My Dear Sorors, Friends, ZMN, Youth, Family & Friends,
Welcome to another year of Service!
We started this Sorority year off by electing new government leaders in local, state, and national elections and ushering in new leadership within Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
We were excited by the reduction in COVID numbers while simultaneously suffering through once-in-a-generation increases in necessities such as food, gas, and utilities. Nevertheless, Tau Psi Zeta Chapter members collectively continued to display FINER. During these first few months of the term of our New International President and CEO, Dr. Stacey N.C. Grant, TPZ members have lived the mantra, "Embrace the Extraordinary." We have displayed Acts of Kindness and supported our Inaugural Leadership Academy. Our members have participated in our Membership Mondays series, where we hear firsthand from our International Leadership. Additionally, I have been "Basileus Proud" to witness TPZ chapter members appointed to State, Regional and International levels of Zeta. And this is only the beginning for us!
I hope we continue to grow as a chapter and Sisterhood and let us all remain vigilant and safe. Remembering always to be our Sister's Keeper.
Continue to dream big, Tau Psi Zeta, and keep your Torches Up. Embrace kindness. Embrace change and remember, together, we are Stronger. We are Finer. We are Tau Psi Zeta!!
Peace & blessings, Shannon Blackburn

Editor’s Message
Welcome back on behalf of the Tau Psi Zeta Chapter, a chapter built on striving for excellence while embracing changing times. As we embark on our 103rd Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Founders’ Day celebration, TPZ Chapter also celebrated 18 years on September 19, 2022.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated has stood strong on the ideals of four principles - Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood. We know that Finer Womanhood defines who we are - women called to a higher purpose. We are aware of the moral and ethical challenges women face and as leaders, it is our duty to guide all women, as much as we can.
As we prepare to celebrate 103 years, be proud of our advocacy for children, women and the elderly. Be proud of our mentorship of girls and young women. But lastly, be proud of what we have achieved and what we will continue to achieve together. Let’s remain energized, excited and committed to what we can offer and do for this great Sisterhood and the world.
As we continue on our journey in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, we look forward to following in the footsteps of our founders as we continue to build on their leadership in Service, Scholarship, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood. In closing, I pray your commencement into 2023 will be safe, peaceful and bring you lots of love, laughter and joy!
Sisterly,
Dawn M White Editor-in-Chief

TauPsiZetaChapter held their Executive Board Retreat on August 27, 2022. The Basilei Council hosted a Leadership retreat themed, “ REDEFINE, REINVEST and REFOCUS: Leading with Purpose-Sharing the Vision.” This retreat was about enhancing our team-building and knowledge-sharing while also getting back to the basics and focusing on what is important—strengthening our Sisterhood, increasing our chapter leadership and fulfilling our Principles.
The retreat offered informative information about conducting committee meetings, effective budgeting and working smarter not harder by collaborating. We are looking forward to an exciting and

CONTINUING TO DO SERVICE
….TPZ Sorors, Amicae, Youth and supporters showed up bright and early on both September 18 and November 20, 2022, ready to do service. We met at the Pilot Gas Station where we geared up in our safety vest and gloves, ready to fill our trash bags. We split into two to four groups to clean both sides of 127th Street which is about a 2-mile stretch. Each group walked up and down the roadway collecting trash that had accumulated overtime. After completion of both days of the cleanup, the roadway looked nice and clean for the community we continue to serve! Thanks to all those who contributed to our initiative!

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Soror Angie Daley, who was our Spotlight feature, shared her personal challenge and journey with the chapter. She shared how she went through 20 rounds of radiation which she officially completed on October 10, 2022. We are so excited to share that Soror Angie Daley is a Breast Cancer Survivor!

