Cloudy2Clear Windows – Service With A Smile! It’s been a crazy few months for Cloudy2Clear Windows. The company which specialises in repairing windows which are steamed up, broken or damaged by replacing the panes – not the frames has grown rapidly as homeowners take advantage of their services. Managing Director Alan Ball feels that it’s all about service. ‘Our product is simple. If your double glazing is misted up we can replace the glass at a fraction of the cost of a new window, in any type of frame, and with a new 5 year guarantee. But it’s not just about saving

people money, although that obviously helps. Many tradespeople have struggled since last year and I honestly feel that during the good times a minority perhaps didn’t focus on customer care as much as they should have done. We make sure we turn up when we say we will, do the job the customer requires and leave their house as clean as a whistle. I often get comments back from customers on how they really didn’t expect that sort of service which, in a way, is very sad for the service industry as a whole.’ Cloudy2Clear service the Great Sutton and Little Sutton areas &

Alan is finding that his approach is a major factor in his success. ‘The truth is that it’s not just the personal satisfaction that I get from doing a good job but also it makes good business sense. I get a huge amount of business from friends

and family of people I’ve done work for, which just goes to show how much a little bit of effort is appreciated.’ So, if your windows are steamed up, broken or damaged give Alan a call for a free quotation on 0800 61 21 118 and he’ll be happy to help!

School supports toddler group Pupils from Sutton Green Primary School’s School Council donated £100 from their fundraising to a local toddler group, run by Debbie Hill which meets in the school hall every Tuesday morning. The group needed new equipment after their storage shed leaked ruining some of the toys and equipment. Oliver and Ruby presented the cheque to Mrs Hill during their session. Mrs Hill was delighted, telling the children that she would buy some new toys and would let the children know what she had bought.

HEALTH AND FITNESS BLOG

FAD DIETS: DON’T DO THEM!

THE grapefruit diet, the cabbage diet, the liquid diet, the aloe Vera diet, the Hollywood diet, the raspberry keytones diet, the 1000 calorie a day diet, the no carb diet the list is endless but do any of them actually work and will you lose weight and more to the point are they good for you? With every fitness magazine or diet article there is something new on the market to entice you into thinking this is the best solution to the new you. The sad news is many are just a money making scheme to make you spend your hard earned cash and the results, although some are quick and the numbers on the scales go down they are NOT healthy and certainly no use for keeping your weight off. Take the grapefruit diet, eating grapefruit at every meal. Me personally couldn’t think of anything worse, come day three and nine grapefruit later, your body will almost be in starvation mode, you’ll begin to feel tired, emotionally drained and dam right starving! Sure the numbers on the scales will go down, but as soon as you eat normally they’ll go right back up and add some more. Your body will start to store the normal foods you eat as fat and your metabolism may start to slow down. Typically referred to as yo-yo dieting. The long and short of it is there is no quick fix, weight loss comes with commitment, hard work, a good healthy diet and time. I get asked many times as a personal trainer how can I lose weight, should I try this, should I try that. My answer is unless you can sustain that for life why do it. Weight loss doesn’t come from a quick fix it comes from lifestyle changes. Making keep fit your routine, making homemade healthy meals instead of takeaways and

picking healthier options where possible. I often get people’s diet plans suggesting they don’t have time for breakfast or they are simply too busy for meals, like the above diets you are only starving your bodies and therefore when you eat again you just store it as fat. There is not a lot I will put my name too, certain fitness crazes I won’t do unless I think they are beneficial, just like certain diets I won’t join in to. I will put my name to Herbalife around since the 80’s and with Ronaldo as a keen supporter their science for these products goes above and beyond. I don’t recommend to skip meals and use shakes, nor does the Herbalife concept. Yet just adding the nutrients they provide to your daily diet to prevent you skipping meals I have viewed to be more than successful. One of my clients has lost five stone this year from this concept. Not starving themselves, not skipping meals, three lots of exercise per week and two shakes, snacks and healthy meal. So don’t reach for quick fixes they don’t work! Easy go...easy come! (and more) Don’t waste your money on products you don’t know a lot about just because a new sales rep says they work, do your research, if it’s been around a long time with varying reviews, look more into it. Reviews that are 100% high in rating may not always be accurate, as in truth not all things work for everyone. But personally ditch the fad diets and commit to a programme that works for you. Contact me for info on classes, personal training and more on Herbalife products. Good luck! Written for Talkabout Publishing by Hayley Ryder Personal Trainer and Class instructor 07551 878786

