their wedding. French doors from the 7,000-square-foot venue opens out on both sides onto side porches. To the west, the manmade pond serves as a quaint

backdrop for an outdoor ceremony with a brick path meandering directly to a picturesque pavilion and ancient archway flanked by draped linens.

THEY MARRIED IN A BARN While Callie was busily building their dream wedding venue, there was also a wedding to plan! Despite her flawless taste and ability to create something out of nothing, Callie knew she couldn’t do it all on her own. “We were actually still finishing details like painting floor boards and laying sod on the morning of our wedding!” Callie and Charlie hired an event planner and a team of talented vendors for a wedding day that went off without a hitch.

CALLIE DANIELLE BOWLIN, daughter of Rick Bowlin, Janet Henderson Cagley and Michael Cagley, Sr., married Charles “Charlie” Richardson, Jr., son of Charles Richardson, Sr. and Jean Richardson and Danetta Comeaux and Bill Mayfield, on May 7, 2016 in a venue that they built with their own hands.

WHAT MADE YOUR WEDDING DAY SPECIAL? What wasn’t special? It was the day I got to marry my best friend. We spent seven months giving all we had, working our butts off to build the venue from the ground up. So just the fact that we actually pulled it off and were the first wedding in The White Magnolia was extra special.

DID YOU HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER? Yes, Angela Marie Events out of Baton Rouge. She is amazing. I could never have done it without her. It was stressful enough designing and building the venue. I told her what I wanted and showed her pictures. Then she executed it ten times better than anything I could have imagined!

HOW MANY DRESSES DID YOU TRY ON? I tried on probably 20 dresses, narrowed it down to five and then had a hard time choosing between two very different dresses. In the end, I went with the one that was the most comfortable.

SW Wedding Magazine | 2016/2017 21

It was a champagne slip dress with an ivory lace overlay and it made me feel beautiful.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT OF THE CEREMONY? My favorite moment of the ceremony was the look on Charlie’s face when he saw me coming down the aisle. I sure do love that man! He may seem tough, but he still cried when I walked down the aisle.

WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF THE RECEPTION? So hard to choose! One memorable moment was dancing with my Pawpaw in my Mimi’s wedding dress like he danced with her on their wedding night in 1957. It’s a toss-up between that and a karaoke sing-off between the groom and his groomsmen and bride with her bridesmaids.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE WEDDING DETAIL? So many details…so hard to choose. I think the most fun detail was our “brand” on everything, like our own logo. We are both “CR” and Charlie brands the livestock with a backwards C and R, so Angela had it created into a cute logo that we put on everything from signs, to koozies, cups and napkins. I also loved our sweet tea and lemonade station with gumbo and crawfish flavored popcorn and our favors with little pots of dirt and magnolia seeds.

HOW WAS THE CAKE? The wedding cake and groom’s cake were from The Cocoa Bean in Hammond. I wanted my cake to be simple with fresh flowers and it was so pretty and delicious!

DID YOU HAVE A GRAND EXIT? Yes, I changed into my grandmother’s wedding dress and cowboy boots for the last part of the reception and our family and friends lined up outside with sparklers as we made our way out to our 1959 baby blue Chevy truck. Once we made it down the driveway, we actually turned around and came back for a little more partying, but the “send off” was super fun and made for some great pictures.

New: Virgins, Saints & Angels jewels to complete my wedding look. Blue: I hand-stitched my husband’s uniform work patch with his last name on it onto the underside of my dress and showed it to him during our first look.

they were truly happy for Will and me.

HOW MANY DRESSES DID YOU TRY ON?

DID YOU HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER? No. I did most of the planning myself and knew the vision I was trying to create. However, our families were extremely helpful in pulling it all together, especially since most of the planning was done long distance from San Diego, where Will is stationed as a Captain in the Marine Corps.

I tried on a total of 15 to 18 dresses at four different stores. The entire selection process had to be done in just one day, and the dress I chose was one of the very last dresses I tried on.

WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF THE RECEPTION? Since Will wore his Marine Corps dress blues, we decided to do a military sword arch for our introduction into the reception. The venue had a beautiful staircase that made the perfect location for the arch. Will had six of his friends create the sword arch and we walked through it to the reception area. It was such a unique element that we wanted to add to the reception.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING STYLE IN THREE WORDS. Island Chic, Glam, Fun.

WHAT MADE YOUR WEDDING SPECIAL? Costa Rica holds a very special place in our heart for many reasons. It is the first place Paul and I got to know each other. We spent our first Christmas together there. I have gone there with my family for many years. And we went to a wedding there before we got engaged and just knew this place was where we wanted to have our celebration!

DID YOU HAVE A WEDDING PLANNER? We tried to do it ourselves, but the language barrier became a problem! I used a wedding planner through the Los Sueños Marriot Resort in Jaco, Costa Rica named Cassandra Azofeifa. Between sending a million Pinterest pictures and having her on the ground, it came out perfect!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS. My bridal gown was designed by Elie Saab. I felt it accentuated my femininity while still being sophisticated, airy and a little bit glam.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT OF THE RECEPTION? My favorite part of the ceremony was our first dance! We did not go traditional and just had so much fun with it. We could not stop smiling.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DETAIL? My favorite detail, besides the scenery, had to be our centerpieces that were built out of driftwood and had crystals and orchids hanging from the branches with glass vases at the bottom.

