PYCHO - SELF PORTRAIT
VISUALIZATION OF OBJECTS
MEDIA: PENCIL An individual project composed of manual drawing of animate and inanimate object using different grades pencils. Techniques of manual rendering such as hatching and cross hatching are applied to achieve different effects and shades.
MEDIA: OIL PASTEL The creation of this project involved the knowledge of choosing the right colour based on its symbolism and meanings. Different colours can interpret different moods, environments, emotions, and feelings. This portrait was produced based on my personal character which is cool & calm. By taking reference of an artist, Christopher Nolasco, the portrait was paint and coloured using dark colours which intercept with each other. In Nolasco’s paintings, the main subject always have the same or almost the same tone of colour with the background.
DRAWING COMPOSITION
MEDIA: COLOUR PENCIL This project required me to select a historical or significant building to be composed in an A2 paper. I chose Alhambra as it is known for its historical significant and water gardens. The garden were surrounded by series of column decorated by corbel employed in traditional Islamic and Persian architecture. Technique of using monochromatic colour was applied.
MALACCA HERITAGE TRAIL
MEDIA: WATER COLOUR, PEN This project recorded the differences of influence in various styles of architecture in Malacca as I went to the field trip. The drawings were said to achieve visual balance and reflect the spirit of the place and the urban context of heritage area in Malacca. The size of images, colours, how the images were captures, how the images were arranged, all of these aspects play an important role in producing a good urban spatial sequence. This drawing was completed using water color washed technique and the images were outlined with pen.
DRAFTING
MEDIA: DRAWING PEN, PENCIL I learned techniques of doing measured drawings and drafting using pen and pencil. Different media needs different techniques to produce lines of different weightage, shades and hatch. Lettering and scale in drawing also being implemented during drafting. All drawings are drafted on tracing paper using drawing or technical pen.
MODEL MAKING
MEDIA: POLYSTYRENE & PAPER This project required me to design a small sculpture based on a natural element. The process of getting the final outcome was taught which includes mock-up, development model, study model and final model. Choice of material also play an important role in representing the scupltural characteristics. I folded plain paper for mock-up. Then, I used wire and plastic sheet while developing the form. Finally, polystyrene wrapped with coloured papers were used.
PATTERN, VISUAL & TACTILE TEXTURE
FORM, SPACE & ORDER
GROUP WORK OF 4 Producing presentation on circulation through a space with reference of Form, Space & Order book and case study of Kuala Lumpur Bird’s Park. During the trip, observations of surrounding’s circulation, natural environment and architecture are recorded.
MEDIA: POSTER COLOR (P1) , CREPE PAPER (P2) In this project, I need to choose one poem based on nature which I chose a poem about life of a maple tree. This project consists of two phase. The first phase is developing one singla basic motif/element that portrayed the poem of nature. After creating a basic element, manipulation and arrangement of the basic motif through overlapping, rotation and repetition is carried out to create a complex motif. Thus , my pattern is finalized. After that, experiment of colour was carried out to get the best combination. The second phase is based on the motif/element that had been derived in phase 1, a tactile textural composition need to be arranged in 3 dimensional form. Techniques of model making were implemented. This project helps in the understanding of the basic design elements and creative use of them.
LONELINESS
MEDIA: HARD CLOTH, WET TISSUE, LIGHTING As continuation from pattern, visual & tactile texture, enhancement of the designed space were carried out by injecting mood. The mood which I extracted from the poem is loneliness. Loneliness includes alone/solitude, sad, separated, trapped, empty, odd, afraid, scary, and quiet. The stripes represent numbers of leaves of the tree. Rainbow-colours shows that the leaves’ colour change every season, giving an image of cheerfulness. The inside was dark in colour but a small solitude light lighting the interior symbolizes the soul of a lonely tree which always there through out the four seasons while other trees die.
SEASON’S CRIB
An observatory space called iHabitat. Design of a single functional space with the understandng of spaces typologies and basic structural construction and materials
SEASON’S CRIB
This imaginary living unit and its function are connected to the poem chosen. This habitat purposely designed to cater a person who wants to observed the changes of maple trees throughout four seasons. Due to different of temperature and weather conditions, the habitat is designed to be adapted in all four seasons with the help of mechanical and materials technology. The material chose as the structures is balsa wood which is said can withstand winter conditions. Due to the winter which is a critical seasons, the designed can contained water and heat through the energy safe bank which collect the energy during other seasons. The observer may not need to go out from the space frequently since all basic needs are well provided in the space - water and heater.
