Colorful Easter cake pops are so easy to make and share
Easter cake pops are absolutely adorable and a cinch to make This Easter recipe is a simple mashup of tender cake and sweet frosting, gently formed into an egg shape. It’s so easy. And so fun! The cake for these pops can be from scratch or from a boxed cake mix No matter which you choose, it gets crumbled and mixed with frosting (same deal here, it can be homemade frosting or store-bought.) Then, the pops get covered with a candy coating and decorated to look like spring Make the Easter cake pops special by adding stripes, zigzags and polka dots in Easter pastels, along with sprinkles or shimmery finishes This can be an Easter basket surprise for the kids, or a fun project to do together as a family.
Break the baked cake into pieces and crumble into a stand mixer or a large bowl The crumbs should be coarse with no large pieces left
Step 2: Add the frosting
Add 1/4 cup of the frosting to the cake crumbs. Mix the two together on medium speed until the frosting is incorporated Test the mixture by taking a small amount in your hand and rolling it into a ball It should be moist enough that it holds together without crumbling apart. If the mixture is too crumbly, mix in more frosting a tablespoon at a time, testing after each addition.
Step 3: Shape the cake into eggs
Have a plate or baking dish ready that will go into the fridge Take two heaping tablespoonfuls of cake and frosting mixture in your hand. (If you have a digital scale, the cake egg should weigh between 1 25 and 1 5 ounces ) Squeeze and roll the cake mixture into a smooth ball Then, shape the ball into an egg by tapering one end while smoothing and rounding the other The bottom should be a little flat so it will stand on end Place the shaped cake egg onto the plate or dish When all the cake pop eggs are done, loosely cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 20 to 30 minutes to firm them up
Step 5: Coat the cake pops
Organize your work area with the candy coating, the egg-shaped cake pops, lollipop sticks, a spoon and a foam block or cake pop stand to hold the cake pops while they set.
• To start, dip one end of a lollipop stick in the candy coating, then push the coated end into the bottom of one of the cake pop eggs. (Dipping first helps keep the “egg” secure on the stick )
Step 4: Melt the candy wafers
Pour the candy wafers into a microwave-safe dish. Microwave them in 30-second bursts, stirring after each session The candy coating is ready when it’s melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat the candy, because this will make it seize
• Holding the cake pop over the bowl, spoon the candy coating over the pop, turning it to cover all sides
• Let the excess drip away Gently tap the stick with your fingernail as you slowly rotate the pop to help the excess drip off and leave a smooth surface.
• If you want to add sprinkles while the coating is wet, you can The coating sets very quickly, so you’ll need to work fast!
• Stand the cake pop up in the foam block or cake pop stand.
• Continue with the rest of the cake pops until they’re all coated
Step 6: Add decorations
Once the cake pops are coated, it’s time to decorate! Here are some ideas:
• Melt other colors of candy wafers and pour them into piping bags with small tips. (The melted coating is too thin for larger tips ) Pipe stripes, dots, zigzags and drizzles on the pops Add sprinkles to the designs while they’re still wet
• Use a small pastry brush to spread shimmer dust over the cake pops once they’re set, to give them a beautiful luster
• Put candy coating or frosting in a piping bag to add larger sprinkles or decor Pipe a small dot of frosting on the surface and stick the decor to it.
• Tie small pieces of ribbon on the sticks for a finishing flourish
Dessert recipe – make it healthier
We all are aware of the sugar we are used to It spikes the blood sugar as it Ruins the body’s ability to process sugar And the worst part: it leads to toxic sugar floating in your blood. This sugar attacks body’s cells, destroys nerves in your hands and feet, decays blood vessels in the eyes, and more That’s why those with Type II diabetes are more likely to get several forms of cancer… Have a 250% increased risk of dementia. And are 5 TIMES as likely to get heart disease. Big food companies “hide” toxic sugar in your food under all sorts of names, like high fructose corn syrup, agave, and sucrose Luckily, there are healthy substitutes that give the same sweet taste, without spiking your blood sugar and without leaving deadly sugar floating in blood.
