Passport and Cork Week on the way COUNCILLORS are to be briefed on plans for a Cork Passport and Cork Rebel Week which take place later this year.
The October event is being organised as part of The Gathering 2013 and is being backed by the city and county councils. The company managing the week-long festival were due to brief councillors on the events prior to their meetings today. Cork Rebel Week will run from October 14 to 20. It will commemorate the birth of Michael Collins on October 16 that will be designated as International Cork Day. As part of the celebrations there will be a novel ‘Cork Passport’ — pictured — where those wishing to get their hands on this red document must help promote Rebel Week. A Cork Passport holder will be entitled to extensive discounts and offers across the county. Local communities in towns and districts around the county will also host marching bands and will or-
ganise local events and activities throughout the week, with the highlight being an International Cork Parade and Primary Activities in the city over the weekend October 19 and 20. It is hoped to attract at least 5,000 extra visitors to Cork during Rebel Week. â—? Further information can be found online at the website www.corkrebelweek2013.com.