Nu Delta Chapter
University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign
By: Soror Jessyka Thomas
As the semester comes to an end and we move into another year,
I am proud to say the Nu Delta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, has had a successful semester! Taking a look back during our semester we hosted many great events including our biweekly Fit and Finer Fridays, Labor Day BBQ, and our fun and festive fundraisers! Our biggest highlight from the semester include the induction of our new members, Pure Efficacy. This group of girls are extraordinarily bright, intelligent, and the sweetest. I am beyond excited for them to accomplish their professional, personal, and academic goals and handle the business of Zeta next semester!
The second biggest highlight is a shout out to the members of the Nu Delta Chapter. I would like to say thank you for the hard work, dedication, and commitment that continues to make this a successful chapter. I am beyond grateful and deeply appreciative of every single one of them. From the brilliant ideas to the endless support, our members are the reason that our chapter will forever and always be known as the “No Nonsense Never Duplicated Nu Delta DollZ and DivaZ” Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated!
One semester down, another one to go! I am super pumped for the spring semester. To kick off our semester, we will have our first service event to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! After that, our sisterhood committee will be assisting in hosting a brunch for current chapter members to reflect on our past semester, set new goals we want to achieve for the upcoming semester, and bond and connect with one another after a month apart. I am hopeful that this semester will be one for the books and cannot wait for the kickoff!

Veterans Day Lunch by Amica Patricia Mitchell
On November 11th, 2022, the Zeta Amicae Auxiliary of Alsip IL - Tau Psi Zeta Chapter, along with Soror/Friend Tanya Weston-Butler, acknowledged those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces by providing lunch for Veterans at our elder care facility; McCrory Senior Apartments. This is the auxiliary's second year of dedicated service for this event. We served a home cooked meal that included baked chicken, pot roast, mashed potatoes and green beans, complete with dessert, to many as a way to show our appreciation for their service to this country. They were excited, appreciative, and hungry! A Board of Directors member for the facility, Mrs. Eva Garrett, mentioned the auxiliary on Facebook honoring the event and the auxiliary’s service.

Membership Matters by Yolanda Robinson
On October 15th, 2022, The Amicae Auxiliary of Alsip-Tau Psi Zeta Chapter welcomed seven new members to the organization. Led by the membership chair Amicae Belinda Lambert, this diverse group of hardworking and dedicated individuals proclaimed to honor this auxiliary with their time, talents and treasures and they have hit the ground running. They are present for meetings, calls, group texts, volunteering and donating; fitting right in with the Amicae worker bees we already have that consistently give 200%.
In honor of their unwavering commitment, our new members were celebrated on November 20, 2022 at Grey’s Social Club where other friends, Amicae sisters, and family joined as we gifted them with Amicae paraphernalia, tokens of appreciation, and specialty items that convey our love and support. In the coming months as they settle more into the life as a “TPZ Zeta Amicae,” it is the hope of our sponsors that they will be mentored by a TPZ Chapter member. If you are interested, willing and would like more information, please call or email Friends/Sorors Geneva Harris or Kelly Flowers.

Amicae “Giving Season” –
Holiday Toy & Coat Drive
By Amica Jessica Waite and Soror/Friend Renee S. Byrd
The season of giving is upon us!! In early December, the Amicae stayed close to home with their toy drive and supported one of their own by donating almost 70 toys to Algonquin Pre-Kindergarten Center, where one of the members works. This is a new job for her and a new location for the Amicae. Usually the Amicae choose not to collect toys since the sponsoring chapter handles that but this year since the call was sent out, the Amicae answered.
Up next, the Amicae in collaboration with our Sponsoring Chapter, Tau Psi Zeta, hosted their annual coat and winter essentials drive on Friday, December 9, 2022. The event was held at the Holiday Inn in Matteson, Illinois, and the theme for this year’s event was “Holiday Winter Festival & Vendor Fair.” We had a wonderful time socializing with our Finer Friends, Youth Group Affiliates, Zeta Males Network and Guest. The event showcased approximately fifteen (15) small black-owned businesses, which many of the guests patronized and supported. The sound of excitement and laughter from the children as they created homemade ornaments along with the adults as Black Santa made a special appearance before his Big Day!
The Auxiliary continuously collected coast and winter essentials items which served ages from newborn to adult 3XL. The Amicae collected approximately 100 coats of which, our Dove, Soror/Friend Carolyn E. Wilson donated $600 worth of items from Talbots clothing store. After the event, the Amicae and Friends dropped the donation off to Arthur R. Ashe Elementary School, Michelle Obama School, Edmond Elementary School and the Salvation Army. Each location received 25 coats each.
BIG thanks to the Amicae, Zeta Friends, Youth Group Affiliates, and Zeta Male Network for another successful event.
