Artist's House Assemblage of Studio, Gallery, and Living

FINAL MODEL

Finished in the first studio in freshman year. By using the architectual verbs, interlock and shift, the primary design intention is to seperate three functions to different parts and leave the gaps as circulations. Taking advantages from these irregular shapes, a pravte circulation and a public circulation is formed natually without additional walls.

FURTHER EXPLORATION + DRAWING

Two circulations are provided in the model. The public one faces south and is easy to see. The frame structure is always connected and form the blcony on the upper floor. The house has strong greomtry connection with its site. The mean volumes of the model are formed by shift, and a secondary shift is also shown.

Natural Order Renovation of Community Library in Downtown Syracuse This project is both an expansion and renovation of a small community library in Syracuse neighborhood. Instead of making an outstanding architecture, this project tried to blend in its surrounding. So, by studying the common architectural order of the neighborhood and considering the original shape of the old library, the square block and the column grids helped to form balance on both sides. With a large gathering space covered by shell, more functional programs are pushed into the basement.

Research : Post-Nature in Architecture POST_NATURAL Museum Perot Museum

MAAT Museum

Speculation

MAAT Museum is a museum that integrate the site, landscape and the building itself which is one of the main analysis in our research. The threshold of publicness seemed hard to define in this building as the architects tried to design it as a smooth floor through in and out of the building.

A Natural History Museum Abstract from Animal Skeleton and Plant Skins Rooop of the building is the one main component where visitors can view the Tangus River and the cityscape view. It is a crical connecon relang to the site. The struture of the building which seem overwhelming on the extrior is one of themain feature in our research as programs are shied to lower to fit the requirements and many other condions. In realaon to the facade, the materiality that reflect the light from the river were designed to allow natural lightning and sustainbility. The panel that used on the facade also reflect the tradiditon in Portugal as the materials are locally tradional material where the architects aspire from the local culture.

Post-natural is a term used to describe an object, a condition or an action that highly involved with human intention and technology to enable it to happen. Post-natural is a strange and beautiful stage which has some perspective of surrealism. It reveals human desires while creating fresh things that do not exist before, and it is not a void imagination comes from nowhere but is inspired by nature. Thus, there is an ambiguous territory that people not sure is post-natural about the object human create from imagination, or the action they made up a new thing, or maybe even the whole idea of thinking human can modify natural. 100

Ground Plan

Perot Museum of Nature and Science is a miniaturized arficial Texas. It uses various topologies within Texas to allow people to walk through Texas in a shorter amount of me and distance. It aims to educate and blend in with the landscape of Texas through texture, material, and circulaon.

MAAT Museum is a museum that integrate the site, landscape and the building itself which is one of the main analysis in our research. The threshold of publicness seemed hard to define in this building as the architects tried to design it as a smooth floor through in and out of the building.

Perot museum has two different main secon which is the north and south secon. In the north secon, there are less dense programs in order to fit in the main atrium circulaon. In this secon, its the most open and most sunlight area comparing to the other secon. On the other side, most of the main exhibion in that area are situated so naturally, they are designed as enclosed area. From the facade view, there are more open area on the lower and uppermost level where the lobby and offices were placed as they needed natural light.

Rooop of the building is the one main component where visitors can view the Tangus River and the cityscape view. It is a crical connecon relang to the site. The struture of the building which seem overwhelming on the extrior is one of themain feature in our research as programs are shied to lower to fit the requirements and many other condions.

Relang this to the back of house design where the architects designed back of house area to be on the lowest and uppermost two floors. One of the intresng design is the half level of each floor where it cannot be accessible by most people and only workers which is an intelligent move to design the back of house.

In realaon to the facade, the materiality that reflect the light from the river were designed to allow natural lightning and sustainbility. The panel that used on the facade also reflect the tradiditon in Portugal as the materials are locally tradional material where the architects aspire from the local culture.

To me post-natural starts with human’s desire. It is our imagination, intention, and ambition to involve in the natural. It is about the happening of post-natural idea, the action to practice post-natural theory, the intention to make imagination become true. A post-natural museum is a place to enlighten people with innovative post-natural ideas, a place to see the potency of putting theories into practices. There will be fresh ideas and experiments happening here every day. Sure, there will be many failures, but it is important to encourage people to explore a new territory. galley
