Target Market Identification
Your Business Message
The first and most important step is accurately defining and identifying your ideal target market. Your target market are the people that would be the best fit for your business and product/service.
Your businesses message is all about communicating your unique selling proposition, or USP for short. To determine this you need to ask questions like: What makes your company special? What do you do better than your competitors? Why would a customer choose your business? What problem do you solve? How do you solve that problem?
Demographics What is your target markets gender, age, occupation, income, and education level?
Geographics In what country, state, county, city, and neighborhood do they live?
Psychographics What are their interests, likes, behaviors, attitudes, and hobbies?
Your Business Medium To determine the best places to help get the word out about your business you first need to ask yourself the following questions about your target market. How do they consume information?
What websites do they visit?
Where do they spend time online?
What blogs do they read?
What social media do they use?
Do I have a way to reach them directly?
