D&N LIVESTOCK ANGUS BULL SALE

Page 1

A BIG PICTURE OUTLOOK.

WELCOME.

We would like to welcome everyone to our annual spring bull sale February 26, 1:00 pm here on the farm at Peebles sk. There will be a complimentary lunch served at noon.

We have 90 black angus two year old bulls on offer that we are excited about. Starting off there are some unique opportunities such as, the Lot 1 bull is a son of the LLB 14D Thunderbird 465J who was the lead off and high selling bull from the 2022 LLB Production sale. SAV Renown sons are getting harder to find and there are two on offer, lot 2 full brother to the high seller from our 2023 sale and lot 3 is a full brother to JL renown 7110.

There are 20 sons of SAV American Made 0079, a bull we plan on using heavy again this spring because of his ability to add thickness and sired the heaviest group of 2025 calves. Also 19 sons from Deer Valley Growth Fund who is an outcross pedigree for us here. Growth Fund has a moderate birth weight and still adds the pounds. HF Alcatraz seen heavy use in our AI program 3 years ago and the result of adding him to the heifer program paid off. There are 21 sons that are hard not to stop and take a second look at. Like previous years there is numerous sons and grandson of SAV Rainfall 6846.When selecting the bulls that will be offered to our fellow cattleman, we consider the following factors. Longevity, calving ease, growth, foot/leg, overall structure and frame size. To ensure that these bulls will enhance and move your program forward in the years to come we ensure the bull comes from a cow or cow family that has a proven track record and is flawless in there previous offspring. Our bulls have never been creep fed. From weaning they go on a backgrounding ration till may. From there they will go to pasture. They come off grass in October.

Bulls were weaned on October 17, 2024.

The sale will also be broadcasted on DLMS and the videos of the bulls can be viewed on CattleVids.

Feel free to come for a tour at anytime, call or text one of us here at D&N. T Bar C and DLMS will also be able to help with any questions about the offering.

All of us on the T Bar C crew put in our fair share of windshield time; which provides ample miles to plan and reflect. One of these drives have led to the conclusion that while it may not be a certified tourist destination, Peebles Saskatchewan could be considered the historic epicenter of quality Angus genetics at staggering quantities. When you drive up the laneway and onto the D & N homestead, there is just simply cattle everywhere you look. Each and every member of the Rajotte family are true cattle people right to their core, understanding and thriving on both the big picture outlook that is crucial to thrive in the business, but also in managing the day-to-day sweat equity needed to last for generations.

Running one of the most intense AI programs you will come across, the family puts through in excess of 2000 head themselves. This strategy has yielded consistency, uniformity, and elevation in terms of both phenotype and number profiles within the bulls on offer. When you run cattle in volume like these people do, you discover very quickly what works and what doesn’t. They implement one of the best and strictest culling processes, no weaknesses or shortcomings are allowed. You can be rest

assured that not only is your bull going to be held to the highest of standards, but he will be backed by an incredibly worthy and productive dam. The Thunderbird son leading the charge this year has certainly garnered attention, he puts forward a great build, calving ease benefits, and a very solid number profile. The pedigrees featured here include the mainstay sire groups at D & N; including Rainfall, Growth Fund and Renown, but also the addition of a very strong group of American Made sons that offer mass and pounds. Whether you are in the market for a heifer or cow bull, I would strongly urge you to study these pages.

The D & N crew don’t leisurely stroll to their next destination, they run. That said, they are also the most down to earth and genuinely customer service oriented people you will have the pleasure of meeting. We highly encourage your visit and participation on sale day, check out the offering, visit with the family, and have a slice of Terry’s pie! Please reach out if we can be of any assistance in making your selections!

BEN WRIGHT

A high capacity, big-boned, deep middled Thunderbird son that has been a serious topic of conversation at the ranch for valuable he will be when it comes time to breed open heifers this Spring! Going back to 3G Thunder Bird on the top side and 5T Power Chip on the bottom, calving ease comes custom built in the pedigreee. His number profile is extremely balanced, ranking in the top 5% of the breed for calving ease, and top 20% for yearling weight. I would also like to note his top 4% rank in milk, we predict his daughters will be the right kind. We feel he certainly demands a second look, but we’ll encourage you anyway.

