JOAQUIN PHOENIX
THE GLORIOUS DAYS OF
JOAQUIN PHOENIX By Magali Magalhães
J
oaquin Phoenix has many reasons to laugh. After winning the award for Best Leading Actor at the Golden Globes and the Sag Awards for his outstanding performance as the Joker, the American actor unsurprisingly won the same prize at the Oscars 2020, that took place in Los Angeles, on February 9th. Phoenix had been nominated for the Academy Awards three times before (“Gladiator”, “Walk the Line”,
“The Master”) and Joker, his fourth nomination, finally gave him the statue. The Todd Phillips’s psychological thriller was nominated for 11 categories at the Oscars 2020: Best Picture, Best Director (Phillips), Best Actor (Phoenix), Best adapted screenplay, Cinematography, Costume Design, Best MakeUp and Hairstyling, Editing, Original Score, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing. It won 2 of them.
TALK Miami 8
JOAQUIN PHOENIX Joaquin Phoenix received wider attention for his portrayal of Commodus in Gladiator (2000), which gave him his first Oscar nomination. His performance in Hotel Rwanda (2004), Walk the Line (2005) and Her (2013) were also acclaimed by critics and audience. However, it was his portrayal of Arthur Fleck, the mentally ill man who becomes Joker - Batman’s main enemy - that gave him more projection. As a movie based on a comic, Joker has received the highest number of nominations for the Academy Awards ever.
Photo: Featureflash Photo Agency
Joker was released in October last year and has become a major box office success, grossing over U$1 billion since then and becoming the first R-rated film to do so. During its opening weekend, the film grossed around U$90 million breaking Warner Bros record since the release of Wonder Woman. At 45 years old, Joaquin Phoenix has been in almost 40 films. His first time on screen was in 1982, in a small role at the TV Series “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, starred by his brother River Phoenix, who tragically suffered an overdose and died in 1993.
TALK Miami 9
Alongside his acting career, Phoenix has directed a few music videos and produced some films and TV shows. And he has also showed his talent as a singer – his great performance as Johnny Cash in Walk the Line included singing some of Cash’s most famous songs. Phoenix has long been a social activist giving support to several charities and humanitarian organizations. The actor is also widely known for his animal rights work, collaborating to spread awareness about animal rights and promoting veganism. He is a vegan since he was 3 years old and has refused to wear leather shoes for a Prada campaign or any clothes made out of animal skin or leather. In his films, he requests costumes made from synthetic materials only.

On January 10th, just five days after receiving the Golden Globe award for Best Leading Actor, Phoenix was among a group of more than a hundred activists arrested by the American police during the Fire Drill Fridays, demonstration organized by Jane Fonda in Washington D.C., to protest against the climate changes. The demonstrators refused to leave the entrance of the Capitol, home of the United States Congress, where the protest happened. At the Capitol, Phoenix reassured his Golden Globe speech about the impact of meat and dairy production over climate changes. “Sometimes we wonder what we can do in this fight against climate change and there’s something that you can do today and tomorrow, by making a choice about what you consume.”

TOP 10 RESORTS IN THE MALDIVES By Alice Morais
KANDIMA
S
o here’s a new year and the ideal moment to make plans and think about new travel destinations. Have you considered the Maldives? We’ve selected the top 10 resorts to help you plan your next holiday. TALK Miami 22
TRAVEL
ONE AND ONLY REETHI RAH Welcome to one of the most sophisticated hotels in the world, let alone the Maldives. The extreme luxurious resort offers Villas and Residences. The Beach Villas are magnificent and private: lots of mahogany and teal, comfort and a private pool. It’s just a short stroll to a perfect white-sand beach with translucent sea. And if you can hold up to leave your villa, there’s an overwater, delightful Japanese restaurant that serves unforgettable black cod and buttery sashimi, a smoothie bar on the sands and a beach club restaurant with epic calamari. Guests can also enjoy an Espa spa offering holistic and delicious treatments in cabanas overlooking the sea. A glamourous paradise.
