Cloudy2Clear Windows – Service With A Smile!

It’s been a crazy few months for Cloudy2Clear Windows. The company which specialises in repairing windows which are steamed up, broken or damaged by replacing the panes – not the frames has grown rapidly as homeowners take advantage of their services. Managing Director Alan Ball feels that it’s all about service. ‘Our product is simple. If your double glazing is misted up we can replace the glass at a fraction of the cost of a new window, in any type of frame, and with a new 5 year guarantee. But it’s not just about saving

people money, although that obviously helps. Many tradespeople have struggled since last year and I honestly feel that during the good times a minority perhaps didn’t focus on customer care as much as they should have done. We make sure we turn up when we say we will, do the job the customer requires and leave their house as clean as a whistle. I often get comments back from customers on how they really didn’t expect that sort of service which, in a way, is very sad for the service industry as a whole.’ Cloudy2Clear service the Tarporley, Tattenhall, Kelsall, Tarvin &

Bunbury areas and Alan is finding that his approach is a major factor in his success. ‘The truth is that it’s not just the personal satisfaction that I get from doing a good job but also it makes good business sense. I get a huge amount of business from friends

and family of people I’ve done work for, which just goes to show how much a little bit of effort is appreciated.’ So, if your windows are steamed up, broken or damaged give Alan a call for a free quotation on 0800 61 21 118 and he’ll be happy to help!

TARPORLEY PARISH COUNCIL NEWSLETTER Welcome Firstly welcome to our five new Parish Councillors Julie Hall, John Millington, Gordon Pearson, Peter Tavernor and Nigel Taylor. John, Gordon, Peter and Nigel are all members of the Neighbourhood Planning Group and so are well versed in village matters. Julie comes with a background in education. The Parish Council were pleased to be asked to welcome our new rector Rev’d Georgina Watmore during her Collation Service at St Helen’s Church on 5th May. She has now started her ministry in the three churches which make up the parish - St Helen’s in Tarporley, St Thomas’ in Eaton and St John and The Holy Cross in Cotebrook and Utkinton. We also have a new MP – Antoinette Sandbach, and Eveleigh Moore Dutton was re-elected as Tarporley Ward’s local Councillor. Welcome everyone and the Parish Council looks forward to working with you all.

Outdoor Sports and Leisure Land, off Brook Road. The acquiring of this land by the Parish Council is all but complete. At the May meeting the Chairman and Vice Chair signed the paperwork of agreement with Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Land Registry to transfer the land to Parish Council ownership. A formal committee will now to be formed to take the next steps – working on the land’s layout; seeking funding and bringing the land into use for leisure and outdoor sports. A public consultation about the layout of this land will be held later in the year. Anyone interested in joining this committee should contact the clerk by Friday 5th June. All those who have already expressed an interest will be contacted.

The Vintage Charity Shop – in aid of Tarporley Hospital Welcome to a new shop in the village, at 105, High Street. – a vintage charity shop in aid of our local hospital. It is open Tuesday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm Saturday 10am to 2.30pm. Please support this shop. We need to raise a significant proportion of the hospital’s running costs in order to keep the hospital going. The hospital provides a service for the whole community, whatever your age. How much easier it is to have an ultrasound there, than to be sent to the Countess of Chester Hospital or Leighton Hospital in Crewe. At the time of writing, early May, the shop has raised over £14,000 since it opened on 2nd February, which is fantastic. So thanks to everyone who has donated and purchased items there. There are bargains to be had!

