Routes of Fire Escape Position of smoke & fire Alarms
In my man pier building there are three double wide exits to the North and South, as well as two double wide doors to East and West. The furthest one could be from each exit is 15m at most. While on the second floor there are access to 12 different flights of stairs. Each two wrapping around one of six elevator shafts. Each interior administration or office room is located next to a possible main exit. For the building on the immediate site, there are eight possible exits. Three about 20m apart on the North and South, with one exit either side to the East and West. There is a 5m distance roughly to the nearest exit. There will be smoke and fire alarms fitted in each room, and extra alarms in each room for every 5 meters the enclosed space stretches.

Enough space for multiple rows of people to walk through at a time. The doorways to the public main buildings are two sets of double size doors. at 2m high and 1m wide. Elevator shafs surrounded by two sets of 1.5m wide stairwayss Loading and Delivery Access
Within the main buildings there are sets of stairs which wrap around the elevators. The stairways are 1.5m wide, allowing for two people to walk up the steps at once. However there is not enough room for a lot of people to use the stairway at the same time. Potential risk would have to be added by labelling the stairs encouraging people to take care against oncoming people. Vehicle access for deliveries or loading will be accessible to the North East Corner of the building. The deliveries can be loaded through the main entrances or a access only route into the building,, loading directly into the kitchen or building administration rooms. The delivery access area is safely closed off from general public interaction, reducing the risk of accidents.

BA (Hons) Architecture Student Award / Course news / News in London – Published 5th Jun 13
A group of students from Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) made it to the national finals of the Young Enterprise Graduate Start-Up Scheme in May, following their university’s first venture into the renowned scheme which has been running for over 50 years. The Egg Den, comprising of Tari Eguruze, Josh Sherwell, Louis Vinet, Jenny Gomes and Esra Abdelrahman was one of the top ten companies represented by eight universities at the Awards Ceremony held at Canary Wharf. The Egg Den is an art & design enterprise providing services in the field of events management, architecture, illustration and graphic design. The students, from Architecture and Illustration have been working together since December 2012 when the company was first formed as part of AUB’s participation in the Young Enterprise scheme for universities, Start-Up. AUB students formed five companies covering subjects such as upcycling, theatre performances and selling artworks online. Students from Acting, Fine Art, Textiles and Interior Architecture and Design also took part, working with their industry mentors to set up and run a business from scratch. The Start-Up Awards provide an opportunity for university students to demonstrate their progress to a panel of professional judges before all the companies are asked to liquidate at the end of July in order to learn about the complete life cycle of a business. AUB students gained a great deal from their participation in the scheme, learning invaluable skills such as setting up a business bank account and learning how to fulfil company roles in a simulation of a real life experience. Third year Architecture student Tari Eguruze commented “We’re very grateful for this opportunity. We’ve learnt a great deal about business and professional practice beyond university. We now plan on continuing what we’ve started, building on what we’ve already achieved.” AUB Young Enterprise representative Hannah Cook commented “The Egg Den’s stand looked good, their product / service stood out as being original and they presented well.” Kavita Hayton Head of the School of Media who led the scheme for AUB commented “We’re really proud of The Egg Den team, they’ve only been going for 5 months and to make it to the Awards Final is a great achievement. This year the national Start Up scheme featured 366 companies made up of 2100 students, so to be in the top ten is brilliant.’

