Seven faculty and staff members at Texas A&M- San Antonio collaborated to share their expertise on ways students can enhance their overall well-being. This article provides an overview of eight wellness domains and includes practical tips individuals can implement to maximize well-being in each respective domain. This article has been published on the Dean of Students website. For questions or comments, please contact Dr. Mary Buzzetta, director of Student Counseling & Wellness Services(SC&WS) at, mary.buzzetta@tamusa.edu. SEPTEMBER = NATIONAL SUICIDE PREVENTION MONTH

SC&WS will be hosting virtual events as well as providing data, resources and statistics oncampus during the month of September in recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month (NSPM). This is the fifth year SC&WS has recognized national suicide prevention efforts, which helps raise awareness about suicide prevention and mental health. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, death by suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 15-34. We want students, faculty and staff to know it is O.K. to Start A Conversation about suicide and mental health and, it is O.K. to ask for help- help is out there. The focus of this initiative will be to promote mental health awareness, education and prevention. SC&WS plans to disseminate facts on suicide prevention and available resources, to include emergency resources in a reasonable and interesting format in which no active participation is necessary.
