La ciudad se va de compras Conocer a una ciudad es mucho más que recorrer sus atracciones turísticas, sentarse a la mesa de los resturantes de moda o descubrir el amanecer en la discoteca donde se da cita la gente más linda. Pasarse una tarde caminando sus centros comerciales y haciendo un poco de shopping es una actividad indispensable para completar la experiencia, pues no sólo es una excelente forma de conocer a la gente de cada lugar, sino que son nuestras compras los recuerdos que llevamos a casa, y que nos hacen recordar a diario el sabor de cada ciudad. Durante muchos años, los marabinos nos embriagamos de este placer, sólo que lamentablemente hacerlo en casa era difícil. Cada vacación o fin de semana largo era una excusa para emigrar a otras ciudades o países, en una suerte de expedición de compras, que para entonces era la única forma de estar en contacto con las grandes marcas que ofrecía el mercado. Pero es gratificante constatar que la realidad de hoy es distinta. Dentro del crecimiento que ha visto Maracaibo en las últimas décadas, uno de los sectores que más se ha desarrollado es el comercial. Atrás quedaron los días cuando el Costa Verde era la única posibilidad de conseguir alguna prenda o accesorio acorde con las últimas tendencias o avalado por la firma de algún diseñador. Hoy, contamos con grandes malls, que albergan marcas internacionales, con todas las comodidades que estos centros integrales de consumo representan. De esa reflexión nació Tendencia Soho. El nombre evoca a la gran capital del mundo, Nueva York, representada en uno de sus vecindarios más emblemáticos. Un espacio urbano donde se concentran artistas que viven en lofts espaciosos o edificios icónicos de la arquitectura moderna, cerca del downtown. Una zona que universalmente es conocida por ser uno de los núcleos económicos mas grandes de el mundo. En Tendencia así vemos a Maracaibo; así queremos verla. Mas no como quien no quiere ver su realidad, sino como quien se adelanta a lo que inequívocamente llegará a ser, gracias al talento de empresarios que, pese a la tensa coyuntura política no aceptan otra posibilidad mas que seguir confiando en este país lleno de oportunidades. Mientras eso siga sucediendo, la ciudad seguirá creciendo, acercándose cada día más al momento cuando los turistas del mundo elijan este destino como un lugar ideal para conocer, y ¿por qué no?, también para hacer algunas compras…

The city goes shopping To know a city is a lot more than to visit it’s main tourist attractions, sit at the table of the most popular restaurants, or to stay out in a bar with the hippest people, until the sun comes up. Spending the afternoon walking thru the city’s malls and shopping, is a necessary activity to complete your experience. It’s not only a great way to meet different people, but to take home samplings that remind us of the flavor from each city. For many years, “marabinos” got caught up in with this pleasurable experience, which was hard to do back at home. Every vacation or long weekend, was an excuse to migrate to other cities or countries in an expedition of fortunate purchases. At that time, it was the only way to keep up with the greatest brands that the market had to offer. It’s great to know that today’s reality is another one. Within the growth that Maracaibo has seen in the last decades, one of the areas that has seen the biggest expansion, is retail. Long gone are the days when Costa Verde was the only place where you were able to get a clothing article or accessory from the latest trends or designer makes. Today, we have bigger malls that carry international brands, as well as all of the other offerings these consumption centers provide. Tendencia Soho came to life from this thought process. The name evokes the great capital of the world, New York, represented in one of it’s most exceptional neighborhoods. An urban space where an assembly of artists live, close to downtown, in spacious lofts or iconic buildings of modern architecture. An area universally known for being one of the biggest economic centers of the world. At Tendencia, this is how we see Maracaibo; that’s how we want to see her. Not as people in denial like to see things, but as the greatness it will become. Thanks to the talent and vision of business people that given the political bottle necks, have not accepted anything less that the great opportunities this country has to offer. As long as this development continues, the city will keep growing, getting closer to the day when tourists from around the world, choose this destination as an ideal place to get to know. And why not? To also go shopping!