Lactose is a toxic sugar found in dairy products. As a sugar, it can spike your blood sugar just like normal sugar Yet there’s one big difference Lactose can destroy your digestive system. When most people drink milk, eat cheese, or consume other dairy products, they end up with:
● Bloating
● Constipation
● Diarrhoea
… and all sorts of other nasty issues with their digestion.
The truth is, lactose inflames your gut which wreaks havoc all over your body. In fact, lactose is so toxic that 75% of all adults in the entire world are lactose intolerant! Most dessert recipes use milk as a way to hydrate all the ingredients
Wheat Flour:
You may have heard that wheat flour has a toxic protein called gluten, which causes leaky gut and inflammation all over your body, Even if you’re not gluten intolerant or gluten sensitive. While it is true gluten destroys your gut lining and leads to all sorts of issues like exhaustion, and bloating as Wheat flour is one of the only carbs that has a toxin called amylopectin-A that has been found to spike the blood sugar even HIGHER than pure table sugar So, use these ingredients carefully
15 Years of the Race Discrimination Ordinance in Hong Kong
Promoting equality and eliminating discrimination are essential for creating a harmonious society in a multicultural city like Hong Kong. The Race Discrimination Ordinance (RDO) plays an important role in safeguarding the rights of individuals from different racial backgrounds The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is the statutory body tasked with implementing the ordinance. As we celebrate the 15th anniversary of this landmark legislation, it is essential to reflect on the progress made and the challenges that lie ahead in achieving a truly inclusive society
The RDO came into effect in July 2009 and aims to eliminate racial discrimination and provide legal recourse for victims It prohibits discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin, and covers a wide range of areas, including education, employment, and access to goods, facilities, and services
The RDO has certainly been effective in serving as a deterrent as well as providing redress in cases of racial discrimination Since the implementation of the RDO, the EOC has handled around 1600 complaints under the race category. In 2023, the EOC received a total of 185 enquiries under the RDO and 74 official complaints were made Almost half were in the employment field and other half were non-employment related In order to help explain the application of the RDO, here are some complaint cases that were brought to the EOC and successfully resolved
Case example 1:
Raj* had experience in the local telecommunications sector and was looking for a job as a technical operator. He had responded to ads for the position several times but was unsuccessful. He finally lodged a complaint against a telecommunication company alleging that they had unnecessarily listed Chinese language skill as a requirement for the post He believed the company used the language skill requirement to screen out non-Chinese applicants.
Raj lodged a complaint of race discrimination with the EOC against the company The case was settled through fast-track conciliation after the company agreed to refer Raj to other units for their consideration and agreed to invite him for an interview when the next appropriate vacancy is available
Remarks:
The RDO makes it unlawful to for an employer to discriminate against a job applicant on the ground of his/her race. It is also unlawful for an employer to set unjustifiable requirements that applicants of certain races are less able to comply with It is advisable that employers make all recruitment decisions on the basis of consistent selection criteria Consistent selection criteria (including language requirements) should reflect the actual requirements of the job.
*Not his real name
The case (2):
Divya* is a non-Chinese-speaking resident in a building. She claimed that her building notices to residents were available in Chinese only As she could not read Chinese, she asked the management of the building to provide her with English copies of the notices However, the request was turned down.
She lodged a race discrimination complaint with the EOC against the property management of the building. The case was settled through early conciliation after the management agreed to publish all future notices in Chinese and English simultaneously as well as issuing English translations of some previous notices that were in Chinese only
Remarks:
Under the RDO, it is unlawful for service providers to apply unjustifiable conditions or requirements which in practice adversely affect customers of a particular racial group. Service providers should review their language policy to ensure that customers of different races are given equal access to services
*Not her real name
Even though the ordinance has helped in the fight against racial discrimination, there is still work to be done Unconscious prejudices, cultural disparities and language limitations may still prevent members of certain races from enjoying equal opportunities sometimes It is imperative that we continue to tackle these issues through raising awareness, training and policy recommendations
While we have laws in place, it is also the responsibility of every citizen to educate themselves about the ordinances and uphold them We must all understand the role we can play in creating a harmonious society Start by making changes in your own life and influencing people around you. Small actions can lead to big impact eventually.
As the Race Discrimination Ordinance celebrates its 15th anniversary, it is a good time to recommit to the goal of an inclusive society. It takes collective effort to change mindsets and create a culture where differences are valued, respected and celebrated The vision of EOC is to see a society with equal opportunities for all and barriers to none Let us work together towards fulfilling this vision.