CONRAD MALDIVES, RANGALI ISLAND Acclaimed for its kaleidoscopic blue waters, immaculate shores and exquisite villas spread across two verdant islands, the Conrad is already a beloved classic. The hotel’s consistent quest for a spicy edge over its counterparts reached its climax with the launch of The MURAKA, a unique residence submerged five meters under the Indian Ocean. Guests experience a psychedelic flush of marine life from their sumptuous bed, shower and wardrobe. The resort’s spas, restaurants and villas are sewn into the celestial landscape: the infinity pools play on the sea’s vibrant shades. The Over Water Spa embodies the treasured edge of the Maldives and even the tennis court is wrapped in exotic bloom. TALK Miami 23
TRAVEL
EMERALD MALDIVES RESORT & SPA This idyllic new resort is located in the northwestern part of the Maldives archipelago in Raa Atoll, taking over Fasmendhoo Island. The all-inclusive aspect of it is executed elegantly. Once you’re on the island, there’s no need to worry about extra costs. With 20 hectares of land, Emerald has more space than many islands in the Maldives, allowing privacy across the 120 villas, which are split between the beach and the water. There are four restaurants to explore, including Amazònico, the first South-American restaurant in the Maldives: a rainforest-style, lantern-bedecked space with an open fire grill. We can’t forget to mention the high quality of all services, facilities and design – all of them are simply impeccable.
KANDIMA An entire resort concept at an accessible price point, that’s what Kandima brings to the Maldives. A three-kilometer-long private island, with acres of space and activities such as tennis, badminton, volleyball, gym, and art classes. There’s an excellent kids’ club complete with mini water park. The style reminds of a contemporary Ibiza hotel, with a bold and shiny color scheme. With 11 different bars and restaurants, a beach club and pool at the southern tip and another 100m pool by the watersport headquarters, guests can do something different every day. Because of all the options offered and the good price point, it’s easy to understand why Kandima won best newcomer in the Maldives Travel Awards last year. TALK Miami 24
TRAVEL
FAIRMONT MALDIVES SIRRU FEN FUSHI Flying in by seaplane, the first thing you notice about this new opening is the 200m swimming pool. It divides the aptly named Sirru Fen Fushi island. With 120 villas – all of which come with a private pool and butler service – spread over one of the Maldives’ largest resort islands, everything here is perfectly connected. The design brings bohemian rustic chic. Beach villas look like private paradises with lime-washed courtyard walls and large gardens. A huge copper bath takes center stage. In a first for the Maldives, they offer lush safari-style tented jungle villas. A creative kids’ club poolside makes this resort a great option for families.
AMILLA FUSHI With its clean, contemporary architecture, impeccable service and attention to details, the resort has put the Maldives on the map as destination not just for couples, but for families and groups of friends. Since the opening in 2015, Amilla Fushi has been a disruptor of the traditional Maldives experience. Located in the UNESCO Biosphere of Baa Atoll, just 30 minutes by seaplane from Malé International, the resort conjures a luxurious homecoming feeling, offering 67 island homes and residences that hover over a crystal clear lagoon or embrace the shores of pure white sand. TALK Miami 25
TRAVEL
HURAWALHI ISLAND RESORT The best option for divers. The area of sea around the island is called “The Aquarium” because of the unusually high diversity of sea life, even for the Maldives. There’s plenty to do and enjoy, from scuba diving and snorkeling to sunset cruises, spa treatments and yoga. Guests can experience dinner at 5.8, the world’s largest, all-glass, undersea restaurant. It’s an adults’ escape where luxury and tranquility appear in perfect balance: sublime accommodation, generous all-inclusive service, spa indulgences, wonderful coral reefs and lagoons set seal that the island is worth a visit.