Tories dominate Antoinette Sandbach enjoyed a resounding victory for the Conservatives in the Eddisbury constituency. Antoinette had a majority of nearly 13,000 over her Labour rival to take the seat which had been vacated by long-standing MP Stephen O’Brien. Her election to Westminster means that Antoinette has resigned her seat on the Welsh Assembly. l Shortly before the general election Tarporley Sixth Form students were treated to the spectacle of a hustings debate with the five main candidates for the Eddisbury ward. The debate was chaired by Director of Sixth Form, Jason Lowe, who introduced Sixth Formers, staff and governors to Antoinette Sandbach (Con), James Laing (Lab), Ian Priestner (LD), Andrew Garman (Green) and Rob Millington (UKIP). After previously reviewing local and national party campaign messages, students questioned the candidates on issues such as the NHS, tuition fees, regional infrastructure, the EU and the expansion

l In the local elections there was a big shock when Labour wrestled control of Cheshire West and Chester Council from the Conservatives. In this area, it was a clean sweep for the Tories. Mike Jones enjoyed a big win in Tattenhall, while Eveleigh Moore Dutton won in Tarporley and Eleanor Johnson took Gowy ward. John Leather and Hugo Deynem were also successful for the Conservatives in Tarvin and Kelsall ward.

of our local villages into greenbelt land. The debate culminated in a question from Deputy Head Boy, Tom Critchley, who asked each candidate: “If you had to vote for another party, which party would you vote for?” Students were asked for a show of hands to confirm their intention to vote. French visitors see the sights Over the May Bank Holiday weekend the Tarporley Twinning Association hosted a party of visitors from the twin town of Bohars in Brittany. The French group were showed around the local sights, given afternoon tea in the Tarporley Community Centre and ended up with dinner and dancing at Willington Hall. The Twinning Association covers Tarporley and all the villages in the Tarporley Talk distribution area; to find out more, visit the website www.tarporleytwinning.org.uk, contact David Dunning on 01829 781426 or email daviddunning53@googlemail.com Top: The Twinning Association and visitors at Willington Hall Above: Visiting Stretton Water Mill, where we were given a tour by a French-speaking guide/miller. Look up....

and use all the space in your home We would all like more space in our homes and with houses in the UK getting smaller, space is at a premium. But what if there was an affordable way to create more space in our homes? A simple solution for all those people fed up of living among clutter and one that doesn’t require planning permission or any major structural building work. For most, the loft is a dark and dingy place visited seasonally; once to dig out the Christmas decorations and then again to bring down the holiday suitcases. A precarious scramble across dusty beams, torch in hand; grabbing what’s needed then clambering back past boxes filled with long-forgotten belongings. But that dark and dingy place is worth thousands. In fact, it takes up a third of

the floor space in an average home. So shouldn’t you be making the most of it? And that’s where More Than Loft Ladders (MTLL) comes in. Founded in Bolton over five years ago, MTLL specialises in generating space by making the loft easily accessible. And that’s all it does. It’s not a generic building company, and it’s not jack-of-all-trades. MTLL only installs loft hatches, ladders, boarding, lighting and insulation. It’s what the company does all day, every day, using qualified local installers who are reliable, tidy and efficient. The latest MTLL franchisee to open covers Crewe and Chester and is run by skilled tradesman, Adam Shepherd...“Our average job is about

£290 and only takes a few hours to complete,” says Adam. “And for that, customers get a modern two section aluminium ladder 50sq ft of boarding and a light to make the space safe and secure.” The price customers are quoted is the price they will pay, with no additional call out or credit card charges. “More Than Loft Ladders is already a trusted name in the north west with over 2,500 successful installations, and I really wanted to bring it here to Cheshire...It’s such a great and cost effective way for people to gain the extra space they need,” added Adam. NEW Tarporley Talk June 2015 29

Be prepared and start planning Last month I highlighted how it is important to make some time to talk when we are concerned about the health and welfare of our loved ones. Once you have braved those “touchy subjects” the next step is to consider the main issues.

When living at home suddenly becomes difficult, the first reaction of many is to move into a residential care home. This is not a choice to be taken lightly so it is important to take into account all of the options available.

The thought of leaving your family home that has many memories and a whole way of life can be very overwhelming. The feeling of losing your independence, familiar surroundings and close friends nearby and moving to a strange place can be frightening to say the least.

