Taxi violence claims lives in Vosloorus Charity Moyo charity@tametimes.co.za Vusi Buthelezi (35), a taxi owner and a member of Vosloorus Boksburg District Taxi Association (VBDTA), and his relative Philani Buthelezi were shot and killed next to MC Botha at Ebasuthwini Hostel in Vosloorus. Captain Mega Ndobe, communications officer of Katlehong police station said it is alleged that the incident is related to taxi violence. The two deceased were sitting inside a red Toyota Conquest, parked next to MC Botha drive at Basuthwini Hostel in Vosloorus. The car they were using belonged to late Vusi Buthelezi. A grey BMW stopped next to them. It is alleged that the occupants of the BMW started shooting at the Toyota. “The two brothers died on the scene and two people residing in the area, who were metres away from the incident, were also injured and taken to the hospital. We suspect that the incident is related to taxi violence. During the investigation police discovered that
several cartridges used are from a pistol and AK firearms. No arrests have been made. The suspects are still at large and police are continuing with the investigations,” said Ndobe. According to a source close to VBDTA, who wanted to remain anonymous, the association has a big conflict with another association that he did not want to disclose the name of. He suspects that the association might have led to the death of their member. Attempts to get a comment from the taxi association drew a blank, as they refused to comment when the paper was going for print. The distraught brother of the deceased, Mulamuli Buthelezi said, “It is a very terrible, painful incident and the family has lost brothers, fathers and siblings. We appeal to the law enforcement agencies to arrest the perpetrators of the incident.” Vusi Buthelezi leaves his wife and 11 children. He will be buried on 15 February at his rural home in KwaZulu-Natal. In another taxi violence incident, a 39-year-old member of Vosloorus Boksburg Danswart Taxi Association was
recently shot and killed next to Sebenza taxi rank in Vosloorus. It is alleged that he was driving a patrol car when a red Mazda 323 blocked his car and started firing. He died
alone on the scene. Twenty-five bullets were fired. The SAPS provincial taxi unit is investigating the incidents.

Help find the deceased boy’s father Charity Moyo charity@tametimes.co.za
Vosloorus police detectives are looking for Bongani Dladla, who is believed to be in his late 30s, for question regarding the murder of his son, who was found dead and dumped in a house in Hlongwane section, Katlehong on 17 August 2013. The boy was found with bruises, his body burnt WANTED: Bongani Dladla. and with other signs of abuse. Captain Piet Rossouw, communications officer of Vosloorus Police Station said, “We are appealing to people with information regarding Bongani Dladla’s whereabouts to contact the police. We believe that he might be around Ekurhuleni. He does not have an ID, but we believe that he is in his late 30s. We also believe that he will help us with information that will lead us to apprehend the suspect who is involved in the killing of his son.” The story of the boy appeared last year on the front page of tame TIMES with the identikit of the deceased. The mother of the child was identified and arrested for child neglect and the charges were later withdrawn by the court. It is alleged that the deceased was staying with his father and stepmother at a Thokoza hostel. The biological mother of the deceased alleges that she took the boy to stay with his father because she was unable to take care of him. She claims that she wanted to see the boy and was told on 12 November 2013 that the child went missing. According to police investigations, a friend of the boy’s father opened a false missing child case at Thokoza Police Station on 11 October. The man was arrested and charged with perjury. The police battled to find photographs of the deceased’s father, until they met a friend who gave it to them. Anyone with any information on Dladla’s whereabouts can contact either Warrant Officer Polane Mokadi at 083 551 5057 or Constable John Lekalakala at 072 623 1447.

The event organiser Tshepo Matoku was pleased about the standard of soccer displayed by all teams participating in the soccer tourney. He said there are limited
