Talking News needs new faces The Ellesmere Port and Neston Talking News is a weekly digital publication for the blind and visually impaired in the local area. It is produced entirely by volunteers and is currently looking for new recruits to join the existing team. The publication requires people to be involved in three areas: administration, technical and recording of magazine articles. They meet each Thursday evening at Little Sutton Library where they record the news from the Pio-neer and process the memory sticks for dispatch. The recording of articles is done by volunteers at home, so if you are unable to help on a Thursday you can still make a valuable contribution to the production. My Christmas message

As we approach Christmas it is a time to reflect on the past year. It has been a momentous year politically when we have seen a new Prime Minister, a decision made to leave the EU and a great deal of political turbulence nationally and internationally. Sadly be it the plight of refugees, the threat of religious extremism and terrorism or climate change, progress in many areas has stalled. As we look ahead to the future there is a great deal of uncertainty but I am determined to keep trying my best for the constituency. I know that for many life doesn’t seem to be getting any easier, the bills don’t get any smaller, better paid and permanent jobs seem elusive and there is still a huge deficit in the availability of housing that people can afford. Pressures continue on public services that don’t have the resources they require. There are many challenges people face in life but we have so many brilliant people in this constituency who give their time, their expertise and their support in a whole series of ways that make life that little bit easier for many. I would therefore like to place on record my appreciation to all those carers, public servants, armed forces personnel & veterans, faith groups, charities and volunteers who contribute to our society. They all do a hugely important job and are in many ways the glue that keeps our community and constituency going. Thank you. I hope you all have an enjoyable Christmas and prosperous New Year, spending time with your family and friends. Do spare a thought though for those who may be alone and who might appreciate a visit from a neighbour. It wouldn’t take too much of your time but could really brighten up someone’s day.

CH66 crime list Crimes in this area reported to the police include: Rossmore Road East – A fence panel, between two semi-detached houses was set alight. Sutton Way – A woman was arrested after kicking the doors and windows of a property Chester Road – A thief stole a handbag from the back of a wheelchair at Burleydam Garden Centre. Heath Lane – A flight bag was stolen from a Ford Ranger, parked at Brook Meadow hotel. Christleton Drive – Two sheds were broken into and a Raleigh mountain bike and pressure washer were taken. Chester Road – A camping gas stove and drill were stolen and later recovered from Greystones. Overpool Road – Two folding chairs were taken from a shed. Mill Lane – A Vauxhall car was damaged by a thrown firework. Granville Drive – The windscreen of a VW Transporter was smashed. Parklands – A black VW Polo was taken after the thieves stole the car keys from inside the house. The car was found on Hawthorn Road. Woodvale –Stihl hedge clippers, a Stihl leaf blower and a McCulloch strimmer were stolen from a garage . Glenwood Road – A mountain bike and rucksack were taken from a shed. Parklands – Two mountain bikes and large quantity of fishing equipment were taken from a shed. Alder Drive – Thieves took an Indesit washing machine which had been left on driveway while being repaired. Ledsham Road - Debit cards were retained in the cash machine and then cash was withdrawn from the ATM outside the Post Office on Chester Road. In one incident the card was used in Home Bar-gain. Naylor Road – Six planters and contents were stolen. Naylor Court - A gold Seiko watch was stolen from Mayfield Residential Home. Heathlands Road – A dishwasher and vacuum cleaner, left on driveway to be scrapped, were stolen. Hope Farm Road – A Carrera bike was stolen from the hallway of The Straw Hat pub. Sutton Way – Two Pandora rings were stolen from West Cheshire College. Mill Lane – Credit cards were stolen from a Renault Clio and used in shops. Berwick Grove – A Mercedes was scratched. Heath Court – The word ‘Money’ was scratched on an Audi. Charged with theft A 20-year-old man from Ellesmere Port has been charged with eight offences including thefts from homes and cars in Briardale Road, Parklands, Park Drive and Clydesdale.

Cakes make cash for Claire House

Kind hearted pupils at Sutton Green Primary School have been supporting Claire House with a range of fund raising activities. Charity workers organised a recent cake sale that proved very popular and raised £160 for the charity. The PTFA also supported with donations from refreshments at the open evening, and the families are helping further by collecting textiles for the Hospice.
