BE A WOMAN & BE UNSTOPPABLE
Growing up, I believed that dreams had no limits. But along the way, I kept hearing that certain paths weren’t meant for me, just because I was a girl. Courage, they said, was for men, while women were expected to be quiet and modest. But I never bought into that.
I never wanted to hear, “Be a man.” Why should strength, ambition, and leadership be tied to gender? I’ve always believed that every person has the power to shape their own future. And when I stepped into the world of technology and journalism, I found countless incredible women who believed the same, women who challenged norms and proved that success has nothing to do with gender.
Today, at TECHx Media, I have the privilege of sharing the stories of remarkable women, leaders who have broken barriers, reshaped industries, and paved the way for future generations. Women who are driving change with confidence and proving that tech belongs to everyone
This special edition is all about them, their journeys, their struggles, their wins. The tech world isn’t about limits anymore; it’s about possibilities. And with more women stepping into leadership, the future looks more diverse, inclusive, and powerful than ever.
This magazine, entirely non-commercial and dedicated to recognizing a few of the many women making a difference, has been intentionally curated as a womenonly edition.
While it does not feature messages from our leadership team, it carries the full support of Khaled Almaeen (Chairman), Saifuddin Khawaja (Executive Board Member), and Sabeel Ismail (CEO), strong advocates for empowering women who played a vital role in bringing these stories to our readers.
To every woman making waves: Your journey Matters, Your voice is Powerful, and Your potential is Limitless.

VP of Worldwide Midmarket & SMB Sales
Sherifa Hady
HPE Aruba Networking
SHERIFA HADY: THE ENGINEER WHO
KICKED DOWN DOORS AND PLAYED FOOTBALL, TOO...
Sherifa Hady isn’t just overcoming obstacles, she’s conquering them. From playing football as a bold teen in Egypt to facing rejections simply for being a woman, Sherifa’s journey is one of reinvention and relentless self belief. Now VP of Worldwide Midmarket & SMB Sales at HPE Aruba Networking, she proves that with grit and drive, you can own your path, on the field, in the boardroom, and everywhere in between.
SHERIFA HADY: THE ENGINEER WHO KICKED DOWN DOORS AND PLAYED FOOTBALL, TOO...
It’s not every day you meet someone who describes their teenage self as both a top student and the life of the party. But then again, Sherifa Hady isn’t just anyone. Now the VP of Worldwide Midmarket & SMB Sales at HPE Aruba Networking, Sherifa’s story is a masterclass in self-belief, and breaking norms, whether on the football field or in the boardroom.
FROM THE UK TO EGYPT: A CULTURE SHOCK IN CLEATS
"I was brought up in the UK," Sherifa begins, painting a picture of her early years. "And then had to move when I was 12 back to Egypt. That was a bit of a culture shock."
Suddenly, a girl who just wanted to play football and hang out with the boys found herself navigating new social norms, and a new language. "People thought I was trying to be too much of a tomboy," she recalls. "But I’ve always felt that being different is a strength. I never saw myself as a minority. I saw myself as unique."
THE HARD NO
After earning her engineering degree in Egypt 30 years ago, Sherifa was ready to conquer the world, or so she thought. Instead, the world wasn’t quite ready for her.
"I applied for two jobs with multinational companies in Egypt. I was rejected from both because I was a woman," she says, matter-of-factly. One was an oil company that wouldn’t consider women on rigs. The other, a telecommunications firm with "unsuitable" hours for women.
"After five years of engineering, I thought I could do anything. And then to find out I couldn't take certain jobs because of my gender... that was really hurtful."
But as Sherifa points out, thankfully, times have changed. "That was many years ago. Today, those obstacles don't exist anymore." And perhaps that’s thanks, in part, to women like her, who didn’t take no for an answer.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2025 SPECIAL EDITION
AN ACCIDENTAL SALES STAR
With her screwdriver dreams on pause, Sherifa pivoted to sales. "I started at a company called ICL, now part of Fujitsu," she says. One of her first accounts? The biggest department store in Egypt.
"I remember thinking, who am I, a 20 year old kid, to tell this veteran CEO how to run his business?" But there she was, pitching barcodes to revolutionize inventory management.
After five years, Sherifa made her way to Dubai, joining a marketing agency managing HP and Microsoft. "HP didn’t even have an office in the region then. I literally had to go out and buy the dustbin and the fax machine," she laughs.
And from those humble beginnings? "Twenty five years later, here I am."
SETBACKS THAT MAKE SENSE
Sherifa is the first to admit her career hasn’t been a straight climb.
"You can imagine, over 25 years, I haven’t always gotten the job I wanted," she says. "I applied for a very senior role once. Everyone said I’d get it. And then... I didn’t."
Disappointed, she tried to make sense of it. But a month later, her mother needed two surgeries. "That’s when it clicked. I wouldn’t have been able to be there for her if I’d taken that job. Sometimes, when something doesn’t happen, there’s a good reason."
"You’ve got to believe in yourself. Know what you're good at, and be humble about it. Know your weaknesses, too, and work on them."
THE POWER OF BEING YOUR OWN DRIVER
Sherifa’s philosophy is clear: own your journey. "You’ve got to believe in yourself. Know what you're good at, and be humble about it. Know your weaknesses, too, and work on them."
But above all? "Drive your own career. No one’s going to show up and ask, ‘What would you like next?’ You have to steer the wheel. Make sure the people who can help you know where you're going."
She smiles, thinking back to advice she recently shared with a colleague. "I loved hearing how she’s taking charge of her path. That's what it's all about."
EXTENDING MORE THAN CAREERS
Among the numbers, targets, and quarterly goals, Sherifa finds pride in moments that transcend business. She reflects on a milestone in South Africa, where she championed extending the company’s retirement age.
“I think it was from 60 to 62 or 63. That wasn’t easy. The whole company in South Africa was based on retirement at 60. We analyzed other IT companies, worked with HR, built the business case, and we made it happen.”
The payoff? In the form of one memorable phone call. “A lady called me before her last day. She had just turned 62. And she said, ‘Sherifa, thank you for giving me two more working years of my life.’ That’s one of my proudest moments. Yes, our numbers matter. But it’s what we do for people that really counts.”
THE NEXT CHAPTER
Today, Sherifa leads HPE Aruba Networking’s worldwide midmarket and SMB business, managing customers and the Instant On product portfolio. It’s a big job, but after years of navigating hurdles, it's exactly where she belongs.
And if you’re wondering what’s next? Rest assured, she’s driving toward it already.
Joumana Karam Head of Marketing – MEA, New Business Development Manager – MEA, Acer
THE ONLY WOMAN IN THE ROOM, BUT THE STRONGEST PRESENCE JOUMANA KARAM
J oumana Karam, Head of Marketing – MEA and New Business Development Manager – MEA at Acer, embodies a rare blend of strength, warmth, and humility. Growing up in war-torn Lebanon, she found solace in education, determined to carve a future beyond the hardships surrounding her. With resilience and an unshakable belief in her abilities, she navigated the male-dominated tech industry, proving that talent and perseverance know no gender. Today, she plays a pivotal role in driving innovation and growth at Acer while uplifting those around her, embodying the true spirit of dedication and excellence.
A CHILDHOOD SHAPED BY RESILIENCE
Born and raised during the Lebanese civil war, Joumana's earliest memories are of a world overshadowed by conflict. Yet, amidst the chaos, she found solace in education. School was her sanctuary, a place where she excelled, always striving to be at the top of her class, despite being the youngest. Her mother, an avid reader, instilled in her a love for books, making them the most cherished gifts in their household.
"Being Lebanese meant mastering multiple languages at a very young age," Joumana recalls. "This early adaptability would later prove invaluable in my career."
In a time when many girls faced educational barriers, Joumana was fortunate to be raised in a family that championed education for all. While the war raged on, studying by candlelight in bomb shelters became the norm. Education was not just an escape but a beacon of hope, a path to a better future.
ENGINEERING A FUTURE
Joumana’s passion for mathematics and science led her to pursue engineering at the prestigious Lebanese University. Inspired by her maternal aunt and uncle, both engineers, she set her sights on the male
dominated world of telecommunications and electrical engineering.
Getting into the university was no small feat; from hundreds of applicants, only 100 were selected, and Joumana was among the top ten. As one of the few women in her field, she was often reminded of her minority status, but that never deterred her. She pursued a dual master’s degree in electricity and electrical engineering while already setting her sights on the next frontier, the tech industry.
"In my final year, I knew IT was where the future lay. I wanted to be part of the innovations that would shape our world," she says.
BREAKING INTO TECH: THE LONE WOMAN IN THE ROOM
Just a month after presenting her final university project, Joumana entered the workforce. She was the only woman in the room, a recurring theme in her career.
"At first, I was met with curiosity and skepticism. My work was scrutinized more than my male counterparts. But rather than being discouraged, I let my work speak louder than words," she explains.
After a challenging first year, she landed a role in a technical IT department, once again as the only female. But this time, she had found a clear path for growth. Over the years, she witnessed firsthand the rapid evolution of the tech industry, from bulky desktops to sleek, highperformance laptops, the rise of the internet, social media, and now, the era of Artificial Intelligence.
CHALLENGES, SETBACKS, AND THE MINDSET OF GROWTH
INTERNATIONAL
Joumana Karam's journey from war-torn Lebanon to leadership at Acer showcases her strength, ambition, and relentless pursuit of success in tech.
Navigating a male-dominated industry came with its share of obstacles. There were moments when her voice wasn’t heard, when she was labeled as "too aggressive," and when she faced outright negativity. But Joumana never backed down.
"Whenever my voice was ignored, I let my results do the talking. Whenever my decisions were questioned, I let data and analysis prove my point. And when faced with negativity, I responded with positivity and problem-solving," she shares.
Her career trajectory is a testament to resilience. From an IT technician to a call center agent, from IT management to sales and marketing leadership, Joumana climbed the ranks, holding key positions in Lebanon and the UAE. Today, she is no longer the only woman in the room, she remains part of the minority.
LEADING AT ACER: A DUAL ROLE OF STRATEGY AND INNOVATION
Currently, Joumana Karam holds a dual leadership role at Acer, overseeing marketing across the Middle East and Africa while also driving new business development.
As Head of Marketing – MEA, she orchestrates regional marketing strategies, digital and retail campaigns, influencer relations, and PR initiatives. She is also instrumental in product positioning and brand storytelling, ensuring Acer’s innovations reach the right audiences.
In her Business Development role, she drives the expansion of Acer’s non-PC product lineup, including e-mobility solutions, connectivity devices, and power solutions.
Since joining Acer in 2006, she has worn many hats, achieving multiple milestones and breaking barriers in the process. Yet, for her, success isn’t just about numbers and targets, it’s about the people she leads and inspires.
"My greatest reward is seeing my team grow. The joy on their faces after completing a challenge, whether small or big, is what keeps me motivated," she says.
A MESSAGE TO WOMEN IN TECH
For women aspiring to enter or grow in the tech industry, Joumana has a clear message:
"Technology is an ever evolving field, and the challenges women face here are no different than in any other industry. There will be good managers and bad ones, opportunities and setbacks. The key is to listen, learn, adapt, and most importantly, trust your own voice. Never let self-doubt hold you back. Encourage young women to embrace STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). And when you enter a room, speak up. You belong there."
Joumana Karam’s journey is not just about breaking barriers, it’s about redefining them. From a childhood marked by war to a career at the forefront of technological transformation, she continues to inspire the next generation of women in tech, proving that resilience, ambition, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge can pave the way to success.

