Friendly Government is TECNALIA’s solution to connect citizens and their councils. This is a multiplatform social network on which the digital identity of a city is built in a civic manner, integrating the services provided by suppliers and councils, people’s contents, services and contributions, notices, recommendations, offers and other city-related information. Useful, instant, dynamic information in real-time, adapted to the people’s needs and context, which turn their city into a “Friendly City”.
TECNALIA has been researching and collaborating for years with various standardisation bodies to offer a user experience on the internet similar to that of native platform applications. And finally, with the development of HTML5, CSS3 and the Javascript improvements, we have made it possible. PengoJS is an integral solution to create collaborative multimedia content in real-time, oriented to the browser-based videogame sector. A simple development kit that makes it possible to create games and collaborative applications in a safe, quick way.

With Smart Grid Doctor we apply Operational Research techniques and tools to obtain knowledge from the data provided by the Smart Meters. Smart Grid Doctor analyses an enormous amount of heterogeneous data and variables in order to extract consumption patterns and valuable knowledge, to help electric operators to optimise the exploitation of their electric grids.

At TECNALIA we have chosen the use of computer vision technologies because it is the most universal perception mechanism, with traditional applications in the industry and with new applications in an almost unlimited number of work sectors. For over 25 years we have specialised in image capturing systems, in signal improvement and processing systems, noise-robust segmentation and vectorial image processing, as well as extracting relevant features, such as colour, texture and shape. We have combined this skill with that of its application in industry, recycling, biomedicine, food, etc.

SURFIN SURFIN is a patented system (Pat.10382359.7-2204) for the surface quality control of hot processed steel products (> 1000º C) by means of special lighting technologies, optical filtering, image processing and machine learning systems. This system can detect defects at the early stages in the production process while the manufactured product is still incandescent. The SURFIN system automatically detects and classifies roll marks, cracks and other surface defects in products such as bars, tubes, billets, slabs or beam blanks.

The IT industry is producing an ever increasing quantity of software. With shorter technological cycles, increasingly heterogeneous operational environments and more complex use and functioning requirements, the necessary skills to develop a good software product while still meeting deadlines and budgets are becoming more demanding than ever. Our goal is to improve the result by working in the different sub-processes, from the selection of the IT architecture best adapted to the business objectives, to the specific needs of the development life-cycle. There is an ever increasing production of software code. Our objective is to innovate and efficiently produce the best software systems.
This is a tool on Eclipse environment for the industrialisation of software production. A multiplatform, multilanguage core for the design and development of code generators and their deployment in an organisation. The core is completed by productivity extensions for each technological environment (Java, COBOL, etc.). We include optional services for the definition or adaptation of productivity methodologies (agile development oriented industrial paradigm, on product lines, etc.) and its technological transfer to companies implementing the FAST work model.

SW/HW ASSURANCE FOR CRITICAL SYSTEMS
We are more and more dependent upon the smart and networked software applications of transport, energy, health or business-critical systems that involve our daily life. It is essential for these critical SW systems to achieve the maximum reliability and robustness against vulnerabilities and threats, either intentional or due to human errors or HW/SW failures. It is necessary not only that the processes and tools used to generate these systems meet quality standards; it is also necessary to ensure that the product generated is safer and robust. At TECNALIA, we work on the innovation of advanced methods and tools for cost-effective, systems assurance and certification of critical applications and products. We work closely with international industries from the automotive, railway, aerospace and energy domains.

ECUSAFE In the automotive industry, the functional safety of the electric/electronic system is vital and implies legal liability. The standard ISO 26262 defines the state-of-the-art framework for the automotive industry at international level. ECUSAFE is an environment for the design, implementation, validation, verification and conformity assurance with ISO 26262 developed by TECNALIA for the efficient production of Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
There is an increasing number of computing capacities embodied in our environment that depend on the safe functioning of SW/HW systems. At TECNALIA we apply new software engineering branches to ensure the correct development of these critical systems.

Adopting cloud computing implies new business models based on virtualisation, SaaS (Software as a Service) and/or PaaS (Platform as a Service). This is a complex IT environment in which the success factors require the management of multiple business and technological variables. TECNALIA provides its experience on applied research to international collaboration environments in this field for the migration to this technology to be performed with the boosting competitive advantage.

From software supplier to SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE What we propose is to modernize the software provisioning to be offered as Software as a Service (SaaS), through Model Driven Engineering and, in particular, through reverse and forward engineering of legacy applications. Not only technological aspects are taken into account, but also business and organisational aspects. The migration to SaaS is carried out in three phases: analysis, migration and service provision. This approach reduces risk, time and cost in the legacy software migration, as well as any barriers for service companies that would like to take advantage of SaaS and cloud computing technologies and business models.
