Add all the other languages spoken in Europe by families from other continents and you have an extremely rich and valuable linguistic and cultural environment. That is the motivation behind the European Day of Languages, which is a celebration not only of European languages but also of the 6000 or more languages spoken around the world. The idea is that by encouraging people across the globe to learn other languages, citizens can reach a greater intercultural understanding and have better opportunities in life as well. Why bother learning a language, isn't it too difficult? Language learning can benefit people of all ages and it is never too late to start learning a new language and enjoying the advantages it can bring. Even just a few Alexandra Duarte Š
