Expanding on our mission to promote philanthropy and support charitable organizations, we launched our first initiative, FindLearnGive.org in the fall of 2012. The website serves as an information resource for the community and connects donors and nonprofits. FindLearnGive.org showcases our remarkable local nonprofit organizations. We hope you visit FindLearnGive.org to learn more about your favorite charities and discover new ones. In conjunction with the launch of FindLearnGive.org, we held our first Match Day. Match Day far exceeded our expectations with generous contributions from the community of more than $75,000. These gifts combined with additional matching funds resulted in $105,000 to local nonprofits. Our hope is this report will give you some insight on the many individuals and nonprofit organizations in our community achieving their charitable interests and goals through the Community Foundation. We connect people with nonprofits. We help individuals with their passion for giving. We help nonprofits build for the future. Founders Members of the Tallahassee Regional Estate Planning Council (TREPC) realized that many of their clients wanted to create a permanent charitable legacy but were discouraged by the associated complexity and expense. So, they formed the Community Foundation to provide a simple and cost-effective vehicle for people to create charitable legacies and for nonprofit organizations to build endowments. The result is a pool of funds that will benefit the community for generations. Our Founders are pictured below.

Helping Charities Build Endowments
Any person may choose to establish an endowment for their favorite charity or a nonprofit organization may place their endowment (or a portion of it) under the umbrella of the Foundation. Once established (with a gift of $5,000 or more), an agency endowment fund may be added to at any time by anyone. An agency endowment at the Community Foundation offers a stable, predictable and ongoing source of income for nonprofits. As the administrator of the endowment, the Foundation handles all of the investments, gifts, accounting, auditing and administrative burdens freeing the staff and board of the nonprofit from these responsibilities.

A gift at death through a bequest, trust, life insurance policy, retirement plan, or other deferred arrangement is an excellent way to create or enhance a legacy. The gift may establish a new fund or add to an existing fund. The Foundation accepts those gifts at the death of the donor and carries out the donor’s charitable wishes.
The Legacy Society provides an avenue for the Foundation to thank donors who have planned a future gift and recognize them during their lifetime. To showcase FindLearnGive.org, the Foundation held the first community wide online Match Day. Match Day was an online fundraising event made possible through the Knight Foundation and the Ethel and Edwin Ramsey Fund. Donors had the opportunity to double their gifts to their favorite charity with matching funds from the Foundation. The community’s response and generosity was remarkable. On Match Day, 445 donors made contributions totaling more than $70K to their favorite organizations on FindLearnGive.org. The Community Foundation celebrated its 15 Year Anniversary in April of 2012. In November 2012, the Foundation launched its first initiative, FindLearnGive.org. The website is an online database of local nonprofits.
FindLearnGive.org is a powerful tool serving as a resource to find local nonprofits, learn more about them and give if you wish. The database contains comprehensive information on each organization’s people, programs, financials and governance. FindLearnGive.org provides a high level of transparency for potential donors and the community helping donors make informed decisions. In addition, the website provides the opportunity for data collection to analyze and report back to the community on the local nonprofit sector as a whole or in specific areas i.e. capital campaigns, governance,
