Kovacevic and Put triumph at European 14 & Under Championships
157 players from 40 Tennis Europe member nations were in Most, Czechia, from 9-16 September to take part in the 48th edition of the European 14 & Under Championships
Tea Kovacevic of Bosnia & Herzegovina and Stan Put of the Netherlands were the eventual winners, following in the footsteps of world #1s including Novak Djokovic, Mats Wilander, Iga Swiatek and Martina Hingis in claiming the most prodigious and prestigious of titles on the Junior Tour .
Both the boy’s and girls’ finalists had met just once before, with the higher ranked player having come out on top on both occasions Put and his opponent Scott Watson met way back at the end of 2022, when the Brit scored a 6-3 7-6 win at the 12 & Under Festival
Kovacevic and Jana Kovackova encountered each other more recently, at the Super Category tournament in Maia earlier this year On that occasion the Czech won an easy first set before being pushed hard for a 6-0 7-6 win
All four players have come a long way since those meetings though While Kovackova has been ranked #1 in the Race to Monte-Carlo (where she is the defending champion) for most of the year, nobody has won more Tour titles this season than Kovacevic, who has accumulated 9 across two age categories, and enjoyed a fruitful place on the ITF/Tennis Europe Touring Team this summer
The girls’ final was a memorable battle, as one might expect from arguably the two best players on the Junior Tour right now The first set was as tight as can be, with the home player eventually edging a 16-point tie break to claim the advantage . Kovacevic steeled herself for what was to be a long battle (the match lasted 2 hours 22 minutes), breaking early in the second set and maintaining her advantage to level 6-4
The Bosnian scored a glorious passing shot winner to break at the start of the third set before racing to establish a 5-1 lead Victory looked certain until Kovackova found another gear, serving a masterclass of deft changes of pace and clever angles to recover to 4-5 It was at that point that Kovacevic put a stop to the comeback, breaking the Czech’s serve to secure the title and etch her name into the history books as the first Bosnian ever to win a European 14 & Under title
Until Most, Stan Put’s greatest moment came in Milan this year, when he announced his presence among the elite players by winning the prestigious Avvenire titles in singles and doubles . Meanwhile, Scott Watson’s most
The boy’s final finished just 30 seconds after the girls, with a very similar storyline Put made a dream start to the match, wasting no time in clinching the first set without the loss of a game against an out-of-sorts Watson Having survived several three-set scares throughout the week, the Brit steadied his nerves and made a characteristically gritty comeback, breaking at the start of the second set and holding on to level the match at 0-6 6-4
The final set saw both players attempting to outfox their opponents, with drop shots and lobs employed with increasing frequency Put made excellent use of his variety, executing a number of killer drop shots to race to a 5-1 lead Watson had shown several times during the week that he is never more dangerous than when playing from behind, and once again managed to raise his game to break, winning three consecutive games to reach 4-5
recent triumph was winning singles and doubles at the Category 1 Dr Oetker Trophy in Bucharest

Kovacevic and Put triumph at European 14 & Under Championships
Under pressure, Put began the tenth game with a double fault as he served for the match for a second time, raising British hopes of another break If he felt any nerves though, they were not on show, as Stan rolled off several confident points to hold serve, falling to the ground with joy as he became the second Dutch winner of the boys’ title in the last three years, following in the footsteps of 2022 champion Thijs Boogaard
The girl’s doubles final saw some consolation for Kovackova, who returned to court alongside Katerina Zajickova for her second match of the day The home pair refused to cede gold to Austria’s Lea Haider-Maurer and Anna Pircher, securing victory in just over an hour after a 7-5 6-3 match, which was played indoors due to heavy rain Kovackova thus falls just shy of emulating sister Alena, who claimed both singles and doubles golds in 2022, nonetheless it’s an astonishing – and unprecedented -
achievement for two siblings to claim three medals in the same event
They celebrated alongside Pavel Dufek & Matyas Marsik, who claimed the boys’ doubles gold a day earlier when they clinched a tense three-set thriller over Spain’s Izan Banares Lasala & Toni Escarda Piñeiro . In the process they became the third Czech pair to win the boys’ doubles title in the past four years .
Both singles champions automatically qualify to compete at the season-ending Tennis Europe Junior Masters in Monte-Carlo next month Kovacevic is in the unique position of leading the 16 & Under Race Rankings, and will therefore be able to choose which age category she competes in