DID YOU HAVE A GRAND EXIT? We had an exit planned but Four Unplugged played until the resort basically shut us down, so we ended up on the stage, thanking all of our guests and then getting into a golf cart and rolling to our condo for the night!

5 Tips from a Professional Wedding Photographer On Your Wedding Day WRITTEN BY STEVE RANDON

AS A PHOTOGRAPHER

for over 20 years, I’ve learned a lot about making the wedding day run smoothly, as well as what to avoid. Here are a few tips to help you on the photography area of your planning:

1. EXPECT HAIR AND MAKEUP TO RUN OVER. Between your sister asking four times which pair of shoes you prefer and your mom asking the makeup artist to tone down the eye shadow a bit, a lot of little interruptions can add up. Plan ahead and build an extra hour into your schedule. The worst that happens is you end up finishing early and get to enjoy some quiet time with your best friends.

2. CONSIDER DOING A FIRST LOOK If I were to give one piece of advice to a couple it would be to strongly consider doing a First Look. A First Look is when the bride and groom see each other before the ceremony, have a few moments alone, and get their portraits taken. It is a time to get away from the craziness of the wedding day and spend time together just the two of you. I totally get the tradition of waiting until the bride walks down the aisle but if you’re prone to stress or anxiety especially, the First Look can be a calming and tone-setting alternative.

3. TRY AN UNPLUGGED CEREMONY— HAVE GUESTS PUT THE CELL PHONES AWAY How many times have you been at a wedding and seen multiple cell phones, selfie sticks and iPads popping up everywhere? This has become the norm in today’s society, so guests may not be aware that they are potentially ruining the professional shots you are paying good money for. Imagine: the bride is coming down the aisle with her father. Everyone stands to see her, then as I attempt to capture this exquisite moment, Aunt Sally with her large iPad leans out into the aisle to get her shot, totally blocking me as I try to get mine. Aunt Sally’s iPad photo is not the photo the couple wants to see on their mantelpiece for the next fifty years. The best way to get your money’s worth is to let everyone know that your photographer gets top priority.

4. BEFORE YOU BOOK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER, ASK TO SEE AN ENTIRE WEDDING As a professional photographer, I know how daunting a task editing can be. Some photographers may take a short cut and just pick a handful of their favorite images to edit and post them on his or her blog. Those may look great,

but what about the rest of them? The remaining images may be unedited and placed on a DVD. Make sure before you book your photographer to request to see an entire wedding in an online gallery to see the results of the photographer’s finished work.

5. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR We have all heard this saying before. This is especially true when it comes to wedding photography. When the wedding night has come to an end and everyone goes home afterward, what is left? The food will be gone, the alcohol consumed, the wedding dress will go in a box, and that will be that. When all is said and done, your wedding images will be there for you and your family to enjoy for generations to come. The brides who know this are the ones who set their budget high for quality professional photography coverage. Don’t cheap out on your wedding photographer. Spend the money, follow these tips, and live happily ever after! Steve Randon is the official cover photographer for Sophisticated Woman. Round:

The most popular and timeless choice, round diamonds account for 75 percent of all diamonds sold. Round diamonds are brilliant cut and have 58 facets, maximizing their sparkle factor. If you are unsure what type of diamond you or your partner prefers, a round diamond is a sure bet. Celebrity proponent: Mila Kunis

The second most popular shape, after the round diamond. The traditionally square or slightly rectangular, four-sided, pyramid shape is cut with many intricate facets creating lots of sparkle. A princess cut must be set with prongs protecting the corners and is beautiful in a solitaire setting. Celebrity proponent: Hilary Duff

Emerald:

The name stems from the most traditional cut for emerald gemstones. Rectangular with long step-cut facets framing the open table (the face of the diamond), an emerald cut emphasizes the clarity of a diamond. Celebrity proponent: Reese Witherspoon

Cushion:

The cushion cut is the perfect inbetween of the princess and the round. Square or rectangular with rounded pillow-like corners, its large facets create a brilliant sparkle. Celebrity proponent: Giuliana Rancic

Oval:

Much like the classic round, an oval diamond has a beautiful brilliance created from intricate facets. Oval diamonds can accentuate long fingers or create the illusion of slender fingers for smaller hands. Celebrity proponent: Blake Lively

Marquise:

Like the oval, a marquise diamond’s elongated shape can make fingers appear long and slender. Their brilliant cut can maximize carat weight and the interesting shape is perfect for those with a flair for the dramatic. Celebrity proponent: Catherine Zeta Jones

Pear:

An ideal combination of a round and marquise diamond, the pear-shaped diamond is pointed at one end. We love this unique shaped diamond in a solitaire setting. Celebrity proponent: Victoria Beckham

Radiant:

This square or rectangular diamond is defined by its brilliant-cut facet pattern in both the crown (bottom) and pavilion (top) of the diamond, creating a hybrid between a cushion and a princess cut. Celebrity proponent: Khloe Kardashian