Wartime spirit returns to Hooton Park HOOTON Park is the venue for a 1940s weekend with a big wartime theme. The event takes place on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August at the venue on Airfield Way, Ellesmere Port, off junction 6 of the M53, from 10am - 5pm. The former airbase played a vital role as a base for RAF Coastal Command during the Second World War. The Northern Forties Re-enactment Group has stepped forward to help the Hooton Park Trust organise a 1940s re-enactment and period vehicle weekend event to raise money to help with the refurbishment of the remaining aircraft hangars. This event, now in its second year, will feature displays of military and period vehicles including a replica Spitfire, a replica V1 flying bomb. Other attractions will include living history displays of British, American and German troops, equipment and weapons. For the ladies’ interest there will be displays of the Womens Land Army, 1940s period homefront items, and a collection of vintage prams and babywear. There will also be vehicle collections owned by members of the local Military Vehicle Trust and the Wirral Classic Car Club, with other re-enactment groups including the Northern WW2 Association and the North West Military Collectors Club. As well as the displays, there will also be weapons firing demonstrations and entertainment and songs provided by Paul Harper, Harmony Belle, The Victory Girls and Katy Mustang. There will also be a Sunday Morning Church Parade and Service, and trade stalls with period militaria, clothing and early 20th century items. Adult ticket price is £6.50 and a free shuttle bus will be operating from Hooton Station. Call 07746 073914 or email northernforties@gmail.com for info. LETTER FROM WESTMINSTER by Ellesmere Port and Neston MP Justin Madders

Justin Madders, the Labour MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, and Shadow Health Minister, gives his thoughts on the consequences of Britain’s decision to leave the EU.

Brexit: What next?

W

HAT will the next couple of years hold for the country in light of the decision to leave the EU?

Although I was disappointed by the result I was not surprised by it. I have talked to enough people in the constituency in recent times to know that whilst there were many people who wished to remain in the EU, particularly because of the economic arguments and the risk to local jobs, there were more who wished to see us leave. There is no doubt though that across the country the result has deeply divided the nation and even locally many people have been contacting me to request that a second referendum be held. However, as a democracy, we have to accept the result and now work to get the best for the constituency and the country. That for me in particular means doingStaff our utmost to ensure that General Motors are given every RFS Cert Arb & NPTC Qualified encouragement to continue to invest in the local plant. Fully Insured Domestic & Commercial

Touchwood Tree Surgery

What happens next is uncertain but the process for us leaving is likely to take several years Pruning, Felling, Reducing and there will be a huge number of massive decisions to be made about what our relationship Dismantling and Clearance is in the future with Europe and the rest of the world. Central to that will be whether we are still able toHedge access the European Single Market which is of course key to us being able to export our Maintenance goods without tariffs being applied. It seems one of the likely conditions of continued access Stump Removal would be freedom of movement of labour but I have no doubt from what people have said to Surveys and reports meTree that one of the biggest reasons they voted to leave the EU was because of concerns over immigration.

Free Estimates & Advice

In order to formally start the process to exit the EU, what is known as Article 50 must be 0151 336 5847 invoked. Once that starts a two-year countdown begins during which time all the negotiations will need to be completed. All the legislation that derives from the EU will also need to be 07825 994 246 looked at but that is likely to be something that will be considered in the longer term. Quite what our country will look like at the end of this is anyone’s guess but now is the time for us to www.touchwoodtreesurgery.co.uk be articulating very clearly what we consider is needed to secure the most prosperous future info@touchwoodtreesurgery.co.uk locally and nationally.

Well known and respected local bathroom and wetroom experts, Wirral Wetrooms have announced a massive quarter of a million pound investment and expansion project. Pulling on their industry leading design skills and extensive experience, the team have planned a show-stopping new look that is set to revolutionise their Irby showroom.

The first phase of the expansion to their upstairs showroom has begun with renovations to incorporate fully functional bathrooms settings including 10 operational showers and 12 working basins and taps all with the latest digital technology. Added to this under floor heating and a working sauna so clients can really ‘soak up’ the full Wirral Wetrooms offering.

Dave commented “We recognised Irby as a great place to stay and grow in, we like the space we are in. We’ve taken on 2 apprentices and making this significant investment into the building can only improve it.” “Our new showroom will be completely unique for the Wirral, and will revolutionise the experience of buying a new bathroom for our customers. We want nothing more than people to come in and try them out for themselves, even down to taking your shoes off and feel the under floor heating, you can even take a shower if you are game, we don’t mind!”