Handy tips for maintaining the home
1. Minty leaves in household cleaner
You can add a few drops of mint essential oil to your homemade or unscented storebought cleaner, according to Mother Earth Living Try this recipe for a cleaning solution that works on wood, concrete, or tile floors: Dilute a cup of white vinegar in a gallon of water and add three to five drops of mint essential oil for a clean scent.
2. No moths: Moths are attracted to warm, humid spaces, so open your wardrobe door regularly to increase airflow. Clothes moths don’t like any kind of light and will rarely be seen outside of dark spaces A common misconception is that adult moths are responsible for damage to your clothing, when in fact, it’s the larvae of the moths Lavender is an age-old remedy for keeping moths at bay Sachets filled with lavender and lavender essential oil can be hung in closets and tucked into drawers where moths may nest This pleasant-smelling repellent won’t kill existing moths and larvae though, so it’s important to make sure all spaces are already free of the pests before using this method

Reinvent Yourself with Passion & Purpose
“Passion is the log that keeps the fire of purpose blazing.”
~ Oprah Winfrey
Women wear different identities at various stages in their lives We juggle many dreams and responsibilities, and in the maelstrom of fulfilling our duties as mothers, wives, daughters, and sisters, our personal dreams often get left behind Some of us make our peace with it, but for others, there comes a time when we ask ourselves, “Can I revisit my dreams and goals and make them come true?”
A change of circumstances is oftentimes the catalyst that kindles the fire of our dormant dreams and ambitions We then want to do something that will add zest to our lives There are many ways to pivot, but doing so with passion and a clear understanding of our inner motivation will enhance our chances of finding a career that is both fulfilling and meaningful For women who have not “worked” professionally, the external support system of family and community plays a crucial role in taking the first steps toward new beginnings. However, even if support is available, she is naturally visited by the ghosts of self-doubt and fear of stepping into the unknown
How can one overcome these limiting beliefs?
• Acknowledge that such feelings are normal and natural
• Focus on your abilities and achievements in your current roles.
• Instead of asking yourself, “What will people say?” focus on the question, “What would I like to say about myself?”
• Look at yourself through the lens of the glass half-full, i.e., view your situation with optimism. List everything that you have going for you
• Be vulnerable and brave – share your feelings of uncertainty and ask for help from family or outside professionals such as coaches.
What should be your next steps?
Begin with focussing on your strengths:
1. What is it that you do best and brings joy to your heart?
2 Write down a list of three things that you do extremely well and that come naturally to you
3 What is that, for which family and friends always ask for your help?
Now focus on a bigger vision:
1. What kind of work interests you the most?
2. What would you do if you had no limitations?
3 What are you curious about? What is an area that excites you and makes you want to learn more?
Define and write down three possible goals that you can set in motion
When you define these goals, focus on making them SMART, i e , your goals should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and TimeBound
The next step, which requires courage, is to take action toward fulfilling the goal This is the stage when a person is at their most vulnerable: feelings of fear of failure and impostor syndrome bog them down They must realise that while defining a goal is progress, an outcome is only possible when one takes action.
Here are three simple steps to get you to take action:
1 Write down your main goal and list out the tasks, big and small, to achieve that goal Now, choose ONE action step that you will start with
2 Pick a start date and put it on the calendar Set a deadline for your goal Also, set guardrails toward achieving this by sharing the dates and deadlines with your friends
3 Set a schedule for your action steps For example, if you want to write a book by next year, you could set a schedule each week to write a thousand words. If you want to find a job by the end of the year, tell yourself that you will apply to two companies a week.
Once you set a deadline and create a schedule, stick to the dates and goals you have set for yourself. Take tiny steps toward making your goals a reality - are you going to work on your goals every Monday, every morning, or every weekend? And at what time are you going to make it happen? Little by little, your actions will gather momentum. Before you know it, you will have achieved your goals
We urge you to remember that it is never too late to reinvent yourself; life has endless possibilities Consider the example of Prabhavati Bhagwati: for 90 years of her life, she focused on raising her daughters and being a supportive wife to PN Bhagwati, the Chief Justice of India At the age of 91, newly widowed and at a loose end, she began making her famous Gujarati snacks for family and friends who insisted on paying her, and a businesswoman was born! Now at the age of 97, Bhagwati’s venture “Nani’s Nashta” is going strong, and the young-at-heart veteran inspires the “can-do” spirit in women of all ages.