Consider this:• Do you want to remain living in your own home or go into a Care Home? • Would having someone come to your house on a daily basis to help

you get washed and dressed; give you some breakfast and help with some household chores make all the difference. • If your mobility is not a good as it used to be, could you be at risk of a fall. • If so, if you had a live in carer and companion, would that re-assure you and your family that you are properly looked after?

• Arrange help with housework, shopping and anything else you feel would be appropriate. • Moving to live closer to a member of your family • Sheltered accommodation offers security and support but still allows plenty of independence. • Move into a residential home where everything is taken care of. • Stay in your own home and have high quality live in carers and companions.

So you may say:• I don’t want to go into a care home but I am not sure about having someone else living in my house. • Surely having a carer at home is more expensive. • Will I like and be able to trust the people who look after me and will they be reliable? • Will I still have control as to how I like to live in my own home?

Next month: What are the costs and financial options of home care? If you would like to discuss the many options available, please contact us on 01829 260280 to make an appointment.

Sarah Green – Director

TARPORLEY HIGH SCHOOL & S School business brainboxes pick good causes The Tarporley Year 9 Gifted and Talented Students have been involved in a national competition which required them to set up numerous independent businesses using a set-up loan of £10. The students set up various businesses which ranged from selling homemade popcorn to sweet and donuts stalls. A prerequisite of entering the competition required students to donate at least 50% of their profits to a chosen charity. Following their successful fundraising, they were collectively able to make over £900 for their chosen charity, The Wingate Centre in Nantwich. Issy Clarke and Georgia Hazeldine together raised the largest amount of profits and donated a large proportion of their returns to the Wingate Centre and gave proceeds to two additional charities of their choice, namely, Pancreatic Cancer and Parkinson’s UK. Students chose the Wingate Centre as their chosen charity, as they wanted to select a charity that supported children local to their school. For more than 25 years the centre has offered specialist residential accommodation and recreational activities for children with special needs. l The Year 10 ‘Gifted and Talented’ students have been involved in a national competition which involved students developing their entrepreneurial, leadership and teamwork skills. Students set up their own businesses, raising £254.90 for Alder Hey Hospital while Alice Hodgson and Lucy White chose to donate a further £62 to Cancer Research UK.

In the theatre of dreams! A total of 42 Year 10 students boarded the bus to Old Trafford for a marketing and museum tour of Manchester United’s ground. The morning began with a tour of the ground to put the business into context. They had time to look around the museum 34 To advertise call 01244 350398 www.tarporleytalk.com

Sixth Form College Students have a wild time on science visit

Year 7 students recently went on a Science educational visit to Chester Zoo. They studied the adaptations and habitats of many of the zoos wonderful animals, including the Bats, Lions and Giraffes. Highlights included spotting two of the infamously shy Jaguars sat together on a rock feeding, and purring at the baby Tigers as they spent a lazy day in the sun.

At the end of the day the zoo’s other main attraction, the gift shop, was a hub of frenzied students trying to choose and buy presents for friends and relatives. If you looked closely on the coaches on the way back you may have seen the lesser spotted inflatable giraffe, as well as a very sociable group of chimpanzees!

and then met up for lunch. In the afternoon, students benefitted from a marketing presentation which will help them with a forthcoming unit. Students certainly got a bit protective over their own teams when the presenter was declaring her support for the red devils! It was a great day and even though most students we took support the opposition, they could not fail to be in awe at the history and size of this club and the scale of the business operations.

Duddon St. Peter's C E Primary School

It's been a term full of mini adventures for the children in Treetops who have had a wonderful time exploring the school gardens and learning all about mini beasts. The children have thoroughly enjoyed getting their hands dirty and discovering the various habitats and lifestyles of all kinds of insects. And the fun didn't stop there; equipped with wood shavings, saw dust, tubes, pine cones, old leaves and sticks the children gave 'Grand Designs' a run for their money and transformed an old wooden pallet into a 5* mini beast hotel. The creativity continued indoors too as the children created an enormous model wood louse named 'Fred' and then had tremendous fun writing stories about his adventures. The mini beasts brought maximum fun for everyone!