Giambelli & Alexandrescou dominate to win European 16 & Under titles
Carla Giambelli and Yannick Alexandrescou are Europe’s new 16 & Under champions after a memorable edition of the tournament in Parma, Italy
Hosted by the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) for a second year, the event has a unique format, with the early rounds showcased across four of the city’s prestigious tennis clubs (TC Parma, TC President, Circolo del Castellazzo & Sporting Club Parma), before moving exclusively to TC President from the Thursday
Yannick Alexandrescou (ROU) won the boys’ singles title after a resounding win over tournament revelation Tito Chavez (ESP), while Carla Giambelli (ITA) celebrated a rare double win by claiming the singles and doubles gold medals In the singles final, she weathered some determined resistance from Slovakia’s Sona Depesova to win 7-6(4) 7-6(6) . Meanwhile, it was smoother sailing for Alexandrescou who beat Chavez 6-2 6-1
Despite being broken in the very first game, the Romanian dominated and was never really troubled by Chavez who had taken out three seeds en route to the final Alexandrescou thus becomes the third Romanian boy to win this event, and the first since 1990 After the match, he charmed the crowd, saying, “What a week, what a day! I love Parma! I was here last year but things didn’t turn out so good then, now I’m so happy I got to play here again and finally win! This place is amazing - the courts, the food, I love it! I’d love to come back next year but unfortunately, I can’t ” The young Romanian has had plenty of practice with acceptance speeches this year, having won six ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors prior to lifting the trophy in Parma
Giambelli needed two tie-breaks to get past Depesova, but after two hours was finally able to etch her name in the history books as the third Italian girl to conquer Europe in this age category, following in the footsteps of Federica Bonsignori (1983) and Alice Canepa (1994) When it was her turn to speak in front of her home crowd, she could not hide her delight, “I’m so, so happy! It was a really tough match, I didn’t play my best tennis, but at least I won! I want to thank everyone for their support and I hope to win a lot of more tournaments! This feeling is great!”
Late the previous evening, Giambelli had also secured the doubles gold, partnering with Fabiola Marino Enjoying the support of the home crowd, they edged Romania’s Maia Ilinca Burcescu & Giulia Safina Popa 6-4 5-7 [1210] . Tito Chavez and Eudald Gonzalez claimed the boys’
doubles gold for Spain in the final against Hryhorii Kartavenko & Dmytro Vterkovskyi of Ukraine, and again the match went down to the wire . In the end it was the Spaniards who prevailed 6-2 3-6 10-7, keeping their perfect record of having won match tie breaks in all five of their matches In fact, both winning teams saved match points on the way to victory, the girls did so in the final, and the boys in an epic 16-14 win over Andreas Messis & Alkis Michalakopoulos (GRE) in Round 2
Bronze medals were shared amongst various nations, with spoils in the girls’ doubles going to Noelia Manta & Sarina Schnyder (SUI) and Charo Esquiva & Mireia Sagristá (ESP), while the boys’ recipients were Oliver Majdandzic & Christopher Thies (GER) and Mark Becirovic Novak & Ziga Sesko (SLO) In the boys’ singles the bronze medals went to Kaan Işik Koşaner (TUR) and Thilo Behrmann (AUT). Fabiola Marino (ITA) and Tiana Tian Deng (SWE) won the bronze in the girls’ singles .
Among the VIP visitors to Parma was Paolo Lorenzi, the former ATP #33, now Director of the Internazionali

BNL d’Italia ATP1000/WTA1000 event at Rome’s Foro Italico, which this year incorporated a Junior Tour 16 & Under tournament giving young players the chance to compete on the biggest of stages alongside top professionals Lorenzi praised the work of the organisers for the unique format in Parma and stressed the importance of junior tennis for the FITP
“For the FITP young people remain a priority, as demonstrated by the organization of the European Championships and the novelty of the Internazionali’s Under 16 event To continue to have top athletes in the coming years, it is essential to invest in new talents, also through competitions In Parma I found a great atmosphere and a rare reality: I saw four clubs with incredible structures,
which collaborated with each other for the success of these European Championships . I would call it an innovative project, to be repeated ”
Tennis Europe would like to extend particular thanks to the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) for the organisation of the tournament, which saw live streaming and scoring on offer throughout the week in association with Crionet In all, 149 players from 39 member nations were in action

