Cloudy2Clear Windows – Service With A Smile!
It’s been a crazy few months for Cloudy2Clear Windows. The company which specialises in repairing windows which are steamed up, broken or damaged by replacing the panes – not the frames has grown rapidly as homeowners take advantage of their services. Managing Director Alan Ball feels that it’s all about service. ‘Our product is simple. If your double glazing is misted up we can replace the glass at a fraction of the cost of a new window, in any type of frame, and with a new 5 year guarantee. But it’s not just about saving
people money, although that obviously helps. Many tradespeople have struggled since last year and I honestly feel that during the good times a minority perhaps didn’t focus on customer care as much as they should have done. We make sure we turn up when we say we will, do the job the customer requires and leave their house as clean as a whistle. I often get comments back from customers on how they really didn’t expect that sort of service which, in a way, is very sad for the service industry as a whole.’ Cloudy2Clear service the Great Sutton and Little Sutton areas &
Alan is finding that his approach is a major factor in his success. ‘The truth is that it’s not just the personal satisfaction that I get from doing a good job but also it makes good business sense. I get a huge amount of business from friends
and family of people I’ve done work for, which just goes to show how much a little bit of effort is appreciated.’ So, if your windows are steamed up, broken or damaged give Alan a call for a free quotation on 0800 61 21 118 and he’ll be happy to help!

Town’s new MP is a Little Sutton man! Labour’s Justin Madders enjoyed a comfortable win in the Ellesmere Port and Neston constituency. Mr Madders won a majority of 6,275 over the Conservatives’ Katherine Fletcher to succeed longstanding MP Andrew Miller who had held the seat since 1992. Married with three children, Mr Madders lives in Little Sutton, is a solicitor by profession and is a well-known councillor on Cheshire West and Chester Council. He said: “As someone who has grown up in the area I know the place well and the challenges we face,” he said. “I will stand up for the people of Ellesmere Port and Neston. “I know from my work as a councillor how difficult people are finding things and I want to do my bit to create a better future for us all.”

Labour take charge on the council Elsewhere, in the local elections Labour wrestled control of Cheshire West and Chester Council from the Conservatives. The new cabinet features a number of local councillors from this area. Children and Young People will now be the responsibility of Sutton member Cllr Nicole Meardon (right), a teacher, school governor and Chairman of the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education. One of three Ellesmere Port members, in the Cabinet, Mark Henesey, a civil Engineer with 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, will hold the Environment and Communities portfolio. Mark is a former Deputy leader of Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council. Fellow Ellesmere Port Councillor Angela Claydon (left), former chairman of the Borough Council’s Housing Committee, will hold the CWAC Housing portfolio. Councillor Claydon is a former Mayor of Ellesmere Port and Sherriff of Chester. Former Group Chief Whip and long-serving Councillor Paul Donovan (right) , who works at Vauxhall, has been given responsibility for a new portfolio – Democracy and Workforce. Councillor Donovan is Chairman of Brio the Council’s Leisure Community Interest Company (CIC).

Spruce up your neighbourhood Following the success of Stanney Grange’s spring clean last month, more community clean up events have been organised in Ellesmere Port. The Spring Clean events will be in Parklands on Thursday 4th June and Westminster on Thursday 11th June. The events are from 11am to 2pm and have been organised by Cheshire West and Chester Council and Plus Dane. To sign up all you need to do is email
customerepn@ neighbourhoodinvestor. com or call 0151 357 8746. You can also turn up on the day. There will be skips available at various locations on each of these dates to help reduce the volume of unwanted and discarded items and fly tipped waste on community areas that can cause eye sores across the area. The Council’s Vanessa Griffiths, said: “We were delighted to win the funding from Plus Dane’s small scale improvement budget to enable us to
organise these events. Fly tipping and litter have a huge negative environmental impact. “The standard of cleanliness has been the number one source of complaints over the last few years; the Stanney Grange spring clean achieved wonderful results and now other communities can come together to tackle this problem. Peter Shaw, from Plus Dane, added: “Events like the clean-up days can have a big impact on the appearance of the environment and estates.”

