the world. Cooper also produced, directed and wrote the production screenplay – alongside Eric Roth and Will Fetters – and has made more than U$50 million for his work and the rights. With no time to waste, Bradley is in negotiations to star “Nightmare Alley”, the new Guillermo del Toro’s film. The role was supposedly written to Leonardo DiCaprio but he hasn’t reached an agreement with producer Fox Searchlight. The film is based on a book of the same name written by William Lindsay Gresham in 1946 and it tells the story of a swindler who joins a psychotherapist - as corrupt as him - and together they both become famous by bribing and manipulating people through mental games until there’s a plot twist and the manipulator becomes the manipulated one.

The film massive success didn’t give Cooper the Best Actor in a Leading Role award, once he also played the main character partnering with Lady Gaga (Gaga, by the way, has won 32 awards including the Oscars, Grammy, Bafta and Golden Globe because of the song Shallow - written by her and musical producer Mark Ronson specially for the film soundtrack – in the category “Best Original Song”) but the 44-year-old Hollywood heartthrob has become, for the third time, one of the most well-paid actors thanks to the world box office of “A Star is born”. Cooper started his career in 1999 when he played a guest role in the second season of classical TV series Sex and The City. Two years later, he made his film debut in the comedy “We Hot American Summer” and kept playing small roles for about ten years. Then in 2009 his life changed when played Phil Wenneck in the blockbuster “Hangover” that has had two sequels so far. His first Oscar nomination came in 2012, for Best Actor in a Leading Role for “Silver Linings Playbook”. The film also gave Cooper nominations for Bafta, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and National Board of Review, but he won just the last of them. Other awards he received were the Critics’ Choice Awards and Teen Choice Awards for “Best Supporting Actor” in “American Hustle” (2013). The National Board Of Review awarded him as Best Director for his debut in “A Star is Born” (2018). Bradley Cooper has starred 41 films and his top ten memorable roles are in the films “A Star is Born” (2018); “Joy” (2015); “Burnt” (2015); “Serena” (2014); “American Sniper” (2014); “American Hustle” (2013); “Silver Linings Playbook” (2012); “The Place Beyond the Pines” (2012); “Limitless” (2011) and “Hangover” (2009).

BUCOLIC RETREATS By Alice Morais
Escape from the big city’s buzz to find peace and comfort in one of these new country house hotels around the UK
T
he UK countryside attracts thousands of visitors not only because of its hills and valleys but also because of its unchanging nature: timeless thatched-roofed hamlets, woodlands, rocky coastlines and shingle beaches, among other bucolic landscapes. But that doesn’t mean simple hotels and lack of luxury. Right now, rural Britain is blooming with innovation and creativity, led by millionaire renovations, fancy kitchens with Michelin stars and design that competes with the capital in cosmopolitan style. Here’s our list with the latest openings or re-openings. TALK Miami 22
TRAVEL
THE FIFE ARMS After an enormous transformation, the Fife Arms in Scotland has gone from a simple Victorian inn to one of the UK’s hottest hotels. Led by designer Russell Sage, the renovation features a combination of tartan, brocade and William Morris wallpaper alongside art by Picasso, Bourgeois and Freud. The hotel is owned by Swiss art dealers Manuela and Iwan Wirth.

GARA ROCK In the Southwest, a pair of properties that aren’t quite ambitious but bring a welcome bit of contemporary chic: Gara Rock. Originally a cluster of Admiralty cottages situated on the clifftop of a hidden peninsula, the hotel now features loft rooms, suites, apartments and cottages, all with a stylish, artful vibe. It also offers guests an Elemis spa, cinema and surf school.
BEAVERBROOK A delightfully different atmosphere awaits at Beaverbrook - once the home of press baron Lord Beaverbrook - and guests are immediately taken to an era of country cottages. Set in 162 hectares off Surrey Hills, the echoes of the past are everywhere: Victoriana lampshades, vast drapes of chintz, four-poster beds… even the staff seem to be straight from the 1920s, in their waistcoats and braces. There’s a spa in the Coach House, a Japanese restaurant by Nobu’s Taiji Maruyama and a complete kids’ club with a treehouse and slides.

SOUTH LODGE The worn exterior of South Lodge, a 19th-century neo-Jacobean stack in West Sussex is definitely not very attractive. However, when crossing the historic entrance, you’ll be taken into what may be one of Britain’s best country house spa. The huge space features three pools, waterbed-style massage tables and a mud room to go along with styled rooms and a cozy restaurant controlled by Tom Kemble.
GRANTLEY HALL In Yorkshire there is the Grantley Hall, a beauty gem with 47 suites and pleasant Japanese garden that has just had an expensive renovation and now features a wellness space with a cryotherapy chamber, underwater treadmill and altitude-enabled trainings.