SPECIAL EDITION
Suaad Al Suwaidi Wildlife Photographer
SUAAD AL SUWAIDI AND HER WILD LENS
Suaad Al Suwaidi, the world's first Arab female wildlife photographer, exemplifies the powerful synergy between passion and responsibility. This Emirati woman seamlessly blends her architectural expertise, and government experience, and adventurous spirit into a groundbreaking career in wildlife photography. Holding a master's degree in architecture and design, she has carved an extraordinary path, becoming the first Emirati and Arab woman to achieve such recognition.
AN AMERICAN CHILDHOOD IN THE HEART OF NATURE
Though born in the UAE, Suaad’s early years were painted with the colors of the United States. At the tender age of two, her family relocated to the U.S. while her father pursued his studies. It was there, amid the vast American landscapes, that Suaad’s love for nature blossomed. “I grew up surrounded by diverse cultures and the beauty of the wild,” she recalls, a smile playing across her face. “My childhood was filled with laughter, play, and the simple joys of being outdoors, running through woods, witnessing the wonders of nature.”
Her upbringing was uniquely American, but her roots remained deeply tied to her Emirati heritage. In a sense, her story reflects the beautiful fusion of worlds, one foot in the bustling cityscapes of the UAE and the other in the peaceful, untouched wilds of the American countryside.
A HAPPY ACCIDENT
It wasn’t always clear to Suaad that photography would become her calling. In fact, it was purely accidental. “I never imagined I’d be a photographer, let alone one specializing in wildlife,” she admits, laughing at the thought. “I was scared of domestic animals. I didn’t even know I had a passion for nature.”
But life has a way of surprising us. During her undergraduate years, far from her family and feeling a little lonely, Suaad picked up a camera. She began capturing the wildlife around her, the birds, deer, and squirrels that roamed freely in the U.S. It was a hobby that, at first, served as a companion in her solitude. But what began as a quiet escape soon transformed into a lifelong passion. “It felt like a gift, something unexpected that I grew to love,” she says.
OVERCOMING THE ODDS
Suaad’s journey into wildlife photography was not without its hurdles. But the challenges she faced were not the external ones many might assume.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2025 SPECIAL EDITION
“Most of the challenges I encountered were internal,” she reflects. “It was all about overcoming my own doubts and fears.
The environment I was in didn’t present any major obstacles, as I wasn’t starting my career in the UAE. I was studying in the U.S., working behind the scenes, and quietly developing my craft.”
Being a pioneer in a field dominated by men and international photographers didn’t faze Suaad.
“For me, it was about my love for photography, my passion for wildlife,” she explains. “I knew that this was what I was meant to do. Nothing else mattered –not the opinions of others, not the lack of recognition. As long as my mother supported me, I knew I was on the right path.”
CONQUERING THE WILDERNESS
Wildlife photography is grueling work, filled with long hours, harsh environments, and unpredictable subjects. Yet, for Suaad, the driving force has always been her passion. It’s what kept her going when faced with extreme conditions, like the freezing temperatures and altitude sickness she encountered while shooting in the Himalayas.
“When I was in the Himalayas at 5,000 meters, my body was slowly giving up,” she recalls. “I had headaches, nausea, and difficulty breathing, but I knew I couldn’t give up. There was something about capturing that moment that kept me going – I believed in what I was doing.”
Despite the physical toll, the reward of witnessing a moment of nature’s raw beauty kept Suaad pushing forward. “When you capture a moment like that, you’re not just snapping a photo. You’re holding your breath, waiting for the perfect second to arrive. It’s like giving a part of yourself to the image,” she says, her eyes gleaming with passion.
EVERY SHOT, A BATTLE
For Suaad, no shot is ever easy. Every photo tells a story of perseverance, whether she’s capturing Bengal tigers in the sweltering heat of India or fighting floods in Nepal to get the perfect shot. “Every shot is a challenge. Every time I go out, I am reminded that nature is unpredictable, and nothing is guaranteed,” she reflects.
And yet, each shot is an intimate dance between her and the wild, a connection that goes beyond the lens. “When I see these creatures, I feel like I’m receiving a gift from God. It’s a moment that cannot be described, only felt. The seconds when everything aligns that’s when you know you’re doing something that matters.”
A CALL TO ASPIRING PHOTOGRAPHERS
Suaad’s journey is one of resilience, passion, and the pursuit of purpose. As she looks back on her experiences, she has one piece of advice for aspiring photographers, especially women in the UAE and the Arab world:
“Believe in yourself and your passion. This isn’t about following trends or seeking validation. It’s about staying true to what you love. When your heart beats for something, let that drive your every action.”
For Suaad Al Suwaidi, wildlife photography is not just a career; it’s a way of life, one that transcends boundaries and expectations. In a world that often asks women to fit into predefined roles,
Suaad has carved out her own path, inspiring countless others to follow their own passions, regardless of the odds.
SUCCESS IS ABOUT RESULTS, NOT GENDER: GHADA ELKEISSI
Ghada Elkeissi is the Head of AWS Sovereign Cloud for the Middle East and Africa, with over 25 years of experience in the IT industry. Graduating from the American University in Cairo with a Bachelor’s degree (2000) and a Master’s degree (2003) in Computer Science, Ghada embarked on her professional path as a Software Engineer at IBM in 2003. Her talent quickly propelled her into the role of Executive Architect, where she worked closely with customers to secure and execute high impact projects.
In 2015, Ghada’s exceptional contributions were recognized when she was named one of the top technical women talents in IBM Middle East & Africa. She was also shortlisted for the prestigious HQ Distinguished Engineer Women Pipeline and was selected for a one year assignment in the United States as part of IBM’s Corporate Technology Evaluation team, led by IBM's Chairman & CEO. Reflecting on this pivotal experience, Ghada describes it as profoundly shaping both her career and personal journey.
Her next chapter unfolded at GE Power (now GE Vernova) in 2017, where she led diverse teams of software engineers, data scientists, and analytics experts to create repeatable, scalable solutions for the power industry, specifically within the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) domain. INSPIRATION FOR WOMEN AND YOUTH
Ghada's advice for those aspiring to grow in business or technology is grounded in five core principles:
Leadership is not limited to people management, it's about having a vision, driving it forward with others, and delivering measurable outcomes.
REFLECTIONS ON WOMEN IN TECH AND INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP
According to Ghada, the Middle East has made remarkable progress in gender diversity within the technology sector. Women are increasingly breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes, supported by transformative initiatives that champion inclusion.
She also emphasizes that diversity is expanding beyond gender. Notably, the UAE’s commitment to empowering People of Determination and ensuring equal opportunities is inspiring, with many technology companies contributing to this inclusive environment, creating workplaces enriched by a diversity of talents and skills.
ON LEADERSHIP AND GROWTH
For Ghada, impactful leadership is rooted in progressive, step by step growth. She believes there’s no shortcut to success, it's about building hands-on expertise early, developing the ability to lead others effectively, and embracing the art of delegation.
“Leadership isn't confined to people management,” she explains. “It’s about having a vision, driving it forward with others, and delivering tangible, measurable outcomes. Those who focus on execution and build successful stories over time become the most influential leaders.”
1. Continuous Learning, Stay curious, update your skills, and align with evolving market trends. Seek Coaching, Engage with mentors who can offer guidance across various domains.
2. Say Yes to Opportunities – Embrace challenges, acknowledge your gaps, and grow through experience.
3. Accept Failure – View setbacks as stepping stones that shape future success.
4. Grow Your Network – Leverage relationships for both career and personal development.
A VISION FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
When asked about her vision for future women leaders in technology and beyond, Ghada is clear and direct:
“Forget that you're a ‘woman.’ Focus on the value you bring to business, technology, and society.”
She encourages women to move past the anxieties of male dominated industries and self limiting beliefs. Success, she insists, is found in laser focus, sustained momentum, and the delivery of real, measurable results.
In a world of constant change, Ghada Elkeissi continues to be an exemplar of purpose driven leadership, leveraging technology not just as a tool for innovation, but as a catalyst for empow-erment, growth, and lasting impact.
“Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.”

