The Mayborn family is commi ed to serving the residents of Bell County and Central Texas with quality journalism and community service.

Frank Mayborn came to Temple in 1920 with his father, Ward, when they purchased the Telegram. While Ward decided to pursue other opportuni es, Frank, except for a volunteer tour of duty in WWII, made Temple his home, building and working for the be erment of Central Texas.

Following Frank Mayborn’s death in 1987, his wife, Sue, who had worked by his side at the newspaper for many years, became owner, editor and publisher

The Telegram and the Killeen Daily Herald are two of the very few locally owned daily newspapers in the state. The Telegram employs 64 full and part- me employees, a network of correspondents, photographers and more than 40 independent contract newspaper carriers.

The Telegram’s website, tdtnews.com, has propelled our news content to new heights. Twice being named the “Texas Online Newspaper of the Year”, the website attracts more than 1 million visitors per year and generates over 9 million page views!
