Modernism is carried on a generic architecture or commonly called an ‘international style’. The criticism of modern architecture popularized by Charles Jencks, post-modernism, does not lead us to escape from the international style. It caused an identity loss to architecture which can be called "notopia". Notopia is the loss of identity and cultural vibrancy – a global pandemic of generic buildings. The design proposal aims as a critique of notopia. The purpose of the design is to disenchant by using the critical regionalism approach that is applied to office buildings as office buildings are often victims of generic architecture. Critical regionalism approach through the concept of hybridization can open up the possibility of creating a more contextual architectural design by paying attention to the aspects and values of the existing local culture. Hybridization of each element creates something new without losing the local cultural value. The principle of regional building, applied on the design, are divided into three parts, namely the head, body and foot. Furthermore, the body part consists three types of rental office units. Each unit is arranged by a 6x6 meter model, the amount of which is adjusted to the area of each unit type.

West & East Facade The west side of the buildings are designed with glass walls to insert light into the building. To reduce overwhelming sun exposure, added 3 m shading. Secondary screen from 3 m wire mesh sheet with vines made to reduce the heat of sun and improve air quality in buildings. There are also some pivot doors as a user access to the balcony that appears due to the shading of each module. The concrete walls appears from the result of modul that created to facilitate private space of the office.

South & North Facade On the south side, jalousie walls are used with glass and wood materials arranged alternately. Jalousie walls are chosen to reduce wind speeds that is high enough on the site and keep the wind in the building as natural ventilation. Jalousies that use glass material provide access to light into the building. Furthermore, the addition of 2 m shading which functions to cool the wind before finally entering the building. Pivot doors also added as a users access to the balcony and concrete walls that facilitate private space of the office.

Urban Wagyu Dharmahusada is a branch of Urban Wagyu steakhouse in Dharmahusada, Surabaya. The site is aproximately 574 sqm and the existing building is aproximately 731.5 sqm. The design aimed to connect each floor and maximized the open space in the building. Two void was created to connect first floor and second floor of the building. Most of the existing walls are destroyed leaving only the columns of the building to create a wider space. A wide tall glass window used as a room divider, reducing the boundary between each area. The first floor contains an indoor dining, kitchen, bar, a courtyard functioned as outdoor dining, service area with polycarbonate roof as a sky light. The second floor is a rentable wide indoor dining space with a connected VIP room. The VIP room designed with a folding door that can be used as a partition when there is a small private event. Otherwise, the folding door can be opened and connect with the indoor dining area to provide bigger event. There are also outdoor dinings located in balcony area.

The project sought to introduce the café building as a new structure that compliments and contrasts the adjacent existing building. The use of contemporary design language and unpredictable form exploration give way to bold and playful compositions between the two structures. Most of the materials and details present are left exposed to serve as both structural and architectural elements of the café, while the composition of overlapping planes and the response to the silhouette of the existing building act as the architectural expression of both the interior and exterior of the café. These feats provide ample light that hits and falls differently on each plane and side of the rooms, and the gaps between the walls allow both air and visitors to freely flow into and out of the space. As a small public space, visual connectivity is present in each of the levels through an open plan with openings on the walls. The relationship between the old and new buildings is amplified by the intertwined programs between them. The existing building host the bar, kitchen, and indoor dining area; while the new structure accommodates the office and semi-outdoor dining area.