Loubna Imenchal Head of Enterprise Business for AMETCA, Logitech
MOROCCAN ROOTS, GLOBAL REACH: LOUBNA IMENCHAL'S JOURNEY
Loubna Imenchal leads the Enterprise Business for AMETCA at Logitech, managing strategy and operations across Africa, the Middle East, Turkey, and Central Asia. With a focus on driving growth, building high performing teams, and expanding enterprise solutions, she plays a key role in strengthening Logitech’s presence across diverse and evolving markets. Throughout her career, Imenchal has navigated traditionally male dominated industries, advocating for greater representation in technology and emphasizing the value of inclusive leadership in achieving long term business success.
A FOUNDATION BUILT ON STRENGTH
Loubna’s story begins in Morocco, where her childhood was shaped by the extraordinary example of her mother, a woman who embodied resilience. “My mother raised three children, pursued higher education, and managed a family business all at once,” Loubna recalls. Watching her mother master the art of balance, while operating with integrity and determination, left an indelible mark. “She taught me that persistence, ethics, and responsibility are the keys to success. That foundation has guided me through every challenge in my career.”
In a country where strides have been made to improve education for women, especially in urban areas, barriers still persist. Traditional mindsets and systemic inequalities linger, particularly in rural communities. But for Loubna, these societal challenges fueled her drive to prove that women belong in the boardroom, the lab, and the innovation hub. “More women are entering tech and business,” she says, “but we still face gender biases. The key is representation, mentorship, and resilience.”
BLENDING THEORY WITH PRACTICE
Loubna’s education reflects her practical, forward thinking mindset. While working at Alcatel North Africa, she simultaneously pursued her MBA at the prestigious Ecole des Ponts Business School. Juggling a demanding academic schedule with the realities of corporate life was no easy feat. Yet, this dual experience proved invaluable. “It taught me how to apply theoretical knowledge directly to business challenges,” she shares. “You don't just learn strategy, you live it.”
A CAREER FORGED IN UNLIKELY SPACES
Unlike many in the tech industry, Loubna’s career began in engineering, without the traditional engineering background. In high stakes roles like Business Unit Director at Honeywell and Vice President EMEA at Johnson Controls, she faced skepticism head on. “There was always that initial doubt,” she admits. “But I focused on what matters: the customer. Delivering results built credibility and silenced the doubters.”
This market driven approach, grounded in understanding real customer needs, has been a cornerstone of her success. Leading experienced teams, some with decades of tenure, Loubna earned respect through outcomes, not titles. “Leadership isn't given. It’s proven.”
ENTERING THE TECH ARENA
What brought Loubna into the world of technology?
A passion for creating impact and shaping the next generation. “Tech has the power to transform, but women need to be at the table. We make up over half the global population and hold immense purchasing power, why wouldn’t we be part of the decision making process?” she asks.
Still, tech remains a field where women must often work twice as hard to prove their worth. Beyond the external challenges of bias, there’s an internal battle many women face: self-doubt. Loubna is determined to dismantle both. “We need to own our place, advocate for ourselves, and create environments where diverse voices are truly valued.”
TURNING SETBACKS INTO STRATEGY
One of the greatest obstacles in Loubna’s path has been what she calls “second generation gender bias”, the subtle, often unconscious biases that limit opportunities for women. “It's not always overt discrimination,” she explains. “It’s systemic. It's cultural. But we can tackle it through education, empowerment, and safe spaces where women can share, support, and strategize.”
For Loubna, authentic leadership has been her compass. Rather than conforming to outdated stereotypes, she remains anchored in her purpose: driving real change through collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity.
LEADING AT LOGITECH: IMPACT AT SCALE
Today, as the Head of Enterprise Business for AMETCA at Logitech, Loubna leads with purpose and passion. Responsible for driving growth and strategy across an incredibly diverse region, she has overseen significant revenue increases and built high performing, multicultural teams.
But beyond the numbers, it’s Logitech’s commitment to inclusion that excites her most. “We believe innovation comes from diverse perspectives,” she says. Through partnerships like Girls Who Code, Logitech is equipping the next generation of female tech leaders with both tools and opportunities. “Seeing these young women explore STEM, knowing we're helping shape their futures, that's incredibly rewarding.”
Women control significant purchasing power, our insights should shape the products and decisions of the tech industry.
A Message for the Next Generation
For women contemplating a career in tech, Loubna’s advice is as practical as it is empowering:
“Don’t be deterred by male dominated environments. Your success depends on your skills, your results, and your ability to collaborate and lead. Know your rights, educate yourself on your contracts and labor laws, and most importantly, never underestimate the value of your unique perspective.”
As industries push forward into the next era of digital transformation, Loubna Imenchal is focused on ensuring that progress is both sustainable and inclusive, setting a standard for leadership that balances results with responsibility.