Tarporley Badminton Club

High hopes for new season Tarporley Badminton Club completed its 2014/15 fixtures at the end of March, finishing a creditable 4th in Division Four of The Chester & District Badminton League. This is a marked improvement on recent seasons, when we have traditionally finished either bottom or next to bottom of the league. During the season we have travelled far and wide, from local derbies against the likes of Delamere and Norley to treks into North Wales to face the likes of Hawarden and Connah’s Quay. I’d like to offer my thanks to all our league players for their efforts over the course of the season, maybe when we resume in September we may even challenge for a top two place and promotion! As a club we are always looking to attract new players, whether they be experienced or novices, so if anyone reading this article is interested in playing please contact myself using the contact details below. Although we are primarily made up of adult players we also welcome teenagers who are keen to develop their skills. We play our club nights, and home league matches, on Tuesdays between 7:30-9:30pm during

school term time between September and the end of the following March. The venue is the Sports Hall at Tarporley High School and the first night for any new players is free of charge. To keep the momentum of a successful season going the club has decided to continue, on a trial basis, playing badminton through May. So if you can’t wait for the season to re-start proper in September let me know and you’ll be welcome to come and join us. Bunbury Neighbourhood Plan The Bunbury Neighbourhood Plan has now been submitted to Cheshire East Borough Council for six weeks consultation. This gives other bodies such as Natural England, The Environment Agency and English Heritage the chance to comment on the plan. Following this stage, and the comments received from the recent survey, we will review the plan and make a formal submission to the Council under Regulation 15 with accompanying evidence base. This will then be submitted to Cheshire East Council and on to an Examiner. If the Examiner is satisfied that the Plan is in general conformity with both the Local and National Planning Policy, then this will be followed by a Referendum later in the year. Members of the Group were outside the Co-op Store on 18th April to remind everyone to return their completed surveys and to answer any questions. The survey, once completed, produced 265 responses with a 95% agreement to the policies, and the headline results were announced at a public meeting held on 27th November and attended by 72 people. Thanks to all the people that completed the survey and those who attended the meeting.

Long journey east was worth it for speedy karters The latest National Schools Karting event took place at the Ellough Park Raceway near Beccles in Norfolk on 3rd May, where conditions were challenging as a result of overnight and early morning rain. Having made the long trek over to East Anglia Tarporley Karting Team (TKT) once again fared well despite taking a smaller than usual team. TKT had entrants spread across five of the eight different race classes for children aged eight to 17 years old, here is how they got on: In Class 1 Cadet, where the youngest drivers compete, TKTs two entrants, from a field of six, performed superbly with Ewan Sime just coming out on top to take the chequered flag and Daniel Kenny finishing in a respectable fourth position.

Dan Malyon who won in the Class 7 (158kg) category. TKT fielded 2 drivers in Class 11 Honda, both winning trophies. Well done Charlie Whittingham who went one better than his brother Lee was second, while Seth Worboys impressed the track officials to be awarded the Novice of the day trophy. In Class 14 TKT fielded six of the eight entrants, and it was another first place for Robbie White, with the Bailey-Saltmarsh brothers coming in third and fourth, well done to Jake who just piped Sam in the sibling rivalry stakes.

Finally in Class 15 Rotax, TKT fielded four drivers in a field of 11 entrants, congratulations to Connor Bailey who was second and to Fraser Sime who finished fourth. If anyone reading this is interested in finding out more about TKT or Natska and Schools Karting in general please contact Howard Malyon on 07887 626 320, or come along to a TKT club meeting at Tarporley High School (Wednesday evenings from 7-9 pm during School term time). You can also find information about Natska online and about TKT via our Facebook page.

