Tara’s fab salon is a fam Opening is a big hit - no matter what! There was a real Irish showbiz feel to the opening of the Tara Lynch hair and Beauty Salon in heswall. Tara’s brother Shane, from Boyzone, and Keavy, from B*Witched performed the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Brimstage Road salon. They were also joined by their sister Naomi who braved the bad weather on stilts! Tara is no stranger to the world of showbusiness either, having appeared in the Irish girl band Fab!, back in the 1990s. But she has swapped the microphone for the scissors and hair dryer to set up her own salon. The mum of two, who lives in Little Neston with husband Andy, trained as a hairdresser and beautician and worked mobile before embarking on the new venture. Tara met Andy when he was a tour manager with Fab. Tara finished with the band because she had a young son at the time
and it was tough being on the road. So the couple moved to Neston. Tara said: “My friend, Julie Ann, who lives in North Wales, is working with me at the salon too. We have worked in the last two previous salons together for the past nine years so it’s lovely to have us both working together. The salon has been open for just over a month and it has been really busy so far. Shane, famous for such hits as No Matter What and Picture of You, said: “Tara has done herself proud. She has worked hard to get where she is, and it’s my pleasure to have the honour of opening it for her.” Keavy, who has just finished a reunion tour with the band who enjoyed chart success with C’est La Vie, added: “I am so proud of my sister, Tara, she has done what she set out to do this year and has opened her own salon.”

Jenny Stock, the newly appointed Chairman of the Heswall Hall Community Trust, making a presentation to Graham Hurton, the retiring founder Chairman of the Trust
In 2009 Heswall Hall was threatened with closure and Graham led a Steering Group to investigate the feasibility of transferring the Hall to the Community. Refurbished medical centre offers more PATIENTS are being offered a much wider range of services at the the new Heswall and Pensby Group Practice. Work began in October last year to refurbish the Heswall Medical Centre, on Telegraph Road, which will house the merged Heswall and Pensby practices. Included are new consulting rooms, a minor operations suite, areas Wirral for Wetrooms specialise in WE DESIGN, bespoke wetrooms and bathrooms physiotherapists and counsellors, plus a lift and full disabled access. SUPPLY, FIT Dr Sophia Nelson said: “The new centre will enable us to offer a wider range of care & INSTALL options, as well as providing room to keep expanding the next few years as our JUST over CALL... list size increases further.
The Geberit AquaClean range is comfortable and stylish too. And with a model to suit every style of home, it would make a perfect addition to your new spa-like bathroom. Q Should I be concerned about how much water is used in spray-function toilets?
A The Geberit AquaClean 4000 only uses 400ml of water at each use, and although this is more than a normal loo, there are positive environmental aspects to this choice, such as using less toilet paper. Water, chemicals and other raw materials are wasted in the production of toilet paper, and while it’s biodegradable, the process still leaves chemical traces in our water supply. Q I’m really interested in buying a Geberit toilet with a spray function, but I have heard they’re very expensive. Are there any more affordable alternatives?

Legal Column with Jackie Campion, Principal Solicitor at Campion Solicitors
APPOINTING AN EXECUTOR IN YOUR WILL When someone has made a Will and appointed executors in their will, the executors will be responsible for carrying out the deceased’s wishes.
When someone is named the executor of a Will, they are being asked to take responsibility for administering the estate of the person who made the Will, called the testator, upon the testator’s death. The term ‘estate’ simply refers to all the property a person leaves behind.
Time and trouble When choosing an executor it is important to look at the practicalities of what you are trying to achieve under the will. Honesty and conscientiousness are important, but if you are appointing more than one executor - and often that’s a good idea - they also need to be team players. They need to be able to be able to make decisions about financial and other matters, in the interest of the beneficiaries as a whole and not just themselves. They need to have the time and the inclination to deal with paperwork, the extent of which should not be underestimated. Most people think in terms of appointing their beneficiaries as executors - often their wife, husband, civil partner and children - and let them sort it out.
But what happens if they do not get on? You could ask a neutral member of the family, or a friend, to be an executor. But when the time comes, is it fair to ask someone who does not benefit under the will, and cannot charge for their time, to deal with it?
Professional executors
An option worth exploring is to appoint professional executors. A careful choice of professional executors can save time, hassle and tax. There are different types of professional executors: solicitors, accountants, banks. Solicitors alone are governed by rules which limit their fees to what is fair and reasonable, and also have full professional indemnity. Probably the main area where professional executors can help is in being detached, so that they can make decisions - sometimes difficult ones - in the interests of the beneficiaries, without having any vested interests themselves. At Campion Solicitors we will give you clear advice when making a Will and details of a fixed fee. All our initial interviews are free and without obligation to enable you to then make a decision on how to proceed. Call Jackie Campion on 0151 342 9021 for a no obligation meeting.

