SEARCHING FOR A PERFECT SKIN? THESE 5 PRODUCTS MIGHT HELP YOU By Alice Morais
I
t’s no surprise that from time to time, we may all suffer a face breakout or that late acne problem that persists even though we’re grown-up men. Fortunately, we now have the chance to choose from a great variety of products developed to fit our needs. Here are five suggestions:
1. An oil control cleanser For those struggling with acne or oily skin, a specialized face wash will certainly bring it under control. These products are created to regulate oil production and unclog pores. our suggestion is Kiehl’s Since 1851 Oil Eliminator Deep Cleansing Exfoliating Face Wash, $22.
2. An exfoliating scrub If you’re looking for a smoother skin, an exfoliating scrub is an easy first step. These products are designed to remove dead cells from the surface of your skin and reveal a fresh young face beneath. Our pick, DTRT First Thing First Face Scrub, $25, contains an apricot seed powder and Moroccan lava clay to gently polish skin and control oil production.

3. A face tonic If your skin is red and blotchy, a soothing face tonic will help relieve inflammation. Choose a formula with calming ingredients, such as aloe, willow bark and witch hazel. After cleansing, apply the product to your skin and enjoy the relaxing sensation. Our suggestion is Ursa Major 4-in-1 Essential Face Tonic, $26, which is made with natural ingredients like green tea and bamboo.
4. A water-based hair styler For the ones suffering from acne or redness along their forehead and hair line, it might be caused by the use of an oily hair styler. Try switching to a water-based hair styler! Our choice is Baxter Of California Hard Water Pomade, $22.
5. A tinted moisturizer Whether you’re struggling with redness, blemishes or some last-minute acne, there’s always the chance of using a tinted moisturizer to even out your skin tone. These products provide a very subtle tint to give a final touch to your skincare routine. We’ve chosen CW Beggs And Sons Tinted Moisturizer, $19.

espite of several invitations, Brazilian model Natalia Zambiasi -from the small town Carazinho , in the South region of the country - didn’t want to become a model. Her business was playing volleyball and becoming a professional athlete. But at the age of 18 Natalia had an insight and before moving to Germany where she was supposed to study and fully dedicate to volleyball - she decided to drop by Sao Paulo to know a little more about the modelling market. It wasn’t long that the fashion doors opened up to her and in a short period of time she was living in New York. Since then, Natalia hasn’t stopped working, accumulating fashion shows for designer labels like Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana.

atalia is a work-out lover and enjoys leading a healthy life, but she also likes to make sure she’s not a radical one. With welltoned muscles and an astonishing body, the model catches everyone’s eyes wherever she goes and has received the title of “Brazilian bombshell” in fashion industry. What’s the perfect recipe to show a great body in and out of the runways? It’s important to find a sport that makes you feel good... not only the body but also the mind. It’s a moment for yourself. I enjoy going to the gym. I do all kinds of exercise: aerobics, functional training , and finally stretching. It’s my therapy. It’s where I put the everyday life stress away. A label that changes any look? I love Chanel and Balmain. Being sexy is... Being confident. Loving yourself. Does fashion make the world go round? Yes! I feel accomplished when I visit a different place in the world. Fashion sells dreams, beauty and joy. I get very happy when I take this kind of feeling to a place that needs it, when I see people watching the shows with sparkling eyes, because it’s something they’ve never seen before. The best thing in life is... Doing what you like and being surrounded by positive people. Being happy.

lexandre loves the urban life, but can’t spend long periods in the city. He needs to connect himself to nature, be it in the countryside of Sao Paulo -where he was born-, at the beach, or going trekking around the forests or the typical landscapes of Brazil, always searching for breathtaking waterfalls. That’s probably why some of his friends call him “fashion roots”: he won’t let go the chance to live all the wonderful things that inspire him and show the real meaning of life. Alexandre is a Gemini, born on the World Environment Day, creative, electric and a huge life lover! He shows his essence through fashion, but free of that “too cool for school” attitude. He became a stylist by chance (and trusting his feeling) when getting closer to the fashion team from a magazine where he was working at. Holding a degree in Graphic Design, he is the responsible for the creative direction of his images. He has collaborated for some important communication vehicles in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. He has also been on the magazine i-D, with a very Brazilian work showing all the beauty and art of the headdresses made by a native Amazon tribe. The Plaza Hotel, New York Home Alone 2 and The Great Gatsby
D
ating back to the 50’s, this luxurious and historic New York institution is quite popular on the big screen. The 19-story hotel located in exuberant Upper Eastside is a place to be seen while in Manhattan. The Plaza first featured in Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller North by Northwest and became
the most filmed building in NYC. The Plaza’s most memorable guest is certainly the naughty kid Kevin in Home Alone 2. Suite 411, where he stayed in, is now named The Kevin Suite. More recently, The Plaza was taken back to the 20’s for Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby.

