Welcome back to another Synergy Australia issue. The current economic climate continues to be recessive, and Australia is not exempt from the continuing global post Covid fallout of inflationary prices and reduced consumer spending on discretionary items such as pleasure product. Many Australian Retailers we have spoken to are in the same position of just holding out until the economy improves whilst tweaking product ranges and price points. We hope this issue can bring some minor distraction from these pressing and difficult times.
Swiss Navy’s Director of Brand Development Dr Sunny Rodgers, has penned an insightful article on personal lubricants and menopause, highlighting the customer needs and how Retailers can tailor their approach in order to achieve the best outcome for both parties.
Synergy spoke with Taslim Parsons, General Manager of the Share Satisfaction brand from New Zealand company Wholesale Solutions. It’s an interesting read on creating brands, bringing them to market and driving sales.
Synergy also met US-based adult performer Emma Hix in Las Vegas who gave us a personal profile and we caught up with Fiona from the Queensland based Loveheart chain of adult stores.

Sexpo Australia Cancelled following Collapse of Australian Exhibition Group Pty Ltd
A creditor filed an application with the Supreme Court of Victoria for a Winding Up Order against AEG, which is a legal request to shut down a company due to unpaid debts.
The matter was heard and that same day, AEG informed interested parties that the upcoming Australian events, including the Oct. 4-6 Adelaide expo, were postponed indefinitely.
“The company has begun the process of entering into administration as the deadlock and legal fees make it impossible for the business to continue operating,” the company told exhibitors.
Sexpo founder David Ross, who sold the company to AEG in 2019, expressed his dismay at the situation.
“After the 2019 sale of Sexpo Australia to Australian Exhibition Group Pty. Ltd., I no longer have any interest in the local event, but still, it’s a crying shame to see what’s happened to my baby,” he said, adding, “I have received numerous phone calls from disgruntled exhibitors, telling me that Sexpo Australia (AEG) was still sending out invoices and reminders, and accepting payments until at least midday on Sept. 23, just hours before the postponement notice was sent.”
Maxine Fensom, owner of the affiliated Sexpo U.S.A., clarified that her organization is not connected to AEG but noted similar complaints from Australian exhibitors.
“The action against Australian Exhibition Group Pty. Ltd. (AEG) has no effect on Sexpo U.S.A. operations as AEG has no interest in the U.S.A. Sexpo trademark,” she said. “Exhibitors and the public are equally disgruntled due to the last-minute nature of the cancellation, and the lack of communication from Sexpo Australia’s management, leaving them out of pocket for all the expenses associated with traveling to and exhibiting at a major event.
“The brand may now be too damaged to consider buying the trademark, but the name of the event is less important than giving the public what they want from an adult exhibition, so we are also considering launching under another name.”
European Court Rules that LELO Provided Incorrect
and
Misleading Information
In September, in a preliminary injunction proceeding, the District Court of Hildesheim ruled in favour of EIS, confirming that LELO had included incorrect and misleading statements in a press release about the status of the infringement proceedings against LELO products.
As reported previously, the Düsseldorf District Court ruled that the LELO’s productsSona, Sila, and Enigma - violate the patents of EIS GmbH. As a result, LELO is required to cease distributing the infringing products within the court’s jurisdiction, provide EIS with information about all distributed
products and their recipients, and pay damages for the distribution of patent-infringing products.
Previously, in October, the European Patent Office had rejected the opposition filed by LELO Europe GmbH against EIS’s patent. LELO has appealed both the decision of the European Patent Office and the Düsseldorf District Court. In regard to the incorrect statements, the European Patent Office Opposition Division confirmed the validity of the patent EP ‘297 in question. LELO has the right to file an immediate appeal against the Hildesheim court’s preliminary injunction.
EIS is encouraged by the recent decision of the Hildesheim court to offer former distributors of LELO, as well as other companies that respect Satisfyer’s patent rights, the opportunity to collaborate in promoting and distributing Satisfyer products.