The resulting progeny from embryos that were purchased from our great friends the Deslippe family of Meadow Bridge Angus have really impressed us. The bottom side pf his pedigree is star studded, with 114L’s grandam being a maternal sister to S A V Jesse James. 9674 herself is moderate famed with lots of rib, which she was happy to share here. Not only do we love the phenotype here, we expect growth and pounds added when it comes to progeny.

It sure is good to be #1. This Bronc son ranks in the top 1% of the breed for WW and YW, which is combined with a highly respectable BW EPD and modest 73 lb actual. He is an extremely long sided individual with a huge calving ease upside.

If all calves could come small and then just grow like weeds from there, raising cattle would come with a whole lot less pressure and more profit. This guy is set up to accomplish just that. His number package is solid across the board, in the top 15% for CE, WW, and YW. Raised by a first calf

The Evening Tinge cow family can do no wrong. Lot 10 is a maternal brother to D & N Montana 26J, who was a high seller in our inaugural bull sale to Josh Herauf for $13,000. Another maternal brother by Bloodline sells as Lot 50, 5110 is flat out gorgeous with a perfect udder. Calves out of 46L will pound down scales.

American Made not only went out and did the job we expected and hoped from him, but surpassed it with flying colours. This guy is a prime example, he is a meat wagon with extra bone. If you go back a little further and study the pedigree here, there is a bit of a unique differentiation. Not only do we have breed legends such as Density and Bismarck on the top side, 52L’s grandam Madonna 243F brings a typey twist with GQ and Style. Maybe that is making a short story long....but we just love how he is made. Extremely deep and soggy sided with a nice herd bull head.

S

New for the 2025 bull sale, we have provided carcass data on all of the bulls being offered. This meat wagon is tied for first when it comes to estimated yield. We feel that keeping the end product that we are raising in mind is imperative to success. This cow bull is the type to go on and make calves that thrive and put your bottom line in the green.

If we were playing favorites, Lot 13 would come out on top for everybody around the farm. He is wide and three dimensional no matter what angle you study him from; thick topped with lots of center body. Progeny should take off like rockets when you study his top 4% WW number. To top it all off, disposition wise he is a friend to all.

We sound like a broken record, but these American Made calves are so consistent when it comes to being well made cattle with pounds. Lot 15 is part of the three way tie for first when it come to Est Yield, and has an extremely high REA.

If you are on the hunt for an American Made son that is slightly more moderated in terms of his birth weight EPD and actual, look no further then this hairy, stout made, big-boned rascal.

This guy is a challk full of meat and muscle, just look at that extra shape in a moderate framed package. These Clegg cows can get it done.

LOT 22

D AND N AMERICAN MADE 204L

This entire spread in the catalogue is a testament to what the Clegg cows can do. Lots 20, 21, and 22 are all 3/4 brothers, and boy are they peas in a pod. Lots of hair, lots of meat, masculine good looks, and big timber underneath them. When we look at the scanned carcass data, Lot 22 is right near the top of the entire offering for both REA and estimated yield.

We would consider Lot 23’s dam to be the prototype for an ideal Angus female. She raised a maternal brother to by Growth Fund that sold for $10,000 to Josh Herauf in 2022.

LOT 26 D AND N AMERICAN MADE 855L

LOT 28

Take everything you could want in terms of pedigree and cow power, and times it by two. These full brothers are backed by the Trojan Erica cow family that has anchored the great Meadow Bridge herd in Ontario for the last 10 years. 707E herself is a past $32,500 high seller to Bucksnort Ranch in Tennessee in the always hot Autumn Angus Classic Sale. These bulls are designed for the real world, thick made and robust in terms of body shape, lots of muscle, and extra bone. In terms of carcass quality they are off the charts. Lot 28 puts up the highest score in marbling for the entire offering, and the fourth overall REA in a splitting hairs group.

You couldn’t draw a masculine herd bull silhouette better then this big ribbed, good headed individual’s. His more modest BW to big ADJ WW spread is certainly appealing. And it goes without saying...any time you see that Resource influence on the bottom side, you know you’re gonna get somewhere good.

LOT 32 D AND N GROWTH FUND 457L

An athletic build and nice extension throughout spells out longevity. He’ll throw good ones long into the future, and look good doing it.

LOT 33

A curve bending mating between Growth Fund and the breed legend Bismarck. Like we said earlier, with inputs always on the upswing and margins only getting tighter, a bulll that can sire calves that come easy and require minimal effort and resources to gain (and therefore more money in your jeans) he is worth his weight in gold. We like his soggy made and stout build with an upheaded look.