Kostovic and Preda claim MEHRLEBEN - U18 European Junior Championships powered
The town of Oberpullendorf in the Burgenland Region of Austria played host to the European 18 & Under Championships during the week of the 16-22 September, which saw 128 players from 35 member nations in action
In the girls’ final, Teodora Kostovic (SRB) lived up to her status as the top seed and favorite for the title, delivering a masterful performance against Czech contender Alena Kovackova Kostovic dominated with precision and control, committing only a handful of unforced errors In just 54 minutes, she secured the gold 6-1 6-0 over Kovackova who, it must be said, has come a long way from having won the 14&U European Junior Championships just two short years ago
After a disappointing result by her standards in last year’s 16 & Under event in Parma, Kostovic was back and hungrier than ever, with a clear goal from the outset: “I lost last year in Italy and that hurt me a lot so I went back and I worked harder to improve - I’m very proud of myself and I played 100% from the first round and I was really motivated for this match ”
Romania’s Luca Preda was also dominant in his final against Italy’s Jacopo Vasami, securing Romania’s first gold medal of the event and first ever win in the 18 & Under boys’ singles competition . With powerful groundstrokes and strategic play, Preda triumphed 6-3 6-1, leaving no

doubt about his superiority on the court He said, “It feels great I’m not gonna lie! I am very happy; it was a tough tournament Today I feel like I served really well My baseline game was very solid and my return as well ”
While Kostovic and her coach savoured the win and enjoyed a post-match celebratory splash in the pool Rafa Nadal-style, Preda had to maintain his focus and take

the momentum of his singles victory back onto the same court for the doubles final Playing with Stefan Haita, the Romanian pair faced a tough challenge from top seed Izan Alamazan Valiente & Andres Santamarta Roig The Spanish duo led for most of the first set and even served for the title, but Preda & Haita made a remarkable comeback and won the set With their confidence boosted, the Romanians took full control in the second set, winning 7-6 6-1 and securing a second gold medal for Romania .
There was almost a third gold for Romania in the girls’ doubles, but the triple win was just slightly out of reach In an enthralling final, Brit Du Pree & Joy De Zeeuw of the
Netherlands started strong, taking control of the match early on and comfortably securing the first set 6-2 . However, the second set was an entirely different story, as Romanians Elena Bertea & Diana Simionescu found their rhythm and fought back fiercely At 6-5, the Romanians managed to break their opponents’ at a critical moment, clinching the set 7-5 and forcing the match into a tiebreak
With Du Pree & De Zeeuw racing ahead to a 9-5 lead, it looked like they would quickly win the match But Bertea & Simionescu saved four consecutive match points to keep their hopes alive The tension on the court was palpable but Du Pree & De Zeeuw ultimately wrapped up

Tennis Europe would like to thank the Austrian Tennis Federation, Burgenland Tennis Association, Sports Hotel Kurz
and the event sponsors for the flawless organisation of the tournament Players were treated to plenty of off-court fun with access to a bowling alley, arcade games, indoor sports and go-karts at their accommodation Furthermore, there was plenty of camaraderie on display and socializing amongst the nations with a wonderful spirit in the air, making this year’s event a truly memorable one indeed

European Masters Champions crowned in Veli Losinj
The European Masters Championships returned to Veli Losinj in Croatia for a third and final occasion in early June, when 241 players from 35 countries battled it out for the prestigious titles at the Ljubicic Tennis Academy
Singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles worth 1000 ITF World Tennis Masters Tour ranking points were on offer for age groups ranging from 30+ to 80+, with a number of surprises and notable winners emerging during the course of the week:
Matias Valdes made the perfect debut in the competition He ensured his long trip from Chile was a golden one by beating defending champion Klaus Moser in the final of the Men’s 30 competition
World #1 Clemens Weinhandl (AUT) claimed his third European title Having finished as runner-up last year, he claimed the Men’s 50s title in style, losing just five games on route to the final
Three ladies managed to defend their titles from 2023: Spain’s Almudena Sanz-Llaneza Fernandez (30+), Valentina Padula of Italy (50+) and Liselot Prechtel of the Netherlands (60+)
Padula’s title defence was particularly authoritative, losing just nine games in total during her three straight set wins
Liselot Prechtel is fast becoming a Championships legend With her win, she racked up a third consecutive W60 title, and eighth European title overall since 2012
Two unseeded Italians met in the women’s 55+ final, with Sabrina Cantoni claiming a first European title over Cristina Giordani The Women’s 65 event saw two Swedes meet in the final, with Vladimira Andersson claiming a first European title
Arguably the most international of draws was the Mens 65, whose 31 players came from 17 nations and four continents The eventual winner was Britain’s Martin Cornish, who went one better than last year’s silver medal, recovering from a 1-6 first set loss to outlast Australian opponent Wayne Pascoe .
German players once again dominated the men’s events in general, claiming four titles: Thomas Burgemeister (M40), Carsten Groeger (M45), Bernd Ruck (M60) and Peter Adrigan (M80) Adrigan returned to the winners’ circle having last claimed gold in 2016