In Class 7 TKM, where competitors compete in Karts with 100cc engines, TKT drivers took five of the top 10 positions, from an overall field of 20. Well done to James Mills who drove well all day to win, and to Lee Whittingham in third, Reece Griffiths in fourth, Theo Hesketh in sixth and Amy Duke in eighth. House builder’s gift to school A DEVELOPER has promised Tarporley High School £30,000 as a result of new homes being built in the town. Elan Homes has planning permission to build 18 homes on a near two acre site off Birch Heath Road, Tarporley. Richard Dean, land acquisition director for Elan Homes in the North, says: “As part of our plans for the development we’ve agreed to contribute almost £6,000 towards improving local play and public open space facilities. We will also gift more than £28,000 towards secondary education at Tarporley High School and provide public open space within the development.” Building work is due to start this summer, with the first homes scheduled to go on sale in spring/summer 2016. There will be 13 homes for private sale in a choice of three, four and five-bedroom designs, spanning up to 2,100sq ft. The remaining five properties will be affordable homes with two and three-bedrooms.

Portal’s charity fundraiser swings into action Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf & Spa in Tarporley hosted a fun-packed golf and family event in line with World Downs Syndrome Day to raise money for the Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group. With a total of £4,000 raised over the two days, the hotel helped the charity in their efforts to provide support for families and carers throughout Cheshire looking after children with the condition. Marc Smith, general manager at Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf & Spa, said: “There’s a real passion among the team at Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf & Spa to get involved in the wider community and share this sense of belonging. “The day itself was exceptional and a huge celebration of what children and young people with Down’s Syndrome can achieve. We are proud to have been part of it and to have raised £4,000 for the charity.”

Company wins online recruitment award Tarporley-based IT company Bubble Jobs has retained its title of Best Job Board at a top industry awards ceremony. Bubble Jobs took home the Best Job Board/Careers Board award at the Recruiter Awards for Excellence, which was held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in May. The company beat off stiff competition from Creative Pool and CV-Library to be crowned Best Job Board for the second year in a row. Bubble Jobs social media marketing manager Lauren Riley said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the award, especially as we won it for the first time last year. “The fact that the judges yet again recognised our innovative approach to recruitment advertising and promoting the digital industry as a whole is a testament to how far the business has come thanks to the hard work of our small team. “We’ve got lots up our sleeve for the rest of 2015 and are looking forward to what the rest of the year brings.” Bubble Jobs is a niche jobs board for the digital industry, specialising in advertising vacancies in digital marketing, eCommerce, online gaming, social media, web design and much more.

Summer delights June is a month when there is so much on flower so here are a few of my favourites to plant in your garden.

position. If it’s scent you want then Philadelphus Belle Etoile will fill a small garden with a lovely fragrance. It will grow on light or heavy soils and if it becomes too large then cut it back hard after flowering.

For those with free draining soil in sun then the fleeting heads of Alliums are worth growing. They come in small and large heads of mainly pink and purple flowers. I suggest your plant in groups amongst low growing perennials such as Nepeta or Catmint, for best effect. For ground cover I would choose the low growing Osteospermums such as Whirligig which is covered in pink flowers over a long period in summer. It can die back in severe winters but if you have a well drained soil in sun and want a plant to cover a large area by its creeping stems then this is one for you. Grow it alongside the silvery leaved, low growing evergreen shrub Convolvulus cneorum with white flowers in summer. However, it is tender and will die off in cold winters in an exposed position so grow it somewhere sheltered. June is a good month for other shrubs so look out for Spirea Golden Princess with its gorgeous orangey leaves and flashy cerise pink flower heads in June. It will grow in most soils provided it is in a sunny

Clip back Cytisus or Brooms, Aubretia and spring flowering heathers with shears after flowering. Plant out small plants of cabbages, broccoli and leeks to grow on for winter. Make extra plantings of French Beans, and even courgettes to prolong the season. Don’t forget to earth up your potatoes. If you would like to visit gardens, I suggest you look out for gardens open under the National Gardens Scheme where all proceeds go to charities including Marie Cure Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Support. Go to www.ngs.org. uk for full details of opening. Visit Bowmere Cottage in Tarporley on Sunday 21st June to see roses and clematis growing in this beautiful English country garden with courtyards, pergola and abundant herbaceous borders. Also open on 6th and 7th June is Bank House in Bickerton. This has terraces with borders stocked with shrubs, trees and herbaceous plants plus ponds and a wild garden.

