Dear readers: If there it is something that I have always liked about art is how easy it looks for the artists to create. Artists are in harmony with their pencils, tablets or brushes, it almost feels as if their tools are an extension of themselves, and with almost hypnotic movements they trap us and make us even believe that we can do it ourselves. But it is not that easy, and that is why we should all get involved, so that art is not forgotten or remains only accessible to a few privileged ones. We should support artists, participate with comments or critiques, we should not just be simple observers, we can all be part of this world ! If you are still not active, get involved, artists will appreciate it and everyone will benefit from it.

“My ultimate goal is to go beyond using just 2D material and incorporate 3D and video into my work. It also means that I’d like to expand my collaboration sphere towards people who do 3D design and motion graphics so that we could create a cross-medium masterpiece” Muerte eterna

“The artist who influenced me the most was definitely Dylan Cole. Although his line of work is matte painting, I view it as an extension of manip genre in general. His pieces, especially various environmental designs, are the prime example of what you can do with very base photos Paper soul

ANNA SPIES http://celairen.deviantart.com www.celairen.com
“Starting with photomanipulation was difficult at the beginning for me, because I came from the traditional media and had mainly painted still life and portraits with chalk or charcoal. But with the help of some artists and a million tutorials I learned fast
-Nick: Celairen; -Age: 24 years old; -Country: Germany; -Studies: Self-taught; -Tools: Photoshop Cs 5.1 and Wacom Bamboo.
Dark Warrior: when I made this image, I wanted to do something very traditional. A typical fantasy theme is a dark warrior and that is what I wanted to portray here. I particularly liked the picturesque part of the work like painting the chains or making his hood.
14
15
Winged One: feathers and wings are very important parts of my works. They give the images a mystic atmosphere. Here I play with the typical theme of angels and play with the idea of vampires as beautiful night rulers.
16
17
“For the future I would like to create more cover art for self publishing authors as well as new music bands, to help them get known and visualize their imagination 18
04
Dush Ravenqueen: this work is definitely inspired by the movie Snow White and the Huntsman. My first attempt in the world of conceptual art, where I connect photo elements with graphic elements.

Pablo Perozini de Prá http://klauzero.deviantart.com
-Nickname: KlauZERO; -Age: 19 years old; -Country: Brazil; -Studies: Self-taught; -Tools: Photoshop.
“I consider myself a surrealist artist, but I would like to try other genres. My main goal is to make people think when they see my work”
LUX - NWO: everything has two sides. Light or a new evil world order that is coming. You choose your side!
21
A Light on the obscure heart of humanity! We only need this: this work is more difficult to explain since it is more abstract, I don’t have a logical explanation. I leave up to you to make your own story.
“My advise for those starting with photomanipulation is to not give up. The path is hard, and at the beginning you will think of quitting, but give yourself time and you will end up learning”
22
CHILD. CUBE. PYRAMID.: all things are connected! The pyramid represents the problem, the cube represents society, and the child represents all innocent people in the world! The monuments and buildings of the future represent the great leaders who command the world and all things for their own profit. The pyramid makes direct reference to the Illuminati Order, an attempt to expose how society follows a cycle prefabricated by money and consumption. A system made by the people and controlled by the people for the profit of the great leaders. Wars, hunger, misery and all the bad things in this world are created by the leaders and sustained by the people, in a perfect mechanism fed by the economy.

“My first serious decision about developing my artistic skills was when I decided to start my art bachelor’s degree and after that go to college to study Fine Arts”
-Country: Spain; -Studies: Fine Arts and Illustration; -Tools: Ink, watercolors and paper.
Night Cat: this is one of my class assignments inspired by one of my many trips around downtown Valencia on a winter afternoon.
24
Traditional Art
Fishing: for this drawing I followed the same procedure as for ‘At the river’, I just simply used a more complex scene.
26
Tiger guy: I made this drawing at a time when I used to take the bus to go to college downtown and from there took a train to go home. The now famous bicycles from Valenbisi (a bicycle system for citizens) that you can see in the background makes this scene very recognizable here in Valencia.
27
Neu: means snow in Castilian. I wanted to paint a snowy landscape using watercolors. The truth is that I have always loved the snowy landscapes painted by Bill Wattersons in Calvin and Hobbes.
“I think that every tool offers different possibilities and I like to explore them separately and individually. For example, it does not make sense to me to make a digital drawing with a watercolor feel if you can do it using real watercolors At the river: this is the first of two drawings where I decided to experiment a bit with new materials. I came up with a scene and applied the new procedure, which in this case was to use walnut ink rather than the more standard ink.
28
The old park: one of those daily life scenes that I like to paint. In this case, the park on the background is based on a park in a town in Teruel where I used to spend my summer holidays some years ago.

