Cloudy2Clear Windows – Service With A Smile!
It’s been a crazy few months for Cloudy2Clear Windows. The company which specialises in repairing windows which are steamed up, broken or damaged by replacing the panes – not the frames has grown rapidly as homeowners take advantage of their services. Managing Director Alan Ball feels that it’s all about service. ‘Our product is simple. If your double glazing is misted up we can replace the glass at a fraction of the cost of a new window, in any type of frame, and with a new 5 year guarantee. But it’s not just about saving
people money, although that obviously helps. Many tradespeople have struggled since last year and I honestly feel that during the good times a minority perhaps didn’t focus on customer care as much as they should have done. We make sure we turn up when we say we will, do the job the customer requires and leave their house as clean as a whistle. I often get comments back from customers on how they really didn’t expect that sort of service which, in a way, is very sad for the service industry as a whole.’ Cloudy2Clear service the Great Sutton and Little Sutton areas &
Alan is finding that his approach is a major factor in his success. ‘The truth is that it’s not just the personal satisfaction that I get from doing a good job but also it makes good business sense. I get a huge amount of business from friends
and family of people I’ve done work for, which just goes to show how much a little bit of effort is appreciated.’ So, if your windows are steamed up, broken or damaged give Alan a call for a free quotation on 0800 61 21 118 and he’ll be happy to help!

Duo given bravery award Two members of the public who saved the life of a 94-year woman in Great Sutton after rescuing her from a house fire have been given an award from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. Chief Fire Officer Paul Hancock awarded the men a Community Award at Ellesmere Port Fire Station for their brave actions that ultimately saved the woman’s life. Chris Johnston, 34, from Liverpool, and Lucas Cooper, 26 from Ellesmere Port, were invited to an awards ceremony where they also met the family of Florence Millichap who were keen to express their gratitude to the men. Geoff Millichap, her son, said: “I am so glad they were there, if it hadn’t been for them I would have lost my mum that day and to live with that is just terrifying to think about. I just can’t thank them enough and I am so happy I got to do it face to face.” Chris, who works for Plus Dane Housing was driving back to work in November last year when he saw smoke coming from a property on Oliver Lane, Great Sutton. He pulled over and banged on the front door but got no answer. He was then joined by the neighbour, Lucas, who came over to see what

was going on and Chris went around the back of the house after calling Cheshire Fire. He opened the back door but was faced with a wall of smoke and flames. He shouted out to see if anyone was inside and heard a woman call out but because of the thick black smoke he couldn’t see her. Chris said: “I couldn’t believe it when I heard someone call out and I was just determined to get in there somehow. It was like someone turned a switch on in my head and I knew I just had to get her out.” The smoke was low down and it was far too dangerous to go inside. Lucas Cooper then joined Chris and as they looked through the patio doors they could see Mrs Millichap lying on the floor closeby. They used a concrete flower pot to smash the glass doors and rescued her just as the firefighters arrived at the scene. Lucas said: “It was really distressing to know that someone was trapped inside and we had the opportunity to save them and you just feel helpless. Luckily she was quite near the patio doors so
d after Great Sutton fire
we didn’t have to go far inside the house once we had smashed them.” The firefighters provided first aid when they arrived and extinguished the blaze, the cause of which was deemed to be electrical. Chief Fire Officer Paul Hancock said: “There is no doubt that the actions of these brave men ultimately saved the lady’s life and they certainly deserve recognition for what they did. “We would never encourage anyone to go inside a burning building and thankfully the thick black smoke prevented them going inside the house, but they did not give up on finding the victim and her family is understandably truly thankful to them. These men deserve recognition for their tenacity and this award is our way of acknowledging their bravery.” Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has also nominated the two men for a national award
in the Adult Hero category of the Fire Fighters Charity annual Spirit of Fire Awards. Both men are very modest about the recognition. Chris said: “I feel like anyone would have done what we did, we were just in the right place at the right time but I do feel proud as I know if we had not been there the poor lady probably would not be alive today.” Lucas added: “I feel emotional and proud that we rescued the lady and prolonged her life and it is just overwhelming to think that something we have done has been recognised like this.” Above: Lucas Cooper, Chris Johnston, Chief Fire Officer, Paul Hancock, Helen and Geoff Millichap Top, left: Chris Johnston and Lucas Cooper with their certificates Left: Damage caused by the fire