Heart:

A unique and obvious symbol of romantic love, the heart-shaped diamond has yet to make a comeback as a popular engagement ring style. Celebrity proponent: Lady Gaga

50 th

Anniversary Vow Renewals WRITTEN BY ANNA LEDONNE

SOPHISTICATED WOMAN MAGAZINE’S senior account executive Gwen Anderson recently celebrated a momentous landmark wedding anniversary that she and her husband Jerry celebrated with friends and family. Congratulations Gwen! Gwendolyn Theresa Schank and Jerry W. Anderson were married on August 7, 1965. The ceremony was held at Immaculate Conception Church where Gwen was baptized and confirmed. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a surprise celebration and vow renewal ceremony held at the Monteleone Hotel, the same place where they were engaged 51 years ago. WHAT MADE YOUR WEDDING DAY SO SPECIAL? We had a champagne fountain and I had never seen one before then. Fabulous food, everything that I love to eat was served. This was not just our wedding. It was also a going away party, as we were moving to Homestead, Florida, right after our reception. Jerry was in the U.S. Army and that’s where he was stationed. We honeymooned on Miami Beach.

THE SURPRISE For their 50th Anniversary, Gwen and Jerry left to celebrate their anniversary with a Caribbean cruise followed by a night on the Gulf Coast. Meanwhile, Gwen and Jerry’s friends and family organized an anniversary celebration and vow renewal ceremony, unbeknownst to the couple. They were told to wear white and meet for a champagne toast at their friend’s condo—a simple celebration. Upon arrival, Gwen and Jerry realized their son Chris and some of their friends had scavenged their house for memorabilia in their absence and set up a surprise party. All of their friends wore white and the condo was decked out with decorations, photos, flowers, a white rose bouquet, music, food, gold rimmed champagne glasses, and even their original cake topper. However, this was only the beginning of the surprises to come. “I actually thought we were just going to be toasting champagne,” said Gwen. “I thought why are we going outside? A party bus was waiting for us and the bus was filled with champagne, my favorite music and decorated with photos of our lives. I still didn’t know where we were going. We started driving over the Causeway, and by then I was really confused. After a few miles passed, I thought I figured it out and sure enough, we ended up at The Monteleone in New Orleans.” Everyone was led into a special room where the party continued with a beautiful cake, decorations and champagne. There was one more surprise—Gwen and Jerry’s grandson, Chase, performed the vow renewal ceremony. “The most touching moment was when Chase called everyone together. He did the most fabulous job and we were so proud of him. There were tears of joy from everyone as we stated yes to all the vows. What a great family and family of friends we have. Thanks to all of them for making a special day even more special.” SW Wedding Magazine | 2016/2017 37

Cake Pulls

... A SOUTHERN TRADITION

THE CAKE PULL IS A SOUTHERN TRADITION that originated in Victorian times and is a local favorite amongst brides. Small charms are attached to a ribbon and placed inside the wedding cake. Before the cake is cut, the bridesmaids join the bride and groom to pull a charm from the cake. Each unique charm has its own meaning. The pull makes a wonderful keepsake for the bridesmaids.

Memorable moments “The most memorable thing on our wedding day was that right after our reception we packed up our wedding gifts and headed to the airport to move to Homestead, Florida where Jerry was being stationed in the US Army.” - Gwen

Your wedding day can be long, exhausting, joyous and most of all—memorable! Producing a wedding publication made us a little sentimental about our own wedding days. So we decided to share one of the most memorable moments from our own weddings.

“I love being the one behind the lens capturing memorable moments for others.” - Nick

“I remember walking down the aisle and I couldn’t even see Vinnie because I had so many tears in my eyes. When I finally got up there, he was crying more than I was!” -Anna L “I couldn’t hold back the tears watching my oldest friend get married earlier this year! It was a dream wedding and I felt so honored to be a part of so much love and joy.” - Jessie “Because it was our second marriage, Walt and I decided to elope to Las Vegas. We stopped at this pink Chapel of Love, but were both too embarrassed to get out of the car! We found a more suitable location – the “We’ve Only Just Begun” Wedding Chapel inside one of the hotels. We collapsed with laughter as we raced into the elevator after the ceremony.” - Joanne

“Seeing one of your favorite people find a love that most people only hope for is truly an inspiring thing. Being able to be a part of one of my best friend’s special days is a moment in my life I will never forget!” - Anna K

SWS Mag_23-BC.indd 39

“It was an honor to be in my dear friend’s wedding and an experience I will cherish forever!” -Katherine “Once the anxiety faded, I had the best time at our wedding, I was marrying my best friend and we all celebrated, danced and ate cake until the early hours of the morning.” - Dianne

“I remember my first dance with Steve was to Come Away With Me by Nora Jones. It was such a special moment that signified us starting our lives together.” - Corrinn

“I remember looking out from the window in the bridal suite at the Elm’s Mansion at the wedding ceremony down below at all of our friends and family sitting there waiting for me. I didn’t want the moment to end because I knew the moment I walked downstairs everything was about to change!” - Lorie
