為什麼而設計? What do I design for? For making the world a better place. Whatever I design, I hope to contribute myself to making the world with goodness. I wish myself to treasure each second and each piece of resource, be a man with a generous heart but no arrogance, in the process of design, and in my life.

Kitchen

Birdy

| kitchenware design

As different works conducted in kitchens, there comes danger, too. People have their first own house at the age from 25 to 35 , and everything seems to be so exciting but unfamiliar to them, such as cooking themselves, taking care of their own room, and so on. Cooking, in the case, is the earliest and most frequent problem they face. Therefore, we want to give them a healthy and safe kitchen to support them in this very time in their life.

User Study | questionnaire and statistics

Target User People nowadays prone to achieve their career first and get married later, therefore, we set our target users as people who are around 25 to 35, living alone or with one person. While no one takes care of them, we do.

Questionnaire and Statistics With questionnaires, we first got 65 target users' personal profiles, lifestyles, eating habits and thought about kitchen. Our target users work from 8:00 to 18:00, are not pretty good at cooking, and often eat out. They care about cleaness, safety more than lampblack and storage. They do care more about sink and workbench in the kitchen.

Persona Three types of users are made into our personas, including DINKS, single, and couple. Even though they have different life style, they all take cooking as a more healthy choice than eating out. However, they all cook less than 3 days a week at the same time. On the other hand, we can see Taiwanese people's main habits are traveling and gourmeting, and they tend to have comfortable lives with optimistic personalities.

Insight of Persona and Statistics Office Hour | 8:00-18:00 / They tend to buy the dinner after works. / Considering about time, the procedure of a meal wouldn't be long. / Eat out almost every meal.

Eat out | always / Things in the kitchen might not be used for a long time. / They might pack the finished food back to home. / They might buy something able to storage for long instead of fresh food.

Life Style / Leisure

1. Traveling and gourmet tasting 2. Sports

Cooking | seldom / Obvious partitions of things which is often taken, and the rest in the fridge. / Often cook the long-storage food. / Only basic facilities in the kitchen. / The sink is highly emphasized. / Storage for leftover and raw food is necessary.

Cooking Skill | minimal#

# To have basic knowladge of cooking but lack of experiences,

/ Do simple works in the kitchen. / Unfamiliar with the cooking process. / Low variance and quantity of the ingredients. / Don't know where to put things when cooking.

Thoughts of Kitchen / Life Goal

1. Stay healthy 2. Self-fulfilling

HTA The broken line in the picture is the relationship between time and movement (moving between the workbench, sink, island, shelf, oven an refrigerator). The shapes under the line are things on the workbench. The words highlighted in red show are failures :

/ Don't know where to put the knives. / Fail to clean up kitchen waste. / Can't find a place to put food because there is too much stuff on the workbench. / Keep moving the kitchen waste bin. Also, she dropped out much leftover when dumping the waste.

/ Keep taking the sauce bottle with dirty and oily hand.

Final Sketch

Considering of a joyful experience, we design a bird-shaped bottle with special ball switch.

16 Birdy

We used to design sauce bottles, salt jar, and pepper jar. However, due to the lack of time, we have to give up the salt jar and pepper jar. And focus on creating a totally new mechanism of sauce bottle. The challenge is to creat a simple ball as a functional switch of a bottle.

17

Models & Tests | Models of the Bottle

We printed the ball and tested it with different shapes of bottles to search for the most comfortable shape for hands. The folllowings are problems we want to solve: 1) How to make it "comfortable" to control the ball on the bottle? 2) How to let the flow end with no sauce dropping out of the bottle?

Lamp

YM

| lamp design

Lamp design is a project one year ago. "Y" represents you, as a user, while "M" is me, as a designer. I designed human-friendly angles of the pentagonal base with my style. With the megnets inside, the lighting tube seems to stand on the base without any support. And what's more interesting is that the light is flexible to change it's angle and hight! However, there are still some problems......

structure

Problems of the fine model are: 1) Lack of the connection between the shapes of the tube and base. 2) Lack of the consideration of the wire and details. 3) Hard to storage in a store. 4) The structure is weak and the tube is easy to fall. These problems are redesigned by changing the materials, moving out some angles of the base and adding some tips.

35

Final Product | 3D models

Final product includes the symmetrical base and tube. Symmetrical base help the storage more easy. Moreover, there is a little piece of metal, which helps set the tube, on the wood base. Thee tube can be unloaded in to three pieces. The notches on the tube are to choke on the piece of metal on the base.

imMEDiate is a system that enhances the emergency efficiency, people’s health awareness, and strengthen relationships. Through combining ambulance drones, wearable devices and network, imMEDiate wants to create a community with no more late ambulance and ignorance, but more connection and love.

40 imMEDiate

Emergency System A system consists of emergency equipment stations and mini drones. Drones carries equipments from the nearest station to the spot, so the rescue can start before the ambulance comes.

Community Reunion A wearable device senses people's health data and inform the others for fear of emergency. In this way, we can cover those who are alone and hurt.

Health Awareness A network of health awareness to let people knows others' health conditions. By comparing to the other'sThey can know if they are healthy or not.

Security Inhancement The collective data from the system can provide ideas of which areas have more emergencies that might need healthcare support.

Caring Area Choose three areas to get the first physical information from the APP.

Area Index Check the health indexes of areas. Why isn't my area as healthy as the others?

Self Location On this page, we can see where we are and people who need our help.

Front Page These page shows indexes of ourselves and people surrounding. Let’s see how healthy we are!

Self Data Check our body data and compare it to the world. With these numbers, we are more awared of our health.

Trusted Friends Invite people you care to help them with their health.

Fresh Wrap

Do you eat fresh? Let Fresh Wrap tell you! Taipei International Design Award 2015 distinction / industrial design category 43

44 Fresh Wrap

Afraid of eating another out-dated food? Fresh Wrap can keep you from it! FreshWrap is a normal wrap with labels and a long sticker on it. The label contains oxalic acid, which helps change the pattern from white logo to black cross with time. Therefore, Freshpwrap can tell us how long we store the food. Just easily tear off the air-isolated sticker and put the wrap on the food. Five days later, the label will turn into a big black cross to warn us!