The hotel upholds the Scottish tradition with a world-class links golf course and the Aromatherapy Associates spa, the ideal place to relax.
THE FLOATING SPA Back down south, on the banks of the Thames, you can spend some time at The Floating Spa at Monkey Island Estate: three treatment rooms, where floating massages incorporate natural peat and moss.

FAMOUS CHEFS ARE INTO THE TREND Gastronomes are increasingly spoilt for choice now that many of Britain’s famous chefs are working in country kitchens. In Hempshire, at Heckfield Place, culinary star Skye Gyngell serves seasonal delights, such as chickpea pancake, baby leeks and almond yogurt; in Scotland, Michelin-starred Tom Kitchin and his designer wife Michaela, have transformed the 14-bedroom pub Bonnie Badger into a fancy destination. Meanwhile, in PerthShire Gleneagles has relaunched its famous restaurant, the Strathearn, under the control of chef Jason Hardcastle. Expect great cuisine and remarkable experiences. Over in the Costwolds, the talented Sam and Georgie Pearman are the new owners of the eight-bedroom Swan at Ascott and show their signature stamp of cool country with their special favorites, such as cheese soufflé. Finally, in Kent, the Pig-at Bridge Place is the epitome of comfortably casual. The 17th- century house has 25 bedrooms and a beautiful greenhouse restaurant where local produce is prepped and served from an open kitchen.
PRIVACY IS PARAMOUNT If the intention is something more private and exclusive, no matter if it’s a big celebration or a quiet getaway, the option of private uses is the best one and for that, we recommend the Templeton House in Roehampton, a 30-minute drive from London’s West End. This Georgian mansion features 8 bedrooms, bucolic landscapes and the largest private pool in and around the capital. Equally impressive, but a little bit more rustic, is August House on the wild Norfolk
coast. Once owned by the Queen’s uncle, this amazing seaside manor, built in the shape of a butterfly, sleeps up to 20 guests. For something more intimate, the options are The Riddle, a cottage for four or Squire’s Cottage at Lucknam Park, a dreamy four-bedroom escape opening in August. We must take into consideration that all these places offer a quiet and rural experience while indulging guests in spa treatments, excellent restaurants and some other remarkable experiences.

M/Y ELANDESS ABEKING & RASMUSSEN This luxury yacht was built at Abeking and Rasmussen in Germany. It was delivered in 2018. Elandes can accommodate 12 guests, a crew of 24 and features an Atlantic Bow and a large swimming pool on the deck. “Walking through Elandess, no two spaces feel the same: each area has its own character, creating drama and interest at every turn”, explains designer Harrison Eidsgaard responsible for the creation of the 74.5 m M/Y Elandess. The yacht is powered by 2 Caterpillar engines,
which bring it to a top speed of 14 knots. It has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Styled with a profusion of striking indoor and outdoor spaces, this yacht shines from the dining and sitting rooms to the incredible Neptune Lounge – a space below waterline, arranged like an ancient theater where guests can enjoy both a submarine-like perspective while under way through windows. Elandess was the winner of four Neptune trophies at the Boat International Awards. Since the founding of Abeking & Rasmussen in 1907, surely Elandess is one of the most remarkable models.

M/Y BRAVO EUGENIA - OCEANCO Things are moving fast at Oceanco. Along with M/Y Dar, Bravo Eugenia embodies the Dutch shipyard’s style. “Our approach was to maintain a stunningly sleek profile without sacrificing any interior space,” said designer Dan Lenard. Launched last November, the yacht is unique with naval architecture by Lateral Naval Architects. Bravo Eugenia cruises with little resistance in the water and as a result, needs less power thanks to the single-tier engine. The elegant interior was designed by firm Reymond Langton with light woods and lacquered surfaces, combining to create a warm, inviting environment for all on board (14 guests and 30 crew)
M/Y DAR – OCEANCO From the same shipyard, there is the magnificent DAR, a 90-metre luxury superyacht delivered in July 2018. The model features a sporty exterior design from DeBasto Design, with fluid, organic proportions, floor-to-ceiling windows that bathe the spaces in light and incredible uses of transparency and detailing.
The interior configuration has been designed to accommodate up to 14 guests in 7 cabins. Dar features a displacement steel hull and aluminum superstructure with teak decks. The yacht is also fitted with ‘zero speed stabilizers’ which work at anchor, increasing on-board comfort particularly when in rough waters.