Executive Summary
Strategy
As a dedicated multidisciplinary practice, we aim to take on commissions and produce bespoke outcomes as a result of our variety of skills from a specially considered team of artists and designers. Our diverse skill set enhancing each field of art we work in.
Our role involves seeking out clients who would benefit the most from the services we provide. Ideal projects would require our architectural design skills to serve as the basis for establishing an overarching definition to the project, while our illustration skills help us to enhance the artistic impact of what we set out too achieve; with our graphic design skills primarily being used to determine our visual identity.
We aim to deliver a full package of art & design immersion. Working in a range of fields, within ourselves. Our services include architectural design, graphic design elements, and exhibiting our own artistic endeavours. We are proposing a solution to the lack of artistic cohesion with the art and design community. A company offering services from a well versed, broad range of art practices has more to offer than any singular professional. There are enough architectural practices, and freelance illustrators and designers, but not enough collaboration or integration of the professions.
34
Depending on the particular project being undertaken an appropriate project manager will be chosen from the team with the most relatable skill set to lead the project. All members of the team will work together to fulfill one particular vision determined between the client and the project manager.
Options Appraisal
Commercial Aspects
We want to encourage and establish the importance of art in today’s commerce. Our experience as students gives us a unique perspective and insight into the emerging world art in culture. This is achievable due to our experience within various pathways of art, and leading us to more practical applications of our architectural, illustration, and graphic design skills. All of which are necessary for the realization and launch of retail, leisure, entertainment, publishing, film, music, and fashion.
Art and design is a prevalent feature in many commercial projects. It plays a vital role in terms of presentation and marketability. Our company aims to focus on presentation and promotion, in addition realising projects, using our extensive art and design skills. We’re a team of university students and friends, each hailing from a different artistic discipline. Between us – whether personally or universally – we have years worth of experience in the broad field of the art and design world. Including practical skills and knowledge acquired from illustration, graphic design, art history, and architecture. As well as knowledge and experience within curating, and managing art exhibitions or events.
Initially our company was to function solely as an architectural practice. However we soon decided that we could transcend that idea, expanding what it means to be a design practice. Architecture is a form of artistic design encompassing various artistic applications.
We intend to provide the “full package” for clients with our specialised knowledge of art and design, removing the need for them to seek out other companies to deal with realizing their proposed projects, in addition to advertising, and promoting.
We realized that with the added perspectives of illustration and graphic design we could push the boundaries of what it meant to be a design practice. We could offer far more to a high standard, to a broader clientele.
We would work to the highest professional standards whilst working on every aspect of a project.
As an initial starting project to establish ourselves, we targeted an achievable area we could implement our skills, in the form of a self initiated art exhibition showcasing the artistic talents of local university students. This required us to go about acquiring and considering the best and most viable venue for us to undertake. The results enabled us to test our capabilities as a design team, making use of our multidisciplinary skill sets.
Our target clients initially would be institutions such as art centres, universities, and museums for whom art and design is an integral part of their commercial identity.
35

Affordability
Achievability
We would primarily make money from taking on committed work from potential clients. Otherwise we would seek funding and sponsorships from interested institutions or organisations within the art and design industry.
Due to the success of our exhibition, we are hoping to apply to recreate the exhibition next year at Somerset House’s Pick me Up festival, which is an annual event around Easter. Pick Me Up offers free exhibition space at a very high profile internationally renowned location.
It’s difficult to estimate the price of each project we may undertake as the cost for each project could vary greatly. The projects could range from promotional material design, to exhibitions and events. So far we have successfully managed and organised a self initiated art exhibition. The exhibition venue was at the BIC. We acquired the venue through our contacts at AUB’s marketing department. The BIC is an international arts event and conference centre in Bournemouth, which can host events for two thousands visitors. They host concerts, weddings, function, and even visiting accommodation suites for visitors. Similarly, the materials needed to mount the artwork was also provided through our connections to the University. Any other miscellaneous items used for the event where bought through our own funding, which was split between the team members, reducing the individual costs considerably. The value of our work in terms of promoting ourselves and the contacts we gained was worth the cost of the exhibition.
36
It is a festival which showcases talents of graphic art and encourages collaborative art through workshops and events. This is very similar to what we had in mind for our own exhibition, and believe if we can host something at Somerset House, it will only benefit us further. Increasing our recognition and contacts further. The deadline to apply is the end of September. Hopefully by that time we would have compiled a good portfolio and application. At the moment we are in the early stages of generating ideas for another event and have began contacting people we believe who would be interested in participating. Including a London fashion, architecture, and music student magazine. As well as a talented architecture student who combines architecture and fashion. We are very careful to only take on projects within our currently limited budget, instead relying on our contacts in the art community to help reduce costs of jobs. The money we do spend is considered an investment into building up our own awareness in the public.

