1. TERRITORY: Cinque Terre National Park with its 3,868 hectares National Park is among the smallest of Italy and at the same time the most densely populated, with approximately 4,000 inhabitants divided in five villages: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare.

This is the true identity of the Cinque Terre stretch, with an atypical landscape and manmade strongly: that's why it's the man's Park, a territory became a World Heritage Site.

The purpose of the Cinque Terre marine protected Area, is to protect and enhance the natural, chemical characteristics, physical and marine and coastal biodiversity. In recent years the National Park and the protected marine Area of Cinque Terre, which since 1999 have joined the cetacean sanctuary, have triggered a series of projects with numerous protected areas in Italy and Europe.

2. ANTHROPIC ENVIRONMENT; Here the man in more than a thousand years has "changed" the natural environment by sectioning the steep slopes of the hills into cultivable land strips, called CiĂ n, supported by about seven thousand miles of stone walls, the length of the great wall of China. Alongside the vineyards extend cultivation of lemons, olive groves and orchards.

Natural environment; The Cinque Terre National Park is an oasis which has preserved intact the characteristics of unspoiled nature. The landscape is formed by rocks of different origin and age, is marked by a particular incline and the lack of flat sections. The coast, tall and rugged, is linear, poorly recorded by inlets and headlands, carved by the sea in pleasant and impressive caves. The climate is Mediterranean, with dry summer seasons and particularly mild winters.
