Chabad at Midtown Miami
JEWISH CENTER SHUL+CAFÉ+GALLERY+HOME
Chabad at Midtown serves as a spiritual oasis and a “Jewish Space” for people to meet and connect with others who live and work in the vibrant neighborhood of Midtown Miami, the Miami Design District, and the Wynwood Arts District. Our welcoming center provides an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable. Our diverse range of programs are designed for people of all ages – children, students, singles, and families – and are engaging for people of all backgrounds and affiliations.
our mission :
To provide programs and services that enhance Jewish life, build community, and support the material and spiritual needs of all members of the Jewish community, regardless of background or affiliation. To serve individuals and families looking for an anchor, and a non-judgmental, accepting, engaging, personal Jewish experience through which we grow together and learn from one another. To create an open environment, a home away from home for everyone who walks through our doors.

Dear Friends, What is community? It’s about an attitude. A space created more in the heart than in the neighborhood. A shared vision for what we want our future to look like, and making that our present reality. For the last ten years, that’s exactly what we’ve worked to create. Through the programs of Chabad at Midtown Miami and Maor Gallery, we have strived to connect the hearts and minds of neighborhood residents and visitors with a Jewish life that is as vibrant, engaging, and creative as they are. We are proud of the community we have created together. It hasn’t always been easy. One of the greatest challenges has always been the lack of a fixed facility in which to house our programs and serve as a 24/7 community hub. We decided that now, with a major development boom and 4,000 strong and growing Jewish population in Midtown, would be the perfect time to create that space. Through miraculous “coincidence” and the generosity of community members who provided seed funding, we acquired a perfect property last year, and are now ready to begin construction of a beautiful new center for our community. The new center and its programs are designed to fit seamlessly into the Midtown community vibe — modern aesthetics combined with high quality of life and an appreciation for art and culture. It will be a unique Jewish center that fits the lifestyle and needs of our unique community, a place where everyone will feel at home, a place we will all be proud to be part of. We invite you to join us on this journey, and we look forward to celebrating life together in our new home. With Blessings, Rabbi Shmuel and Chana Gopin Directors

In the years that Rabbi Gopin and Chana have been in the Midtown Miami area, they have brought a whole new level of Judaism to the community. Through their wisdom and personal example, they are serving the diverse Jewish community well and making their Jewish center one of special learning and spirituality. — Stewart and Corinne Merkin
Family Family is the cornerstone of the Jewish community. Sharing our rich heritage with our children through our exciting
Children’s Programs, including Hebrew School, Early Childhood Education programs, and Special Events, is a major focus as we expand into the new Chabad at Midtown center.
Community Events, Shabbat Dinners, Holiday Celebrations and informal Gatherings enable us to share the joy of Jewish life with each other, and form the social network and personal friendships that build a strong community.
Outreach Programs are designed to welcome new families to the community and give them an authentic taste of what Judaism has to offer as an engaging and meaningful component of modern life.

I did not grow up in a religiously observant family. In fact, my father was not even Jewish. At Chabad, every Jew is family, regardless of affiliation or level of observance. During my medical education and training I moved around a lot. Fortunately, no matter where you are in the world, there’s probably a Chabad. Our congregation is truly a family, headed up by Rabbi and Rebbetzin Gopin. Not only do they look after our spiritual needs, but they provide a home away from home for members and visitors alike. — Benjamin Mathis, MD
Spirituality For centuries, anywhere our people have found themselves around the world, the synagogue served as the heart and soul of every community. But for a synagogue to be relevant in the 21st Century, it is not sufficient to simply replicate and revive a medieval model. The synagogue — its decor, its services and its programming — must speak to modern sensibilities, and relate to the tastes, interests and lifestyles of its community. Chabad at Midtown has always prided itself on being a “non-synagogue” synagogue. A casual, open atmosphere, a modern design, and an open atmosphere permeate our Community
Shul.
The Classes and Lectures, including our popular women’s
Rosh Chodesh Society, are warm and engaging forums where no topic is off limit, where everyone is encouraged to ask questions and to embark on a journey of personal growth.

As an early pioneer in the development of the Wynwood Arts District, I am proud and pleased to contribute to the creation of a permanent home for the Chabad at Midtown. I have been attending services and programs for over five years. Rabbi Gopin has done an excellent job in building a community here. It definitely is time for the community to have a permanent home and building to be proud of. — David Lombardi, President at Lombardi Properties
Art+Culture Perhaps more than anything else, the new Chabad at Midtown center is a home for our community — a place where everyone feels like part of the family, where the participants will determine what happens inside this space. The new center will feature a casual gathering space in our beautiful
CafĂŠ, making it a place where people can meet, read, work, wait, talk, relax, or just enjoy a coffee and free wifi. It will also serve as a comfortable entry point for those curious about our community and our center. The well-stocked Library will offer contemporary and classic Jewish resources and a quiet setting in which to enjoy them. The Maor
Gallery, which made a big splash in the art-minded
Midtown crowd, will finally find a permanent home in the new center, bringing a dynamic, vibrant experience of Jewish spirituality and art within an urban social milieu, a new dimension for the exploration of the ideas and values that shape our lives.
