WE’RE ALL JAGUARS
FAMILY FIRST SEMINAR
JagX is a shining star within our studentcentered approach. It is a mandatory week-long program that helps first-year and first-generation students understand the challenges of college life and the skills needed to graduate. It also allows our students to meet fellow Jaguars, interact with faculty and staff and begin to form a strong connection to our University.
We created the Family First Seminar to help first-generation students and their families overcome traditional barriers to a college education by learning more about what to expect from the experience and how best to prepare for it. The community-oriented seminar is free and includes nine one-hour sessions throughout a semester. The seminars are led by First-Year Experience staff members, and each class features a guest speaker.