soturisi http://soturisi.deviantart.com https://www.facebook.com/SoturisiIllustration
-Age: 19 years old; -Country: Spain; -Studies: Self-taught; -Tools: Watercolours, color pencils and markers.
“I prefer traditional art because I think it represents a bigger challenge, it’s more authentic, it has soul and you can see and touch it, it has texture”
The Orchid: orchids are my favourite flowers because of their beauty, shape and characteristics, those flowers are the ones that most catch my attention. In this illustration I wanted to show my fascination for those beautiful flowers and share this feeling with the rest of the people.
31
Decoloration: I made this illustration just to see how an idea I had days before would look like. The idea was how a drawing would look if a part of it would be left without color as a result of bleaching or any other substance that erases color. In this case the bleach falls on somebody and erases part of her just because the liquid touches her. The intention of this drawing was to express the influence of society in people and how sometimes society erases identities.
Rand portrait sketch: I don’t know what to say about this drawing, this is not even a complete illustration, is just a sketch that I did one day just for fun, the character is mine and his name is Rand.
“I would like to publish my work or dedicate myself professionally to art, I know it will be difficult but I have time and eveything is possible” Let the roses die: how this illustration came about is a bit different. I got the idea for the tittle and I said to myself “I want to make a drawing with this title”. I spent some time without any ideas, until finally one day I did it. I must confess that it is not what I expected, I wanted to make it using another technique but at the end the outcome was this. This time the tools I used ended up deciding how the drawing would look.

“I believe that when you get to that moment where you want to do more and more things is when you start developing your skills. At that moment you are constantly learning, you start setting yourself new and more complex goals, you start challenging yourself. Drawing every day is part of my life and part of my professional and sentimental development as an artist”
Lian: I’m a very sensitive person so that is why I like my work to reflect things that happen to me. Lian is the name of a male character that I created a long time ago for a comic/manga. Lian represents to me our conscious part, that part that says what’s right and what’s wrong. In this image I wanted to portray how sometimes we pass the responsibility to be healthy to other people.

“Traditional art caught my attention because of its magic. The magic comes when you feel that your art comes directly from your hands, when you are in control of what is happening with your tools and canvases, when you can smell it, see it and touch it Aqua: for this work I tried to work with transparencies in the dress. I like translucent fabrics because they seem to fly and look delicate. The majority of my drawings in which I include these kind of clothes are similar. Furthermore this kind of fabric lets me experiment with movement.
42
Angel Aqua: this started as sketch for a commission. There is not much story besides this, in this illustration.
“I think one of the things that I like most about traditional art is that you become one with your work and every day represents a challenge. You always learn something new and you invest a lot of time on it. Sometimes the technique gets the best of you, but when you know that you are on the right path it’s when you start controlling the technique
43
44
Yubiwa: (ゆびわ) is the name of a song from Maaya Sakamoto that I like a lot. This image means nothing special, it’s just an image. The only special thing on this painting is the light on her face, on a spot on her lips.
45
N贸mada: they are small nomad trees. The branches and things that grow on them are the characterization of the daily troubles we carry with us. They consume you and kill you. The plants represent parasites.
46
N贸mada 2: second drawing of the Nomad series.

“I think that traditional and digital media need to be in equilibrium. We can’t despise any media simply because it looks easier, we wont know that until we try it”
Y es mi cántico amoroso: the title refers to the first verses of the hymn of Cantabria.
49
50
Cantabria querida: is part from a series of painting dedicated to the hymn of Cantabria.
“It’s necessary to have some basic art knowledge no matter what media you use. It’s convenient to know things like how local or ambients colors act, and so on. If you can transfer the skills you develop using traditional media, your digital work will benefit from it”
Reaching the real life: is the cover of an album of a rock band from Mexico.

“My brain is like a blender, a lot of different things are mixed together, sometimes nothing happens, but other times good inspiration suddenly appears
2013 card: 2013 is the Year of the Snake according to the Chinese lunar calendar. At the beginning of each year, I have painted an illustration similar to this one to celebrate the New Year.
55
Summon: the summoner summons a monster using blue light, the monster bounces between the pages of a book and papers forming a circle.
56
Hell lady: this illustration is inspired by succubus, but I gave it my own interpretation. She is leaning against the power of magic, floating in the air, with wings at her hips, just like if it was a piece of cloth.
57
“My skills come mostly from school and whatever tutorials I can find on the Internet. Anything is good for learning new skills for my illustrations 58
Sideway 203: a science fiction scene in the rain. In this illustration I wanted to focus on the armor and blue halo on it.