EXPLORATION OF FORM
The maples’ observer may stayed in the habitat throughout the four seasons to experience the seasons. Therefore, the design should be sustainable and durable. During other seasons, the awning-hopper wall system can be opened to provide 360 degree full view of surrounding
CUBIC DEN
An amusement structure. Creation of a single functional space specifically an amusement or fun structure integrating the principle of anthropometric and ergonomics
CUBIC DEN CLIENT: MYSELF
This project is my favourite. It is about designing a space that people can experience enjoyment and entertainment. The most exciting part is the client of this project is myself and the context can be choose according to my preference. For me, amusement structure is the place where I can do what I favour without any distraction; where I can hide, relax, being in solitary and quiet environment. Other activities that amuse me is seeing soothing sceneries, reading novels and sleeping. The structure was designed to achieve certain privacy and amusement for me.
The context that I chose is on a slope of a hill facing the sea and sky. The place is quiet, tranquil, high, close to nature and comfort. The issue that may arise from the chosen location are uneven surface due to the slope and risk of falling due to high location. The form was derived from a basic form of square being given a volume, interlocking to create different quality of spaces. Activities that are included help in determining on how the form developed. All the activities were derived from the movement that may take action when we are in a tunnel.
DRAWINGS
SHEER LODGE
A retreat home. Design of a compact retreat home for 4-persons getaway which consists of basic functional living spaces and space for professional activities
CLIENT The choice of client was based on the students’ preferences. I chose Nigella Lawson as the main client. Sub-client consists of her family members which includes her husband, her son and her daughter. NIGELLA LAWSON (50yrs old) - Food writer & broadcaster - Loves to cook and watch movies & football
SHEER LODGE
In this project, the spaces designed were based on the clients’ personalities and requirements. The spaces are to be organized using relevant design approach or concept. The basic principle of anthropometric and ergonomics are to be applied in the design. The context was located along the river bank in Janda Baik, Pahang. I chose a specific area which exhibit a sense of privacy and exclusive. The site has both beautiful scenery and hidden area from public views which ensure a good seclusion from hectic environment.
CHARLES SAATCHI (65yrs old) - Art collector - Enthusiast for collection - Notorious recluse PAUL BRUNO (10yrs old) - Student - Loves to watch movies and swimming COSIMA THIMASINA (17yrs old) - Student - Likes nature & birds and reading
CONCEPTUAL & PLANNING The spaces are developed from the basic personalities for each character which consist of gathering area, kitchen, outdoor area, resting area, cleansing area and special area. The spaces’ size are designed in accordance to the priority of the space to be used.
DESIGN APPROACH U-SHAPED PLAN giving an inward focus. Toward open ends, field become extroverted hence increase the ability to capture or define outdoor space. It also creates a point of focus as well as greater sense of closure which hide the interior from public views yet open to nature. OPEN PLAN CONCEPT gather the family members even when they do different activies at the same time. There’s no solid physical separator between spaces. The spaces are being defined through different level of spaces and different material or texture of the spaces. GEOMETRY SHAPE of square gives a pure and stable space arrangement. Collision of the geometry create a focal point, visual supremacy and dominance in the space.
CULTURE OF CARVING
Design of a cultural gallery for National Geographic society in an urban context - city of Kuala Lumpur
CULTURE OF CARVING
This project required me to design a gallery for the purpose of exhibition while attracting the learned, cultured, educated and the adventurers into the city.
SPACE PLANNING & PLAN DEVELOPMENT
The planning of spaces and ambience are arranged according to the process when carving a craft, The musem started with a rough and rigid environment. As we go deeper into the museum, the environment is getting refine and smooth.
The idea of creating a museum of carving art is due to Malay’s earliest culture. It’s said that wood carving is one of the earliest traditional culture that exist in Malaysia.
CLIENT One of the largest non-profit scientific and educational institutions in the world. Its domain includes geography, archaeology and natural science, the promotion of environmental and historical conservation.

RHIZOPHORA
This project involved designing a pit stop club for National Geographic members to intermingle, change ideas and have earnest and intelligent discourse.
PLANNING DEVELOPMENT
The significant existence of mangrove swamp at the site context lead to my concept which was developed from the mimicry of Rhizohoraceae, a type of mangrove family. Due to its characteristics and abilities to withstand the ‘violent’ life along the beach, the type was chosen as the design basis.
The space organization follow the arrangement of Rhizophoraceae swamp along the beach which resulting in a linear organization. The form was developed based on the root of the swamp which act as a shelter for fishes. Open and transparent, yet protected from wind and wave danger. Thus, many windows and openings are designed to allow natural ventilation and lighting into the spaces.

EXCHANGE NEXUS
This project is a 2-person group project. With the groupmate, we decided on developing the courtyard as an inspiring place for interchanging of ideas and knowledge knowing the context as the heart of our faculty. Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Surveying of UiTM’s courtyard has witnessed a series of event taking place that range from highly roofless to rented tents assembly. The project intended to diminish the mess of non-planned logistics blocking the pedestrian ways to continue despite the schooling session.