TILLY LOCKEY: THE GIRL WITH GLITTERED BIONIC ARMS
Tilly Lockey’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. From a shy child to a global motivational speaker, an innovator in prosthetic technology, and a rising music artist, she embodies resilience, adaptability, and a passion for breaking barriers. In this exclusive interview, Tilly opens up about her challenges, triumphs, and the unwavering determination that has shaped her life.
A BEAUTIFUL CHAOS: THE MAKING OF TILLY LOCKEY
“My journey has been up and down for sure,” Tilly shares with a smile. “Adaptability has been key, but I like to think it’s been a beautiful sort of chaos!”
Born with an unshakable sense of determination, Tilly was a naturally shy child but always had a fire within her to carve her own path. Today, she travels the world as a motivational speaker, works with leading tech companies to develop groundbreaking prosthetic technology, and documents her inspiring journey on social media. And if that weren’t enough, she also sings, proving that no challenge is too great for her.
REDEFINING LIMITATIONS: OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
Despite her positive outlook, Tilly acknowledges that life with a physical disability hasn’t always been easy. “People often see my motivational speaking and think I’m just this endlessly positive person. But of course, life isn’t always sunshine and daisies.”
At just 15 months old, Tilly lost both of her hands due to meningitis, and from an early age, she was given a list of things she supposedly “couldn’t do.” But she refused to let those limitations define her. “Having a disability comes with a lot of assumptions, and people tend to set their expectations low. I get it, if I told someone with hands to suddenly do everything without them, it would seem impossible. But I’ve always had to prove myself, and I thrive on that challenge.”
One of the first times Tilly truly felt “different” was at the park with her sisters. While they could instantly make friends, she noticed she had to explain her situation first, something that made her self-conscious. “Kids are naturally curious, and I understood that, but it still made me feel like I had to justify myself before I could just be a kid.”
Even early prosthetic solutions reinforced the idea that her difference should be hidden. “The first prosthetic I was given was just a glove. When we asked what it did, we were told, ‘It doesn’t do anything. It’s just so she looks normal in public.’ That stuck with me.” Today, Tilly proudly wears bionic arms covered in glitter, making them a statement rather than something to conceal. “Sympathy was never something I wanted. I wasted a lot of summers avoiding social situations, but now I’m finally tackling that head-on.”
A STRONG SUPPORT SYSTEM: FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Despite the external challenges, Tilly credits her family, especially her three sisters, for shaping her independent spirit. “The best thing about my upbringing is that my family never treated me any differently. If they could do something, I could do it too, maybe in a different way, but I could still do it.”
Her family encouraged her to try everything, while also making it clear that asking for help was okay. “They let me vocalize when I needed support, which helped build my confidence and independence.”
Tilly Lockey
Global Motivational Speaker
Even in social situations, those closest to her have picked up on her unique mannerisms. “When I gesture, I still feel my fingers, and my friends and family understand those movements. Nothing feels out of the ordinary.” Of course, she adds with a grin, “It’s also pretty cool to actually throw a peace sign when I’m wearing my bionic arms!”
THE POWER OF TECHNOLOGY: A LIFE TRANSFORMED Technology has been a game changer in Tilly’s life. Growing up during a time of rapid innovation, she has witnessed the evolution of prosthetics firsthand. “I got my first prosthetic when I was two years old, but it was just a hook held together by elastic bands! It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come.”
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2025
SPECIAL EDITION
Tilly Lockey's inspiring journey from overcoming adversity to becoming a global motivational speaker and prosthetic innovator showcases her unbreakable spirit and passion.
Her childhood was as much about labs as it was about classrooms, and today, she continues to be a vocal advocate for innovation.
“Technology excites me. I can’t wait to see what’s next!”
A MESSAGE TO THE WORLD
If there’s one thing Tilly wants people to take away from her journey, it’s this:
“Never change who you are, and live every single day to the fullest.”
Instead of simply being a user, Tilly has taken an active role in prosthetic development. She has tested various prototypes, given feedback as a real user, and collaborated with tech companies to push advancements. “I made it my mission to improve this technology, to be the guinea pig who actually gives honest feedback as someone who needs these devices every day.”
Reflecting on her own near-death experience, she emphasizes, “The odds of any of us being here today are so slim. So why waste time doubting yourself? Adversity doesn’t have to define you, it can make you stronger. Be kind to yourself.”
Tilly Lockey is living proof that limitations exist only if you accept them. With her resilience, charisma, and passion for innovation, she continues to inspire people around the world, one glitter covered bionic arm at a time.