Promotion & Publicity
We organised a gallery event centred around For promotion we created posters, flyers, and Illustrated Narrative submitted by written and programmes which we distributed around illustrated works of AUB students. Bournemouth, Boscombe, and surrounding areas. Our aims where to promote and exhibit In addition to this, we were able to get student work and toe encourage collaboration promoted with an online presence. We were and interest in visual storytelling. We were on the BH Live website, the “What’s on in hoping that the exhibition would also serve as a Bournemouth”site, we even were promoted by way to raise our profile. a well known member of the comics industry, Paul Gravett. We scheduled the exhibition for the 8th of April to the 14th. The location was the BIC’s Bourne Lounge exhibition space. Curating & Collecting Artwork We collected artwork from prospective artists by first sending on a submission brief via e-mail to AUB students. We quickly received replies over the course of a couple of months. Eventually we had gathered up to 100 pieces of artwork and began to realize that our exhibition was happening. And it was our job to display and set up the exhibition for the sake of the artists.

Exhibition space & Venue There will be different courses displaying their work in different forms and sizes, here only jewellery was displayed. The exhibition on the right is a architecture exhibition at the VNA. It displays only images from plans and sections to drawings. The frames for the work cannot be seen, as in most architecture displays the frames are not visible and so the work stands TDO architects show this in their Rock Vault out more. This is also helped by the black wall exhibition for the artist Hannah Martin. Her behind the work, although white would be jewellery has a Noir theme and the architects much better. used this theme to design all their stands. The way the light shines in through the gaps, and the The lights at the top are very small only needed way the jewellery is lit up artificially all convey a to light up the edges of the display case. At the Noir character from different stories. This idea BIC we have huge light bulbs at the top, artificial that the narrative can be carried through to the lighting however is not such a problem as the smallest details shows dedication to both the room is well lit. There are however spaces at artists and the work being displayed, it shows a the back where light does not reach so artificial level of understanding and that is what I think lighting are required. this exhibition should try to achieve. However the exhibition TDO created was for one specific genre, our exhibition is for a variety. The research behind setting up an exhibition space is quite difficult because every exhibition needs a narrative of some sort and so the way you set up the work and decide which work works well with where is dependent on the work itself.

I volunteered for a summer public arts festival at the Southbank Centre. I assistant visitors , helped out with live events, and contributed suggestions for upcoming activities.

2013 - Volunteering @ Southbank Centre: Festival of Neighbourhood
My Experience Volunteering at Southbank Centre This summer was my very first experience volunteering at Soouthbank Centre. I was particularly interested in the area for the past few months after learning that it was an arts centre, gallery, theatre, concert hall, and community space. The site also not only had a number of places to eat, free WIFI access, but also four floors of free public lounge and seating space. You could even bring your own food, and stay as long as you wanted, with enough room for private seating or group meet-ups.
There were family oriented days, which tried to get the parents interacting with their kids. And in the evenings there were performances and events for older audiences to enjoy. On top of that, there were weekly events to entice passers by and perspective visitors from enjoying the surroundings, and taking advantage of whatever was going on in our around the site. Some days there were artists, designers, singers, dancers, and musicians bringing the site to life. Other days there were exhibitions, installations and workshops to get people involved and I had recently graduated from university, and hopefully learn something new. while looking for jobs, I wanted to do something in the meantime that allowed me to be involved My favourite weekend activities were probably with the arts. After periodically looking on the ‘London Lines’ poetry event and ‘My the Southbank Centre’s recruitment page, I Deptford’ spoken word poetry evening. eventually saw that there were positions open Through ‘London Lines’ I had the opportunity for volunteers. to interact with established poets and contribute my own writing to the events. I even There was a minor interview process and briefing got some invaluable advice from some of the before I could get started, but soon I was a fully visiting poets about writing and poetry. It was exciting from July, and worked roughly every Saturday seeing such talented young people being able and Sunday, from 11:30am to 3pm. to express themselves from words and music in such a well known location. Before each shift we were briefed on the different activities that were going on over Another event I enjoyed was the ‘Pelourinho the weekend. The varying festival events Weekend’; a Brazilian and Afro-Caribbean were aiming to promote the idea of being inspired weekend festival. It was probably the of neighbourly and the core concepts of liveliest weekend I had experienced so far. Even community. There were workshops, games, the music could be heard through the site. and shows on for younger children.