Italian teams dominate at European Beach Tennis Championships
Italian teams once again dominated Europe’s premier Beach Tennis event, sweeping five of the six available gold and silver medals on the final day of action in Crete
If any player can be said to have achieved living legend status at the Championships, it’s Giulia Gasparri She extended her incredible run of success at the tournament by defending her title yet again, marking a fifth consecutive gold medal and ninth consecutive appearance in the final . Gasparri’s last four titles had been with different partners, but on this occasion she teamed up again with her 2021 partner, Ninni Valentini as second seeds
Cruising through the draw for the loss of just eleven games in four matches, an all-Italian final was set against #1 seeds Greta Giusti & Nicole Nobile
The final score was an exact repeat of that 2021 final, with Gasparri & Valentini winning 6-2 6-2 The defeat marked a fifth consecutive silver medal for Nobile
The defending men’s champion Nicolas Gianotti of France fell just short of emulating Gasparri, coming within a few points of defending his title Instead, Italy claimed another gold as Tommaso Giovannini & Mattia Spoto held their nerve to come out on top
The Italians held the lead throughout the first set but Gianotti & partner Paul Gotarda earned the crucial mini-break early in the deciding game, holding on to secure a one set advantage, 7-4
Spurred into a more aggressive stance, the Italian team broke to level the match with a 6-4 second set . They carried their momentum into the match tie break, clinching the match on the first of their six match points
Mens doubles champions Tommaso Giovannini & Mattia Spoto (ITA).
Women’s doubles champions Giulia Gasparri & Ninny Valentini (ITA).
Italian teams dominate at European Beach Tennis Championships
The win marks a first European title for Giovannini, and second for Spoto, who won in 2021 and claimed silver in 2022 Gianotti reached the final for a fourth consecutive year and adds a second silver to his two golds Currently sharing the #3 ITF Beach Tennis ranking spot, Spoto will now surely move above his French rival
With the stage set for an exciting mixed doubles final and Italy already certain of a gold medal sweep, the question on everyone’s lips was: who would win two titles?
With Spoto and Gasparri on opposing teams (playing with Nobile and Giovannini respectively), one player would leave Greece as champion in two categories
The final turned out to be surprisingly one sided though, as Gasparri added a second mixed to her immense tally of EBTC titles, having previously won in 2018 For Giovannini, the mixed runner-up in 2019, it was also his second European title of the day
Asked how she felt about her achievements, Gasparri told us, “Certainly it’s an honour for me to be the most successful player in the history of the European Championship, it always was a goal for me to ‘bring home’ some titles and when this happens with the national team it makes me even more proud I hope to be here again next year, but
at the same time I hope to be an inspiration for the next generation ”