EVERY OBSTACLE IS AN OPPORTUNITY: SHEETAL KALRA
Nestled in the enchanting valley of Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, Sheetal Kalra was born into a world where the grandeur of nature met the warmth of family. Growing up in a home adorned with a fragrant rose garden and a flourishing kitchen garden, Sheetal’s childhood was infused with the beauty and lessons of nature. Her father, a successful businessman, alongside her mother, instilled in Sheetal and her three sisters the values of hard work, and the importance of education.
YOUR VOICE, YOUR IDEAS, AND YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS MATTER. THE FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY NEEDS DIVERSITY.
From a young age, Sheetal was captivated by the power of innovation, with a deep fascination for science and technology. Her parents nurtured this curiosity, making education a top priority. Her academic journey began at Caset School, one of Kashmir’s most esteemed institutions, where she was encouraged to think critically and challenge boundaries. It was here that Sheetal developed a love for learning, eagerly anticipating the start of each school day, and most memorably, her father’s thought-provoking conversations during their commute, moments that would shape her outlook on life.
THE SITUATION FOR WOMEN IN SRINAGAR
Srinagar, a city of remarkable beauty and rich culture, was not without its struggles, particularly for women in education and career opportunities. In the 1990s, the region was embroiled in con-flict, and for Kashmiri Pandit women like Sheetal, the path to success was fraught with challenges.
With the insurgency gripping the valley, Sheetal’s family, having already faced personal loss in 1989, found themselves displaced, forced to flee to Lucknow. In the face of adversity, Sheetal’s mother stood as a symbol of strength and determination, ensuring the safety and well-being of her children. Their journey from the valley to a new life in Lucknow marked the beginning of Sheetal’s resilience-driven pursuit of success.
EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY
As the world around her embraced the digital revolution, Sheetal’s curiosity about technology deepened. She pursued higher education at Lucknow University, where she discovered the power of collaboration and innovation. While studying, Sheetal balanced her academic responsibilities with the need to support her family financially, working tirelessly through her college years. Despite the challenges, she remained steadfast in her commitment to her passion for technology, gaining experience and insight into the role of women in the tech space.

With the guidance of inspirational educators,
Sheetal thrived in the industry, eager to challenge conventions and build a successful career in technology.
ENTERING THE TECH INDUSTRY
In 2000, Sheetal stepped into the predominantly maledominated IT industry with a sense of both excitement and apprehension. Her early years were filled with learning and adapting, proving her skills and resilience in an ever-evolving field.
Over the years, Sheetal’s career blossomed as she transitioned from Sales Coordinator to Assistant Product Manager, Product Manager, and even-tually Business Head for top cybersecurity product lines across the Middle East.
Her ability to embrace innovation and drive growth has been central to her journey, and today, as the Regional Channel Manager for SolarWinds in the Middle East and Turkey, she continues to lead with pas-sion and determination.
CHALLENGES AS A WOMAN IN TECH
Like many women in tech, Sheetal faced her fair share of hurdles, unconscious bias, the challenge of making her voice heard, and the constant need to prove herself.
Rather than allowing these obstacles to deter her, Sheetal used them as stepping stones. Every challenge strengthened her resolve, and every setback became an opportunity for growth. She has since become a leading advocate for women in technology, actively mentoring young women and providing guidance and support to those entering the field.
SETBACKS AND KEY LESSONS
One of the most pivotal moments in Sheetal’s career came between 2011 and 2013 when the distribution company she worked for shut down its operations in the Middle East. Faced with a career setback, Sheetal realized that adversity was not a failure, but a powerful lesson in adaptability and resilience. She quickly found a new role, albeit with a pay cut, but she embraced the opportunity with a growth mindset. She learned that no matter the title or pay, each role contributed to the overall success of an organization.
This mindset has fueled her self-motivation, and Sheetal has consistently worked toward improving herself while respecting everyone around her.
CURRENT ROLE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In her current role as Regional Channel Manager for SolarWinds, Sheetal leads channel management strategies that drive business growth and strengthen industry partnerships. She orchestrates seamless collaboration between partners, distributors, and internal teams to optimize sales channels and enhance market presence. Under her leadership,
SolarWinds has seen significant growth, and Sheetal’s ability to leverage data-driven insights and innovative strategies has played a crucial role in expanding revenue streams and scaling operational efficiency.
One of Sheetal’s proudest achievements has been the development and execution of a transformative channel strategy that has set a benchmark for efficiency and innovation within the industry.
Beyond business growth, Sheetal is deeply committed to mentoring and empowering women, ensuring that the path forward is more inclusive and supportive for future generations of women in technology.
A MESSAGE TO ASPIRING WOMEN IN TECH
To all the women who aspire to make their mark in the world of technology and beyond, Sheetal’s message is clear:
“Believe in yourself, embrace challenges, and never let societal norms define your potential. The road may be tough, but every obstacle is an opportunity to grow, and every victory, no matter how small, is a testament to your strength.
Seek out mentors, uplift one another, and step forward with confidence. Your ideas, your voice, and your contributions matter. The future of technology needs diversity, and your presence in this industry is not just valuable, it is necessary. Keep chasing your dreams, dream big, and never let go of your journey of passion, perseverance, and purpose.”
Sheetal Kalra’s story is not just about a career in technology, it’s about breaking barriers, rising above challenges, and empowering others to do the same. Her journey continues to inspire countless individuals, especially women, to carve their own paths and reach for their dreams.
Didem Eker
Channel Marketing Manager, META
Seagate Technology
DIDEM EKER: A JOURNEY OF CURIOSITY & COURAGE
Didem Eker’s journey is one of curiosity, courage, and constant evolution. Growing up in İzmir, Turkey, she embraced education, independence, and diverse experiences, from navigating the complexities of Istanbul to studying abroad in France. Her career in tech, which began unexpectedly at Adobe Turkey, has led her to Seagate, where she now leads regional marketing efforts across the META region. Didem’s blend of creativity, strategy, and innovation drives her commitment to leveraging technology for personalized, impactful customer experiences.
Growing up along the sunlit shores of İzmir, Didem Eker quickly learned the value of freedom, education, and independence. The vibrant streets of this historic Turkish city weren’t just home, they were the backdrop to a mindset built on curiosity and self-determination. “İzmir shaped who I am,” Didem reflects. “It’s a city that celebrates diversity and progress, and that energy definitely fueled my desire to push boundaries.”
From her earliest school years, foreign languages opened doors that would lead far beyond Turkey. But it wasn’t only academics that stood out; the summers by the Aegean Sea carved some of her fondest memories, offering the perfect balance to rigorous studies and instilling an early appreciation for life’s contrasts, discipline and joy, work and rest.
FROM İZMIR TO ISTANBUL: STEPPING INTO THE UNKNOWN
While İzmir laid the foundation, Istanbul sharpened her edge. Drawn by opportunity and driven by an adventurous spirit, Didem left her hometown to embrace the sprawling, fast-paced life of Turkey’s largest city. “It wasn’t easy moving away from my family at such a young age,” she admits. “But the lessons
I learned navigating Istanbul's complexities were priceless. Looking back, that decision prepared me for the rapid changes of today’s tech industry.”
With a degree in Political Science taught entirely in French, her education was anything but ordinary. A government scholarship took her to Rennes, France, an experience that transformed her view of the world. “Living abroad teaches you resilience. You become adaptable. And you understand the true meaning of cultural exchange, which continues to influence how I work with diverse markets today.”
Later, as her career path became clearer, Didem dove into a master’s degree in marketing, zeroing in on consumer behavior, a fascination that remains central to her work. And the learning hasn’t stopped. “I’m always a student. Whether it’s through books, articles, or hands-on experience, there’s always something new to explore. A Ph.D. might even be on the horizon.”
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2025
A CAREER REWRITTEN BY TECHNOLOGY

