WELCOME PACKAGE BOURNEMOUTH Bournemouth is a large coastal resort town on the south coast of England directly to the east of the Jurassic Coast, a 96-mile (155 km) World Heritage Site. Bournemouth and the surrounding areas offer natural beauty providing some of the most stunning scenery in the country – home to rolling hills, rugged coastline, lush forest and of course, mile after mile of fantastic golden sandy beaches. With seven miles of golden sands and sparkling sea, the vibrant cosmopolitan town of Bournemouth has it all - a vast variety of shops, restaurants and holiday accommodation, seafront hotels, quality B&B’s, a buzzing nightlife and endless countryside with beautiful award winning gardens and watersports galore. Bournemouth is home to seven miles of award winning sandy beach, which offers a range of beach lifestyle activities. Relax by renting a beach hut for the day or get your adrenaline pumping with one of the many water sports on offer.

Cliff Lifts Bournemouth has three cliff lifts (West, East and Fisherman’s Walk) that operate every day between Easter and the end of October.

Getting Here Bournemouth is situated in the South West of England and can be easily reached by road, rail, air or sea. Bournemouth is served by South West Trains and has a regular service to Weymouth and direct services to/from London Waterloo. There is a taxi rank and the Bournemouth Coach and Bus station, located outside of platform 1. London to Bournemouth takes approximately 2 hours by train.

By Air If you’re travelling abroad or have family flying in from other countries, consider using Bournemouth Airport. Offering over 30 direct worldwide destinations and serving around 80,000 passengers a year it’s a great way to arrive. There is a bus service direct from Bournemouth town centre to Bournemouth Airport. By Car Bournemouth can be approached on the A338 (Wessex Way) from the North/East and the A35 from the South/West. If you are coming from London, the direct route is M3, M27 then A338. By Coach Bournemouth Coach Station is located next to Bournemouth Railway Station and offers services from a range of coach companies including National Express and Megabus to London Victoria, Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

By Ferry The nearby port in Poole is well served by cross channel ferry services. Brittany Ferries operate daily services from Cherbourg in France and Condor Ferries provide links to the channel islands of Jersey and Guernsey as well as St Malo in France.

Walking Bournemouth is a pedestrian friendly destination, with pavements, underpasses and walkways spread across the town making it both easy and safe to get around. Buses Two main bus companies operate in Bournemouth offering a great service across the town and surrounding areas. Cycling Bournemouth is well placed for cycling benefiting from two National Cycle Network routes 25 and 2 and a network of on and off-road cycle routes. There are cycle hire facilities across the town. Taxi Taxi ranks are situated across Bournemouth so it’s always easy to jump in a taxi and hop across town. Rail and Coach Trains, coaches and local bus services feed into the main Bournemouth Rail and Coach station – also known as the Travel Cycling on Bournemouth Sea front Interchange.

Breathe in the fresh sea air – take a stroll on our historic piers when walking along the seven miles of award winning seafront. You will see why it’s renowned across Europe for being the cleanest, prettiest stretch of beach in the UK whilst being sat in your rented beach hut.

Shop until you drop – just a short stroll from the beach through our beautiful gardens, finds you in the heart of Bournemouth’s shopping district, which features individual boutique shops, alongside high street name stores.

Tree Trails to Tropical Gardens – enjoy our 2,000 acres of glorious gardens and picturesque parks. The Lower Gardens leads directly to the beach and are also home to mini golf, the bandstand, aviary, the Art Exhibition at Pine Walk and many catering kiosks.

Cultural Delights – Visit the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum - a historic house situated on the cliff top, full of treasures from around the world including famous paintings and ever changing exhibitions. Take in the incredible views of Bournemouth beach as you wonder the grounds and enjoy a bite to eat from their cafe.

Family Fun – For an experience to remember visit some of the fantastic attractions in the surrounding towns and villages. There’s always something to keep the kids entertained from farms, wildlife parks to arts and crafts activities and adventure family themed parks like Paultons Park which is a full of adventures and delights for the younger visitor and is also home to the UK’s only Peppa Pig World too.

Make a splash – feeling brave and want to dip your toes in the ocean then why not try surf lessons or body boarding? Bournemouth and Poole is home to a range of watersports to try out from beginners to fanatics. If the sea is too cold for you then head over to Splashdown or Littledown to enjoy their indoor facilities and plunging slides.

Why not cycle along the Bournemouth promenade and enjoy the seven miles of sea views or venture futher out and cycle along the Jurassic CoastEngland’s first natural World Heritage Site – and capture sights of Corfe Castle and Durdle Door before stopping off to enjoy high tea- the ultimate British tradition.

Weather Bournemouth is famous for its year round mild and temperate climate. The warmest months are May to September which is when you will enjoy long, hot and sunny days. It can get very cold in the depths of winter though, and will sometimes reach temperatures below zero. Bournemouth’s annual rainfall is well below the national average.

Main residential areas Property prices in Bournemouth are pretty much in line with those in the South East, which can be quite a strain when the wages don’t quite match up.. Some of the most affluent areas of town can be found in neighbouring Boscombe and Winton – both characterised by a plethora of semi and detached houses with three or four bedrooms. Elsewhere, Spring Bourne, Westbourne, South Bourne and Charminster are popular areas.