Attack victim’s father appeals for witnesses A POLISH man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was beaten up on Woodfield Road, Ellesmere Port. Some time between 1am and 1.15am on Monday 27th April, the victim and his friend walked into Woodfield Road from the direction of Victoria Road. They were approached by a group of four men and after a brief conversation an altercation took place where the victim, Lucas, 25, was knocked to the floor and suffered a head injury, his friend was also assaulted. The group were seen in the vicinity of Victoria Road, before leaving the area, at least one suspect left in a vehicle. Lucas didn’t seek medical assistance until 30 April when he began feeling ill and he remains in Walton Hospital in a critical condition. Police are investigating the circumstances of the assault and are appealing for people to contact them with information. His father Marek, who flew in to be by his son’s bedside, said: “We are devastated the rest of the family wish they could be here with him. “He was looking forward to going back to take part in his Goddaughter’s Holy Communion and now he is fighting for his life. He is a fighter; I hope and pray he will be okay. “I hope someone will feel he is a human being and will contact police if they know something. You can phone anonymously, tell police who did this.” DS Rob Grantham said: “This took place in a residential area and members of the public were around following the assault.” Call 101 and quote incident number 359 of 30th April if you have any info. 16 Tel 01244 350398 www.southwirral.com
Town prepares to welcome ‘Royal’ visitors Staff at the Port Arcades in Ellesmere Port rolled out the red carpet to welcome a ‘Royal’ visitor recently. One of the Giant Carnival Queens taking part in Ellesmere Port Carnival on 31st May decided to check out the route of the procession ahead of the big event and dropped into the popular shopping-centre to tell the stores there about the Parade of Giants that people can enjoy on the day. The Royal visit to the Port Arcades by the Giant Queen Elizabeth II figure wearing an outfit inspired by a Commonwealth country was timed to coincide with The Queen’s birthday. Les Lyon, the manager of the Port Arcades and Chairman of the Town Centre Improvements Advisory Body said: “Last summer’s Parade of Giant Queens through the Town Centre was watched by thousands and the event certainly gave a big boost to the local economy.” The Carnival will feature 30 Giant Queens, local bands and street entertainers taking part in a colourful pageant that starts at 11am from Wellington Road Car Park and makes its way through the Ellesmere Port town centre to the Civic Square. A programme of family entertainment will be staged there by local organisations until 3pm.

The Geberit AquaClean range is comfortable and stylish too. And with a model to suit every style of home, it would make a perfect addition to your new spa-like bathroom.
A You don’t have to spend a vast amount of money to purchase a Geberit toilet. There are also less expensive models in the range such as the Geberit AquaClean 4000. This compact loo seat is designed to replace your existing loo seat and is straightforward to install, as it fits on the existing seat.
Over 1500 people have chosen us to fit their loft ladder, this is because we offer:
Q Should I be concerned about how much water is used in spray-function toilets?
• A FREE home visit • A FREE written quotation
A The Geberit AquaClean 4000 only uses 400ml of water at each use, and although this is more than a normal loo, there are positive environmental aspects to this choice, such as using less toilet paper. Water, chemicals and other raw materials are wasted in the production of toilet paper, and while it’s biodegradable, the process still leaves chemical traces in our water supply. Q I’m really interested in buying a Geberit toilet with a spray function, but I have heard they’re very expensive. Are there any more affordable alternatives?
• Fully guaranteed • A large selection of ladders

WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH!
D
riving to work the other day I heard on the radio that a man with ½ a brain cell had stated that exercise wasn’t responsible for helping people to lose weight and that eating sugar and too many carbs was the reason people will become obese and that lack of exercise wasnt the problem. Having observed the benefits of exercise on people’s health over 10 years having worked in the business, I really have to argue this point.
If you eat a healthy diet and don’t exercise you probably would be slimmer than someone who eats cakes, crisps and chocolate every night, but this doesn’t give you permission to throw away your gym gear just yet!
I once read that were 50 reasons to exercise and given the space I would happily list them all, but to name a few...it keeps your body fit and able, sharpens memory, improves strength, prevents colds, improves posture, reduces feelings of depression, boosts your mood, fights dementia, eases back pain, lessens fatigue, improves your quality of life. All of the above plus many many more for getting off your bum and keeping active.
Exercise doesn’t need to a gruelling two hour work out seven days a week at an expensive gym. Little things/ day to day tasks/ anything that gets your heart rate going and strengthens your functional movements. Let me explain this a little, functional exercises are the day to day things that you do that as you get older become more tricky (when you dont exercise). If you have or are developing Sarcopenia (the posh name for degenerative loss of seletal muscle mass). Sitting down to get on the toilet,
WE DO NEED TO EXERCISE
who’s knees lock out or they have trouble getting back up, this is down to the muscles in your glutes and quads becoming weaker, who’s shoulders get stiff if you work in an office job and sit starring at a screen all day, again no exercise means degeneration of muscles mass which will lead to poor posture. The shopping gets heavier, the gardening can no longer be done “because of your knee!” sitting down on the floor is a no go as you cant get back up etc etc.
The good news is exercise can help, but which exercises can help and what do you need to do to prevent the above and keep the insides healthy.
Three things... Do some cardio 4/5 times per week, eat more protein and take up some strength training. By partaking in the cardio you are working your insides, the heart, lungs vasular system. By getting more protein ie tuna, chicken, eggs, peanut butter, salmon you are restoring the proteins that are needed for muscle mass. By strength training you are ripping muscle fibres to help build new muscle and prevent them from waisting away. So on this page I have briefly only stated one aspect of why exercise is important and is something you or someone you know might be able to relate to, so please take note, get off your bum and start moving; brisk walking, jogging, aerobic classes, Zumba to name a few will deal with your insides and keep your heart healthy and then get a personal trainer or someone with lots of fitness experience to show you a range of exercises that will keep prevent those bingo wings, keep that posture and keep a nice body shape for a longer peroid of time!