BENETTI’S TRIO TO BE WATCHED While most shipyards face some limitations in building big, Benetti has met the challenge as demonstration of strength and launched three giga yachts over a period of just four months. It’s a global achievement that ranks among the most impressive ones in the history of yacht-building industry. These were the giants in order or delivery: - FB277, delivered in December 2018. LOA: 107m. Built in collaboration with Imperial Yachts - FB272, delivered in February 2019. LOA: 100m+. Hybrid. Skilled workforce from 100 suppliers. - FB275, delivered in April 2019. LOA:108m. Fuel tank capacity of 345,000l.
5 DECADES OF WONDERFUL YACHTS One of the world’s most glorious yacht firms, Azimut/Benetti Group celebrates its 50th birthday with a blast. One of the great stories in the yachting world, the Azimu/Benetti Group adventure started in 1969, when Paolo Vitelli – a university student – started a charter business with a friend. The new company soon moved on to production and in 1978 the small boat AZ32 Targa became a sensation. In 1985 the acquisition of the Fratelli Benetti yard based in Viareggio brought a new challenge to the group. The aim of providing a full range of yachts, for clients with small budgets to those with no limits, was a hard task but the work paid off with amazing results for both brands: innovations that soon were copied by competitors.
Today, the group Azimut/Benetti is one of the key players in yachting and Vitelli, who is still the president, can reflect on the success: “Keeping a step ahead, anticipating clients’s expectations, marking the trends in style – these have always been our strong points”, he said recently. “And coupled with a prudent management of the business, they enable us still to be the company of reference in the international luxury yacht sector.” Part of this important position comes from the company’s expansion beyond yacht-building to marinas as well as to Fraser Yachts, a much-respected yacht brokerage. But lately it is the ships that define the company and the group is clearly proud of its mission to build the most beautiful, reliable, innovative yachts of the world.

NEW DEVELOPMENT AND LAUNCHES 48 S – ANVERA Five years ago, Giancarlo Galeone and his team founded Anvera, a tech-forward design firm with the goal to create the future of life on the water. As a result, they have recently launched the 48S which allows for a maximalist experience, pairing massive outdoor spaces great power and performance and environmentally friendly efficiency. With a total length of 14.5m and a top speed of 55 knots, it is comfortable for up to 12 people.
M/Y LADY S – FEADSHIP The famous Dutch firm recently launched the 93m Lady S. Designed by Reymond Langton and styled by Michael Leach, her interior layout sleeps up to 12 guests in 7 rooms, including a master suite. The yacht is capable of carrying up to 29 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. The atmosphere is elegant and comfortable. The generous deck areas play host to a wide range of amenities including an outdoor bar and ample space for lounging and relaxing. Lady S’s impressive entertainment facilities, which include IMAX cinema and areas for different sports, make her the ideal charter yacht for socializing and entertaining with family and friends. M/Y DRAGON PALUMBO GROUP The Italian Palumbo Group has more than twenty years of experience to go with its five shipyards spread across the Mediterranean. That’s where the most recent launch took place – the 79.9m Columbus Classic motoryacht. With a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, it is a marvel that reflects the brand’s capabilities. Dragon features a large owner’s suite with a 180-degree panoramic view.
MANGUSTA 110 – MANGUSTA The fourth unit of the series, the 33.8-meter motor yacht was delivered earlier this year. Speed is the headline here: the two MTU 16V2000 M96L 2600 HP engines push the yacht to a maximum speed of 33 knots, keeping her stable and comfortable. Considering the design, the Mangusta 110 can cruise at low speed in fuel-efficiency mode and low-emission engines.
The exterior design is characterized by sleek and sporty lines, with interiors by Dutch designer Piet Boon, working in collaboration with Overmarine’s in-house design and decoration office. On board, up to eight guests can be housed across four staterooms, as well as a crew of five. The interior layout is characterized by large open areas and a careful balance between interior and exterior spaces, which is perfect for socializing.

THE 2020
ROLLS-ROYCE LINE UP By Alice Morais
What to buy and what to avoid when it comes to Rolls Royce next year
T
he iconic British carmaker is going through a great moment under the BMW Group’s reign. The position of a subsidiary of a prolific company has given them access to technology, know-how and platforms that enable them to expand their range as soon as they consider it necessary. For example, thanks to BMW Rolls-Royce has been able to answer the call for an ultra-luxury SUV – the new Cullinan SUV has helped the brand achieve the best sales record in its history, but the consequences are yet to be considered. The Rolls-Royce division sold 4,107 models around the world in 2018, a 22.2 percent increase
compared to 2017. Peter Schwarzenbauer, the BMW AG board member responsible for Mini, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad, said that all separate markets had showed growth during the considered period. The Rolls-Royce’s total US sales are higher than 1,373 units which the company reported in 2017. That means that the US market still accounts for around 30 percent of the Rolls-Royce’s totals, making it the most important single market for the British brand. 2020 will bring us a number of redesigned Rolls Royce models like the new Ghost. A closer look at the Rolls Royce range for 2020 represents the ultimate selection of luxury cars.