SONEVA JANI Sonu and Eva Shivdasani, the couple who brought us Soneva Fushi, one of the best and longeststanding hotels in the Maldives, introduce their latest settlement. Soneva Jani is the younger more stylish sibling. All rooms feature a kitchenette, a rooftop dining area, a private pool, a sitting room and a bed with a retractable roof, so you can sleep under the stars. Most villas come with their own waterslide into the sea. The excellent Peruvian restaurant serves fresh ceviche and offers an overwater cinema where you can relax after meal. Everything is carefully planned to push you into enjoying yourself and it’s very hard not to surrender. TALK Miami 26
TRAVEL
BAROS MALDIVES The original luxury resort in the Maldives, Baros Maldives opened in 1973 and is situated in the central southern part of North Malé Atoll. Surrounded by the house-reefs in the Indian Ocean, the splendid resort is alive with colors, fish, turtles, rays and coral. In 2016, Baros was voted the “Most Romantic Resort in the World’ at the World Travel Awards. Designed by Maldivian architect Mohamed Shafeeq, with interiors by Anita Indra Dewi, the 45 Beachside and 30 Water luxury Villas were built by local craftsmen using natural materials to blend with the environment, including natural stones, tropical wood and coconut thatch.
FOUR SEASONS RESORT LANDAA GIRAAVARU A pioneer among global resorts, Landaa Giraavaru has been at the vanguard of innovative hospitality since its first opened. It’s important to highlight the resort’s innovations: the pioneering apprenticeship scheme that has worked with almost 500 local youngsters since its launching ten years ago; the conservation projects that include an on-site turtle rehabilitation center; the surrounding UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, home to the world’s largest population of manta rays; and the famous Spa & Ayurvedic Retreat, one of Asia’s most renowned centers of natural healing.
TRAVEL
BONUS
SIX SENSES LAAMU, SOUTHERN LAAMU ATOLL The only resort in the Southern Laamu Atoll with an extraordinary signature Six Senses Spa. The resort has its own resident marine biology team committed to turtle conservation and coral health and recovery. The vibe here is most definitely barefoot luxury, aimed at those who want a luxury resort experience that goes beyond the five-star service. It’s also a good option for families once it offers a variety of activities for kids. Aside from the incredible spa, guests can enjoy a yacht for the day, which includes fishing, snorkeling and a picnic on a deserted island.

ASTON MARTIN DBX JOINS THE TEAM OF LUXURY SUVS By Alice Morais TALK Miami 36
LIFESTYLE The model is a mix of traditional Aston Martin and modern SUV features. The first thing we notice is the strake on the front fender seen on every other Aston Martin and it’s a cool feature. The side skirts also seem inspired by the DB11 and the beltline is rather high and emanates sportiness comparable to the brand’s sports cars. The roof is of the coupestyle variety, as the windows become narrower toward the D-pillars, but it retains the classic British elegance thanks to a chrome stripe that travels from the bottom of the A-pillar and around the upper windows to the lower corner of the quarter window.
The 2020 Aston Martin DBX is a midsize SUV that the British company revealed in the end of 2019. The first SUV from the carmaker, the DBX rides on an exclusive platform, but shares important elements with the company’s sports cars. Powered by the same 4.0-liter V-8 found in the DB11 and the Vantage, the DBX boasts 542 horsepower, which turns it into a competitor for the Bentley Bentayga and the Lamborghini Urus. Likewise, the DBX sports a luxurious interior and is available with a wide range of options. TALK Miami 37
LIFESTYLE
The front fascia includes some key design suggestions that already adorn the DB11, DBS Superleggera and Vantage. The big grille is clearly the main feature here – narrower at the top and wide at the bottom, the grille is very similar to those seen on Aston Martin sports cars. But lower in the bumper, we can see a feature unique to this vehicle: the daytime running lights act as surrounds for the aero ducts placed at the bottom corners. Even though they are small, these openings are very important for the DBX, as they channel air through the front wheel arches and along the sides. This helps reduce both drag and lift, while cooling the front brakes. TALK Miami 38
LIFESTYLE
Considering the size, the DBX falls in the midsize SUV category, but it’s slightly smaller than its rivals. The DBX is 198.4 inches long, 78.7 inches wide and 66.1 inches tall. The British SUV is four inches shorter compared to the Bentley Bentayga, for example. Despite of that, it has a longer wheelbase at 120.5 inches. That’s 2.7 inches more than the Bentayga and 2.3 inches more than the Urus. The DBX boasts an exclusive interior that shares little with other Aston Martin’s models. The center stack is the only feature in common with the DB11 and the DBS Superleggera. But for the new model, Aston Martin completely redesigned the layout of this element. To make room for the big screen in the center, it moved the controls for the ignition and the transmission at the top and relocated the A/C vents at the bottom. The display is also larger than in the DB11 and DBS. The dashboard also looks unique in comparison, mainly due to the upper plates on each side of the center stack. All these surfaces are covered in leather, which is available in a variety of colors. In general, the vehicle looks more modern.