“Five years ago, tired of a work that was supposed to be creative, but wasn’t, and seeing a dark future ahead of me, I decided that I wanted to work for myself and dedicate my life to drawing. I remember that exact moment, while reading a digital art magazine, I realized that I wanted to be the one to make those illustrations”
-Age: 34 years old; -Country: Spain; -Studies: Industrial Design, Graphic Desigh and Illustration; -Tools: Photoshop. .
Luna Negra: is one of my first commission. It took a lot of time to take it to an acceptable level. She’s a villain in a superhero game, like those you could find in Batman or Watchmen.
61
Terra Inc贸gnita: a group of friends invoking a huge fire monster. I played a lot with fire textures, which sped up the process.
62
63
Gigantes vs. Orcos: was one of my first works and sometimes I bring it back just to improve my technique (this is something I usually do). This time I played with some kind of photographic style.
“I have never stopped to think what art is. I suppose that it is the product of any creative process without caring whether it’s good or not. Although nowadays it seems presumptuous to consider yourself as an artist, so just in case, I don’t do it” Chtulhu: the most famous monster from the Lovecraft novels. This is the one I like the most and I enjoyed a lot doing it.

“I try to show a beautiful, gentle side of life. Often brutal scenes have higher popularity. But popularity is not always the most important thing. More important is to give other people a little bit of positive attitude, negativity sometimes comes too easy
68
“A critical analysis of my own work allows me to better understand my mistakes. I believe this is important to grow as an artist, to constantly critically analyze your own work Underwater

“If you are getting started with digital art, my advice to you is to constantly be critical with your own work: what went wrong and why. It requires a lot of work, a lot of tries and sometimes a systematic approach. Have patience, sometimes you have to put a lot of time on a job Old tree

“When I finished fine arts, I became interested in digital art, following some images of Dylan Cole. That point was the key to go into the world of digital drawing, that would be the one that would mark the beginning of my style at a professional level Charlie Steampunk: do you dare to challenge her?
75
76
Forest Spirit: nothing can resist the wisdom of Mother Nature.
“Being an artist is something that I can hardly be separated from. One could almost say it’s a way of living, of observing reality by paying attention to all its colors. You walk down the street looking at the color of things, the transparency or opacity of materials, ...” Valkirye: the goddess Valkyrie goes into battle
“For me drawing is a synonym of creation. To draw is to try and capture our dreams, those images that are trapped in our minds and flow through our hands. Drawing means to speak with images. One could say that we create our own parallel worlds ” 77
Kiss Passion: and then a groan escaped from the embraces of lovers.

“First try traditional media. I think it’s very important to understand that digital media is just another medium, another technique, such as watercolor, pastel or oil. Digital media helps us in many ways but it is always necessary to have a good drawing knowledge base. And what we learn in the traditional technique we can apply to digital and improve on it 81

-Age: 20 years old; -Country: Spain; -Studies: Illustration; -Tools: Photoshop.
“For me an artist (in the pictorial sense) is somebody who needs to draw in order to live, that needs to express and get out that world of ideas and imagination that everybody has inside in order to feel complete. Somebody who strives and fights to succeed and who gives the best of himself. Somebody who enjoys discovering and looking for his own shelter from reality and at the same time offers that shelter to others
La Patinadora: I made this drawing to play with plain colors in an easy and quick style.
83
84
Sedmikrásky: I wanted to practice with some brushes I downloaded for Photoshop. Furthermore I wanted to make a tribute to a surrealist Czech movie that is visually gorgeous.
“I don’t like to use always the same style neither the same technique. I like to try new things, traditionally and digitally, and mix techniques. Anything can be used to draw and experiment with to create new results” Pirata: this illustration was made for a contest held by a Pirate museum but at the end was used as a cover for an online magazine.

