President’s Greetings Greetings Sorors and Friends, I hope all is well. Today, as it should be, is a great day in Tau Psi Zeta as the reins are transferred from one President to the next. I am delighted to be a part of wishing Soror Shannon Blackburn much success as she begins her term as President of Tau Psi Zeta Chapter. I am continuing to work diligently to make the transfer as orderly and swiftly as possible. I am in talks with Madame Basileus on the state of the Chapter and in getting her up to speed. As now, Immediate Past President, I will work with Soror Blackburn to make sure her first months in office and beyond operate smoothly. The greatest part of being Basileus was to make decisions--big ones and small ones, dozens of them almost every day. Soror Blackburn now has to make those decisions and to be the guiding light for the Chapter. I want all of you to realize how big of a job, how hard of a job, it is--not for my sake, because I am stepping out of it--but for the sake of my successor. She needs the understanding and the help of every member. The new Basileus is taking office with the chapter in good sound financial shape and membership at its highest. Regardless of your beliefs and opinions, as members of the Chapter, we must give Soror Blackburn our support along with her Basilei Council and Executive Board. We must not stand in their way and in the way of progress being made. Let them do their jobs that they were elected to do and be open to new ways of leading and new ideas to stimulate growth. Don’t undermine their authority, but work alongside them for the greater good. Give them the autonomy to invoke the ideas, creativity, and thoughtful plans that they ran their platform on during the election process. They will have my support, and I encourage you to give them yours. I have no new revelations to make but simply a few things in my heart that I want to say to the members of the Chapters. I want to say "farewell" and "thanks for your help. When history is written, I want it to say that during my four years in office, I succeeded in setting the course for new programs, innovation, technology, and instituting a means to develop new leaders. These are all achievements that I am proud of. Together, we have made progress in spreading the word about TPZ and the great things this chapter implements to help the community. So, as I turn over the duties of this office, I leave the office, with no regret. I have done my best to serve Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and Tau Psi Zeta Chapter. I hope and believe that you recognize my many contributions to the sustainability of this Chapter. Through it all, through all the years that I have served this Chapter, I have been well aware I did not work alone-that the members were working with me. For that I shall be grateful, always. And now, the time has come for me to say, "Farewell to the Office of Basileus of Tau Psi Zeta Chapter!" Sisterly,
Darcell Norwood-Baugh Darcell Norwood-Baugh Immediate Past Basileus & Life Member 3

On behalf of the Stork’s Nest Committee Chairs, we would like to thank the chapter President, Darcell Norwood Baugh, for her faith in us to understand and carry out the assignment. During this fiscal year, there were up to 25 participants in the monthly sessions. The participants consisted of expectant and early post-partum at risk families from marginalized communities. We were able to provide an array of baby shower gifts to them from general needs, such as bottles, bottle care kits, pampers, diaper bags, etc. to specifically higher priced items such as air purifier, strap on carriers, strollers, tubs, etc. Thanks for all the generous from Sorors, Amicae, and friends, you helped make the Stork’s Nest Baby Shower a success. We could not have done it without you. Our Illinois State Stork’s Nest Coordinator, Nicole Weathersby, attended and this was her very first baby shower and she was blown away with how this event was executed. Special thanks to her for taking time out of her busy schedule to join us. Thanks to the committee members who have remained on this journey with us. Also, thank you to the other committee’s for collaborations: Domestic Violence (Charter Member Dr. Carolyn Wadlington, Dr. Evelyn Murdock and Soror Allene Cunningham) as well as the Fit and Finer Committee, March of Dimes, Youth (collaborations and donations) and Service and Social Action. Amicae Assist at Stork’s Nest Baby Shower 2022 By: Soror/Friend Kiaya Perry & Amica Lisa Plenty
On June 4, 2022, the final event for Stork’s Nest participants, it was the first in person baby shower since COVID lockdowns started. Once everything got rolling it was AWESOME… First beginning with the blessing of the food from our very own Co-Chair and Friend Dr. Regina Berry and then continued with introductions from CoChair Friend Tasha Dicks, and Advisor Friend Donna Fuller, myself Liaison Amica Lisa Plenty. Along with special guest Friend Dr. Angela Mason our Doula who was also joined by her husband. We also had the honor of welcoming our friend State Coordinator Nicole Weathersby and MOD Representative Friend Detrice Ivy! As well as other Friends who came out to help, including our Amicae V.P. Belinda Lambert and let’s not forget Kim Cole and staff at Catholic Charities who always goes above and beyond to help not only the participants but everyone else as well, and we could never pull any of this off without their help and we are truly grateful. We ate, played games, had raffles, listened, laughed, and talked the afternoon away. The participants got their baby bags (courtesy of TPZ President and Friend Darcell Baugh), and the Amicae donated gift cards, baby clothes, lotions, baby wash, pacifiers, teething rings, and so much more that was stuffed into bags. There was such an overflow of items (thanks to you amazing people) that we ran out of normal sized bags and had to up the bag size to other larger bags, it was like Christmas! Sadly, after all the festivities it was time to go. Everyone helped the mothers get supplies in their rides, vehicles, and even dropped off a few. We cleaned up and said our goodbyes to each other. This event brought joy and much needed items to our participants. It was thanks to everyone that this baby shower was such a success!

On Sunday, June 12, 2022, ZYA of Tau Psi Zeta awarded seven $150.00 book scholarships to the graduating Archonettes at the “Pass the Torch celebration.”
ZYA of Tau Psi Zeta Chapter ended the year with an overnight Sisterhood Sleepover at Camp Sullivan in Oak Forest, Illinois on Saturday, June 18 until Sunday, June 19, 2022. There was plenty of food, games, and bonding as we enjoyed S’mores by the fireside, a Bonfire Drum Jam Session, and an interesting Night Hike. We made bird feeders and played volleyball, created beautiful chalk drawings, and even challenged ourselves with a competitive game of Scattergories. It was a fun time had by all!