Collaborating with industry giants like Autodesk, Adobe, Microsoft, Huawei, HP, Lenovo, and more, Didem gained a panoramic view of the tech ecosystem and its many moving parts.
I’m always a student. Whether it’s through books, articles, or handson experience, there’s always something new to explore.
And now? She’s three years into her dynamic role as Channel Marketing Manager, META, at Seagate, a global force in mass apacity storage innovation. Here, Didem’s focus extends across the UAE, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Kuwait, Qatar, and North Africa. It’s a landscape as diverse as it is demanding, where creativity and strategy must work hand in hand to adapt to each market’s nuances.
FACING CHALLENGES, FINDING GROWTH
Working in tech as a woman comes with its share of obstacles. But Didem has found that handling differences with professionalism and respect turns challenges into stepping stones. “It’s not about avoiding conflict; it’s about how you manage it. Negotiation is an art. The most meaningful growth, whether personal or organizational, happens when we address disagreements with openness and purpose.”
After more than 15 years in the industry, her biggest takeaway is simple but profound: business runs on people. Authentic relationships, clear communication, and the ability to turn problems into solutions, these are the real drivers of long term success.
LEADING THE CHARGE AT SEAGATE
At Seagate, Didem is leading marketing efforts that extend well beyond traditional campaigns. Whether it’s launching strategic partner programs, orchestrating high-impact events like GITEX and Intersec, or collaborating with tech allies like Milestone and QNAP at regional summits, she’s ensuring Seagate’s innovations reach the right audiences.
One standout moment? Winning the “Outstanding Commercial Security Solutions Award” at Intersec 2025 for Seagate’s groundbreaking Mozaic 3+ technology. But success isn’t just about awards. It’s about blending digital engagement with face to face connections, building a comprehensive strategy that drives real value for partners and customers alike.
LOOKING AHEAD: THE FUTURE IS PERSONAL
For Didem, the future of marketing belongs to those who harness the power of technology, creativity, and data. “Artificial intelligence, machine learning, smart cities, they’re not just buzzwords anymore. They’re shaping how we live and work. To stay relevant, we need to embrace these tools and use them to create personalized, meaningful experiences for our customers.”
Curiosity, resilience, and a passion for innovation continue to guide her path. And with each new challenge, Didem Eker proves that success isn’t just about where you come from, it’s about how far you’re willing to go.
“You just gotta keep going and fighting for everything, and one day you'll get to where you want.”

THE ONE WHO CODED HER OWN FUTURE
DR. EKATERINA SIRAZI TDI NOVA
Technology is often seen as a man’s world, but Dr. Ekaterina Sirazitdinova proves that talent has no gender. As Senior Data Scientist at NVIDIA AI Enterprise EMEA, she is helping global enterprises navigate the future of generative AI. Yet her story doesn’t begin in a high-tech hub or a cutting-edge lab, it starts in Eastern Europe, where a young girl fell in love with coding and refused to let expectations define her path.
Dr. Ekaterina Sirazitdinova

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
“I was 11 when I started teaching myself how to code,” Ekaterina recalls. “It was just a hobby. I’d build small websites and play around with programs for fun.” Back then, she didn’t realize this was the spark of something bigger. Her curiosity was boundless, stretching across languages, literature, and economics, but technology kept calling her back.
Growing up, the odds weren’t exactly in her favor. Her hometown was a place where traditional gender roles ran deep. Women in tech? Rare. Opportunities? Scarce. But instead of bowing to the norms, she found fuel in the challenge.
“Seeing so few women in technical fields didn’t discourage me, it motivated me to push harder,” she says.
The game-changer came in eighth grade when she entered a school that believed in talent over stereotypes. With a support system of teachers who pushed her potential, Ekaterina flourished. She competed in academic contests ranging from math to literature and consistently ranked among the best. “Those experiences gave me confidence that I could do anything I set my mind to. I owe so much to the teachers who believed in me.”
BUILDING KNOWLEDGE ACROSS BORDERS
After high school, Ekaterina chose a path that blended business and technology, earning a Diploma in Business Informatics from Baikal State University of Economics and Law. It was there she first explored the intersection of programming, databases, enterprise systems, and economic principles, a multidisciplinary foundation that would later prove invaluable.
But she wasn’t done. Hungry to go deeper into computer science, she moved to Germany to pursue a Master’s in Media Informatics at RWTH Aachen University. Initially fascinated by computer graphics, web technologies, and game development, life surprised her with an unexpected pivot: medical imaging. What began as a side project turned into a passion, ultimately leading to her master’s thesis in computer vision, and later, a Ph.D. focused on medical image processing, 3D reconstruction, and tracking.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2025 SPECIAL EDITION
FROM RESEARCH TO REAL-WORLD IMPACT
The transition from academia to industry felt natural for Ekaterina. “I loved research, but I wanted to create something that extended beyond academic papers,” she explains. Applied AI was calling, and soon she found herself in the thick of deep learning for medical image analysis, a field that was exploding with possibility.
Then came NVIDIA. The opportunity to work at the cutting edge of AI innovation was irresistible. Today, as a Senior Data Scientist, Ekaterina empowers organizations across EMEA to integrate generative AI into their operations and products. From designing infrastructure to fine-tuning models, she helps businesses turn AI potential into AI reality.
But for Ekaterina, her work is about more than just code and algorithms. It’s about sharing knowledge, speaking at conferences, building demos, and uplifting the next wave of innovators. “The more we educate and empower others, the stronger this field becomes.”
THE CHALLENGES NO ONE SEES
Behind every success story is the struggle people don’t always talk about. For Ekaterina, it wasn’t just technical hurdles she had to overcome, it was bias.
“There were times when my skills were questioned simply because I’m a woman,” she shares. “Early in my career, I often felt I had to prove myself twice as much as my male colleagues.”
And then there’s the silent enemy: imposter syndrome. That nagging feeling of not belonging. Of not being enough.
“It’s something many women in tech experience,” she says. “But over time, I realized self-doubt is normal. The key is to never let it stop you.”
Her recipe for overcoming it? Confidence. Perseverance. Community. “Find mentors. Build your network. Surround yourself with people who support you. The more women we have in tech, the faster we can break down these outdated perceptions.”
There were times when my skills were questioned simply because I’m a woman. Early in my career, I often felt I had to prove myself twice as much as my male colleagues.
WORDS TO THE DREAMERS
If there’s one message Ekaterina wants to leave readers with, it’s this:
"Don’t let self-doubt hold you back. If you love something, go after it. Even if no one else around you looks like you. Especially then."
And remember: tech isn’t a solo sport. Collaboration is where the magic happens. Asking for help is not weakness, it’s how innovation is born.
So, whether you’re an aspiring coder in a small town or a seasoned professional navigating new territory, take up space. Own your ambition. And keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
Because, as Dr. Ekaterina Sirazitdinova proves, the future of AI, and the future of tech itself, belongs to those who dare to build it.

Reflecting on her early years, Binciya recalls not being among the top performers in her school, an environment that prioritized academic excellence above all else. "A teacher once remarked that I’d probably be married off after high school," she shares. "But what they didn't see was the legacy of strong, educated women I came from, women who consistently defied societal norms." For Binciya, education was never just about grades; it was about character, discipline, and an enduring sense of curiosity.
AN ACADEMIC JOURNEY THAT CHANGED COURSE
Binciya's educational path took her through some of India’s leading institutions, where she pur-sued undergraduate and master’s degrees in business. While her parents initially hoped she would pursue a career in medicine, she found herself drawn to the dynamic, problem-solving world of business and marketing, a decision that would ultimately shape her professional future.
As part of her MBA program, Binciya moved to Dubai to complete her thesis, gaining firsthand experience in one of the region's most vibrant business hubs. "Moving to a new country, even with family nearby, was a leap of faith," she explains. "But it taught me the value of adaptability, stra-tegic thinking, and resilience. Growth, I realized, happens outside your comfort zone."
FROM INTERNSHIPS TO INDUSTRY INSIGHT
Binciya's professional career began with an internship in the insurance sector, but her interest quickly shifted when she joined a children's magazine company. The role provided her with unique insight into the education and edutainment sector, introducing her to schools and universi-ties across the UAE. "That experience showed me that education extends far beyond classrooms. It's an evolving ecosystem that requires innovation and leadership," she says.
Further roles within higher education allowed her to hone her skills in business development, strategic marketing, and networking. She found her passion in helping students bridge the gap between academic learning and meaningful employment. In 2019, just six months after becoming a mother, she successfully facilitated over 100 student admissions in a single year, a milestone that solidified her belief in her professional capabilities and future ambitions.
WELLINGTON EDUCATION: A VISION REALIZED
Determined to create something of her own, Binciya founded Wellington Education with the mission of transforming higher education in the UAE. Establishing herself in a male dominated industry came with challenges, particularly early on. "I was once told to come back when I was older. The implication was that expertise only comes with age," she recalls.