TALK Miami 39
LIFESTYLE
As mentioned before, the new DBX rides on an exclusive platform, which is a little unusual for the SUV market. This new platform features a bonded aluminum construction that’s not only light but very hard too. The model reaches 4,949 pounds, which is pretty heavy compared to Aston Martin’s cars, but not bad for an SUV. Under that hood, there’s a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V-8 engine. Shared with the DB11 and the Vantage, this engine is borrowed from Mercedes-AMG following a collaboration that the two companies signed a few years ago. This V-8 cranks out 542 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque and it’s the most powerful Aston Martin with a V-8. The DBX is exactly the expected when Aston Martin announced plans to build their first SUV. Even if you don’t like SUVs, you can’t deny that it’s a good-looking vehicle. It definitely looks better than the boxy Bentayga and beats the
Urus – in a hard competition. The interior is a big step for the brand. It has a bigger infotainment display that’s effortlessly integrated into the center stack and it can be ordered with a range of exclusive materials. Still comparing the 3 top SUV models, we can say that the DBX is a little less powerful than the Urus and slower than both the Urus and the Bentayga, but it’s not like these vehicles will be competing on drag strips. Summing up, here’s what we love the most about the DBX: it really looks like an Aston, it’s really fast on and off-road and it has a luxurious interior. What can be improved? The styling may be a little controversial, it’s slower than the competition and maybe, it’s a bit pricey. Overall, the DBX is a cool SUV and it might be the vehicle that turns Aston Martin to profitability and enables the company to build more impressive sports cars in the future.

NEW FRAGRANCES TO TRY IN 2020 By Alice Morais
H
ave you ever thought about the power of scent? Just the slightest whiff of a familiar fragrance can bring back sweet childhood memories, remind you of your first love and other unforgettable moments. It seems a good idea to invest in a good fragrance for the new year and for that reason, we’ve made a selection with some classic options that will help you make a fresh start. Looking for a new scent because of you new job? Try one that will aid your ascent of the corporate ladder. Choose something light and office-friendly, a fragrance that’s crisp, fresh and non-threatening. For instant office popularity, James Craven – fragrance archivist at London perfume boutique Les Senteurs – recommends
spritzing citrus scents made up of notes such as lemon, lime, grapefruit, etc. “These notes suggest crispness, confidence, cleanliness and clear-headed efficiency”, he says. Our choice is Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino. For a waft of wellbeing, Craven suggests an oud – a warm and enveloping fragrance derived from the tropical agar tree – which has the effect of a “heavy velvet curtain that shuts out the world”. Or, for something a little less monastic, a fragrance made up of woods, mosses, discreet patchouli and aromatic herbs. The fact is that both of them can transport you to the calming serenity of green space. Options are Indonesian Oud by Ermenegildo Zegna and Chanel’s Pour Monsieur.
TALK Miami 44
BEAUTY
So, your bigger plan for the new year is mastering your manhood, which means “growing up” and facing your responsibilities, there’s a fragrance for that special moment too. “As a young man matures, he can start experimenting with more sophisticated, adventurous, discreetly exotic fragrances,” says Craven. Whereas light, fresh and simple scents are the best ones for boys, a young man can afford to try something a little more different. It’s important to start experimenting with stronger scents to understand your skin and how it holds and reacts to a specific scent. The perfect starting point is the Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Pluriel, a woody aromatic fragrance with lavender, vetiver, patchouli and cedar.
