His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, approved a new master plan for Expo City Dubai in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.

The new plan outlines Expo City Dubai’s role in spearheading Dubai’s future development and enhancing the emirate’s global stature. The site

of the historic 2020 World Expo and COP28, Expo City Dubai will serve as a key driver of the emirate’s progress in various sectors.

The plans play a crucial role in achieving the goals of the 2040 Dubai Urban Master Plan, in which Expo City is named as one of five key urban centres, as well as the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 which seeks to double the size of the emirate’s economy by 2033. One of the catalysts of this growth is the accelerated development

of the Dubai South area, as the emirate continues to position itself as a leading global hub for trade, investment, business and tourism.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said, “A decade ago, we paved the way for a new city to rise within Dubai – one that would host the world, drive innovation and sustainability, and propel the UAE into a new era of prosperity. - Enhanced Reporting and Certifications: Targus has strengthened its global reporting practices and certifications, ensuring greater transparency and accountability. The company completed Scope 1 and

Scope 2 emissions reporting through Project Gigaton™, a Walmart initiative aimed at engaging suppliers in climate action alongside NGOs and other stakeholders. A recent Targus global workplace survey revealed that 88% of decision-makers view sustainability as essential to their organizations, while 53% of workers consider sustainable attributes when purchasing tech accessories.

MAKING HARDWARE AI-READY

Seagate is eyeing the development of 50-terabyte storage solutions in an age where artificial intelligence is gaining prominence. The rise of AI is having a significant impact across all sectors, sparking a new wave of disruption and innovation. One area crucial for AI systems is the server and hardware technology on which they run.

Without this solid backbone infrastructure, the instant feedback from tools such as ChatGPT and other AI applications that rely on a variety of large language models simply wouldn’t be possible. Companies like Seagate are playing a critical role, ushering in a new generation of hardware capable of meeting these demands.

Mohit Pandey, the Head of Sales for the META region at Seagate Technology, recently explained the significance of this by highlighting how Seagate is aggressively moving toward a future where 50-terabyte storage capacity HDDs for servers and cloud centers will become a reality, enhancing the capacity of hard drives on the market. “We changed the game by introducing 30-terabyte drives to the market, and we’re not stopping there. This innovation,

which we call MOZAIC 3+, sets a new standard in storage capacity,” Pandey explained.

Mozaic-enabled hard drives are the world’s most efficient storage solutions, capable of lowering acquisition and operational costs while increasing productivity. With Mozaic’s increased areal density, customers can store more data without increasing the consumption of space, power, or natural resources.

Seagate launched Mozaic 3+ earlier this year, aiming to provide enterprises with more room to scale for emerging applications and explosive data growth. This hardware further allows data centers to retain and leverage more data for analytics, archiving, content delivery, and disaster recovery, helping to close the current gap between data generated and data stored.

Pandey stated that the roadmap intends to scale up this hardware technology in the months and years to come. “Plus, it will evolve into MOZAIC 4, 5, and beyond. We have a roadmap that extends to 50 terabytes of storage capacity,” he added.

WHY 50 TERABYTES IS A KEY MILESTONE

As Pandey explains, this ultimate pivot toward a 50-terabyte world will have major benefits for technologies such as AI.

“All the data generated by new technologies like AI, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT) needs to be stored somewhere, and ultimately, that's on a hard drive,” said Pandey.

“At Seagate, we are increasing the areal density of our drives, which means we can store more data in the same physical space. This innovation significantly reduces the total cost of ownership,” he added.

In practical terms, Pandey explained that this means businesses and consumers can store more data at a lower cost per terabyte. This reduction in storage costs makes it more affordable to handle the vast amounts of data generated daily, enabling greater use of advanced technologies in our everyday applications and business transformations.

“Ultimately, it allows for greater innovation and efficiency across various industries,” Pandey concluded.

Eaton, the intelligent power management company, has opened a new state-of-the-art campus in Helsinki to boost its capacity to manufacture and supply Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, including its latest product, the Eaton 9395X.

Now in production at the company’s new state-of-the-art campus in Helsinki, Finland, the Eaton 9395X UPS occupies a footprint up to 30% smaller than similar UPS models and delivers superior energy efficiency thanks to its silicon carbide converters. In a data centre this makes it easier to reduce carbon emissions because less electricity is needed.

With a maximum power rating currently up to 1700 kVA that will be extended in the coming year, and exceptional power density, the Eaton

9395X is designed for outstanding resilience, building further on the already robust capabilities of the Power Xpert 9395P UPS. It is also an Eaton EnergyAware UPS, with grid interactive capability which means that data centre operators can reduce the total cost of ownership of the Eaton 9395X by earning revenue through energy market participation: they can sell the demand response services that help balance a highrenewable grid.

Qasem Noureddin, Commercial Director, Eaton Middle East, said: “We designed silicon carbide (SiC) based converters into the Eaton 9395X, so that it brings to market an efficiency of 97.5% in double-conversion mode. The fact that it needs up to 30% less cooling, and up to 30% less floorspace than similar UPS models, means that this UPS leaves more room for

revenue-generating IT equipment. It has top exhaust, with no rear clearance required, which means a further saving on space and lower installation costs, too.”

Easy deployment of the Eaton 9395X can be attributed to thoughtful design which includes ready-built sub-assemblies and simplified installation based on an inter-cabinet busbar design and self-configuring power modules. Large systems can be configured with one click, and with reliable self-monitoring systems inbuilt, there is less need for scheduled maintenance checks which adds up to further cost savings. HotSync patented load-sharing technology increases reliability whilst eliminating the risk of single point of failure. It guarantees the safe and reliable operation of the UPS by synchronizing parallel power modules and UPSs without the need for a communication link or synchronization signals.

The Eaton 9395X UPS is supplied with a full life-cycle analysis and eco passport to demonstrate its environmental impact through the supply chain, in manufacturing, and in use, all the way to its end-oflife which makes it easy to include in facility-level carbon emission calculations.