You are meant to be doing something that drives you to wake up in the morning with a spring in your step and joy in your heart. Pursue your dreams with passion and purpose and discover a new way of living

Ads Safety Report 2023 by Google
Billions of people around the world rely on Google products to provide relevant and trustworthy information, including ads. That’s why we have thousands of people working around the clock to safeguard the digital advertising ecosystem Today, we are releasing our annual Ads Safety Report to share the progress we’ve made in enforcing our advertiser and publisher policies and to hold ourselves accountable in our work of maintaining a healthy ad-supported internet.
The key trend in 2023 was the impact of generative AI This new technology introduced significant and exciting changes to the digital advertising industry, from performance optimization to image editing Of course, generative AI also presents new challenges We take these challenges seriously and will outline the work we are doing to address them head-on
Just as importantly, generative AI presents a unique opportunity to improve our enforcement efforts significantly Our teams are embracing this transformative technology, specifically Large Language Models (LLMs), so that we can better keep people safe online.
Gen AI bolsters enforcement
Our safety teams have long used machine learning powered by AI to enforce our policies at scale. It’s how, for years, we’ve been able to detect and block billions of bad ads before a person ever sees them But, while still highly sophisticated, these machine learning models have historically needed to be trained extensively they often rely on hundreds of thousands, if not millions of examples of violative content.
LLMs, on the other hand, are able to rapidly review and interpret content at a high volume, while also capturing important nuances within that content. These advanced reasoning capabilities have already resulted in larger-scale and more precise enforcement decisions on some of our more complex policies Take, for example, our policy against unreliable Financial Claims which includes ads promoting get-rich-quick schemes. The bad actors behind these types of ads have grown more sophisticated They adjust their tactics and tailor ads around new financial services or products, such as investment advice or digital currencies, to scam users
To be sure, traditional machine learning models are trained to detect these policy violations Yet, the fast-paced and ever-changing nature of financial trends make it, at times, harder to differentiate between legitimate and fake services and quickly scale our automated enforcement systems to combat scams LLMs are more capable of quickly recognizing new trends in financial services, identifying the patterns of bad actors who are abusing those trends and distinguishing a legitimate business from a get-rich-quick scam. This has helped our teams become even more nimble in confronting emerging threats of all kinds
We’ve only just begun to leverage the power of LLMs for ads safety. Gemini, launched publicly last year, is Google's most capable AI modeI We're excited to have started bringing its sophisticated reasoning capabilities into our ads safety and enforcement efforts
Our work to prevent fraud and scams
In 2023, scams and fraud across all online platforms were on the rise. Bad actors are constantly evolving their tactics to manipulate digital advertising in order to scam people and legitimate businesses alike To counter these ever-shifting threats, we quickly updated policies, deployed rapid-response enforcement teams and sharpened our detection techniques.
In November, we launched our Limited Ads Serving policy , which is designed to protect users by limiting the reach of advertisers with whom we are less familiar Under this policy, we’ve implemented a “get-to-know-you” period for advertisers who don’t yet have an established track record of good behavior, during which impressions for their ads might be limited in certain circumstances for example, when there is an unclear relationship between the advertiser and a brand they are referencing Ultimately, Limited Ads Serving, which is still in its early stages, will help ensure well-intentioned advertisers are able to build up trust with users, while limiting the reach of bad actors and reducing the risk of scams and misleading ads
A critical part of protecting people from online harm hinges on our ability to respond to new abuse trends quickly Toward the end of 2023 and into 2024, we faced a targeted campaign of ads featuring the likeness of public figures to scam users, often through the use of deepfakes When we detected this threat, we created a dedicated team to respond immediately. We pinpointed patterns in the bad actors’ behavior, trained our automated enforcement models to detect similar ads and began removing them at scale We also updated our misrepresentation policy to better enable us to rapidly suspend the accounts of bad actors.