Looking for a new love is the plan for 2020? We have the perfect scent for you. “A sexy scent should simulate animal reproductive impulse and the making of territory, and what could be better for that than musk?”, asks Craven. “People often use the adjective ‘musky’ to mean powerful, spicy, oriental and overpowering. But the smell of musk is, at least, lightly erotic. It’s the scent of hair, skin, arousal and attraction”, he completes. Narciso Rodriguez For Him Bleu Noir is our pick.
If you’re just reaching for a change in life, we have some suggestions as well. “For men, flowers with an earthy, heady, pungent – even rough and aggressive – exhalation can work best,” says Craven. But for a more dramatic switch-up in your scents, he recommends Frédéric Malle’s Portrait of a Lady or Une Rose, which is packed with dark and jammy Turkish rose, laced with red wine lees, the fungal smell of truffles and forest undergrowth.

RICHARD MILLE ULTIMATE EDITION YOHAN BLAKE By Alice Morais
R
ichard Mille dedicated this limited piece to Jamaican athlete Yohan Blake, an ambassador of the brand since 2012. The RM 61-01 Ultimate Edition Yohan Blake will be the last model in the RM 61-01 series and there will be only 150 pieces. The materials used for this special watch are Quartz TPT and Carbon TPT for the bezel and caseback, and Carbon TPT for the caseband. The layers of silica-based Quartz TPT are alternated with layers of Carbon TPT, as they are stacked by an automatic compiling system that changes the orientation of the fibers. Random patterns in the Quartz TPT are then revealed while milling and turning, making each piece unique.
The complete case construction is water-resistant to 50 meters, thanks to two Nitrile O-ring seals and is assembled using 20 spline screws in grade 5 titanium and 316L stainless steel washers. The case measures 50.23mm x 42.70mm x 15.84mm. A crown protector in Carbon TPT ensures that the crown is safe during sporting activities. TALK Miami 54

ROLLS-ROYCE’S
NEW BLACK BADGE – CULLINAN By Alice Morais
W
e usually think of Rolls-Royce as a traditional company that would be almost immune to change. This is true in a certain way, but even the centuryold brand knows that flexibility may bring a lot of success, and that’s how the Black Badge models came.
The Black Badge Dawn, Wraith and Ghost give the brand’s younger clients more choices. Famous athletes, actors and musicians want hipper style and extra power to pair with that signature Rolls-Royce exclusivity, and that’s exactly what they get when buying a Black Badge. And now the trio is growing.
TALK Miami 56
LIFESTYLE
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge is posh in all the right ways. It is one of the most luxurious SUVs available on the market. And what’s impressive is that while the model maintains the same levels of quality and exclusivity expected of a RollsRoyce, it’s one of the few options that’s just exciting from the driver’s seat. The new visual changes are not very noticeable at first, but looking closer we can distinguish the darkened grille, trim pieces and Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament – all of which wear a high-gloss black chrome chemical finish. Rolls-Royce says the process to create these darkened trim pieces is difficult but necessary to prevent long-term scratching or chipping. The wheels are also unique to this trim. The 22-inch units wrap around painted brake calipers. These are subtle, stylish improvements to a vehicle that’s already extremely impressive to look at. The same happens inside the car. Small upgrades over the standard Cullinan make all the difference. A Technical Fiber (carbon fiber) trim comes standard and it covers most of the dash and center console, creating a 3D effect. The new Forge Yellow leather, meanwhile, looks incredible alongside traditional black accents.
TALK Miami 57
LIFESTYLE
The Cullinan Black Badge uses the same colossal 6.7-liter V12 found in the base model. And it now produces 600 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. Credit a reflashed ECU for the improvement. Rolls-Royce doesn't bother to list the time it takes to reach top speed, but this SUV feels noticeably quicker than its 563-hp sibling from behind the wheel. Power delivery gets an uptick. In “Low mode (Rolls-Royce's version of Sport), the
remapped throttle and touchier gas pedal help unleash that massive V12's strengths in a way the base model doesn't. The Black Badge Cullinan takes far less prodding to get up to speed. The more-aggressive shift pattern from the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission puts the V12's newfound power to use exceptionally well. The gearbox is still seamless in the way it shifts, as it is in the base Cullinan.