Fun times are coming and the Home Fires are burning! Preparations for Bunbury Village Day on Saturday 20th June are now well underway! There will be a TV and film theme to celebrate the current Home Fires ITV series that was filmed in the village and Catherine Oldfield, Executive Producer, has given the day a very welcome endorsement:”We loved filming in Bunbury and so we’re thrilled that Home Fires has inspired the theme for this year’s Bunbury Village Day.”

putting their first spade in the ground to start work on the highly anticipated improvements to the Playing Fields Playground! Alongside the fairground attractions, puppet show and donkeys will be climbing towers and Segway rides. There’ll also be craft and food stalls, a classic car display and photo opportunities.

To continue the theme the organisers are delighted to confirm that Julie Summers, author of the original Jambusters book, will be opening the event and holding a book signing too.

The parade will leave from the church at 12.30pm, with fancy dress based on your favourite TV or film star, moving on to the playing fields for 1pm.

FOOTBALL TALK...

Vic’s beat local rivals to Tarporley Vic’s First Team ended the season in fantastic style picking up the Hallmark Security Cheshire Football League President’s Cup following an excellent Final versus local rivals Malpas FC. The route to the Final saw Tarporley Vics beat Penlake FC on penalties in the quarter final, and then overcome Irlam FC in the Semi Final by a 1 – 0 scoreline. Sam Lloyd scored the winner in this game. The Final was played at Barnton FC’s ground and Malpas were favourites having claimed promotion in the League and only losing three League games in the whole season. Tarporley Vics 1st Team were determined to put Malpas to the test and the opinion of most neutral observers was that Tarporley deserved the first goal which was scored by Joe Marley. Malpas’s Danny Lloyd claimed an excellent equaliser, just before the defining moment of the game which saw Malpas player Alex Hughes receiving a straight Red Card for kicking Matt Burrows in an off the ball incident. The pitch at Barnton is on a considerable slope and this helped Malpas stay

in contention as they played down-hill in the second half however Sam Lloyd found a moment of inspiration to score a brilliant goal. There were a few nervy moments as the final whistle drew nearer and a Malpas long range shot hit the bar, however centre back pairing of Freddie Bulow and Adam Williams kept the Malpas forward’s at bay. The midfield trio of Mike Parker, Eddy Pattinson and Captain Alex Moore work tirelessly to limit Malpas’s chances, with Alex claiming the Man of the Match award. In the League Tarporley Vics also enjoyed an excellent finish to the season, with Warrington Town Reserves and Daten FC both being well beaten, 5 – o and 5 – 2 respectively. These results see Tarporley Vics in seventh position in the League, the same position as last season! Dan Ball joined Carl Smith on 13 goals for the season, with Sam Lloyd & Joe Marley netting 12 times each. The presentation Evening is on Saturday May 30th @ 7pm in the Foresters Arms, Tarporley. All supporters are welcome as we look to finish

the season off in style by presenting the awards to the 1st Team & Reserves players. Sponsorship is also required for Tarporley Vics 1st & Reserve Team’s Home kits. The tremendous support we

hen it Comes to Eco Friendly and Affordable Driveways, Resin Drives Have Got it Covered… even Celebrities Choose Them!No longer do homeowners and facilities managers have to resort to traditional tarmac to cover their driveways. Bradford based Resin Drives, the original resin drive company in Yorkshire, has unveiled its customisable, affordable and totally eco-friendly, resin drive solution, which offers robust performance without damaging the environment. It used to be that tarmac was the most effective way to cover surfaces such as driveways, paths and patios. However, being a relative of oil and coal, this black and sticky tar product is firmly lacking in green credentials and due to its chemical properties, is likely to melt in hot weather and crack in the cold. Resin Drives have created a solution that will not only keep surfaces smooth and even all year round, but it is also up to 10 times more ecologically friendly than its predecessor. The surfacing material is created by binding resin with a mix of coloured stones. The resin is made from organic materials that are resistant to weeds and naturally drains water. This not only means that it prevents puddles from forming on its surface, but