WHAT’S HOT
2020 CULLINAN The most unconventional addition to the Rolls-Royce lineup has received awards reserved for the most luxurious SUV on the market. For some $325,000 you get pretty much anything you wanted from a large luxury vehicle. The base models offer around 21 different interior colors (all leather) and 8 different wood trims. The exterior can be treated to 32 color choices and 5 different wheel designs. There’s only
one engine under the Rolls-Royce Cullinan’s hood. A 6.75L twin-turbo V12 cranks up as much as 563 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of twist, but it’s the powertrain’s silent demeanor that impresses the most – not its output. Paired to the 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox which routes all that power to all four corners, the Cullinan manages to hit 60 mph from a standing start in just 4.8 seconds on the way to its electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

2020 GHOST The Rolls-Royce’s 4-door sedan is celebrating a decade of ultimate luxury. For that reason, the 2020 Ghost will be fully redesigned and built. Previously built on the BMW 7 Series platform, the next generation Ghost is set to ride on Rolls-Royce’s in-house base called the “Architecture of Luxury”, which may help it develop a new identity. The new model will still be a large 4-door sedan and will keep its original boxy shape, however, the next-gen Ghost will offer a completely renovated interior featuring the company’s new infotainment system as its core. As before, the entry-level Rolls-Royce will offer only one powertrain option: a twinturbo V12 most likely mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, but 6.6L in displacement this time. The final power product hasn’t been revealed but bets are high on 563 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of rotational force. At a later stage, the company will also unveil the sporty Black Badge which already makes 603hp and 620 lb-ft of torque. This version is expected to produce at least around 50 horsepower more than the conventional Ghost. Prices will start from around $315,000.
TALK Miami 54
LIFESTYLE
2020 PHANTOM For almost a century, the Phantom has been on top of the Rolls-Royce range and is one of the most respected and desired nameplates in the auto industry. The ultra-luxury full-size sedan was recently fully redesigned after its predecessor ran unchanged for nearly fifteen years. The eighth generation of the Phantom represents the peak of Rolls-Royce evolution and an incomparable status symbol in the automotive world. The new Phantom is not only more luxurious and refined than their previous models but much more advanced in every imaginable way.
It also offers a smoother ride. As it happens with the entire Rolls Royce lineup, there’s only one engine available with the Phantom: the company’s 6.75L twin-turbocharged V12 that cranks up 563 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of twist in this instance. An 8-speed automatic transmission and a rear-wheel drive setup means that the regular Phantom accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. Fuel economy is clocked at 12mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway but that’s not really important if you’re driving a Rolls-Royce. Prices start from $450,000.
TALK Miami 55
LIFESTYLE
WHAT’S NOT
2020 WRAITH The Wraith is the closest to the entry-level a RollsRoyce car can get. Unlike the Ghost, that is undergoing an extensive transformation and receiving a whole new groundwork, the 2-door coupe still embraces the BMW roots. But the next year won’t bring a lot of significant changes to the model. Compared to the Ghost, the Rolls-Royce Wraith is a much sportier version and it’s not just a few extra horsepower that make us say that. It loses more than 7 inches in wheelbase and some weight in the process, and then there’s a specially-tuned
suspension. The BMW’s N74B66 powerplant serves as the only motivational factor behind the Wraith coupe. A 6.6L twin-turbo V12 develops 624 ponies and 590 pound-feet of torque in its regular form, while the performance-oriented Black Badge raises the total torque output to 642 lb-ft. Every Wraith sports a rear-wheeled drive setup with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission included. A powertrain upgrade seems to be imminent, but there are no plans for it so far. For now, the beautiful coupe keeps basically unchanged.
TALK Miami 56
LIFESTYLE
2020 DAWN Another Rolls-Royce based on the Ghost Series II is reaching its production end. The 2-door convertible is practically a Wraith counterpart even though the company has states that it shares only 20 percent of body panels with the coupe. The Dawn, just like the Wraith coupe will remain intact for at least another year – maybe longer. Once considered the “sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built”, the ultra-luxury 4-seat convertible really needs to keep up with the times. Despite being derived from a sporty model such as the Wraith, the convertible has its limitations in that regard. For starters, it’s 400 pounds heavier than its coupe counterpart and it rolls with 61 ponies fewer than Wraith.
Talking about Dawn’s power: it comes from a 6.6L twin-turbo V12 version of the BMW’s N74 mill. All 563 horses and 605 lb-ft of rotation force. As expected, the only Rools-Royce drop-top available at the moment routes all the power to the rear using a contemporary 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Well, as long as these models are still being assembled upon the BMW F01 platform from the 7 Series, there’s no reason to waste time and money on what are steadily becoming outdated. All this will be done as soon as they switch to the Rollsexclusive “Architecture of Luxury” platform. TALK Miami 57

The integrating bracelet in matching satin-brushed steel looks good on the wrist and ensures a comfortable fit. There’s also the option of a sail canvas or NATO strap.