Introducing Dunlop’s European Scouting Program
My name is Olivier Lesimple, and I lead the European Junior Scouting Program for Dunlop
As many of you already know, Dunlop has a strong legacy in tennis, with a long-standing tradition of excellence in tennis equipment—whether it’s racquets, strings, or more .
In recent years, our company has grown in many areas, but we’ve placed a special focus on expanding our presence in the junior tennis scene . The goal of our European Junior Scouting Program is to discover and support the next generation of tennis champions To achieve this, we’ve built a team of scouts across several countries who attend local events I also travel extensively across Europe, visiting tournaments to find young talents who have the potential to become future stars of our sport
My office is based at the Mouratoglou Academy, one of the biggest hubs for young tennis players in the world Every year, as part of our Junior Scouting Program, we invite our youngest sponsored players to spend a week at the academy and experience all the amazing things it has to offer This is also a fantastic opportunity for us to get to know these players better and build stronger relationships with them and their families
Thanks to our collaboration with two of the world’s largest tennis academies—IMG in the USA and MTA in Europe—Dunlop has made a strong comeback in recent years Anyone attending junior tournaments today would likely notice the growing presence of Dunlop racquets and gear on the courts!
We’ve significantly increased our investment in youth programs, and it’s exciting to see more and more junior players choosing Dunlop racquets and strings . It’s still early days, but we’re already starting to see the results of our hard work . In 2023, for example, Mark Ceban won the prestigious LPA in Tarbes, showcasing the strength of our program
It’s important to emphasize that our scouting program isn’t just about finding players with impressive tennis
skills . We look for individuals with great values—those who embody the spirit of tennis, show dedication, sportsmanship, and passion for the game We are seeking ambassadors of our brand
Sponsorship at Dunlop means more than just providing equipment—it’s about becoming part of a supportive family that is dedicated to the growth and success of each player We take pride in offering our sponsored athletes the best service and support, helping them reach their full potential and walking alongside them on their journey
Just like our players, Dunlop has big ambitions, and I’m truly excited about what the future holds
To all the young athletes out there: keep working hard, stay passionate, and maybe one day, I’ll see you on the court with a Dunlop racquet in hand!
Let’s continue to grow and enjoy the sport we all love ”**
Slovakia and Ukraine win historic 12 & Under Summer Cups by Dunlop titles
In a story of contrasts, the Slovakian boys and the Ukrainian girls have won this year’s 12&U Summer Cups by Dunlop In the final chapter of this year’s European junior team competition, both teams have written history for very different reasons
BOYS’ FINAL ROUNDS - Dijon, France
Slovakia’s Road to the title
Round Robin: d. Bulgaria 3-0 | d. Italy 2-1 | d. Switzerland 2-0
Final Rounds: d. France 3-0
With three wins in the bag, Slovakia came through as undisputed group winners They didn’t have it all their own way, however, with the tie against Italy going to the wire in a live doubles match In the final, after a nail-biting comeback in the first tie (Matteo Sanson outlasted Tristan Ducros 5-7 7-6(2) 6-4), it was plain sailing
HIGHLIGHTS
For the Slovakian boys this is the first ever win, and a debut appearance in the final, since the event began in 2007. On the other hand, it was Ukraine’s sixth final appearance and fourth win, adding to the titles the team won in 2015, 2009 and 2008.
Slovakia survived a couple of close encounters in their qualifying group round-robin matches with wins over Germany (2-1), Austria (3-0) and Great Britain (2-1) before a 3-0 win over second-placed Bosnia & Herzegovina in the play-off to secure a spot in the final.
In contrast, Ukraine breezed past round-robin rivals Netherlands, Spain, and Bosnia & Herzegovina without the loss of a match and repeated this with a 2-0 win over Poland in the play-off to clinch their spot in the final with a dominating performance at the qualifying rounds.
However, In the final rounds, it was another tale of opposing fates as the Slovakian boys sailed along undefeated in all their ties. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian girls emerged from a tight group in which they, Estonia and Slovakia all went 2-1 in terms of wins and losses.
for the Slovaks, who secured the trophy when Martin Adamca held off a second set fightback to beat Arthur Salafa 6-1 7-5 .
The dead doubles match saw Slovakia confirm a 3/0 final score, as Adamca & Lubos Husenica recovered from a set down to beat Ducros and Imanol Gosset 3-5 4-1 10-5
GIRLS’ FINAL ROUNDS - Ajaccio, France
Ukraine’s Road to the title
Round Robin: : lost to Slovakia 1-2 | d. Estonia 3-0 | d. Germany 2-1
Final Rounds: d. Croatia 2-1
Slovakia and Ukraine win historic 12 & Under Summer Cups by Dunlop titles
As mentioned, it went down to the wire on the last day of the round-robin matches with three teams tied at 2 wins and 1 loss each Estonia’s 0-3 loss to Ukraine hurt them, but their 2-1 win over Slovakia tipped the scales in favour of Ukraine who went through to face Croatia, who had advanced from a similarly tight Group B . In the final, the Ukrainians sealed the deal with two singles wins to put the tie out of the reach of their opponents Anna Kuznetsova lost just five games to beat Korana Barisic, while Mariia Kocherzhenko sealed the victory with a 6-4 6-4 win over Ana Marija Rebic The Croats later salvaged some pride, comfortably winning the doubles rubber