Hayley’s health and fitness
Health and Fitness blog
Summer is coming... are you bikini ready? It’s the time of year we either love or loathe. If you have been good and working hard for the summer months you will be proud to show off your new body, if however you have left it too late you’ll be happy to stay in your jeans and jumper for a little longer. So are there any quick fixes if your August holiday is approaching and what can you do to get results FAST! 1. Cut the carbs! Most people start the day off with toast or cereal (carbs) fruits for a snack (carbs) sandwich and crisps (carbs) pasta or meat, potatoes and veg (carbs) as you can see the common theme is Carbs and although I wouldn’t advise anyone to cut carbs out completely but if they aren’t being used up on a daily basis this WILL turn to fat! Stick to higher protein foods throughout the day they keep you fuller for longer, will help prevent muscle wastage and when you’re working out will help create muscle tone!
2. Get active and commit to something, if you have 6 weeks before your hols this is the time you get to get moving and the intensity has to be high. Providing you have relatively good fitness and you aren’t too over weight it’s time to hit it hard! Jogging for an hour will burn calories but you will get more done in a shorter
amount of time with a high energy class! Aim to work out 5 times a week and make sure you are sweating/ heart rate is high and you are truly fatigued.
3. Drink plenty of water! Flush out all your toxins and get your skin glowing. This alone will help you lose weight, 3 litres a day if you’re getting active. 4. Cut the sugar, sugars may taste good, but they really aren’t doing anything for your waist line. Just cutting sugars out in your tea/ coffee can save you loads of added calories. Watch out for sugars in concentrated orange juice/ fruit juices/ sparkling water and certain high sugar fruits like pineapple/ grapes/ tangerines and tomato soups/ sauces.
5. Make sure you are sleeping enough. Sleep is when your body recovers and is when you get your results! If you aren’t getting your 7 hours, you run the risk of becoming fatigued in the day, meaning you crave sugary/ high carb foods to try and keep your energy levels up. Get to bed earlier and avoid teas/ coffees/ sugary drinks before bed. Basic info above but effective if followed! Find me on facebook for fitness classes and speak to me for more advice and keep fit options.

She joined the Royal Navy at 17, stayed in the service until her marriage in 1968 and lived in Singapore until 1973. Cllr Clare worked for the local MP from 1992 until 1997 and during that time she established the charity Parents Against Drug Abuse (PADA). She continued to work for the charity for 15 years and was awarded an MBE in 2004 for this work. She became a Councillor in 2006, again in 2011 and has since been elected for a third term on Cheshire West and Chester Council. Her Mayoress is Jenny Bateman whose late husband Derek was a prominent Labour county councillor. Councillor Clare said: “As I now stand as a councillor in Derek’s old ward, and he was so helpful to me in my early days of being a Councillor, I thought it was time that Jenny got the chance to be Mayoress. “I want this Mayoralty to reflect the goodness of our community in Ellesmere Port and therefore charitable giving – whilst having some fun – will be central to my term in this great office.” 22 To advertise call 01244 350398
The new mayor has chosen MacMillan Cancer Care as her charity for the year. The Deputy Mayor of Ellesmere Port is Councillor Myles Hogg who has been a Councillor for 28 years, representing Willaston and Thornton for 20 of them. He was Mayor of Ellesmere Port and Neston in 2002/2003 and has been a Governor of The Whitby High School for 27 years and Chair for 12 years. He is Governor of Childer Thornton Primary School and also West Cheshire College. Councillor Hogg is a Chartered Accountant and is married to Marilyn with three grown up children and eight grandchildren. He has lived in Willaston since 1985 and his hobbies are gardening and playing bridge. Councillor Hogg said: “My role during the coming twelve months will be supporting the Mayor and I hope that I will be getting out and about around Ellesmere Port, meeting local people and children at a number of occasions and events.” Mayoress Jenny Bateman, Mayor Councillor Lynn Clare and Deputy Mayor Councillor Myles Hogg.

you can easily upgrade your existing loo. They all include an oscillating shower with forward and backwards movement, air purification and a warm air dryer. The Geberit AquaClean range is comfortable and stylish too. And with a model to suit every style of home, it would make a perfect addition to your new spa-like bathroom.
A You don’t have to spend a vast amount of money to purchase a Geberit toilet. There are also less expensive models in the range such as the Geberit AquaClean 4000. This compact loo seat is designed to replace your existing loo seat and is straightforward to install, as it fits on the existing seat.
Q Should I be concerned about how much water is used in spray-function toilets? A The Geberit AquaClean 4000 only uses 400ml of water at each use, and although this is more than a normal loo, there are positive environmental aspects to this choice, such as using less toilet paper. Water, chemicals and other raw materials are wasted in the production of toilet paper, and while it’s biodegradable, the process still leaves chemical traces in our water supply.
For more information To find out more information about the Geberit AquaClean range, call into Wirral Wetrooms in Irby Village and try it out for yourself! www.i-love-water.co.uk.