Known as the great castle over the Sunset strip, the hotel is a discreet retreat for A-listers. You can swing by the famous Bar Marmont and enjoy a few martinis or just take refuge at one of the comfortable cottages or penthouse suites. The ideal place for a stylish holiday.

After a crazy night in the city, the gang wake up with no recollection at all to find a baby in the closet, a chicken in the living room and a huge tiger in the bathroom – and, of course, a missing groom. Timberline Lodge, Oregon The Shining
I
t may sound weird that the setting of a 1980’s psychological thriller would become a touristic attraction, but yes, it happened. Travelers flock to Timberline Lodge to stay in the creepiest hotel in film history. Director Stanley Kubrick was asked not to depict the infamous room 217 originally featured in Stephen King’s novel (using 237 instead) as the hotel was worried about scaring off future guests. Ironically, room 217 is the most requested of all rooms. Timberline Lodge is actually a charming rustic retreat, complete with fireplaces and comfortable couches to relax while having a glass of wine. We just hope you don’t hear the words “Here’s Johnny!” during your stay.

BRAZILIAN MODEL LEADS HER CAREER LOOKING ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
T
he natural beauty, the faith and the laid-back manner to face life were the main qualities that made Catiane Lauser outstand in her modeling career, which she started in 2008, at the age 18, a little later than most of the girls. Catiane, who left home in Sao Luiz Gonzaga (a small town in South Brazil) to live in busy capital Sao Paulo, majored in Business Administration and during one of her college vacation, started working as a model abroad. She has been to countries such as France, Italy, Chile, Malta, India and Egypt due to her work. The top model plans to keep her career for some more years, once she has found out a true passion for modeling.
Since 2008, how much has your career developed? I’m very happy with my life journey and the directions my work has taken. Each year I gain more experience and richer luggage to carry with me. Which dreams are you currently trying to accomplish? And what are your plans for the future? I’m focused on this moment of my life, enjoying everything and living the most of it. The best of life is living it. And even having a major in
Business, I plan to model for some more years. I love what I do! You left home at a very early age and have worked in some countries. How do you plan to keep your pace and not get into competition issues that are so usual in the fashion world? I started modeling later than the other girls. Even away from home, I kept my feet on the ground with the same essence and values that my family has taught me. Despite of the pressure (from the business she’s in), I try to neutralize the bad things, focusing on what makes me feel good. What lesson will you forever carry with you? The lesson of respecting everyone. The best thing is not just giving a good impression, but actually respecting your fellow human being. I believe this way we gain respect and admiration for the attitudes we take in all aspects of life. What are the most remarkable works you’ve done so far? I believe all works are equally important to my career. I picture my career as a ladder and each campaign is a higher step I take. That’s why I don’t mention any work in particular. All of them have helped to my professional and personal development.
TALK Miami 29
Based on experience, what’s the best way to achieve your dreams? In my point of view, the best way to achieve my dreams and be successful is by helping others conquer their space. Is there any country where you would like to live for a while? Which one and why? I plan to live abroad, but I still haven’t decided about a specific country. I think that living abroad is a great experience that makes you change your opinions, learn new cultures and habits… This kind of knowledge is something magic. In your opinion, is there a certain moment in the career that makes it clear to everyone that a person is a successful one? No one can judge your success better than yourself. You know all the hard work it took to be in the place you are, so you know what you can do and even where to go in order to reach your goals. What are your tips to keep shape and healthy? I don’t have any special care with my skin or my body. I try to eat healthy food, exercise, sleep well and have a healthy life, even with a busy routine. I always keep balance, no extreme actions. The first thing that comes to your mind when we mention: A reference fashion designer: Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel) A reference fashion model: Alessandra Ambrósio Barefoot or high heels: High heels Beach or mountains: Beach Partying or watching films at home: watching films at home Travelling abroad or inside your country: Both Favorite trip: I went to Portugal with my family on a very special trip. We visited Santuário de Fátima (Fatima’s Sanctuary) and it was very emotional because it felt like a “thank you” moment with all the reflections, emotions and faith. Do you have any quote, poem or song lyrics that work as a life motto? Do good. Be good. And all the rest will come to you.

OMEGA’S NEW EXCLUSIVITY SEAMASTER EDIZIONE VENEZIA By Alice Morais
B
efore becoming the official watch of James Bond, the Seamaster was nothing more than a modest, waterresistant dress-watch when it was launched in 1948. Today, Omega’s collection of Seamasters has a variety of famous pieces and one item that seeks to bring the line back to its roots. The only detail is that you can only buy it in Venice, Italy. he Seamaster “Edizione Venezia” takes on a slim, rounded shape similar to the original with a thin bezel and a doomed dial. The case of this special model has been crafted from brushed and polished steel. 18k Sedna gold has been used to create the indexes. Inside rests Omega’s antimagnetic and automatic co-axial movement. Water resistance is modest at 60 meters, but it keeps in the spirit with the original’s daily watch. he steel model will be available for $6,483 and the gold version will go for $14,505. If you’re not planning to visit Venice in a near future. Let’s hope Omega releases a similar version available for the rest of the world.

