MEATY ARREST: The two Moffatview policemen with the stolen meat. Four suspects were arrested on 26 November in Rose Street, Rossettenville for possession of stolen goods - R400 000 worth of fresh meat. Captain Nkosi from Moffatview SAPS received information about a truck that was off-loading meat at a house. He proceeded to the scene with Sergeant Mokhele. On arrival they found a Ford Ranger bakkie packed with meat. They entered the house and found several carcasses of fresh meat in one of the rooms. They estimate there were +/- 70 quarters. “When one suspect was interviewed he mentioned that he met with a male at a
grocery store in Main Street on 25 November. The male told him that he needed somebody to buy the meat; he further mentioned that he was delivering it somewhere but the order was cancelled. The other suspect mentioned that he did not have the money but agreed to take the meat. The value of the meat is around R400 000, Cst Rebecca Bila, Moffatview SAPS spokesperson said. The four suspects were arrested and taken to Moffatview SAPS. Cst Bila added that the truck was stolen in Alberton on 24 November.