TALK Miami 58
LIFESTYLE
The Cullinan remains averse to canyon carving, even with its new sporty designation. But the Black Badge model feels more majestic in the way it moves. The firmer air suspension gives better feedback and more responsiveness, while the heavier steering and quicker ratio improve turn-in abilities.
But don't think those performance upgrades contribute to a less-comfortable ride. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge is still a car comfortable-enough to be driven in. Even after the upgrades, it remains one of the poshest, quietest, and smoothest vehicles on the market.

MASTER & DYNAMIC:
A TREAT FOR YOUR EARS By Alice Morais
T
he luxury audio brand Master & Dynamic designs a stylish alternative to those omnipresent white AirPods sprouting from everyone’s ears these days. The NYCbased company is getting famous for using premium materials like lambskin leather and anodized aluminum for luxurious pieces, such as MW65 over-ear headphones, and handcrafted acetate for the smooth MW07 earbuds. This last one has recently received a
major upgrade in the form of the MW07 Plus. The new version now boasts more than triple the battery life of the original MW07, with 10 hours of listening time when fully charged and an extra 30 hours of battery life via the hand-polished stainless steel charging case. The MW07 Plus also has Bluetooth 5.0 with a 100-foot connection range, noise reduction mic arrays and 10 mm custom Beryllium drivers that deliver high-quality sound.
TALK Miami 60
TECHNOLOGY
The MW07 Plus can play music or make phone calls on each earbud independently and the new Ambient Listening Mode feature allows users to tune into their surroundings for added awareness, while active noise-cancellation lessens background noise. Just like Apple’s AirPod Pro, the
MW07 Plus comes with a variety of ear pads to ensure perfect fit – five sizes of ear tips and three sizes of patent-pending Fit Wings. However, the most noticeable element of the MW07 Plus is the aesthetic appeal. The product is available in three striking core colorways – tortoiseshell, steel blue and white marble – as well as a Studio 35 x Kevin Durant special edition black quartz. These elegant buds are made with handcrafted acetate and come with that stainless steel charging case and a soft pouch storage. The MW07 Plus is available for $299. If you’re willing to pay extra for a bit of ostentatious luxury branding, Master & Dynamic joined forces with Louis Vuitton to launch a new collection of Horizon Earphones featuring the fashion giant’s logo that are available in five acetate colors: bright red, pristine white, jet black, neon yellow and pink. These limited edition Louis Vuitton earbuds cost around $1,090.

NIKE DROPS JORDAN 85 RACER SNEAKERS,
A TRIBUTE TO CLASSIC AJ1 By Alice Morais
N
ike has just launched a new version of the Air Jordan 1 that blends modern technology with throwback AJ styling. Inspired by the OG Chicago colorway that debuted in 1985 – the Air Jordan 1’s inaugural year – the Jordan 85 Racer brings a white textile mesh body below red synthetic leather on the toe box and mid-panels. The “Jumpman” logo carved into the heel’s white synthetic leather adds a striking detail, and the black “Swoosh” serves as another nod to the AJ1 Chicago. The new sneaker is equipped for serious running and training. Its shock-absorbing sole features a mix of “Cushlon” Phylon foam and a Zoom Air cushioning unit in the forefoot, while the thin rubber outsole is light but durable. The Jordan 85 Racer will have a reasonable price of $100. The brand recently also dropped a deckedout AJI styled by fashion giant Dior to celebrate the footwear brand’s 35th anniversary. Those special shoes will cost around $2,000 and will be available in April. TALK Miami 64

THE BEST GROOMING PRODUCTS OF THE YEAR By Alice Morais
I
t has never been so easy to find great male grooming products. Poor marketing has been replaced by science-backed credentials, which means that a healthy portion of what’s on offer now really does what it says. As a result, the bathroom shelf business is booming. Personal care is a multi-billion business, with men responsible for a growing part of the toiletry sales. Here’s a selection of the best products chosen by a group of expert judges who spent a few months testing, shaving, scrubbing and spraying to discover the very best items released over the last year. We hope you find inspiration and give yourself some treat this year.