Once again, a curve bending Growth Fund bull that put up a lower BW and big WW spread. Just an extremely solid bull on all four corners with some extra extension to his side. He is appealing from every angle that you

You can see in the photo how solid he is in phenotype, but where this rascal really shines is in his carcass data. He is third on the podium for REA (by only 0.01), second for estimated yield, and gets a AAA rank for marbling. Whether you are looking to ramp up your replacement pen or just raise good beef, this guy can do it.

This guy is a standout. Deep ribbed, lots of muscle, and an upheaded, herd bull look. He started life small at 72 lbs, and has completely took off from there. Density is maybe the most influential maternally based sire in the Angus breed; making moderate framed, efficient cows with exceptional udders. You will be wanting to keep every daughter.

Really hairy, moderate framed, masculine, and backed by an awesome Density cow; what more could you need?

LOT 43

An end of April bull that has never missed a beat. Smooth made and balanced with extra extension throughout his sides and carried into his front end.

This Growth Fund X Bismack combination did everything it should have and more. That big BW to WW spread is absolutely invaluable, and his phenotype is the kind you will love watching roam your pastures. Thick haired, very well balanced, and a nice, small herd bull head on him.

Combining Growth Fund on Final Answer is a no brainer; both offer the world when it come to standout performance. The maternal backing of FA is legendary, leaving easy fleshing, awesome uddered daughters. This is the kind that can create a low input, high output cow herd. Lots of substance and depth to this one.

When you can tie into the maternal giant Density, just bear down. A scale crusher that still has a balanced look, and as an added ‘real-world’ bonus he does excel in carcass traits.

LOT 50

D AND N BLOODLINE 110L

Another option from the great Evening Tinge 5110, here with the Bloodline benefits. His maternal brother by American Made sells at Lot 10, and is a maternal brother to the $13,000 2022 high seller to Josh Herauf. His YW EPD puts him in the top 3% of the whole breed, and WW in the top 7%. In addition to the growth traits, his Milk EPD is in the top 4%.

LOT 51

D AND N BLOODLINE 188L

LOT 52

D AND N BLOODLINE 193L

Blair’s Mercedes 717C was our selection for the Blairs.Ag program in their 2020 Opportunity Knocks Sale, where she was a high selling female at $21,750. She is a testament to the power and substance that Resource brands his progeny with, and we fell in love with the sheer amount of body and volume that she has while still remaining femininely made. A full brother to Lot 51 and 52 was selected in last years bull sale by Marlin McGuire. Another maternal sister by American Made was shown succesfully and sold in the Agribition Angus Sale for Chance Jackson. These boys are built right, respectable numbered, full of pedigree, and what we feel is the right kind.

53

D AND N RAINFALL 742L

These 3/4 brothers

All of the pieces in the puzzle fit together easily with this Rainfall X Density combo. First and foremost, the build here is just solid. He is big middled, wide based, and has enough rear gear. The maternal perfection built in through a Density female will withstand the test of time.

Soggy made with that evident Bravo phenotype influence and the proven Evening Tinge cow family. He is extremely balanced across the board on his EPD profile, and has a modest 71 lb birth weight.

We may sound like a broken record here, but these Rainfall progeny are just so consistent in their type and kind. All the benefits of a traditional heifer bull with enough look and substance to still be intriguing. The Queen Mother family from JL is certainly one that deserves a second look.

The Rainfall X Resource combination just wraps up all the fundamentals to make a true breeding bull. This guy is long sided and herd bull fronted.

Another Rainfall X Renown with a touch lower birth then his counterpart. This mating really is the best of both worlds. Like we said. the Rainfall

These two Preseason sons are excellent options to add power and a little extra frame size to your cows.

The Magnitude cattle are moderate built, structurally sound and flat out good! You can count on these boys’ producing heifers that make the replacement pen and have an impact on profitable cows in the years to come!

D AND N MAGNITUDE 3211L

D AND N MAGNITUDE 3231L

A double shot of calving ease with these two 3/4 brothers when you combine Magnitude with Rainfall. Check out that 67 lb actual birthweight on Lot 68. They’ll be nice to the heifers with their smooth build and small heads.

No introduction needed here; the Alcatraz progeny have had a substantial impact on the cattle business across North America. From siring females that are top of there class in all regards to bulls that continue to be the high sellers year after year, from a variety of programs across the country! His calves averaged 75.4 lbs on 129 calves.
