PoiseArch Having poise is having balance. That’s what Poise Arch has to offer. Having done work internationally, this long-standing consultancy’s success is a testament to its balance of creativity, function, practicality and affordability. The company was established in 1984 as “Madani & Associates” by husband-and-wife team. Both graduated from US institutions with a bachelor’s of Architecture from Louisiana State University and master’s of Architecture from the University of Houston. The Madani name is known internationally as being synonymous with architectural excellence.
PoiseArch The company really started taking off after an eminent businessperson came to know about their work and hired them to do a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art, luxury guesthouse. This project vaulted the company forward in architectural circles as well as public admiration. As their fame spread, they built more projects which in turn raised their profile even further.
The company was eventually approached by the organizers of an International Exhibition to build a convention center. The catch? This very complicated and long project was to be designed and fully constructed within one month! The company took on the challenge and won the Best Design Award.
Not only did Madani & Associates win gold, what it touched turned golden too. The couple took on one ambitious project after another, including designing an airport hotel, private high schools, a train station, theme park, community centers, playgrounds, automotive factories and custom homes. Madani & Associates became an obvious choice for great architectural work, whether it was residential, commercial or industrial.
The couple’s eldest son was brought up around different building projects and received his parents’ advice on architecture from his earliest years. He later went on to study Architecture in Orange County, California and achieved a Bachelor of Architecture from Ryerson University, Toronto one of the best architectural schools in Canada. During his studies in Canada, he did renovations and design work in the field. In 2000, he registered Madani & Associates in the province of Ontario as “Poise Arch Inc.” and joined the award-winning team. Today, Poise Arch is still proud to be a family-owned company. But while it has stayed in touch with its roots, it has expanded. Poise Arch is a consultancy that has many sister companies owned by the broader family. BMG Property Investment Management Services Inc., CANTERA Real Estate, ARA Engineering, TAWSEAA Project Development Consultancy, and TAWSEAA Interior Design Engineering.

“The Lure” resort creates a series of informal and secluded village resorts within the 250 acres site of spectacular savannah terrain populated by deer. These include an exclusive 5 star ladies only spa resort, ‘Eden’, a family resort, and a youth tree Village, ‘The Nest’. The civic heart of the resort is a public piazza created by the main reception an international standard restaurant complex with dancing fountains and car parking facilities. This space is intended to host live performances and a visiting food market. The master plan proposal presents a unique opportunity to experience nature within a luxury sustainable resort. Visitors will be able to swim, snorkel, cycle and run through a dedicated fitness and wellbeing program or simply relax and enjoy the world class treatments of the spa facilities and the ‘haute cuisine’ prepared by the international standard restaurant.
The nest is a tree village youth resort located on the borders between the coastal region of the site and the enhanced savannah terrain created by the landscape improvements. The predominant architectural language of this resort will be small scale simple timber frame constructions elevated above the earth on ‘piloti’ in order to minimize levels of ground impact and create a community based within the tree canopy.
Eden is a luxury spa resort set within the heart of a contemporary interpretation of a paradise garden, flanked on its northern edge by a cooling reed fountain and pool, which will naturally ventilate and cool the site. Within the resort, luxury villas will be organized into clusters to create smaller sub communities and encourage a sociable and personal environment. Each apartment will be given a picture frame view oriented towards the setting sun in order to enforce the notion of a resort immersed in spirituality and nature. An infinity channel creates a link between the coast and resort, and widens to form the resorts main pool, with relaxation areas for sunbathing, eating and drinking.

This 2018 Asian games concept master plan proposal does not propose series of ‘stand alone’ elite sports venues but aims to embed elite and grass roots sports facilities within the fabric and culture of a new urban quarter. This sports city proposal provides facilities for the advancement and promotion of elite sport and is a catalyst for urban development that embeds elite sporting facilities within the city fabric and allows the cultural sport and participation to permeate the everyday lives of people from grass roots to an elite level.
In a wider urban context this sport city project provides an opportunity for significant new mixed use urban quarter incorporating new and exisiting communities within reach of the city center. This new quarter can take advantage of exisitng rail and highway infrastructure connections to embed and link it into the fabric of the metropolitan city. The opportunity exists for this new fragment of city to become a destination in its own right as integrated part of the city beyond the major sporting events that it is designed to incorporate.

The design concept has been developed with consideration of the local history, the intricate detailing of Islamic architecture, the efficiency of modern architecture. These three paradigms within architectural philosophy have inspired a unique urban structural plan consisting of deep meaning, functionality, and enjoyment in spatial experience. In the proximity to one of the most polluted capitals, the project is to neutralize pollution while making use of clean and renewable forms of energy. Benefiting from the existing constant breeze through the site, this proposal may produce wind-generated-power for 92,000 residents.
A sustainable bio-shell is proposed for a commercial complex to house several smaller inner buildings. The inner atrium accommodates self-contained vegetation systems on its interior. The skirt of the shell is buried into the ground leaving parts of its lower floors to accommodate landscape. Using finely calibrated green techniques, the inner atria are noise insulated and ventilated. The bio-shell environment is climatized using sustainable passive systems to a balanced temperature.