I think I would have to say that the most successful weekend in terms of interactive activity was probably the ‘Urban Arts’ weekend. It had passersby and visitors using the popup basketball court, participating in parkour training, and even joining in the graffiti art. This was the weekend which had the most outdoor activity for children, meaning it attracted entire families down, and kept them on site as long as the children could keep them there.
As a volunteer I was also lucky enough to be able to visit the Hayward Gallery’s current ‘Alternative Guide to the Universe’ exhibition, which I visited twice and had quite a keen interest in. The fact that I could just walk in for free was especially helpful.
The worst thing about volunteering was probably the bright yellow, wasp-attracting, uniforms that all volunteers had to wear. But we at least had a choice to wear T-Shirts, HoodedWe were usually paired with another member jumpers, or waterproof jackets with matching of volunteer staff during our shifts, and all of cap s and bags. the volunteer staff I encountered were friendly and easy to work with. I worked on a short film documentary as a writer & journalist for a youth lead dance performance organised by Rambert Dance. I also wrote the informative hand -out for the audience for the final perfomance.

2013 - Short Film Documentary @ Vintage Rambert
Vintage Rambert Creative Process “Polish Folk Song” The music playing before the show is reminiscent of Polish Folk music, but uses Russian influences to represent Marie Rambert’s mixed cultural background. Marie Rambert herself was born in Poland, but had to speak Russian at school. “A Tragedy of Fashion” The introductory staircase performance of “A Tragedy of Fashion” is a rendition of the 1926 ballet, choreographed by Frederick Ashton. This production is considered to be the birth of British ballet. The dancers are wearing the costumes of the 2004 recreation of the ballet.
“The RamBams” The fictional characters and comedy duo “The RamBams” are in inspired by Marie Rambert’s love of laughter and playful personality. Their name comes from Marie Rambert’s original surname. “Lady into Fox” This scene refers to the time during WWII when Marie Rambert continued to bring her productions to the public, in spite of most theatres shutting down during the war. The performance is inspired by the 1939 production “Lady into Fox.” The accompanying music is inspired by the 1940’s and the Blitz.
“The Rite of Spring” The first scene represents Marie Rambert’s early years. She was invited by Sergei Diaghilev to assist Vaslav Nijinsky’s choreography for Igor Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring”, premiered for the Ballets Russes.
“Lord Snowdon Photoshoot of Marie Rambert” Using Lord Snowdon’s photos of Marie Rambert taken during the later years of her life, the choreography expresses what we imagine the photos captured of her passion. The music is a blend on 1920’s swing and contemporary pop, which is reminiscent of the beginnings of career.
“Isadora Duncan” This scene is inspired by Marie Rambert’s idol, Isadora Duncan. Watching Isadora dance for the first time was such a pivotal moment in Marie Rambert’s life that she even stormed into Isadora Duncan’s dressing room after her performance. The costume is based on a Grecian style dress that Isadora Duncan was photographed wearing.
“The celebrity of Marie Rambert (1888-1982)” The final scene is about Marie Rambert’s fascination with fame. She was a celebrity in her own right, and was even featured on an episode of “This is your Life” in 1962. What can we take away from the legacy left behind by the late great Dame Marie Rambert?

Bright Agency Illustration Agency
I worked as an editorial, design, and marketing assistant for an illustration & publishing agency. I wrote and designed email campaigns, as well as designed a promotional e-zine to help promote their presence at an upcoming arts fair. I also had the opportunity to write editorial articles for their blog and assist with designing content for the website.

