Woman injured in collision with car AND FUNCTIONAL ROOM Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Ellesmere Port town centre to come forward. A woman from Ellesmere Port suffered what are believed to be minor injuries in the incident at the Market Square car park, opposite the Asda supermarket, at around 2.05pm on Friday 2nd March. The 47-year-old was taken to hospital via ambulance to be assessed. Follow us on Social M Detective Constable Beverley James said: “Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. “It occurred in a busy car park and I am keen to hear from anyone who was there at that time and saw a collision involving a silver convertible car and a woman or has any other information that may help with our investigation.” A 68-year-old man from Ellesmere Port who was arrested in connection with the incident has been released under investigation.

Crime writer in Little Sutton Little Sutton Library is hosting a crime evening this month, which is open to the public. Cheshire West and Chester’s Libraries Service is offering the opportunity to learn from a real forensic expert and a bestselling crime-writer at events coming up soon. Crime-writer Margaret Murphy and real forensic expert Helen Pepper have teamed up to write novels and they will tell all. There will be a crime scene evening at Little Sutton Library on Friday 6th April at 7pm. You will be able to find out how real forensic experts deal with a crime scene and how crime-writers make sure they get the facts right. There will also be an opportunity to chat with the writer and the forensic expert, who together form crime writing duo, Ashley Dyer. Father and son injured in robbery Officers are appealing for information after a father and son were viciously attacked during a robbery in Ellesmere Port. At approximately 8.10pm on Friday 2nd March an unknown man entered Nathans Food and Wine, Regent Street, and approached the counter where the shop owner, a 52-year-old man, and his 17-year-old son were working. The suspect then threatened the men demanding that they opened the till and as the father bent town towards the till he was struck on the head with a metal object. The man’s son then attempted to fend off the suspect, and he too was hit on the head. The suspect then hit the shop owner on the head for a second time before fleeing the store empty handed. The suspect is described as a white man, between 5’6” and 5’10” tall. He was wearing a dark coloured top and light coloured bottoms and had his face covered.

When is the best time to apply night time skin care products? By Angela Bartlett, Owner Sensoria Beauty Q. Is there an ‘optimum’ time when I should be applying my night time skin care products? A. Yes there is! The best time to apply active night skin care products is between 9pm and 11pm. This is because the skin is changing from ‘protect’ into ‘repair’ mode. Applying night repair products at this time of night will mean that the active ingredients in your cream will be used more effectively by your skin giving the best results. In addition, preparing your skin earlier than you would perhaps normally do helps you to ‘wind down’ from the day to start to prepare you for sleep. I have little red veins on my cheeks and nose. Can these be treated? A. Yes they can. We use either short wave diathermy and/or intense pulsed light to effectively eradicate these minor skin imperfections. Splash of spring colour

Spring is well and truly underway and there is so much to choose from if you want to add new additions to your garden. Starting with the small perennials I suggest a bright yellow Allysum saxatilis and pink or mauve Aubretia to cascade over walls in sunny spots. Both perennials like a well drained soil. If you have a shadier place with a moist light soil then why not see if the delicate Dicentra Formosa likes your garden. It has lovely light blue grey filigree leaves with little white pink or deep pink flowers. The variety Bacchanal has deep red flowers. Lovely against darker foliage. If you want a spreading shrub or small tree then you should consider an Amelanchier lamarckii or one of the many named varieties of Amelanchier x grandiflora. These pretty shrubs have delicate white flowers in spring and bronzy young leaves. In autumn the foliage turns orange and red looking great against a green hedge or with a background of Rhododendrons. They will cope with any moist but well drained soil in any aspect and light shade. A spring flowering climber is easy as there are so many clematis to choose from. Try Clematis alpina Constance with the deep pink hanging bell like flowers. Easy to grow and likes sun or light shade by a fence. If it gets too big, take the shears to it after flowering but generally it does not need pruning. Work to do in your garden can include sowing seeds of annuals such as Calendula (Marigold) and planting out summer bulbs and corms such as Gladioli. Plant seeds of tomatoes, marrows and courgettes in pots on a windowsill inside or wait till May when temperatures are higher to plant out in the soil. If you have planted broad beans in pots, harden them off gradually and plant out in late April. Vegetables such as carrots, beetroot, radishes and lettuce can be sown directly into the soil. Look out for gardens open under the National Gardens Scheme where all proceeds go to charities including Marie Cure Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Support. CRIMES IN THIS AREA Crimes reported to Ellesmere Port police recently include the following: Moorland Road – Thieves broke into a house and took the keys of a black 3 series BMW which was later recovered on Oil Sites Road after three males were seen running off. Chester Road, Great Sutton – The rear door of a shop was forced to gain entry. Hooton Road – There was a break-in at a disused petrol station. Chester Road – Three males playing football outside Little Sutton Library kicked ball which smashed a window. Sutton Way – Three youths on bikes threw a brick at the front window of a house. Waverton Road – The registration plate of a Vauxhall Astra was stolen. Cawood Close – Damage was caused to a Renault Captur, with the wing mirror smashed, a concrete block thrown through the back window and a big dent on the bonnet. Hooton Road – Two bikes were stolen from Hooton Railway Station. Hillcrest Drive –Jewellery, an iphone 8 and two sets of car keys were taken during a burglary. Clayhill Green – A games console and controller were stolen from a first floor flat. Sweetfield Road – Coats, house keys and cigarettes were stolen from a house. Links Avenue – Two males ran off after being discovered rummaging through a sideboard in the house. Heath Lane – Two VW Golf cars were stolen after thieves broke into the house and took the car keys. The black Golf was abandoned further down the road but the white car was found in Liverpool displaying false registration plates. A woman has been arrested.

Sutton Way – A sofa was slashed in unoccupied flats. Seymour Drive – A mountain bike, jet washer, power drills and two building site radios were stolen from a garage. Straker Avenue – A blue and white Honda CRF 250 off road bike was stolen from a garage. Smithy Lane – Two males on a small moped rammed front gates of a communal car park but couldn’t get in and headed off towards the motorway. Hope Farm Road – An unknown substance was put into a door lock causing damage. Sutton Way – A man has been arrested after a door and television were damaged in flats. Hillcrest Road – A would-be burglar ran off after being disturbed by the home owner. Dunmore Crescent – A Triumph Bonneville was taken and later found abandoned further down the road. Cedar Avenue – A thief left empty handed when trying to steal a motorbike after being disturbed by the home owner. St. Stephens Gardens – A laptop and gym bag were stolen from a Mercedes CLA, parked on the driveway. Horbury Gardens - Money was stolen from inside a Lexus IS. Berwick Road West – A rucksack containing car keys, lunch box, flask and site keys was taken from a Ford Transit, parked the The Quality Inn. Chester Road – A sat nav was stolen from a Peugeot Partner van, parked at the Premier Inn, near Burleydam. Overpool Road – Radley prescription sunglasses, lip gloss, chewing gum and a registration plate were stolen from a Toyota Avensis.