Snake’s Bride: illustration about the Russian folk-rock song Melnitsa (The Mill) called Snake’s bride. Dust-like under the canopy, I hear the snake’s voice. Large, golden eyes full of hunger. He is calling me down: “Darling, come down, I will embrace you in thirty-three coils!”.
89
Pterophorus pentadactyla: the task I set myself for this painting was to turn a butterfly into a dragon but still be recognizable. Pterophorus pentadactyla is a butterfly with uncommon looks. It’s wings look like furry fingers. A strange looking dragon for a strange butterfly!
Rainbow: was a strange decision and I’m still not happy with it. It was a fan-art for “My Little Pony” using Alphonse Mucha’s style... I am not the first artist who tried.
“When I finally got my new Wacom Intuos tablet my life suddenly became easy and beautiful. My skills started to grow and one of the key moments was a critique I got on an art-forum. I decided then to turn my hobby into a profession and I am now an art-college student” Death Angel: I often draw spontaneously, just scribble around, to see if I get something interesting. This work is one of those cases, from rush and desire to vent emotions into the picture. A scary two-headed monster, who eats the souls of the dead, but bright and colorful on the other hand. Unusual for the traditional “bad” creature.
90
91
“When I use a pencil I still sometimes reach for an imaginary keyboard. Traditional art has taught me a lot of things: to think about lines and perspective, proportions, clean drawing and to avoid mistakes. But if mistakes happen – accept them. Even masters make mistakes, just never stop learning
92
Mother of dragons: nothing supernatural just a fan-art for the books and TV-series “Game of Thrones. Daeneris was one of my favorite characters for a long time, and I wanted to picture her in all her beauty. And her cute dragons, of course.

95
COM Ino: this was a commission from valvino.deviantart.com. He asked me to draw Ino (from Naruto) in a field of flowers with a little basket and flowers in her hair.
“Images appear in my head without any explanation, influenced by feelings I want to express and pictures I could have seen during the day. Sometimes they appear in dreams just before I wake up. I try to depict them as good as possible but sometimes they turn into something completely different…”
Marry me: I wanted to draw a pretty girl with flowers and this pose came out. As the girl wants to express something, I chose this title.
“Just do what you want and don’t think about complications like how to put layers together or what complicated tools you should use. Spontaneity!”
96
97
... Love you: with this drawing I want to send all my love to those who would watch it.
98
Lover: I don’t often draw couples even if I like these kind of pictures. But this time I wanted to have some softness with a sweet couple. I used simple colors like red, yellow and blue and tried not to shade a lot.

At first it was difficult, but after a few weeks, I started getting a grip on it. I created my first 3d-animation a year after starting learning the program, so I worked kind of hard to establish my skills”
-Nickname: Darkk1; -Country: Finland; -Studies: Self-taught; -Tools: 3dsmax, Mudbox and After Effects.

Marshland Sovereign: my newest piece so far, base-mesh done in 3dsmax. Sculpted and textured in mudbox. Haven’t done that much sculpting so far, but after finishing this piece, I’m eager to do more.
If you are planning to start doing 3d, just pick a program you feel comfortable with. Most people start by using blender, which is great because it’s free, and there are also a huge amount of tutorials available. But in the end, it doesn’t matter what 3d-software you use. You can do awesome stuff with anything nowadays”

SSHHH: this photo is very similar to how I used to make photos in Second Life - just a closeup of a cute girl, doing something interesting.
111
“Right now, I’m really enjoying Daz Studio. It is very much like having the photo studio I’ve always wanted, but without any of the limitations you’d find in an actual real life studio, and for much less the cost of owning/renting any photographic equipment” BENEVOLENCE: I had an idea where I wanted to have a fallen angel that finds herself in the forest, but she could also be a faery. I left it up to the viewer to decide.
112
GYNOID NICOLE: normally, you see robots (or gynoids - female robots) with a chrome skin, very shiny almost like a mirror. I wanted to have a beautiful robot, but with skin that looked metalic, but at the same time smooth and soft and not cold and sharp like metal usually is. I found out that the easiest (maybe not the best) way to do that is by not having so many reflections on the metal skin - or at least make the reflections darker.
“The best program to start with is Daz Studio because it makes things incredibly easy. It is very easy to do simple things, but also it allows artists to do somewhat more complicated things without necessarily becoming an obstacle to the creation process
113
DESERT PRINCESS: I had been wanting to do some sort of desert scene for a while, and really convey heat when you see it. Like you can feel how hot it is, with the sand and the sun. I had tried this with a more light skinned girl, but it just didn’t seem right - she had to have a nice tan.
114
SACRAMENT: this is almost the same promotional photo from where I obtained the model, but I wanted to have a figure in the scene to convey scale - so the viewer could feel they are in the scene, looking down.
