Dear Taos Municipal Schools Family,

SUPERINTENDENT

Dr. Antonio Layton Jr.

Taos Municipal Schools reviewed the 2023 – 2024 NMVistas released November 15, 2024 by New Mexico Public Education Department and continued our commitment to boosting proficiency scores across our district, with a strong emphasis on math, reading, science, and attendance. Understanding the significance of these core subjects, our administration developed a comprehensive goal setting strategy that includes data-driven practices tailored to the unique needs of our students. Our primary goal is to cultivate an engaging learning environment that promotes academic growth and empowers every student to reach their full potential.

To enhance student performance in math and reading, we continue to focus on providing additional resources and personalized learning experiences within the classroom. Our efforts include targeted instruction that meets the diverse needs of our students and engages them in meaningful learning activities. Additionally, we are committed to advancing science proficiency through hands-on experiments and real-world applications, enabling students to connect theoretical concepts with practical experiences. Our educators are highly committed to inspiring a passion for engaged learning among our young scholars.

Attendance is another vital focus, as it plays a crucial role in student success. We are implementing incentive programs to promote consistent attendance and are actively engaging families to highlight the importance of regular school participation. By fostering a supportive and motivating school culture, we aim to minimize absenteeism and ensure that all students are present to take advantage of the educational opportunities available to them. Collectively, these initiatives underscore our steadfast commitment to enhancing proficiency scores and preparing our students for success in their academic endeavors and beyond.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Letter to Taos Municipal Schools Community