also that it adheres to urban drainage guidelines, so anyone wishing to surface their driveway or patio with this revolutionary new product needn’t apply for planning permission. The coloured stone mix that is used is completely customisable and not only do Resin Drives have an enormous range of styles and colours to choose from both on their website and in their showroom, but customers are also able to create their own designs to suit their own tastes. People are able to decorate the inside of their house in any way they please and now they can do the same with their driveway or patio. Resin Drives offer a seamless service from the initial design through to installation and after care. Their team of experts will not only come and visit each customer to help them choose the design they want, but they will also survey the area to be surfaced, dig up the old surface if needed and lay the resin bound finish. Unlike tarmac, which can be a long and drawn-out process, it can take as little as two days for the whole process to be completed, from inception to reality. This level of commitment to their customers’ needs has seen Resin Drives grow in the past 12 months and also adding celebrity homes to their client list. They have showrooms in both Bradford and Bridgend to become the UK’s leading provider of bond resin surface coverings and in Bradford they have Yorkshire’s largest indoor and outdoor showrooms for you to see, making it much easier to visualise which resin finish and colour would be right for your own home.

Have you considered how a beautiful resin surface can also transform your patio and paths, the aesthetic quality of resin has an immediate impact and will make you the envy of your neighbours, family and friends. They even recently laid a beautiful resin drive for Uri Geller and have had new resin driveways requested from a number of other celebrities…watch this space!

Here’s what some of their customers have to say... "We are very pleased with our new resin drive it looks amazing. From start to finish all staff and work teams were friendly, polite and efficient, cleaning everything as they worked. I would definitely recommend them." Mr and Mrs Robinson "Just had to compliment the installation team who did a great job on our drive and patio, the finished effect was instantaneous as soon as they started laying the resin I was totally blown away I have no hesitation in recommending resindrives.co.uk." Mrs Jackson "My husband and I would like to say how satisfied we were with your surveyors and work men they worked very fast and hard and left us with a very good looking drive." Mrs Meakin

What’s on in your village June Bunbury WI The group meets at 7.30pm on the 2nd Thursday of every month in the Pavilion, with a talk or demonstration, some brief WI business and refreshments prepared by Members. The past month has seen the screening of the first episode of Home Fires on ITV, the eagerly awaited drama of the WI during the Second World War and showing our Bunbury countryside at its very best. Hard on the heels of a great April/early May came our joint Resolutions Meeting with the Nantwich Dabber Dames held at their venue of St Mary’s Parish Hall in Nantwich. Looking ahead, on Thursday, 11th June, Sandra Dykes will join us to share her knowledge of “The History of the League of Friends” and in July we will be having a Social Evening on the 9th with the focus on “A Musical Journey Through Time”. Visitors and potential new members are more than welcome to join us. Just turn up.

Peckforton and Beeston WI May brought our Resolutions meeting and after discussing the one for 2015, we had an excellent and informative talk by Louise Martin, on the History of the Grosvenor Family. This stretches back to the time of William the Conqueror and Louise who is an archivist for the estate, showed us how parts of the family became connected through marriage and thus acquired land and property. Especially interesting was seeing how the coat of arms had been built up throughout the centuries adding elements of those from the various family lines. We also took part in an exhibition at Bickerton Village Hall, with several other WI groups, to celebrate the centenary of the WI. The team that put our display together are to be congratulated, they did a magnificent job. The event was a great success and enjoyed by all who took part or visited. If you would like to come to one of our meetings, you would be made very welcome. Margaret Ellis 01829 261898