Any Problem Can Potentially Be Addressed • The Bowen Technique is gentle, subtle and relaxing hands-on treatment. • Not a form of massage; there is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue. • Safe for people of all ages; promotes healing, pain relief and recovery of energy. Appointments take about 45 minutes and can be performed through light clothing. There are a series of short breaks allowing your body to respond to the gentle moves, subtle and fine adjustments which re-balance, relieve tension and reduce pain. Three or four treatments at weekly intervals are usually sufficient to achieve lasting relief from even long standing pain. To receive maximum benefit it is recommended not to mix with other therapies such as massage, reflexology, physiotherapy etc. Treatment Costs £35 for an individual session or £90 in advance for a series of three.

Going green means the e Heswall Primary School is one of only 12 in the country to be recognised for its outstanding commitment to environmental issues. The school has been named as an Eco School Ambassador, an honour it will hold for the next two years, in an acknowledgment of its unstinting dedication to the Eco-Schools cause. Only 11 other schools in England have been named as ambassadors, and only one other in the whole North West region. Heswall Primary School has demonstrated exceptional levels of pupil leadership and whole school support and sustainability issues have been embedded into the school’s curriculum. Headteacher John Roberts said: “We are very proud of our achievements to date but it has never been about winning awards. Our long term vision has been to develop sustainable practises and for our pupils, parents and staff to consider the impact that their actions have on the environment. Our pupils take great pride in their school environment and enjoy outdoor activity sessions. We look forward to
supporting other schools in the North West region with their own eco-schools projects over the next two years.” A recent example of Heswall Primary School’s commitment to sustainability was how they embraced the recent ‘Walk to School’ week in May. The school encouraged all parents/carers of children to leave the car at home for the week and dance their way into class. The school even made a ‘dance walk’ film to promote the idea of walking to school, this was shared with all Wirral primary schools. Those pupils who came up with their own dance walks will have them showcased at an event on New Brighton Promenade in July. Lynn Struve, Wirral’s Eco-Schools Officer, added: “It is fantastic to have such an inspirational school in Wirral that can showcase its’ eco work to other schools across the Northwest. We have already had children and parents from others schools visiting to look at ideas that they can implement in their schools. It really has generated a lot of excitement about environmental work and how we can all make a difference.”

and caring person required to enable my mother to WANTED: “Kind remain living in her own home for as long as possible”. Years ago you would have seen adverts like this in your local shop. It was not too difficult to find someone who lived locally, but today with all the regulations and restrictions it is definitely not so easy. That is why this business was started, to ensure that people could have a special person to look after them at home, who would make all the difference. Watching the families and veterans at the D-Day commemorations reminded me how so many elderly people have had such incredible lives. Headline news was Bernard Jordan, who sneaked out of his Care Home to go off to Normandy, what a character! Time to reflect on the many people we have cared for over the years, some for short periods and others for years, all of whom had their own story to tell us.
Stay in your home sweet home Contrary to popular belief, and after 46 years of experience, we know that with the right care and support, you can remain living in your own home for longer than you thought. We have had many clients with serious health and mobility problems who have done just that! We provide live in and daily carers throughout the North West so there will be someone special near you who will be there to help.
Our carers are your companions
Bunbury Carers at Home are recruited privately on your behalf,
almost like the old days of a card in the shop. Our live in and daily personal carers are all fully vetted and have the relevant knowledge and experience to look after you in the way that you wish in the privacy of your own home. I am always amazed and so proud at the dedication and kindness of our carers, no wonder they so often become part of the family.

Lifetime achievement for Soroptimist Maureen Heswall and District Soroptimists were delighted to hear that Maureen Thompson, an honorary member of the club, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Cheshire Women of the Year 2014 ceremony, which was held recently at Eaton Hall. Flower power brings colour to the town centre Children from St Peter’s Primary School and Heswall Primary School enjoyed a fine day for replanting the beds outside Heswall Hall and the Library. This year’s display includes a poppy bed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of “The Great War”. After the planting, Jenny McRonald, of The Heswall Society, talked with groups of children about Heswall at that time. The children are looking forward to seeing their work in full flower this summer. Heswall Hall and The Heswall Society had each been successful in obtaining grants from Wirral Council’s “Love Wirral” Fund to buy the plants. In addition Heswall ward councillors will be using funds from the Council to pay for 12 planters in Heswall Centre and for replanting Gayton Roundabout, when the poppies there have died back.