Overall, we blocked or removed 206 5 million advertisements for violating our misrepresentation policy, which includes many scam tactics and 273.4 million advertisements for violating our financial services policy We also blocked or removed over 1 billion advertisements for violating our policy against abusing the ad network, which includes promoting malware
The fight against scam ads is an ongoing effort, as we see bad actors operating with more sophistication, at a greater scale, using new tactics such as deepfakes to deceive people. We’ll continue to dedicate extensive resources, making significant investments in detection technology and partnering with organizations like the Global Anti-Scam Alliance and Stop Scams UK to facilitate information sharing and protect consumers worldwide.
Investing in election integrity
Political ads are an important part of democratic elections Candidates and parties use ads to raise awareness, share information and engage potential voters. In a year with several major elections around the world, we want to make sure voters continue to trust the election ads they may see on our platforms That’s why we have long-standing identity verification and transparency requirements for election advertisers, as well as restrictions on how these advertisers can target their election ads All election ads must also include a “paid for by” disclosure and are compiled in our publicly available transparency report In 2023, we verified more than 5,000 new election advertisers and removed more than 7.3M election ads that came from advertisers who did not complete verification
Last year, we were the first tech company to launch a new disclosure requirement for election ads containing synthetic content As more advertisers leverage the power and opportunity of AI, we want to make sure we continue to provide people with the greater transparency and the information they need to make informed decisions. Additionally, we’ve continued to enforce our policies against ads that promote demonstrably false election claims that could undermine trust or participation in democratic processes
Overall 2023 numbers
Our goal is to catch bad ads and suspend fraudulent accounts before they make it onto our platforms or remove them immediately once detected AI is improving our enforcement on all fronts. In 2023, we blocked or removed over 5.5 billion ads, slightly up from the prior year, and 12 7 million advertiser accounts, nearly double from the previous year Similarly, we work to protect advertisers and people by removing our ads from publisher pages and sites that violate our policies, such as sexually explicit content or dangerous products. In 2023, we blocked or restricted ads from serving on more than 2 1billion publisher pages, up slightly from 2022 We are also getting better at tackling pervasive or egregious violations. We took broader site-level enforcement action on more than 395,000 publisher sites, up markedly from 2022.
To put the impact of AI on this work into perspective: last year more than 90% of our publisher page level enforcement started with the use of machine learning models, including our latest LLMs Of course, any advertiser or publisher can still appeal an enforcement action if they think we got it wrong. Our teams will review it and, in the cases where we find errors, use it to improve our systems
Staying nimble and looking ahead
When it comes to ads safety, a lot can change over the course of a year: the introduction of new technology such as generative AI to novel abuse trends and global conflicts And the digital advertising space has to be nimble and ready to react That’s why we are continuously developing new policies, strengthening our enforcement systems, deepening cross-industry collaboration and offering more control to people , publishers and advertisers
In 2023, for example, we launched the Ads Transparency Center , a searchable hub of all ads from verified advertisers, which helps people quickly and easily learn more about the ads they see on Search, YouTube and Display We also updated our suitability controls to make it simpler and quicker for advertisers to exclude topics that they wish to avoid across YouTube and Display inventory Overall, we made 31 updates to our Ads and Publisher policies Though we don’t yet know what the rest of 2024 has in store for us, we are confident that our investments in policy, detection and enforcement will prepare us for any challenges ahead.

International Women’s Day: Why March 8 is known as International Woman’s Day Russian women protested the possibility of a World War (1914 to 1918) on February 23, 1913, as per the Julian calendar that was then in use in Russia. According to the Gregorian calendar, which was much more widely accepted elsewhere, that date translated as March 8 The earliest version reported was a "Women's Day" organized by the Socialist Party of America in New York City on February 28, 1909. This inspired German delegates at the 1910 International Socialist Women's Conference to propose "a special Women's Day" be organized annually, albeit with no set date; the following year saw the first demonstrations and commemorations of International Women's Day across Europe. After the Russian Revolution in 1917, IWD was made a national holiday on March 8; it was subsequently celebrated on that date by the socialist movement and communist countries The holiday became a mainstream global holiday following its promotion by the United Nations in 1977. International Women's Day is a public holiday in several countries. The UN observes the holiday in connection with a particular issue, campaign, or theme in women's rights