RESILIENCE THROUGH SETBACKS
TO EVERY YOUNG WOMAN NAVIGATING HER CAREER: WORK ON YOURSELF AND YOUR MINDSET.
Nevertheless, Wellington Education has grown steadily under her leadership. Today, the institution partners with leading universities from Germany, the UK, and the US, offering globally recognized degrees. Initially focused on management programs,
Wellington has since expanded to include technologydriven courses, with a strong emphasis on AI, mentorship, and internships that combine theoretical knowledge with practical industry experience.
Looking ahead, one of the company's key initiatives is the launch of a Learning Management System (LMS) platform designed to make education more accessible and industry relevant.
With features such as gamified learning environments and corporate training collaborations with organizations like SAP, Deloitte, and Dubizzle, Wellington aims to prepare students for the evolving demands of the global workforce.
Binciya acknowledges that the entrepreneurial path is often more challenging than it appears.
"Entrepreneurship is romanticized, but the reality involves significant setbacks," she says. One of the most difficult periods came when a business partnership collapsed, resulting in substantial finan-cial losses. "People said recovery was impossible. I wasn’t just starting over, I was starting from below zero."
For Binciya, it was resilience, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to her vision that allowed her to rebuild and continue moving forward. "Business isn’t about avoiding failure; it’s about navigating through it and coming back stronger."
ADVICE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
To aspiring professionals, especially young women, Binciya offers clear guidance. "Work on yourself and your mindset. Don't allow others to define your worth or limit your aspirations. The world may set boundaries, but the real barriers are the ones we accept."
She advocates for open and collaborative workplaces and believes that leadership is as much about uplifting others as it is about driving innovation. "When done right, education is the most powerful tool for change," she says.
Reflecting on her journey, Binciya concludes with a message to those who may have doubted her capabilities: "To those who questioned whether a 31-year-old woman could run a college, watch us redefine the future of education."
“Investing in women is smart economics, and investing in girls, catching them upstream, is even smarter economics.”

FROM ENGINEER TO ENTREPRENEUR: UMA SHANKARI’S JOURNEY
As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, it is the perfect moment to highlight the journey of a woman who defied societal norms and built an empire in the tech industry, Uma Shankari, Managing Director of Luckystar Computers LLC. From a small town in Tamil Nadu to leading a thriving IT business in Dubai, her story is one of resilience, vision, and unwavering determination.
Uma Shankari Managing Director of Luckystar Computers
LLC
A CHILDHOOD OF LEADERSHIP AND LEARNING
Born into a middle-class family in Tamil Nadu, Uma Shankari was the third child in a household that valued education and discipline. With two brothers and an elder sister, her childhood was filled with warmth, yet structured with expectations of excellence. Even at a young age, she was outspoken and bold, characteristics that often led to strict discipline from her parents. However, these same traits shaped her into a natural leader. From fifth grade through college, she was consistently chosen as a class leader, a role that helped her build self-confidence and sharpen her communication skills.
Excelling academically, Uma pursued a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and soon embarked on a journey that would take her far from home.
A LEAP OF FAITH IN NEW DELHI
Moving to New Delhi was a defining moment in Uma’s life. Coming from Tamil Nadu, she barely spoke Hindi, making her initial days in the capital city challenging. However, within just 15 days of arrival, she landed a job as a programmer at a software company. But sitting behind a screen, coding all day, did not align with her dynamic personality. She took a bold step, quitting her programming job to explore the hardware industry.
This led her to a quality control role at the Epson semi-assembled factory in Noida. The job came with a grueling four hour-daily commute between Delhi and Noida, but she thrived in the technical environment. Her deep understanding of computers quickly earned her promotions, shifting her from hardware to marketing, and ultimately to the role of Sales Head for South India.
FROM EMPLOYEE TO ENTREPRENEUR
By 1991, Uma had carved a niche for herself in the male-dominated IT industry. She realized there was an untapped market in South India and decided to take another leap, starting her own computer trading business.
Her knowledge of the supply chain in the North and the demand in the South gave her an edge. By 1993, her company had made a significant impact, not just financially, but also in boosting her confidence as a businesswoman. However, another major life change was on the horizon.

