T
he competition aimed at understanding individuals idea of the house design, in the context of the location they select. I have tried to address the space constraint in a metropolitan city and explored ways to create livable spaces using sustainability as a lens. A software engineer (family of three) who spends eight hours a day in front of the computer in a claustrophobic environment is considered the client. The design aims at creating an environment which will influence both physical as well as the mental well-being of its occupants. 5. An open floor plan on the ground floor will see multiple activities happening in the morning. This will help bring more interaction between the occupants. A straight flight staircase is planned for maximum utilization of space. 4. Openings are planned only in the front and the rear side. A courtyard is created to bring about passive cooling through stack effect.

3. The portion of the site cut to create the basement is used up to create two more levels at the rear side which will accommodate the living, dining and the kitchen. 2. The site is 4’ below the road level. A basement is created and the roof of the basement acts as a ramp for the parking.