How and when did you start?
Wholesale Solutions has been operating since 2012, but we only launched Share Satisfaction in 2020. We started the brand because in dealing with retailers all over Australasia, we noticed that there was a gap in the market for beautiful, well-made products that wouldn’t break the bank.
What can you tell us about your premises.
Our warehouse is huge, it’s 3500m2 and we carry over 45,000 lines. Our systems are bespoke and incredibly efficient – we’re very proud of our high fulfilment rates, which are currently at around 89-92%.
We dropship for about 80 per cent of our customers, which is awesome. We started doing this
in 2020 just as Covid lockdowns started. This ensured that our customers could still run their businesses even if they couldn’t open their stores. We’ve continued to do this as it’s been so popular and a number of our customers don’t hold their own inventory, they just dropship through us. It’s seamless.
Sales channels?
We sell to retailers all over Australasia. I have personally visited most of our customers, helped them with sales and marketing promotions and advised them on their merchandising, brand, stock and websites. It’s great to see each of them succeed.
We carry all the main international brands as well as a few new players into the market, and have developed our own brand, Share Satisfaction.
In terms of growth, where do you see yourselves now?
This year has seen some stagnation of growth, as it’s been a tough year for everyone economically. However, I have faith that the market is still strong and we’re hoping that there will be more growth next year.
How is the brand is looking to break into the competitive Australian market?
We believe our products are fresh and innovative. We wanted our toys to be more of a lifestyle purchase. The packaging is gorgeous, and it honestly feels like you’re receiving a gift when you open the box.
We already have Australian retailers on board and want to grow our customer base there. We know that some of our products, such as the O-Pod, are innovative and no-one else is making them yet.
How do you promote and create awareness?
We attend trade shows for our retailers and help them market our ranges. We have in-house photography that is beautiful and available to all our customers, as well as instore display material and training for retail staff.
We’ve used influencers to promote Share Satisfaction and have received a great deal of press coverage in mainstream media about our products and team.
What percentage of your product do you think is sold online versus in brick and mortar stores?
I would say it’s probably 60:40 in terms of online vs brick and mortar stores.
What can you tell us about working with retailers?
I love working with our retailers. They’re awesome and I really do enjoy getting to know their businesses and requirements, and eventually even helping them grow.
Each one is different, and they all have varying needs.
What are some of your bestselling items?
Kama has been our number one best-selling toy since its launch in 2020. It’s a fantastic product and we’ve worked hard to promote it and build its reputation.
The fact that it delivers every time is amazing! We have over 500 five-star reviews for Kama.
You have a special line specifically for pelvic floor issues called Eyden.
48% of women in New Zealand and 51% of women in Australia suffer from pelvic wellness issues. It’s very common, but there are limited products in the market to alleviate these issues.
Eyden was created in conjunction with a pelvic physio to fill that gap. Developed with the user in mind, the Eyden range is designed to be unintimidating and easy to use.
We also partnered with community foundations of NZ to donate $1 from the sale of each product to go to women’s wellness charities. I’m very proud of this range, and it was a real passion project for me.
What about the newest kid on the Share Satisfaction block, the O-Pod?
The O-Pod really is very cool. I can’t wait to distribute it to our retailers in Australia and New Zealand.
We’ve done the testing with one of our retailers and the product is flying! It’s petite, powerful and ohso-beautiful. The public love it.
Are there any specific current trends?
Smaller, quieter toys seem to be really popular at the moment. Fantasy and monster dildos are also selling incredibly well, it’s wonderful to see some of the awesome and wild designs that are out there.
It also seems like glass is also making a comeback. So many gorgeous glass toys out there, and our own Lucent range does incredibly well.

We started with Share Satisfaction and Play. The other brands grew around finding amazing manufacturers that specialized in specific categories and us assessing and evaluating where there were gaps in the market.

Kama is our standout best seller, it’s a dual stimulation toy and has been an incredible product, it’s firmly a customer favourite. Some of the others are:

Also having a low fault rate is so important. There are some great products out there, but some have fault rates and returns. We work really hard to ensure that our products have low fault rates.
Tell us about the manufacturing process.
It’s a lengthy process from start to finish. And it doesn’t stop when the product arrives.
We build the product personality, brand and imagery, and we develop all marketing material.
Often I’ll have retailers say ‘I can get this direct for less.’ Yes you can, but it’s not a brand that the public recognise.
How do you handle industry compliance?
Obviously these are very intimate products, so we ensure that all of our products are manufactured by regulated companies. We’ve ensured that they meet New Zealand compliance standards, and our lubricants and condoms are FDA- and CE -approved.
We have also verified that the factories are acting ethically. There are a lot of manufacturers out there, but I believe we work with some of the best in the world.
