FINAL SUBMISION: Narrative & Programming in 1 AO Board 22nd Sept 2020

While doing the 'Programming board, I've learnt to research and understand the product, services and activities needed in my marketplace. It's very important to take note of the priorities, needs, resources, SWOT analysis besides considering the aesthetics. A proposal of spaces to be suggested in my new marketplace has to fulfill the intention I desired, which is to promote printmaking and get more people to know printmaking. The challenging part would be brainstorming the spaces for different target groups and the space design drafts. Nevertheless, I find this project meaningful as a headstart before indulging into designing it into 3D modelling.

ASSIGNMENT 1: NARRATIVE PROGRAMMING

REFLECTION

The first project, Narrative Programming is about putting our problem identification and solutions in a more graphical and visual way to better reach the audience's eyes. Through the 'Narrative' board, I am able to learn how to research and and obtain findings that can assist me in resolving the pragmatic issue of a content that I'm interested in. I've tried printmaking before and I felt moved to keep this art skills going despite the favourity in doing digital art. By clearly understanding the roots of the problems, I challenged myself to put the message I wanted to convey in a black and white abstract pictorial grahical manner which the viewers are able to feel and comprehend the intention behind the narrative board. It's definitely an interesting way to view the issue using a different perspective.

Print-Mused Market, alongisde my slogan "Your Printing Muse" aims to create a customer-friendly market area where not only can you purchase the items and masterpieces, but also learn how to do printmaking, as if killing two birds with one stone. I had also stepped out of my comfort zone in trying different sorts of materials to give a fresh and enchanting impression at first glance. Not to say the composition boards, it's definitely not easy to produce a captivating presentation board with good flow of information and good contrast in order to best represent my hard work throughout the weeks I've spent in this assignment. Thanks to my respective lecturers, I was able to grow and brush up my design and time management skills to try my best and do my best in the learning process.

ASSIGNMENT 3: "SENSE OF PLACE: THE NEW NORM"

REFLECTION

If I were to describe the final project in one word, it would be exhausting. To be honest, I was a bit lost at the beginning because I had no idea how t design flexible stalls for such a huge area, along with built-ins that matched with my programmings. But as time goes by, I slowly picked up the pace by looking at samples and following advices given by my respective lecturers. I even had to redo the whole area in few days because I had to admit that my initial idea was too bland and uninteresting. Thus, I challenged myself to redesign the stalls using the same design language inspired by the wood carving blocks and linocut s that re used in printmaking itself to develop into a series of flexible stalls that are adapted into my spaces in Print- Mused Market.

REFLECTION

I learn how to toggle with animated scenes alongside with some video editing skills using Filmora to add some effects such as Titles, introduction to my narrative programming boards and some mixes of music to attract viewers' attention. It was a fun process since we are able to explore different perspectives inside our interior spaces and not to make our model go to waste except using it for rendering perspectives to be incorporated into our composition board. Personally, I find this approach very interactive and useful since digital presentations play a major role into conveying our ideas and efforts in producing our assignments from head to toe since the pandemic restricts us from meeting face to face. Hence, an animated video presentation gives off a fresh method to showcase what we have done for this semester. At here, I would like to special thank my friends who have selflessly shared the knowledge of using new softwares to an amateur like me and also my respective lecturer who has guided me in giving helpful advices througout the way. Thank you.

ASSIGNMENT 2: ZOOM IN- 'SPACE REPRESENTATION'

Assignment 2 was done after finishing out final project, which is the 3D modelling of our marketplace. For the first time, I learnt to make animation by using Twinmotion, also a new software to me in order to place lightings, render materials and capture angles that are suitable for my video clips with the appropriate and captivating scenes and length.

IADIV has been a challenging but fun module as we get to design our very own marketplace with the issue identified in the first assignment. Since Rekascape is a huge place, I am assigned to designing Zone A whereby I need to design a art and craft market which is Print-Mused Market where customers can drop by to purchase printmaking related materials and art pieces as well as getting started with printmaking art itself. The first asssignment was a bit tricky since we need to convey our ideas in a graphical manner. I waa lost at the first place as I had a hard time identifying a hollistic issue to be handled and the suitable yet creative programmings in order to support my aim in promoting printmaking. Final assignment comes up next and the most memorable part was redoing the whole area design as the previous design was lacking the flair and creative juices in mere few days. Board composition is never an easy task as a lot of amendments were done to make sure the flow of content is smooth and the drawings input are captivating enough to present in the presentation boards. This time, I have stepped out of my comfort zones in editing the Perspective images as I no longer restrict them into rectangular boundaries saved directly from Vray render plug in. It was a fresh approach to put more focus into parts that I wish to highlight in my spaces. Second assignment came last, which we need to create an animated video introducing the various spaces in our market place. This was my first attempt into creating an animation and using a brand new rendering software- Twinmotion that allows quick rendering and better quality of materials'; also capable of doing animation in the fastest way. My video editing skills are also brushed up using Filmora to beautify the animation. Last but not least, I would like to express my gratitude towards my lecturers, friends and families who have helped me grow through the tedious learning process. Thank you.