Spain and Czechia win 14 & Under Summer Cups titles
Spain has won the 14&U boys’ Copa del Sol, beating Great Britain 2-0 in the final at home in Valencia Meanwhile in Loano (ITA), Czechia won their fifth Europa Cup in a 2-1 win over Austria, clinching the title in a nail-biting doubles championship tiebreak
It was Spain’s sixth title overall adding to their wins in 2017, 2015, 2012, 2002 and 1991 The Brits, for their part, were making only their second appearance in a final - the first was when they took the title back in 1995 Despite the loss, it has been an outstanding year for Team GB who also finished as runner-up at the Winter Cups
The Czech girls add to the four titles they previously won at this event in 2022, 2018, 2013 and 1999 as well as a further five including the wins as part of Czechoslovakia in 1993, 1992, 1990, 1989 and 1987 On a roll this year, the Czechs collect another team trophy to go with the Winter Cups title they won back in February

Coming into the Summer Cups, the British looked to be the hot favourites on paper . Eric Lorimer, European #1 and Race to Monte-Carlo leader, had just posted a resounding Category 1 win in London, albeit on grass, a couple of weeks prior Also in London, Niall Pickerd-Barua was part of the winning doubles combo that took the title, while Scott Watson was a semi-finalist The three players also ranked in the top 4 of the Race to Monte-Carlo at the time
However, a Spanish team on clay, especially on home soil, can never be underestimated . In the qualifying rounds, the locals got the better of the Brits in the qualifying final with a 2-1, with Izan Bañares upsetting Lorimer to swing the momentum in favour of Spain before they powered on to win the deciding doubles in convincing fashion
The two teams met again in the grand finale Lorimer did not play and, in what was a tussle in the first rubber, Toni Escarda Piñeiro got the better of Watson in just under two hours, putting the locals ahead with a 6-3 3-6 6-3 win .
Twelfth-ranked Bañares then sealed the deal for Spain with an inspired 6-3 6-2 victory over Pickerd-Barua

Austria got off to a strong start, stunning the Czechs when 46th-ranked Anna Pircher scored a shock 6-2 6-2 win over Katerina Zajickova, number 10 in the rankings
Undefeated in both qualifying and final rounds, European #1 and Race to Monte-Carlo leader Jana Kovackova was the linchpin of the Czech team She more than lived up to her ranking by getting the Czechs back onto an even keel, methodically dispatching of Lea Haider-Maurer 6-0 6-1 in 47 minutes .
Spain and Czechia win 14 & Under Summer Cups titles
Into a deciding doubles it went, and by the slimmest of margins the Czechs pipped the Austrians to the post . Although the Austrians held their own, the steady hands of Kovackova caressed an exquisitely angled cross-court backhand winner on match point to give the Czechs a 6-3 2-6 10-6 win, as well as their second title in three years
Final Standings
The Summer Cups tournament also serves as European qualifying for the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals, which were held in Prostejov (CZE) in August . Hosts Czechia as well as the top 5 teams (in bold) qualified for the event

HIGHLIGHTS
In what was a mouth-watering prospect from the instant the draws were released, current 16&U Race leader Gonçalo da Rosa Castro (POR) faced last year’s 14&U Player of the Year and Junior Masters champion Daniel Jade (FRA) in the semis. In a riveting joust for junior tennis fans, it was the older boy who helped Portugal to a 3-0 win over the hosts, posting a 6-1 5-7 7-5 win over the Lebanese-born French player.
There was more disappointment for Team France, as the second seeded girls’ team were defeated by Czechia in the first tie of the final rounds. Recently naturalized French player Ksenia Efremova won her singles match against Sofie Hettlerova, but the Czechs came back strongly to win the remaining singles and doubles rubbers.
The Czech girls’ team was upended by Romania in the semifinals, thus preventing them from reaching a fifth straight final and ending their hopes of a fourth straight win.
KEY RESULTS
Including the qualifying rounds, the Germans lost only one match in the entire event: the dead doubles rubber against Romania in the QF of the final rounds .
It was the first meeting between Dedura-Palomero and Castro; McDonald extended his head-to-head record over Monterio to 4-0
The results in the final saw the exact same scoreline as when the two teams faced off in the final match of the qualifying rounds: two singles wins, a doubles win without the loss of a single set for Germany This time, however, the Portuguese had switched out Castro from the doubles in favour of Monteiro to accompany Leal

Stojsavljevic was undefeated in the qualifying rounds and only lost one singles match in the final rounds: a tough three-setter to Mariella Thamm of Germany in the semis