A NEW BEGINNING IN DUBAI
Marriage took Uma to Dubai in 1993, a city brimming with opportunities. Within seven days of arriving, she secured a job as a System Engineer in the IT industry. Her expertise and drive propelled her career forward, and soon she transitioned into sales, showroom management, and ultimately, general management.
By 1995, she was one of the few female computer engineers in Dubai, making a mark in a rapidly growing industry. With strong relationships with vendors and customers, Uma saw the potential to establish something bigger.
Encouraged by her husband, Mr. Krishnamoorthy, she embarked on her most ambitious venture yet, Luckystar Computers LLC.
THE RISE OF LUCKYSTAR COMPUTERS
The journey of building Luckystar Computers LLC was not easy. Uma and her husband worked 12-hour days, determined to make their business a success. Their persistence paid off, and every three years, they opened new branches.
Today, Luckystar has five branches and a distribution office in India, serving over 10,000 businesses and individuals. The company has received multiple awards for its contributions to the tech industry, solidifying its reputation as a trusted name in IT solutions.
BREAKING BARRIERS IN A MALE-DOMINATED INDUSTRY
As a woman navigating the IT world, Uma never allowed gender to limit her. “I always saw men as colleagues or subordinates, never as a challenge,” she shares. This mindset helped her thrive in male-dominated boardrooms and conferences, paving the way for more women in tech.
Her journey was made possible with the unwavering support of her husband and sister, Mrs. Umasunder, who played key roles in the company’s success.
Building my own business was the greatest leap I took, it was the turning point that set me on a path of selfdiscovery and empowerment.
BALANCING WORK, FAMILY, AND PHILANTHROPY
Beyond business, Uma takes immense pride in her son, Sakthi Krishnamoorthy, who aspires to be a pilot. Despite the demands of their careers, Uma and her husband have supported his dreams wholeheartedly.
In 2018, she expanded her focus to philanthropy, helping underprivileged students complete their education.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she collaborated with the Indian Consulate and humanitarian groups to assist 375 individuals in returning home. More recently, she was involved in amnesty programs for underprivileged migrants.
A MESSAGE TO WOMEN IN TECH
As she reflects on her journey, Uma offers a powerful message:
"Never stop reading, never stop dreaming big, and always work hard toward your goals. Distance yourself from negativity and keep your head held high""
Karma plays a significant role, do good without expecting anything in return. Empower those around you and help at least 10 underprivileged children complete their education in your lifetime.
Uma Shankari’s story is a testament to perseverance, courage, and the power of self-belief.
As the world honors women who break barriers, her journey stands as an inspiration to every woman striving to carve her own path in the world of business and technology.
Jen Wei VP of Global Communications and Corporate Development, Belkin
YOU OFTEN ONLY GET WHAT YOU ASK FOR: JEN WEI
In the heart of Silicon Valley, where startups bloom as frequently as the morning sun rises, Jen Wei's story began, rooted in Cupertino, California, long before it was synonymous with tech empires. Today, she stands as the Vice President of Global Communications and Corporate Development at Belkin, but her journey to the top has been anything but predictable. Instead, it’s a masterclass in resilience, reinvention, and the art of finding one’s true calling.
GROWING UP IN THE CRADLE OF INNOVATION
To the world, Cupertino is the headquarters of Apple. To Jen, it was simply home. Surrounded by the hum of early tech innovation in the 1990s, the concept of a "startup" wasn't a business model, it was a way of life. With friends whose parents were engineers and founders, and a father who built his career as a software engineer at HP, Daisy, and Cisco, technology was woven into the fabric of Jen’s childhood.
But alongside tech, Jen nurtured a different rhythm, a deep passion for music. While excelling in one of the Bay Area's most competitive high schools, she balanced multiple varsity sports, per-formed in a traveling choir, and competed in both piano and violin at regional levels. As a pianist for her local youth symphony, she learned lessons that would follow her forever: discipline, creativity, and resilience.
In Cupertino, opportunities for women, especially in STEM, were visible, but not without barriers. The model minority myth loomed large, and gender inequity persisted beneath the surface. It’s a duality that shaped Jen's perspective and continues to drive her commitment to lifting other women as she climbs.
A SCHOLAR, A LEADER, AND A PATHFINDER
Jen's academic chapter unfolded at UCLA, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Environmental Sciences. Yet, her education extended far beyond lecture halls.
As a founding member of Alpha Kappa Psi's co-ed business fraternity, Athletic Director for the Association of Chinese Americans, a club soccer player, and even a cadet in the Army ROTC, Jen sought out every opportunity to lead, serve, and grow. These experiences honed her ability to build community, solve problems, and adapt, skills that would later become the foundation of her corporate success.
AN UNCONVENTIONAL PATH INTO TECH
After graduation, Jen’s trajectory was anything but linear. She bartended. She tutored. She worked at an aquarium. She directed an after-school program. But it was a public relations extension course at UCLA, taken to help her family’s nonprofit supporting children and adults with special needs, that lit the spark for her true calling: storytelling and strategic communication.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2025 SPECIAL EDITION
Fueled by newfound passion, she completed UCLA’s PR certificate program and secured an internship at a leading tech PR agency. Quickly, she ascended the ranks, driven by her deep-rooted understanding of tech, her diverse life experiences, and an unwavering commitment to service.
A pivotal moment came when she led an advertising tech account under CMO Kieran Hannon, who saw something extraordinary in Jen. When Hannon transitioned to Belkin as CMO, he knew exactly who he wanted by his side. Nearly a decade ago, he brought Jen into the Belkin family, and from that moment on, her impact has been undeniable.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES AND SEIZING OPPORTUNITIES
In tech, Jen has often found herself in contrasting realities: sometimes the only woman in the room, other times surrounded by the brightest female minds. At Belkin, gender balance is stronger than industry norms, but Jen remains committed to moving the dial further.
Through Belkin's Women's Network Group, partnerships with organizations like Women in Tech and Kode with Klossy, and active mentorship, Jen champions initiatives designed to open doors for women and girls pursuing STEM careers. Her goal is simple but profound: to create pathways that didn’t exist before and ensure the next generation of women feels empowered to claim their place.
LESSONS LEARNED AND SHARED
For Jen, one of the hardest lessons came in learning to advocate for herself. Early in her career, she subscribed to the belief that hard work alone would lead to recognition. Over time, she real-ized that visibility, negotiation, and self-advocacy are just as critical as talent and effort.
“Success isn’t just about doing the work, it’s about ensuring your contributions are seen and valued,” Jen reflects. “You often only get what you ask for.”
Jen Wei's journey from
Cupertino's tech hub to Vice President of Global Communications at Belkin showcases determination and advocacy for women in STEM, proving that success often lies in asking for what you deserve.
This philosophy resonates even more deeply now as the mother of three daughters. She is determined to model empowerment, confidence, and self-advocacy for them, teaching them that their voices are not just important, they’re essential.
LEADING WITH PURPOSE AT BELKIN
Today, as Vice President of Global Communications and Corporate Development, Jen's role touches nearly every corner of Belkin’s business. From global PR strategy and corporate growth to mergers, acquisitions, and government affairs, she is at the forefront of shaping Belkin’s voice, reputation, and future.
Among her proudest achievements is leading the formation of Belkin’s Executive Sustainability Committee.
Under her leadership, Belkin transitioned from using virgin plastics to post-consumer recycled materials, shipping millions of sustainable products worldwide and cutting hundreds of metric tons of carbon emissions since 2023. It's a milestone that not only underscores Belkin's commitment to innovation but to responsible innovation, where technology and sustainability walk hand in hand.
Outside of Belkin, Jen continues to lend her expertise to industry boards, mentor rising professionals, and champion causes that matter. Her career stands as a testament to what happens when purpose meets passion.
A FINAL WORD TO READERS
With her story, Jen hopes to spark something in others. "If sharing my journey helps even one person realize her full potential," she says, "then every challenge, every hard-earned lesson, and every victory along the way has been worth it."
And with that, Jen Wei doesn't just inspire, she leads, she uplifts, and she transforms the world of tech, one bold story at a time.

ADVERSITY SHAPED THE LEADER I AM TODAY: OLA ELDIB
Growing up in one of Cairo's culturally rich neighborhoods, Ola’s worldview was shaped by a family that championed education as the ultimate equalizer. But for Ola, learning was never just personal. "Education is a force multiplier," she says. "For me, it was always about creating opportunities, not just for myself, but for other women who needed to see what was possible."
Her academic journey led her to the Faculty of Literature, where she majored in French. While not the conventional path to technology, it equipped her with a global perspective and sharpened her communication skills, assets that would soon prove invaluable in her rise through corporate ranks.
SWITCHING LANES
After starting her career at the Ministry of Culture, Ola made a decisive leap into the technology sector, a space that, at the time, was anything but welcoming to women. "Tech was, and still is, a high-stakes, fastpaced industry. But that’s exactly what drew me in," she reflects.
Joining Lenovo wasn’t just a career move; it was a statement. It marked the beginning of a journey defined by constant adaptation, strategic growth, and an unshakable belief in the transformative power of technology.
LEADING THROUGH ADVERSITY
As one of the few women navigating the upper echelons of tech, Ola faced a familiar set of challenges: gender bias, higher standards, and the constant need to prove her worth. But instead of being deterred, she used these hurdles as fuel.
"Challenges are inevitable. What matters is how you respond," she says. "For me, the answer was to outwork, outthink, and outlast every obstacle."
Her resilience didn’t just earn respect, it established her as a leader capable of driving both cultural and commercial change.
Solitude doesn ’ t equal isolation. Sometimes, standing alone is exactly where breakthroughs happen. ”

OLA’S CODE FOR BOLD LEADERSHIP
When it comes to advice for the next generation of women in business, Ola keeps it refreshingly real:
"Stay true to your purpose. Find balance. Lead with integrity. And never mistake solitude for weakness, often, it’s in those moments alone that the biggest breakthroughs are born."
THE LEGACY IN MOTION
As the global tech ecosystem evolves, leaders like Ola Eldib are proving that meaningful progress is driven by those willing to challenge the status quo and lead with conviction.