BEST EVERYDAY FRAGRANCE Moschino Toy Boy – Italian fashion house Moschino has launched this fragrance that masterfully blends bergamot and Haitian vetiver with Indonesian nutmeg, clove, pear tree, rose, magnolia and Ambermax to create a winning scent. And the bear bottle looks pretty stylish in your bathroom.
BEST EVENING FRAGRANCE Paco Rabanne Pure XS Night – Paco Rabanne continues to serve up excellent scents. Pure XS Night is a heady combination of sharp ginger and ginseng balanced against warm and rich cinnamon, cacao and vanilla all on a stage of caramel. The warmth and the subtle leather finish are perfect for the evening.
TALK Miami 66
BEAUTY
BEST LUXURY FRAGRANCE Dunhill Moroccan Amber – This is one of those fragrances that your nose will keep picking up throughout the day, making you think about that amazing smell before realizing time and time again that it’s you. To describe the blend of cardamom, saffron and amber just doesn’t do justice to this exotic, rich and spicy fragrance. It is definitely bottled luxury.
BEST MOISTURIZER Clarins Men Super Moisture Balm – Clarins knew it was on to a good thing when it released a trio of moisturizers for men last year. Sitting between a richer cream and the lighter fluids on the market, the brand’s transparent and non-greasy Super Moisture Balm is a smooth product that soothes instantly due to the organic ingredients in its base.
BEST ANTI-AGEING PRODUCT La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C10 Serum – Vitamin C is 20 times more effective for skin health when applied topically and it’s recommendable that you do it every morning before applying an SPF moisturizer. This serum is a life saver for anyone who travels on longhaul flight, once the ingredients completely transform dry, dull and dehydrated skin. In a short period of time, you’ll see markedly improved mug across wrinkle appearance, imperfections and skin tone.
TALK Miami 67
BEAUTY
BEST CLEANSER Baxter of California Clay Mask AHA – With men finally taking self-care seriously, it’s not surprising that out of all the foamy washes, polishing scrubs and chemical resurfacers in this category, it was a mask that proved most popular. Behind Baxter of California are all the ingredients to make you look refreshed and healthy, from kaolin and clay to draw out dirt and oil to hydrating, calendula and aloe leaf juice and sugar acids AHAs to buff away dead skin. This product is light but purifying, and you get a visible difference after just one application.
BEST RAZOR Gillette SkinGuard Razor – The brand has finally taken things back to basics. The SkinGuard innovation uses two precisely distanced, shockabsorbing blades set either side of a mount guard, which not only lifts the hair ready to cut, but also regulates pressure and holds the skin smooth between cuts.
BEST SHAVER Philips Series 6000 Wet And Dry Electric Shaver – Phillips has been a market leader for shavers. The Series 6000 Wet and Dry Electric Shaver is another gleaming example of why it is so prestigious. BEST SHAVING PRODUCT Rituals The Ritual of Samurai Shave Cream – Rituals’ moisturizing, non-lathering Samurai Shave Cream helps the razor glide across your face so smoothly, it’s almost meditative. And the scent of basil and ginseng will surely ease you into the day.
BEST SHAMPOO Hims Shampoo – Hair loss doesn’t have to be a fact of life. The signature shampoo from confidence-enhancing healthcare company Hims uses saw palmetto, a plant extract famous for its ability to reduce DHT – the hormone responsible for causing everything from receding hairlines to bald patches. In line with one of the brand’s core principles that prevention is better than remedy, use it regularly to build strength and hair health.
BEST HAIRSTYLING PRODUCT Harry’s Texturizing Putty – Harry’s has entered several new product categories since taking home the title of Best New Grooming Brand last year, and its shower and hair products aren’t to be missed. With a reworkable hold and matte finish, this texturizing putty is the best option when you want a natural look but just need more control over freshly washed hair.