GERMAN CARS YOU SHOULD BUY By Alice Morais
S
o you’re planning to buy a German car... but which model should you choose? German carmakers have become famous for creating “innovative” models that hardly differ from their existing lineup, which can make your decision a complex and sometimes, frustrating process. Performance or practicality? After taking a look at the most popular German cars taking today’s headlines, we picked out the smarter buy.
2017 Audi S3 (instead of Audi TT)
B
oth cars have the same engine, yet the S3 has more horsepower (292 versus 220), is quicker to reach 60 mph than the TT (4.7 seconds versus 5.3 seconds) and only carries around 300 extra pounds. But remember that the extra weight comes in the form of two extra practical doors and interior space. Buy now: $42,900 TALK Miami 50
LIFESTYLE
2017 BMW M240i (instead of the M2, M3 or M4)
W
hen you compare the M240i and M2 pricing and options lists, it becomes obvious that the M2 is just a fully loaded version of the “lesser” 2-series. The two cars are almost identical, mechanically. The contrasts are so subtle that just don’t justify the initial $7,000 price difference. As for the M3 and M4, the 2-series counterpart does a better allaround job considering the BMW legacy: the joy of driving. These last models have become significantly more expensive. Buy now: $45,445
2017 330i xDrive Sports Wagon (instead of the X3, X4 or X6)
T
he typical X3 buyer usually gets BMW’s smaller SUV as a family hauler, not as a car for adventures. So, the Wagon is a better option – not only is the Wagon better-looking car, but it handles better, has nearly the same amount of cargo space when the rear seats are folded down and gets better gas mileage. The X4 and X5 try to do the same job, but with higher price tags, less cargo capacity and lower MPGs.

LIFESTYLE
2017 Mercedes GLE 350 SUV
P
(instead of the E-Class Wagon) racticality always seems to favor a wagon over a large SUV, but in this case, GLE 350 SUV wins. It has 80 cubic feet of cargo space versus 57 from the E-Class and a 6,600-pound tow capacity for almost $10,000 less.
Buy now: $52,000
2017 Porsche Boxster S (instead of the 911 Carrera)
P
orsche has always been very careful to let the Cayman get too close to the 911 in performance, for a good reason. The 718’s mid-engine layout is clearly better for balance the 911’s rear-engine placement: if the brand gave the 718 enough power, it would embarrass the 911 on the track. But the Cayman S has 350 horsepower and a 4.4 second 0-60 time while the 911 Carrera has 370 horsepower and the same 0-60 time. Close enough! Buy now: $66,300 TALK Miami 52

5 GREAT EARPHONES FOR HI-FI SOUND By Alice Morais
Noble Audio Encore Buy now: $1,599
T
he Encore is the next generation of Noble Audio Kaiser 10 U and a great combination of art and technology. It’s 10 premium drivers covered by soft aluminum housings, with sharp red accents and a Kevlar-wrapped cable that seems indestructible. The sound is wide open, comprehensive and balanced.
Ultimate Ear 18 Pro Buy now: $1,500
T
he UE 18s are slightly different from the rest of this list, once they are actually custom inear monitors. To get these monitors, you go to an audiologist who examines your ear canal and formulates a mold to create a unique headphone that slides directly and deeply into your ear. Warm, round bass is the UE18s’ signature and the piece gets to a level that others never approach. The cables are known for being a bit picky, but they are simple enough to replace.

Jerry Harvey Audio Roxanne Buy now: $1,745
T
he JH Audio Roxanne is an achievement of engineering, cramming a staggering 12 balanced armature drivers inside a single inear. The number of drivers, which are divided equally between bass and treble, make for a transparent sound that can be seen as direct competitor to Noble’s Kaiser 10U. The Roxanne offers a balanced sound, but gives the listener options with a bass adjustment option embedded in the cable.
Sennheiser IE 80 Buy now: $249
T
here is no better value for your money. The polished, brushed-metal housings give a premium look and the headphones must be praised for their punchy treble and bass. The cable is removable and the bass is adjustable with the small turn of a screw on the headphone.
Shure SE535
S
hure has a consistent reputation for longevity and high quality. The SE535s are compact but powerful, housing three high-definition drivers in a beautiful see-through clear headphone for an accurate, perfect sound. Compared to higher-end earphones, the model loses a little treble clarity, but it’s still an incredible option at a fair price.
