GLOSSARY Below is a glossary of commonly used terms you may see in Tavern League publications or hear at meetings, but not fully understand. Hopefully, the explanations below give you a better understanding. ABI – The American Beverage Institute is an association that represents major chains, distilleries, breweries and wineries, and includes the TLW. ABL – American Beverage Licensees is an association representing on- and off-premise licensees across America. ABLPAC – American Beverage Licensees Political Action Committee ASCAP/BMI/SESAC – ASCAP stands for the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers; BMI stands for Broadcast Music Inc.; and SESAC stands for the Society of European Stage Authors and Composers. These organizations represent songwriters, composers and publishers worldwide, collecting and distributing public performance royalties. CORE – Children of Restaurant Employees Direct Givers Fund – This fund is comprised of voluntary personal contributions to be held in escrow for a later contribution to a candidate’s campaign account with the consent of the donor. DISCUS – The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States is a national trade association representing producers and marketers of distilled spirits. DOR – Department of Revenue DOT – Department of Transportation

NHSTA – National Highway Safety Transportation Administration NRA – National Restaurant Association NTSB – National Transportation Safety Board TIPAC – The Tavern Industry Political Action Committee is a fund that individuals may donate personal, not business, monies to. This money is then contributed on behalf of the Tavern League to candidates supportive of our industry. TLW Foundation (Wisconsin Tavern League Foundation) – TLW's charity arm WAMO – Wisconsin Amusement & Music Operators is a trade association that includes vendors of pool tables, jukeboxes, darts, etc. WBDA – The Wisconsin Beer Distributors Association consists of most of the beer wholesalers in Wisconsin. WISTAVPAC – The Wisconsin Tavern Political Action Committee is similar to TIPAC, however, monies are used to support candidates on the federal level. WRA – Wisconsin Restaurant Association WWSI – The Wisconsin Wine & Spirit Institute is an association comprised of several liquor wholesalers in Wisconsin.