2014 - editorial, marketing, & design internship @ the bright agency
What is it like working at Bright?
What did you get out of it?
Very intensive. Everyone is always working on multiple things. Everyone’s roles blur together in one way or another. Everyone is very friendly with each other and tries to help out each other when they can. The MD seems to try her best to be involved with the team personally despite keeping everyone working hard. It seems like she wants everyone to work hard, but to enjoy their time there. The first 3 weeks for me was a great learning experience. I worked on a few important projects, worked closely with team members, and got positive feedback. The final 2 weeks were not as I was enjoyable as left alone and had to constantly ask out new tasks. The final tasks not being very challenging or engaging.
Real world industry experience. I knew a lot about illustration and design from the perspective of an artists, but knew very little about the bending the scenes of how they get work. From my time I saw just how business driven even the art world is. I saw how the agents expertly work between multiple clients and artists, juggling projects, and going to meetings and events. I had the opportunity to contribute to the blog on few posts. I designed and edited, and even worked on something new that Bright had not attempted before. I got feedback on my performance and know how to move forward. I was surprised to hear that I didn’t complete some projects well enough, as I didn’t get any specific feedback from those projects to indicate that.
62
What did working behind the scenes of an Would you recommend the experience to illustration agency bring you? other people interested in our internship programme? If yes why? Industry experience. I know a lot more about how agents work with clients and artists I would recommend people to work there and authors now. I know the best way to if they are interesting in developing agency address an agent based on what I’ve seen of experience. Regardless of what your specific how they react to artists. I know more about role is, you are bound to occasionally work in the events they go to and the lengths go to other areas too. Have a versatile set of skills promote their artists. From what I’ve learnt I in art, design, marketing, and sales. Have an feel more confident about working in a similar interest in the other areas, and maybe do some environment, knowing more of what to expect research. I feel Bright should understand that next time around. I also know what to expect there is a learning curve and the experience if I approach an agency as an author or artists. would be overwhelming for inexperienced I also know where to find similar agencies and applicants. It was disappointing that the work the events they got to. load was less engaging at the end and that I was largely ignored. When there are engaging tasks to do, the experience is great. Perhaps create a full weekly schedule ahead of time and allow and understand for mistakes.

Tari:• Newsletter - gather up info and get something out section by section: mag, tumblr, web, soundcloud, youtube, overall news etc.
Youtube Robert: • Youtube - Uploads twice a week. Dan has a list ready to go. Szymon will create the cover art.
Soundcloud Robert: • Soundcloud - Once a week if not more. Soraan has a few mixes to send. Tumblr Szymon: • Tumblr - One post a day, with 100 words would be a big help. Soraan:• Tumblr - The blog is back up, going to be far more active. Soraan & Szymon are getting writers in. 70
September Website Tari:• Web - Do the seo for existing posts, reupload images, check alt tags etc. Carry on posting. • BFI Film Festival film screenings start this week. • Begin compiling reviews of as many good films as possible.

September News Soraan:• Had meeting with potential SEO manager. • In terms of advertising we should be able to get some in, but shouldn’t expect to be able to print with it. If we ever want to print we will have to do an agency. • Method to go about getting the advertising money in is basically face to face networking. I think for tumblr we should do cheap adverts to indie brands, startups and the same with the website but at an almost free of charge rate. • Magazine advertising we should be able to get a bit more for it as we have nice stats and maybe a bit more established brands. If we want to get medium / big brands we have to be able to show them existing advertising in the magazine to say we’ve worked with XZY. I think it would be work targeting new / small brands via email as they will be more responsive, anything thats established would need us to chase up on them via calls and emails.
Tumblr Soraan:• Soraan & Rob continue to keep record of tumblr notes and analytics for the past 3 months. • Earlier stats lost due to the ‘heart bleed virus’. Formulate estimate stats for the past 12 months informed by monthly averages. Estimates to have 500 - 1.5k visits a month.
Website Website:• Writers must pitch article ideas via Google docs to their editor. Ideally submit 2 articles every 2-3 weeks per writer. • Editors approve or disapprove. Writers write up a draft article 400-700 ideally. Save as pending and wait for editor to edit and post. 72
October Youtube Youtube:• We need to update the website link on Youtube to 7sobm.co.uk, instead of 7sobm.com.
News Chritian:• Welcome to Seven Shades of Black Turku [PR Manager] and Niusha [new Fashion Editor] - the other editors are in this group too so I hope you’ll get to know each other. • So we should all keep the game going. I want more articles to come in on a regular basis and thanks for those who have already started sending me materials. • If there are any questions so far please feel free to email or message me and I will get back to you asap!

Summer 2015: Utilising the top bands and songs eleased around this time as the seclection of music for creatives to remix and mashup would be ideal Even the film Pitch Perfect 2 is released May 15th 2015. Which, if anything like the first film, will have mashups being a big part of the film. Talking about this will help. Winter 2015: By this point the creative invite would be completed and the festival season would be over, so we would simply be promoting Black XS and showcasing what we did throughout the year. We could commision artists to mashup artists pictures as art of a promotional campaign.

Brompton Library
Comic Book Reading Group
I designed posters for and organised a reading group for a local library. I’m also planning on organising comic book workshops for young people and retired artists. Hopefully building interest in creating their own comics.
